Instruo Lubadh, Error Instruments Sound Scaper, two Versios- ‘Puppies in Space’- RtB

The Tape and Microsound case finally has its last big ticket item: the Instruo Lubadh, another steep learning curve for the post-retirement brain. So much so in fact that I had to enlist the assistance of the Instruo help desk to get it to function even as a basic file player- although it didn’t help that the usb drive it came with had been corrupted, presumably by the previous owner. So here it is as a simple file player, playing back two segments of unequal length from the same session, one at half speed, the other at the original pace. The combination is run through the Desmodus Versio, while the ‘whining’ is from the Error Instruments Sound Scaper via the Electus Versio.
Insofar as basic operation is concerned, the Lubadh is not desperately complicated. However, there are behaviours mentioned in various forums (fora?) that are not described in the manual, and both of Instruo’s own tutorial videos, useful though they are, come in at well over two hours each, and one of them is not even chapterised. There are very few other ‘how to’ videos out there at all- Robert at Cinematic Laboratory has a couple of good ones, but you can count the remainder on the fingers of one thumb. Add to that the fact that, with v2 firmware, there are ten different algorithms that can be loaded (and tweaked behind the scenes by amending the individual text files on the sd card), most of which are not demonstrated anywhere and none of which get more than a sentence in the manual, and you start to appreciate just how deep this thing can get. I’m aware that one of the algorithms is a simple return to the classic v1 functionality, and anecdotally it seems that many users have simply stuck to that. I shall be checking many of them out for myself- I have an abundance of time (if perhaps not of patience), and there may be some hidden gems. What might be useful would be to actually demonstrate some, or more, of them in video form- tutorial videos are vital in the field of electronic music-making gear, and I see no reason why I shouldn’t be harvesting a bunch of views for making some.

I have in fact secured about fifteen minutes of this- more heavily modulated by then- in AUM for just that eventuality.
