1 of the most important parts of Avatar The Last Airbender is the relationships between the main team Avatar. The show thrives on the fun interactions between Team Avatar and in particular the romantic relationships between Katara and Aang and Katara and Zuko. These have formed 2 of the most debated ships in Avatar The Last Airbender and I talk about which of these relationships Netflix will choose to adapt in their live action Avatar The Last Airbender series. Honestly the actor for Aang looks so young compared to Kataras actor it would just look so weird if they did a romance between them. This why I really hope that if they don’t do a zutara ending there at least no romance at all.
Yes I've just seen them at Tudum. It is very noticeable. Even more so than the animation. By the end of it they're going to be a good few years older so by the time the romance side picks up in Season 3 it might not look as weird. We'll have to wait and see.
True, but people get older. So we could see a big difference by the time we even get to season 3 or 4, or by the time the writers wanna to even do anything with them. Plus, it’s not like we have to worry about them getting into CW territory with Aang and Katara.
frankly kataang looks weird even in the animated series. i really could've done without a solid 5 minutes of pictures of a teenage girl kissing a literal child. it's not very realistic either, none of the girls in my middle school or high school ever dated the younger guys, they always went after older guys who were more on their level in emotional maturity.
At least let Gordon be 16 when it starts even though it was kinda weird in the show for a 12yo and a 14 yo but it becomes potentially problematic when Kiawentiio turns 18 even though they are really only 3 years apart
This is how I felt about Kataang in the animated series. It was always a brother sister vibe for me, the romance felt unrealistic
I feel like they might do zutara for the majority of this live-action series due to the age gap and also maybe to satisfy the zutara shipers, but ultimately, katara will still end up marrying Aang whether that's gonna be shown in this live-action series of not.

I'd love that tbh, I consider myself a die hard zutara shipper, but I've come to terms with the Canon version so I'm fine with her and aang sticking to it, however that little flame doesn't die so easily and so I do hope they have some sort of approach between zuko and katara (BECAUSE THE SIGNS WERE THERE lol) so yeah

Zuko is 17 in the show, they changed his age. 17 and 14 is certainly pushing it, 16 and 14/14 and 12 is already pushing it. I don’t think they would do that. They probably won’t do romance at all
I just wish for Katara to be more than a prize at the end, more than a wife and a mother living quietly, like wtf 😭. The last episode and everything after feels like Aang's fever dream, she is so OOC.
Edit: I think part of the problem is that different episodes are written by different people, thus characters can be incosistent. Most of the time Katara looked uncomfortable with Aang's pursuit. There is no development of them romantically, towards the end there is no (or bad) communication and then boom - they are couple? Sure Jan.
(And I'm not even pointing out the obvious, the fact that no girl Katara's age would ever go for an immature 12 y.o... when previously she liked boys like Jet lol. For most of the show Aang us like her brother/child.)
Anyway there are many analyses about her, about this, by people who said it better than me. This is just my opinion.

Katara didn't show any romantic interest in Aang at all, even in the final acr, just Aang was the one who wanted her even as a childish whim, that's why it feels so forced, because it was. Feels like she was the price because Aang just have her interested after he saved the world. Instead Zutara feels so natural in all the development they have together. Not forced at all

the cave of 2 lovers, who gave the idea of kissing and got upset when Aang said no.
Who kissed Aang on the cheek multiple times,
Not to mention the amount of times Katara got jealous when some other girl gets Aang’s attention
2. Zuko & Katara don’t show any signs of them being interested in each other, we see how they act around people they like, they both offer gifts, they both will blush and get flustered around people they like. They don’t do that with each other
I’m not here saying you can’t ship whoever you want to ship, all the power to you, but to sit here and say “they don’t show any romantic interest” is wrong

I’m not so sure it was one sided or so, but she may have been oblivious, plus right in the beginning of season 1 of the animated show, in the Kyoshi island episode she does show some jealousy
I am a Zutara shipper personally but I will be okay with Kataang depending on how they write it. I do want Zuko to have a better love interest than Mai because I feel that won't affect Korra. There is no confirmation that Mai is Izumi's mother. However, depending on how well this does, they can reboot the parent couples in Korra and make new kids.

