Sam, thank you for telling us exactly what range both cars were at. So many reviewers don’t tell you that. That being said the cars won’t be as fast without a nearly full battery. Still a good test though.
It would look so cool if those screens used to fold under when the car is switched off. Would help to protect the screens as well but damn would look sweet.
Most reviews have found that the EV6 is actually a little quicker between the 2, which never made sense to me, because of the Ioniq 5's slightly reduced weight. Not my channel Sam, but I liked your reviews and races better before you added "Lets Roll," to everything. I realize you're trying to find some kind of catch phrase, but it just doesn't seem very natural when you say it imho. A minor viewer nitpick though, hope you don't mind. I will always be a subscriber of yours. The content is still some of the best around. Thank you.
Would be great if the video showed a wide shot of BOTH cars at launch. Hard to tell which car started, say, 0.1 second earlier. Or time separate runs instead of a side-by-side "race". One other factor is aerodynamics design of the cars' exteriors.
Can you please do a race between the hyundai santa fe 2.5L Turbo vs the Genesis gv 70/80 also with the 2.5L Turbo, apparently it's the same engine, but Genesis has tuned it to 300 hp vs hyundai's 281 hp, but both still have 311 Lb tourq, I think it'll be pretty interesting.
Funny, i feel the exact opposite. In fact, i find the ionic 5 to be somewhat hideous. It looks stuck in the past while the ev6 looks like it came from the future.
That's what's interesting about them. I think that the ioniq 5 with lights on looks very unique but purposely retro and pixelated which is not for everyone. The ev6 on the other hand looks very modern and aggressive, it reminds me of the Lambo Urus and Aston Martin DBX, which is crazy since it costs a fraction of those. Then you have the EV6 which is also a weird one but with a much higher end interior. It's good to have options and it looks like all 3 of them are good cars.
Run 1 EV6 Hesitated... confirmed with the side by side from the opposite drivers' perspective. Clearly hesitated or didn't depress the pedal all the way
Sam! How do you do? Someone suggest you a duel and bang! It's there!!! Guest if i ask to do one between gv60 and e-gv70 (it's comming out in Korea), you'll find it? Just kidding... Good job, as always👍🤙
I agree 30 lbs would not be noticable in this race but Sam appears to be at least a few lbs heavier than the other driver so that may make it 50 lbs 🤣either way the driver's reaction time and/or different launch software probably had more impact than weight since the roll race was pretty even 👍
I haven't read all the comments, but whilst you mention the weight of each car, you have NOT given the weight of the drivers... looks can be deceptive of course but you look altogether bigger than the other guy....
Seen Ioniq5 on road and it looks like an bloated porker. The EV6 looks mich better but that rear end is hideous. Both of these run to 60 mph pretty fast but after that have nothing left. Roll race any of these against a Model Y or a Elantra N and they get left behind like they are standing still.
Ioniq 5 looks like blown up Lancia Delta Integrale. Other than that both these are desperately uninteresting, when you are differentiating over a gearstick makes the point how dull these things are to drive. I'll keep the M3...
They're a different experience. It's not a car that's competing with an m3 customer. Don't get me wrong, I love me an m3. This is just more of a daily with some electric oomph. And the differences between the two are mainly just cosmetic because they're basically the same car in different shells.
@@Pratagraph Isn't that the problem with EVs? It's just the styling and interiors to differentiate? I tried the Tesla 3 performance, if anything feels faster than an M3 due to the torque but aside from bits of the door trim falling off had the character of dishwasher. I know its all inevitable and its days are numbered but it makes you realise how much an engine makes a car. Plus try and turn the wipers on and off never mind bring back engines bring back buttons.....
@@andrewmiddleton6782 I'm for ice cars. Tesla in my opinion have the dullest interiors and the big touch screen tablet is not how an infotainment should be in my opinion. That's why I love my genesis g70 so much. Lots of physical buttons, comfortable interiors and after some modifications, lots of intake and turbo noises. I'm gonna hold off on EVs until I can but they're not as bad as most people make them out to be. There are companies other than Tesla making decent EVs now.
@@Pratagraph Agreed, BMW i4 M50 a great effort spoilt by piss poor rear legroom. I have kids so rear room and a decent boot are a pre requisite. The M3 is way better in both respects, so is amazingly more practical. I actually like the spaceship sound effects in the M50...no match for the sounds the M3 makes though. In the UK the major issue is the abysmal charger network...ultimately that's what kills it right now. UK roads are crap too and I'm not sure what impact the extra weight of EVs will have on road quality and maintenance?
So you prefer a high performance sedan that's much more expensive and runs on gas to an electric family SUV? I see. I'm not sure who was comparing the two but you could argue that even these base model suvs have better weight distribution and a lower point of gravity than most regular sporty sedans, plus instant power so in many ways they drive better than most cars and they're not even meant for high performance.
It's NOT GT. GT-Line. Actual EV6 GT makes 576hp and 546lb-ft.
wait… You're right… 2023 EV6 does have 576 HP💯
He did say that
@@jimmyr1683 lol he said that immediately
@@jimmyr1683 but the title says GT
Yes it's a little confusing the GT line is this a trim line and the GT is the performance model.
These are the only 2 EVs that really have my attention.

Nice review thanks a lot. By the way I ordered the Ioniq5 AWD I just love this car 👍😉🙃
I have had one for month now. No regrets at all. love that thing.
they raced the Model Y AWD Long Range and the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 5 was quicker.
Ummm I watched the video, Model Y vs Ioniq5 vs iPace and the Tesla destroyed them.
I would go with the EV6 myself just for the styling!
It's not only the 31 pound difference… No disrespect… But that kid can't weigh more than 110 pounds versus you LOL
😂😂😂
Thank you very much for this test. 👍🏼😉
I like it. 😎
Difference was probably the tires. It was wet so even more of an effect.
I choose kia ev6 gt
Nice game .. if u can Sam race Ev6 vs Tesla. . that would be amazing.
Thanks a lot my friend ♥️♥️
Well if it was a beauty contest the TesFlop would lose badly.
Tesla would mop the floor with any of them
@@everyelectriccars
I know Tesla is more powerful but am talking about the highest level of / kia Ev6 560hp vs Tesla (same series horsepower)
Sam already did a video of Ioniq 5 vs Jag iPace and Tesla Model Y and the Tesla walked away from both of them.
The GT EV6 is walked the Tesla performance in several videos. Tesla was looking at tail lights.
Silent cinema LOL, you really need to add subtitles. (Love them both)
It would look so cool if those screens used to fold under when the car is switched off. Would help to protect the screens as well but damn would look sweet.
Pretty sure that would be a pain if the folding mechanism breaks or malfunctions. The car would still but you can't see any info while driving.
Forget about horsepower etc..the kia looks better inside and outside

@@SamCarLegion
That's obvious 😂
Watching EVs race is like watching Lawrence Welk with the sound turned off.
I just laughed when they launch and the camera turns behind the car with zero noise hahahahaha
That is a KIA GT Line NOT a GT. They are very different cars.
Cool video, but the title is incorrect, as this Kia EV6 is not the Kia EV6 GT.
Since there is no rev battle, I think each driver should simulate an exhaust sound!
Prrrrrppppprrrrrrppppprrrrrrppppprrrrrpppp..bang bang

Ev6 will win.... haven't watched it yet tho

The Ioniq 5 could be significantly slower and I’d still pick it over the EV9. The Kia looks super confused and odd, Ioniq looks much nicer.
