Just a update note between the ALP and the Control Panel. The CP now has 4 screws holding it in that have to be taken out. Also the haptic cable is off to the left side and doesn't need to be unscrewed. The USB cable is just hold in with a plastic holder.
If I have the haptics upgrade kit should I still connect the haptic cable from the arcade panel? I just watched the install for the haptics kit and they did not install the haptics cable from the arcade panel, only the USB was plugged in.
If you install the haptics cable to the panel, the ball is going to go nuts (even on low settings). I left it disconnected and only connected the USB cable.
How do you exit out of Arcade net Arcade games? I tried every button and I cant seem to get back to the Home page of the system where you see all the games listed?

Great video, but I have a suggested addendum: I recently received my control panel and installed various ROMs for testing by following your guide. Everything seemed initially to be working correctly until I tried a more complex game…(In this case: Defender) The thing with the defender is it uses a great deal of buttons (instead of the one or two that are normally used). In any case I tried to map all of the six buttons and found that several of them are reporting the exact same code which makes them completely un-mappable. If you have the time I would appreciate if you could try this as well and verify that you are indeed getting different codes based upon all six buttons, but in any case I would recommend that ALL purchasers of the control panel make sure to try mapping all of the buttons IN A SINGLE GAME (or just verify they work correctly to do the various menu options) to ensure that all of them work AS SOON AS THEY GET IT. Considering AtGames only has a 90 day warranty they really wanna make sure to put the control panel through all of its paces to ensure there is absolutely no issue since sending it back and having it repaired (after warranty) is quite expensive. The other thing is that the process of adding CoinOpsX is a little involved but since it is the primary reason for buying the control panel, people should buy the control panel only when they KNOW they will have the time to run through the whole CoinOpsX process as that really seems to be the only way to truly test all of the buttons (at least as far as I know). Thankfully your site makes installing CoinOpsX a fairly painless affair, but it is still rather time consuming to download some of the larger bits that people may need to fully test all the functionality of the control panel. Anyway, thanks again for a great video!
@@WagnersTechTalk The saga continues: Tried the diagnostics for the pinball and is able to differentiate between the 6 buttons without any issue(although it seems that my rewind button is quite flakey for some reason). Anyway, I tried a few other random ROMS and it seems that MAME can’t seem to differentiate between the X, A, and B buttons…they all seem to return “RP1 B RP1 A RP1 X”… or other variations depending on the emulator, like Mortal Combat Ultimate(hack) emulator receives ”Retropad A Retropad B Retropad X”…which perhaps means my controller is sending all 3 buttons no matter which button is pressed (?)… not sure how exactly the ALP diagnostics are figuring it out, but the MAME emulators are pretty confused. BTW, I am entering the advanced config area of MAME via HOME->Adv. Config. When I try to use HOME->Button Mapping option it prompts me for a button assignment but doesn't indicate which button I am assigning it to on the image of the controller (kind of hard to believe a bug like that is still floating around on the latest firmware… then again maybe it’s a new bug). Interestingly, the *default* button mapping for Mortal Combat Ultimate(hack) works and I can use all 5 buttons (there is only 5 buttons in the arcade game), however, I cannot remap the buttons using MAME or I get issue mentioned above. I guess the only option would be to generate a button config for Mortal combat and see if I can manually create one for Defender using a PC and a text editor. In anycase, it would be really helpful if you could tell me if you see the same issue when attempting to re-map controls in either Mortal Combat Ultimate(hack) or Defender as I am really unsure at this point if my controller is messed up or if they are all this way.

Anyway, at this point, the issue is simply now that *re-mapping* any controls in either CoinOpsX or AddOnX causes X A and B buttons to be unmappable due to them all reporting the same code (see above). Hi David, I would setup a 2nd USB drive for the Legends Pinball (that's what I did). The code that gets downloaded and installed to the Flash Drive X partition (tables, apps, etc.) will be different for each platform - assuming you are using dual partitions on a single USB stick. For details on how to setup CoinOpsX yourself, please see this guide: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsx . It's a little time consuming, but not hard to do. Also, in the future you may find separate bezel artwork just for the ALP so having on dedicated USB sticks just makes the most sense to me.