Exactly! No way would I be against Kataang if the writing was actually coherent. Not saying it's bad but the romance kind of is.
Onscreen Zutarra would be incredibly brave of them, because I would expect a lot (or at least a surprising number) of fans will claim they hate Avatar and spent $120 million to "destroy" the show. (Much like the claim that Amazon spent a billion dollar to destroy Tolkien's legacy.)
Surprisingly the fandom of Zutara is big and if they make it right (character development/writing) I don’t think it would be a problem at all

Is good to see that the hipocrisy in the Zutara fandom hasn't changed, considering how many talk about the age gap beetween Aang and Katara's actor as a problem, even if its only 3 years. But they hope for Zutara, in spite of Zuko's actor being 20 far older than Katara's and legally an adult. But sure, it'll be less creepy than 2 children getting together.

The age of the actors is irrelevant compared to the age of the characters. Katara and Zuko look approximately the same age (young adults) while Aang looks like a baby.
I mean it’s only a difference of two years, which is acceptable, plus two kids getting together, it was a kids show. When I was watching it to me I just thought she was around the same age but taller.

Honestly I really hope they do Zutara. Kataang was very much meh for me. I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either. Best case is that they leave romance out of it but judging from Legend of Korra they just couldn’t help themselves.
I was in my 20s when the series first came out so I was not in the demographic for the show but Zutara always felt like it was going to be possible.
I love the world of Avatar but I feel like the shows creators really are jerks due to the comicon incident and lots of other things that they have said about the fan base. BUT I’m very interested knowing that they are no longer involved to see how the Netflix series plays out. I’m sure they are going to hate it either way.

Whether or not Zutara will be canon, Kataang definitely won't be and here's my argument for why and I'm gonna use Stranger Things' filming schedule as a metric. Season one aired July 2016 and was reportedly renewed before it aired (lets say a month prior). Season two began filming in November 2017. Released October 2017. Renewed December 2017, Season 3 began filming in April 2018.
That puts a five month gap between renewal and the beginning of filming. If it takes six months to film a season of Netflix's Avatar, that puts filming for season 2 to start in July 2024 if it goes for six months to end January 2025. If we follow this pattern, season three will start filming in June 2025 and wrap in December 2025. This Gordon (born in October 2009) at 15 and Kia at 19 (born in April 2006) for a good chunk of season three's filming.
But here's the thing: production for Avatar very well might not take as long as Stranger Things because Avatar was renewed for season two and three at the same time while Stranger Things was renewed for season three after season two aired. So there's a very good chance that Gordon will be under the American age of consent in every state for the duration of the show's filming while Kia will be a legal adult.
This is just me making assumptions and ultimately it could play out differently. But I think this is a pretty good estimate of how the filming schedule could look
Now that all that preamble is out of the way, my point: Gordon will in all likelihood be under the age of consent for most if not all of the filming of the show while Kia will be an adult and a romantic plotline would involve them being in sexual situations (kissing counts). I can't say for 100% certain how the people involved would feel so I'll say for myself, if I were in the actors' position, I'd be a little uncomfortable doing it. If I were in the Kia's parents' position, I'd be uncomfortable with my daughter being directed to kiss a kid romantically. If I were Gordon's parents' I'd be uncomfortable with my young son being directed to kiss a grown woman romantically. And if I were the director, I'd be uncomfortable directing any of that. I just don't feel like anyone would want to create this kind of situation behind the scenes
Honestly, though to make zutara happen it wouldn’t be that difficult they would just need to add a few more moments with Zuko part of the group after katara forgives him. I think it would also fix that broken plot point with aang needing to let his “attachment” of her go (that could have a million different interpretations) no lucky rock shenanigans needed. Also, if they really wanted to make a live action Kora. I personally think all the characters could still exist, technically. Like does it really affect the plot if Tenzin has a different mom? 🤔 oh well, the show just really needs to stand out on its own though. Because if I wanted to watch avatar, I would just watch the cartoon. Remakes at the moment are so lackluster and I want something fresh and new. Also I’m really intrigued by the idea of Katara a water bender become fire-lady okay sue me 😅
Precisely. This is the opportunity to fix some of the flaws of the original like that ridiculous rock. There’s no way in hell something like that can be kept. And the Netflix can’t just throw away the chakra plot point like the cartoon did.

