INFJs have the ability to manipulate, but most often they will not do it because they always think of the good of others and are genuine in their interest in others. They hate insincerity and ulterior motives, for this reason they will not resort to manipulation, but will choose to be honest and express their needs openly (at least emotionally mature INFJs)
As i experienced some people manipulate unintentionally when they feel like they need to protect themselves from the idea that they could have done a mistake. Or they use manipulation in order to get people on their side to feel less alone. I know some enfjs who did it despite not really having bad intentions. And i always saw them doing it when they felt weak and insecure. I think it’s all a matter of self reflection

He's missing a lot of nuance, and that's because he isn't the type he thinks he is. Many INFPs get mistyped as INFJ, primarily because of the misunderstanding of the cognitive functions. INFP, and other FiTe users use their feelings, hearsay, and Wikipedia, and Inot objective factual logic( Ti.) to decide what is right (for them, subjectively) instead of documented objective truth to back up their claims. As a result, FiTe users will blindly accept the results of an online test (because infps are inherently lazy-ish) Instead of researching multiple tests, actually learning the material (which Frank has not) INFJ are Se inferior users. Se users don't use Si in their main 4 functions, NiFeTiSe. Frank, by his speech and behavior, exhibits SiFi behavior, FiNeSiTe. Frank doesn't fully understand the functions either, at least as of the three last videos I watched from a couple of years ago. The mistake is easy to make. Even though neither type shares any cognitive functions, they do present similarly to anyone who doesn't understand. Frank's behavior, attitude, and overall demeanor scream INFP, and there's nothing wrong with INFP. I personally love E/INFPs. The manipulative side of INFJ mostly comes out when younger, esp in relation to thinking types as romantic interests, and is so not worth it btw, really shitty to others, and they literally will run from you if there's not a strong bond already, or even if their is. You get your karma as well when it happens to you (emotional manipulation) from someone with stronger Fe or stronger sensing (and almost everyone has stronger sensing lol) or straight-up narcissism. Big difference between INFJ manipulation and other Fe users with higher sensing, once the person pulls away from INFJ definitively, the INFJ may be pissed (and the other 4 stages of grief), but due to low Se, will pretty much let the person go unscathed, "do nothing" approach so as to not make waves, will tend to take the blame, take the L, and will reflect deeply on their own behavior in the situation primarily, analyzing and putting the pieces together psychologically, hopefully with the help of friends feedback (Fe social feedback), and looking for ideas in books or psych articles to diagnose the problem psychologically and reach that "aha! That's what was going on." And the social feedback is important so that they don't get into an unproductive Ni-Ti loop or ruminate too much. (they should focus on self compassion and care though as well) Also - I am not the only one, but I believe the infamous "INFJ" frank james is actually mistyped! (Very strong intuition that he's ISFJ, or at least an Si-Ne type. Others [ok, one INFP] have said maybe ENTP based on the same Ne vibes) edit: also the reason the subreddit (or any infj thread) is so huge is because of ISFJ or INFP mistypes...

Nah most if people there are Te users that have no idea what they are talking about. Te absorbs logic, it doesn't use one of its own and therefore argumentative reasoning is not something a Te user would be good at- maybe with the exception of ITJs, because they have Ti critic so they watch out for their logical understanding if things a lot, they are simply thinking so stupid of themselves that they are even afraid to use it.

Communication is manipulation, so no matter how hard we try. We are constantly manipulating ourselves and everyone around us. I believe that’s one of the hardest part of being an INFJ.I think its okey to manipulating other so they can grow and believe in them self more. I (an INFJ) told my best friend (an ISFP) that I believed every social interaction anyone has with anyone is technically a form of manipulation, because people decide what to say and how to say it based on how they think others will feel/interpret/respond to it. So even if the intent is to be kind, honest, etc., you’re still manipulating anyone you communicate with because what they *understand* depends on how you communicate with them, which depends on how you expect them to understand. … He called me a psychopath. 😂