I have a question? I bought the control panel and installed it. Mine seems to act wonky when it does work. I tried a different USB cable and reset several times. It works sometimes for a min then starts acting up. Any ideas would be appreciated. Really enjoy the channel, your videos help a lot. Thanks
I've not seen an issue with the ACP installed in the ALP HD/4KP. I assume you're using in one of those two machines, is that correct? If so, I'd recommend contacting AtGames here: www.atgames.net/arcades/contact . Use the purple chat icon (lower right) during business hours and reach someone directly.
Thanks, yes I installed it on the HD. When I install the original panel it works fine. I did Google it and a few other people had the same issues. I will follow the link. Thanks again.
Hi Todd, I don't have a video on it but for the wired controller just plug it into the USB 2.0 port (white USB port on the top panel of the ALP). I don't recall having to do any custom mapping (though, it was about a year ago and I may be wrong). It just worked from what I remember. For a wireless controller, you'll put the controller in pairing mode (think there is a small button on the back of the controller), then go into Settings-->Wireless pairing and pair it from there. Give it a shot, start with the wired controller (it will be the easiest).
Hi again, were you able to fix the rattling noise from the new control panel from the haptics? The plastic panel covering it, rattles like crazy. I just disconnected it for now. I thought maybe I could remove them from the panel, and re-attach to the sides or the bottom of the box, but they dont look like they can be removed without destroying them. PS thanks for your awesome website that explains like so much detail about this machine.
Very welcome on the website/video stuff. Here's one way that a user recommended to reduce the rattling: wagnerstechtalk.com/alptips/#Arcade_Control_Panel_Rattling . But before you consider that, please see the section 'Sound / Haptic Distortion' here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp/#Troubleshooting , this worked for me.
You're rattle most likely comes from the loose acrylic plate, you just need to add some two way tape to re adhere it, I had this issue, thought it was the haptic speakers, I originally looked at the plate and I didn't see it the separation. But when I got the speakers and began to install them I saw it, and added tape. With hindsight I think that was the issue not the speakers
Hey WTT Crew ! Quick Question if ya don't mind ? Would you be able to give us the USB VID / ID of the control panel like as by plugging it up to a PC , etc. I'd like to add a couple extra buttons to my ALP, and if I can source a similar Encoder board, I can make it work with the stock ALPs Brain, as well as PC , pretty easily ! Either that, or a better quality / closeup of the Chip so I can determine which variety of key encoder they employ in this device. Thank you.

I'm confused, I don't think you're using this Arcade Control panel. This one doesn't have Bluetooth, it's wired via the USB port inside the ALP. No need for a hub, you just connect the USB cable that is sitting inside the cabinet. Perhaps I'm missing something, please correct me if so.
I've not added a spinner, the trackball works fine with most all spinner games (i.e. Tempest, Arkanoid, etc.) If you want a spinner also, this "might" work: amzn.to/3SSNTGF , but definitely ask a question there before considering. You may also want to check here if anyone has used it already on the ACP: www.reddit.com/r/LegendsUltimate .
Well, my arcade controller is out for delivery right now. I hope it fixes my haptics issue. Got my ALP a 6 days ago and the haptics lasted a day and a half 🙁
That actually a really good idea especially to test out the haptics in pinball because most of the time you will need to add some felt-tape under the plexiglass to run haptics on max or the plexiglass will vibrate and sound really bad… just make sure to max out the haptics (during the test) and place your hands on the controls the way usually play…ie: really play test the install…the thing is the pressure can be different after assembly… it took me 4 tries to get the vibration down once (and to stay that way after everything was re-assembled). Also make sure to play SEVERAL of the loudest and most haptic intense games like wipeout, 1812, gladiators, and Rescue 911 during the test. Once the test is complete it us a good idea to lower the haptics strength to a solid (but reasonable) level… since you can overdrive and wear out haptics if you push the to unreasonable levels for long periods of time.
You don't have to have ArcadeNet to play additional games. Here's a guide on how to setup CoinOPSX if you're interested in that: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsx/
Totally up to you. A few accessories (which I cover in my guides and videos in detail) are VIBS and the Arcade Control Panel (this video). Both of them are great together, much prefer navigating the system with the joystick (over the d-pad). You will want to get a USB thumb drive to add additional games, regardless if you will be using COX or downloading additional tables from AtGames. I would recommend any (or all) of the Zaccaria game backs as well as TAITO. Depending on where you got your machine, you may already have free access to Zaccaria Vols 1-4. Start your journey here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp , it will give you a foundation on what it is you're interested in learning more about. The videos/guides there will fill you in on more details.