Yes they don’t have romantic moments, but they have a great relationship as friends. If you compare I dare to say that they understand each other better due to their experiences. That’s why people ship them. Kataang would’ve had that if it wasn’t for the writing (let’s be fr the show is great but in terms of main relationships is what they lacked, except for Sokka and Suki). We don’t have much development for Kataang we know Aang’s feelings but we aren’t certain about Katara. After their argument, they never addressed it so at the end, it feels rushed that Katara have feelings for Aang. If in the live action they give Kataang a better writing for their relationship then it could work but let’s see how they do it maybe they won’t do any of them and that better imo (even tho I’m Zutara fan)
Netflix did say this is an adaptation not a retelling, it wont be 1 for 1 like the books, especially when you consider actors age and it takes about a year and then some to film a season. By the end of the first book aangs actor will be 16.
As long as the story is good, stays inline with the rules of the world of avatar and doesn't butcher character behavior, I'm fine if they swap the romance. After all this is not cannon. Only the animations are, and not only are we getting a new movie about the gaang grown up, in real time cannon, they are already dead with children.
Kataang! She was his motivation to save the world. Katara fell for Aang because he let her relax and feel safe. He brought out the good in her. Plus when they go to the fire nation Aang has real riz.

I think they should go with Zutara because adaptation are supposed to have some differences between the source material. If they do kataang then the netflix series will just be live action copy of the original.

Yes I know CBS Paramount plus but I cant imagine if this thing is a hugh success, they wouldn't let netflix do the live actions and they do the animations. Its a win win. Look what Dare Devil did for Marvel . People knew him from the netflix show were thrilled and people who didn't went back to watch an old show, thus peaking it back to top of the charts .
Netflix will want when new shows and movies come out. People can go for their live action for reference as they would the cartoons.

Sure you can make Tenzin' s mother a random person but that would make no sense. Tenzin character traits are mixture of both Aang and Katara personalities. He exhibit both set of traits through out the 4 seasons.
The story would deviate and if Zutara is end game if they made a Korra live action.Which is the point I was making with the fire nation Babies.
They will have to make things different to fit thier versions of events and outcome for it to make sense . Which means changing the orgins and explain Katara as a Fire Nation Queen with possible children with Zuko. No one is asking for a 1 to 1 remake of ATLA , we are asking to keep the the main parts of the story's it's core, faithful to the original. Which is why I wrote. I'm not against deviation just as long as they stay true the original endgame. If they want to do multiverse ATLA where they change things then by all means. Just they might be adding Kyoshi early to the story but Kyoshi's addition don't affect the out come of cannon events. Like the end product. Unless they give Kyoshi Roku's roll. Which they won't. They aren't idiots. If they want to make it to 3 seasons. They won't anger those people who call things WOKE all the time.
Showing how the air nomads die isn't a deviation. It exposition.. It's not in the original. But it's a new unique perspective.
I would have like to see Iroh break out if prison. So changes will and can be made. Just as long as they fit in the main story arc of what we know and love.

Aang learns all the bending in a specific order (cannon right. )If he Learns Fire before earth it's a deviation from the source material one of the key elements if the cycle. It's not 1v 1 they could do it and it could make sense . But No Matter how well it's written. It's not cannon. Even if the writers explain a good reason for him to earn fire early even if he doesn't master it. The fact that he could be blasting fire at Azula and Zuko in book two , is a major change to a core aspect of the original story. They could skip/omit the part where he burns Katara therefore he has no reason to not want to learn it. Change yes. Faithful no. It would be disappointing because this is a key aspect. In both thier development. Aang's shame. Katara learning she can heal. Another one is to have Aang kill the fire lord. If Netflix does this it would also take away. Aang core character arc as being a monk and what he believe, To kill Ozai is just not Aang. ( It's what some fans want change. And they argue tooth and nail on why it should have been. ) But
it's not cannon. Just like Zutara will NEVER be cannon. So put that in your pipe and smoke.

It literally does not matter because at the end of the day the official Avatar Movie is coming out 2024/2025, and with more content to come because of Avatar studios. Now if you want to base your material off Netflix that's fine but if you want the real deal you know where to find it

hmm... it could be possible to satisfy people's desires, if it ends with zuko it means the live action doesn't follow the original ATLA story and will also change Korra's story. No matter who it ends with, what I want to see is the avatar world.
i want to see zutara work. i just think it'll be fun. i mean we saw kataang in the cartoon, so seeing zutara in the live action would be kinda nice. in this way both shippers will pretty much have what they want. then if they do a korra, they can break em up behind the scenes or mess around there....but for the original series zutara endgame.
only thing i'm hesitant about is that the original ages between the Katara n Zuko is three years, cause if u read character descriptions for the live action Katara is 14 and Zuko, 17. However, their actors are a lot older with Kiawentio 17 and Liu 21. I feel it could go both ways.
Yeah and honestly if we are examining the actor's ages, it would make a lot more sense to put Katara and Zuko together because production takes years and she will probably be 19 or 20 by book 3. Also where is the info for the characters ages? I thought Katara was going to be 15 and Zuko 16.

