Tess, I'v seen so many crafters on UA-cam struggle with this yarn trying to make a perfect granny. I use left over yarn for my granny squares and then use one main color to end the squares and join all the squares together. I like my mismatch grannies better, because that means no two granny blankets will ever be the same. I might some day try this yarn, no idea when.
I have used this yarn and love it. I made a Granny Square cardigan with it. Each color is measured to be a certain length. The center color is the least amount of yarn and each color gets longer from there. So it won't work backward, but it was fun to watch you try it! 😂
Tess I hope your test had good results!! Thanks for doing this review. I have tried this yarn and I love it. I had to try it a couple of times to get the right tension but I figured it out! It says you can get 14 granny squares from a skein. A couple of times I even got 15 squares from 1 skein. Have a great weekend. Love and hugs. 🧶🙂😘❤🙏
Also if you want to be extra nerdy about it you can pull the yarn from the center and measure the exact length of each color starting with the first color meant for the granny square 😊
Oh you know I have theories Tess! 😂 I'm thinking you're working the colours backwards when working from the outside of the yarn ball so it won't work 🧐 also if you loosen your tension or go half a hook size up you won't get the 'bleed' into the next round. Mikey had a tutorial out a while ago on this yarn, not sure if he had a hand in the design of it or not, I can't quite remember 😉 Looking forward to that hook review! 😊😊
Hi Tess...I haven't tried that yarn yet. 🤔 I think its all in the hook size and tension. From all the videos I've seen on it, so who knows. 🤪 lol Hope all goes well with the test. 🙏
I think the instructions for the yarn tell you to start from the inside. So I’m guessing the color stripes start in order from the center pull. The pattern is not reversible so starting from the outside the striping would be backwards and the color lengths would be different. So it makes sense that the outside end does not make a proper color changing granny square. I hope that explanation makes sense lol I haven’t worked with the yard myself but I’ve seen a lot of reviewing and I’ve been eyeing the yarn for a while!
I haven’t used that yarn yet. Interesting theory on the difference of starting inside or outside. Thank you for the review. Blessings.

I love granny square, I have trouble getting one started on it😅

Yes your theory is correct the colors lengths are not all the same 😊