Does anybody know if you can swap out the octagonal joystick gate for a 4-way, to play 80's games like pac-man, DK, etc? The gate that comes with the controller looks pretty standard/swappable--just don't know for sure. Thanks!
Hi Rob, I've not personally swapped the gate but it's "likely" that it will work. Glen's Retro Show recently released an electronic switcher so you don't even have to open the panel to swap (which would be ideal, if it works on the ALP). One of the comments there states it works on the Gamer Pro, so a good chance it would work on the ALP. Here's the link: amzn.to/3ITJL0R .
Do I have to pay for arcade net to play games? Can I play other games with this setup? Thanks
You don't have to have ArcadeNet to play additional games. Here's a guide on how to setup CoinOPSX if you're interested in that: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-coinopsx/
@@WagnersTechTalk thank you! I just got my legends pinball yesterday and trying to decide what’s first. Any suggestions?
@@WagnersTechTalk I got it at Sam’s club and didn’t see anything about the free games. I will check out all your stuff for sure. Thanks for the help. Just want to donit right from the beginning. Moded arcade 1 ups and wish I researched before.
Hopefully someone else who's tried it will reply to your comment here.
@@WagnersTechTalk oh that’s cool. Thank you!
they added 4 screws the control panel as of 10/22/2021
How did you get the plunger to work? Ours does not.
Please explain about where the plunger is not working, with the built-in tables, FX3, VPX, Future Pinball, all, etc.
So you hook up this control pane to your pinball machine and do you have to buy all the arcade games you want to playa ugh it? Curious thanks

How long ago did you order this? (Pre-order)
Shortly after getting my Legends Pinball from Sams Club. Late March/early April time frame (Edited)
@@WagnersTechTalk late march? We all ordered us on nod 2/14 and still dont have ours. Guess youtubers got preference?
@@kevgret I myself don't have an issue with this. Gives me the opportunity to second-guess my purchase. Those earlier reviews switched my decision from A1U pinball to AtGames Legends pinball.
@@FloriDUH_JBot thats your opinion. If i preordered months before a youtuber i should get my product first. If he ordered same day as me thats a different story.
Great video thank you!
My pleasure!
Unfortunate they're still using the same haptics that's on my wave 11 that were busted day 1 out of box. They went from a loud rumble to now a loud tick, a sign they're blown. @ messed up tying the front haptics to overall backbox sound on same amp and all the still not fixed fw glitches (gottlieb) busted them
Just did this and no back button....
I don't know what you were in at the time, but B does work for back most of the time depending on the context of what you're doing. When navigating menus/tiles, you can press B to go back after selecting something. In CoinOpsX, Rewind is to exit out of the COX menu. Also, at the bottom of the screen it will tell you which buttons will work for what you're wanting to do.
The vibration on mine makes it unplayable
Got a few tips here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alptips/#Arcade_Control_Panel_Rattling
Ah nothing like playing those vertical games on a vertical screen
Totally agree!!
Great, now I have to remove my furniture! Where do I put this?
Bye bye mattress, hello outside porch.
Btw- I owned the original Bobba Fett with the launching missile!
LOL, well at least the weather is nice lately. Did you seriously own the original Bobba Fett with the launching missile? From what I recall, you had to cut out proof of purchase Kenner tags, send like 10 of them in and then they'd ship it. Then at some point they were recalled due to a choking hazard. I know I got the Ghost Obiwan that way and think I still have it. I need to check now :)
@@WagnersTechTalk yes. It took forever to finally receive it. If I can recall, it took over a year for them to ship it to me.
Arkanoid plays terribly with the AtGames trackball regardless of sensitivity. Need a quality spinner.
Guess that pretty much applies to any spinner/dial game with the AtGames trackball?
Obviously, Arkanoid was meant to be played with a spinner. However, playing it with the trackball worked well on this panel. JMHO
@@WagnersTechTalk Is there the ability to add a spinner to the panel?
If they'd trade me my Legends Gamer Pro for it. Otherwise $200. Nope.
$109 + SH here: ua-cam.com/video/KvIzGB58VME/v-deo.html likely the best you'll see until the next NOD (Feb. usually). Start the video from the beginning, sale starts 12/26.