Personally I don't think Toph and Aang would work unless they drastically changed Tophs character in the Live action (which I think is unlikely). I haven't seen Meng be cast either so it's possible she won't even be in it. Onji could be a good should. There are lots of fan theories around that.

This show is terrible at romances, but as long as it makes sense i have no problem with ether. But, zuko and Katara seemed like a straight line while the other was all over the place just to keep kid's watching.I think Netflix knows not to to run with a tacky method of story telling.

You'd essentially need to re-write the show because the relationships are closely tied to the characters' personal growths as well.
I'm beyond shipwars at this point in my life, I'm pretty neutral on the whole thing, what I'm doing here is just being realistic based on what I've observed.
I've watched ATLA a hundred times over and to this day, I don't see where y'all see zutara at any point before the last like, 4 episodes of the show. Even then, I can only MAYBE understand, a little bit, why people see a potential connection.
People have concerns because aang looks too young. But their ages are actually quite close to that of their characters. There's a greater age gap between katara and zuko's actors than katara's an aang's. So this all just comes off as a weird double standard.
The best thing would be to hold off on any of the romantic points of that plotline until later on. Which, honestly, ATLA did pretty well in the first place. By the time we get to book 3 stuff, aang's actor will have grown. He's 14 going on 15.
They SHOULD rewrite certain aspects of the story. Like the way Season 3 just dropped the chakra plot point without any resolution or personal growth for Aang. And a completely faithful remake is boring. They should do things different to make it interesting. A lot of the original staff on Avatar saw potential in Zutara. So, it’s not out of nowhere. Many of writers themselves were interested in writing the show that way, but Bryke had the final say.

Okay, even if we do not have Zutara, Kataang will seem very disturbing because the actor of Aang looks much much younger than he is, and he is also very young compare to the actress of Katara who will become 18 next year. Even if they keep the scenes the same, Zutara will seem more romantic and healthy. I'm Zutarian, and i think that we will get justice in this project, no matter if we will have a zutara canon or not because people will finally realize that their scenes in the animation were romantic while the scenes of kataang in the original, were violating ( from the aspect of consent) and disturbing. A teenager can never like romantically a 12 year old. The normal attraction would be someone older. And Zuko is not very old compare to Katara or seems abnormal. He is almost 17 by the end and Katara is almost 15. While Aang is almost 13. And you can see how weird it is also with Toph. She is the same age as Aaang and yet even though she likes Sokka, the creators did not make him fall in love with her. Because she is a child.
the only romantic scene of zutara in the animation was not even romatic as confirmed by writers and creators. It was a sympathetic moment that couldve been interpreted as romantic if it got build up upon, but it didnt. In fact kattang got a very similar scene the next episode that was then build upon in the next episode after that. While what aang did in the EIP episode was bad it was nowhere near what zuko has done throughout the show. after aangs mistake he showed remorse and didnt initiate again, she did. But in zukos case he spent 95% of the show trying to kill them, took kataras mom necklace, captured her, and sent an assassin after them and even after all of that he still felt like he deserved forgiveness from her which is entitled asf. Zuko himself never cared abt her and she never cared abt him espicially after the first betrayal. In TSR zuko didnt even know why she was upset even though it was very obvious, so he wanted to take her to her mothers killer while she wasnt in the right state of mind just so that she didnt hate him anymore.
They didnt make sokka fall in love with her not cause she was a child, just because he didnt like toph, he didnt like suki. Had nothing with toph being a child. Katara was 14 in the original series while aand was 12. Same age gap between zuko and katara. Zuko and katara never showed any romantic interest throughout the entire show
i think that's the thing people don't appreciate about the animated series - the live-action aang actually DOES look his age, people are either so used to characters being played by much older actors or being drawn as quasi-ageless that they don't realize that's exactly what a relationship between a 14yo girl and 12yo boy looks like. if seeing katara's actress kissing aang's actor gives you the heebie-jeebies, that's your lizard brain telling you kataang is just wrong.

I'm going to be honest, I always found Aang-Katara as a very weird pairing (and I mean no disrespect to those who ship them. It IS after all the official pairing). I just never saw their relationship as a romance. They appeared to be like an older sister and younger brother relationship. Age differences at that age (early teens) are just a bigger issue than when both are teenagers or adults. As a teenager I would have never looked at a 12 year old kid and considered him for a boyfriend (but that's just me, anyway). It always looked one-sided to me from Aang's part. Like Katara was an older girl he was fascinated by. I thought Katara was fascinated by Aang for being the Avatar and loved him as a little brother. And yet, at some point it was expected that regardless of their dynamic, they would indeed be the endgame. They did write moments between Kataang since early on, so it was obvious that they would be the endgame, at least until the season two finale. I would have never expected anything to come out of Zuko and Katara's relationship if it wasn't for the show itself putting the idea in my head with the way their relationship developed after Zuko joined the Avatar's side near the end. I think I would have been okay with Kataang being the endgame (although always thinking it was weird) if the show itself wouldn't have put so much effort into building Katara and Zuko's relationship so well and so beautifully by the end. That scene between them in the cave felt romantic; there was a lot of romantic tension between those characters. And then all that happened between them after Zuko joined their side, it really felt like after all this relationship would be the endgame, and it felt really natural at that point. There was so much complexity between them. There's the history of what the Fire Nation put Katara and her people through and what the Fire Nation itself means to Katara, and how Zuko helped her overcome that painful chapter. It's just the complexity of their relationship, all the things they had in common, and also going from enemies, to allies, to friends, it just felt so much more complex and better developed than Aang and Katara's relationship. Personally I think that Netflix will only adapt The Last Airbender story and won't go as far as adapting Korra, so it won't matter much if they do change the romantic endgames. It will only matter as far as them failing to adapt the story faithfully. If they want to keep it authentic/faithful to the original story, then Kataang will end up together and we should expect nothing more.

i would accept that. To be canon at least in the live action. I only disagree with the comment that they cant be together for Aang. I mean... Aaang should not have a word in this. The relationship concerns only Zuko and Katara and I would understand the whole thing of Fire Nation cause it would be like Romeo and Juliet kind of. But I think it would be interesting for them to be together in an other universe, because it would show the symbolism of actual union and how people learned to be and live together, because in the comics many people from other nations were together and married and had kids.

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope they keep the Kataang relationship going! There are many, many, many, reasons why I think this, but I'm not going to say all of them because that will take WAY too long. But here are a few of the reasons they should keep going with Kataang. I'll go from number three to number one. #3: It will ruin everything in the Avatar Universe if they make a Zutara relationship happen because if they did that, we wouldn't really have the Legend of Korra and it ruins the whole entire series and all the time and effort the original creators put into the cartoon. #2: I'm a serious shipper of my cartoon characters. I literally have a button pin that I brought from Hot Topic that says "My Heart Belong's To Fictional Characters," and me just getting that shows why they should keep Kataang going. #1: AANG AND KATARA JUST WORK REALLY WELL TOGETHER!!! I mean to me, Katara loves Zuko, but it would be more like a love of friendship, not the romantic type of love people want. And second of all, Aang and Katara have GREAT chemistry together. They both are very kindhearted people and they both care about each other very deeply, and that's something that can never, ever be broken, and I know that Katara cares deeply about Zuko as well, but that kind of care is more of a care of friendship, while Aang and Katara are SO much more than that. And, one more thing. I feel like they should keep the ages of the characters the same in the live-action as they did in the cartoon. And just because the actress who plays Katara is 3 years older than the actor who plays Aang, doesn't mean that they don't have to be together in the show. I mean their age gap could be so much worse. They couldv'e made them 17 years apart is they wanted to. But, that's all I have to say! 1. Even if ZK is made canon, it can't destroy what is established BEFORE the ATLA timeline, so if you enjoy the Kyoshi novels or any other past avatar stories, it will remain unchanged.
2. ''LoK will not exist'' - Are you assuming that Korra will never be born? Will Aang and Zuko not establish Republic City all because Katara did not choose Aang?
3. Isn't the LA set in a DIFFERENT universe from the cartoon series? If they changed character dynamics to explore other interesting concepts, would it actually change anything to the KA canon in the animated show? If you watched Riverdale, there were so many experiments of different kinds of ships that were not present in any other established animated canon, to intrigue fans and it doesn't take away the canonicity of the relationships of those series.

I think that might be true for Season 1, where they don't show anything. I feel like they will eventually have to start showing kind of relationship growing. It's Netflix and from what I've seen they very rarely leave out romance. I think it's maybe got something to do with their audiences and how they like to appeal and captivate them.

The zutara rumors for the netflix live action definitely gave me chills as a kataang fan, ngl for me, if they changed the relationship into zutara that will just change the entire plot line or story, because katara and Aang had a lot of growth in their relationship, they went through pain, hardships, they learned together, and help together they basically grew together, as in they became together because of how strongtheir relationship was their destinies were both intertwined, they even had kids in Korraso yeah in my heart i dont want netflix to change that, because that is also an important part of the story line, cuz if they did that will break the Avatar Universe indeed.

Not to be rude but the only Kataang kid that had a BIG effect in the OG timeline was Tenzin, and later Bumi I guess when he becomes an Airbender, so they could just say Aang marries someone else (maybe and air acolytes) and have those Tenzin with them, continuing the bloodline, and Zutara can still happen
What if your dad didn't marry your mum, would you be born? That was my thinking around the logic of the kids if they change Kattang. But yeah to be fair, technically they could still make it work if they were to match aang with some one different. They might just choose to do nothing. Kind of like One Piece.

I need to clear things up. If Zutara gets into live action, it's not going to impact the Kataang shippers, or their children. Stop with that. The live action is not the original series. The original series and its sequels will still exist, including Kataang and their children. Live action is another version, as simple as that. And another version does not need to follow the original exactly. But again, that won't stop the original from existing and still being canon! Hotd for example is a different adaptation of the source material that doesn't follow the book's canon at all. Does that prevent the book from being true canon? No ! So it's the same for Avatar! Also...it'll always make me laugh when people say that Zutara doesn't make sense narratively speaking in the context of the show...when in fact it's the exact opposite. No offense to Kataang shippers, everyone has their own tastes, but before you decide, go read or see meta analyzes on Zutara. In particular the parallel with the legend of Oma & Shu. Making Zutara canon would be a very smart good change, no offense to some.

Maybe they can do both. If they want to stick with the original Kataang ending, they could still give us Zutara. Have Zuko join the GAang earlier on, like maybe when Azula blasts Iroh. He and Katara can get together (but he doesn't teach Aang Firebending yet because he's not ready), then have him betray the GAang in Ba Sing Se under slightly different circumstances, then the rest of the series can play out the same. Or who knows, retellings/remakes/adaptations switch who characters end up with all the time (ex. Catradora in the new She-Ra series), so maybe Zutara will be end game for it. But despite Kataang just barely winning the Netflix pole, Zutara IS to this date, the more popular ship (note: that's not me saying it's better), and they are even the face of the fan-preferred couple trope.

I'm sure I'll get chewed out by Zutara shippers but literally the only reason people ship Katara and Zuko is because she touched his face in the crystal catacombs in Book 2 when she was considering healing his scar, and then she saved his life after he took the lightning for her, which he probably would have done for any of his friends at this point in his arc, especially Aang or Katara. We were halfway through Book 3 when Katara finally decided to forgive Zuko for helping to KILL Aang. Also, their trip to the southern raiders was toxic relationship behavior. 🤣

If they had any common sense, they left love out. The Zutara shipment is actually the biggest reason I'm concerned about the live action. I am very much against this idea. First, yes, I prefer Kataang, but secondly, as you said, changing this would make it a completely different universe with what happens after the war.
About starting out shipping Zutara and then switching to Kataang, I am very against this idea also. First, Zuko is a redemption arch, so if him and Katara had a relationship, it would be after he turns good, but that would be at the building up to the climax of the whole story where it ends with Kataang. So why shoehorn a relationship in at the last minute just to undermine it a few episodes later? They would have to completely change the best redemption arch of all time in order to ship them any earlier. Second, I hate modern culture's idea that you should date one person for a couple of months before jumping to the next. Korra literally dated every single member of Team Avatar, and I dislike that. Team Avatar's job is to save the world, not date around.

There’s no actual Zutara in the animated show if you watch it with your eyes instead of with your assh0le. Not once is their relationship portrayed as anything remotely romantic. Girls just find Zuko attractive and project themselves in the character of Katara. It’s one of the most delusional ships I’ve ever seen people come up with and actually expect the characters to end up together instead of just shipping it for fun.
