That's exactly the phrase that came to my mind! I follow another youtuber who collects all kind of discarded metal people give to him or he gets from his dump. He repurposes it all into really fabulous sculptures to save it from landfills. Too bad you don't live near each other - I thought of him as soon as you showed those hinges, lol!

A suggestion for the back room: turn whatever portion where you are putting the cat door into a "catio" and block off the rest as a storeroom/work room that is properly insulated and finished out. Might save yourself some extra work, especially if you can use the catio as a mudroom coming in from the back yard.
P.S. Jaylena did an awesome job with Ember's room.😊

Especially if Jaylena intends to do canning of her garden produce she will need an insulated space to put shelving to store it. Since there’s no basement, that might be the best option.
@@2L82Sk8Bye if they make just the front area a catio/mudroom and enclose from the fireplace back, that would give both. A cat door could also be put in either the wall or door going into the storage room area.

I’ve told Jaylena how lucky I think she was for her journey to lead her to finding you. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you how lucky I think you are too, that this capable, intelligent, independent, strong, free spirited, beautiful woman walked into your life EXACTLY when she walked into your life. You two meeting was like the stars aligning. It’s so crazy but true, we sometimes don’t know what we want in life until we find it. Happy accident, that was anything but an accident. You two were meant to be. It seems you were both in exactly the right time and headspace in your lives to start sharing your lives with someone else to learn and grow together. Even if you didn’t know it at the time. You’d both done so much on your own already, that the universe made sure your paths cross because it was just time. That beautiful little Ember is a testament to that truth. Keep working on your relationship every single day and you’ll develop the fortitude and determination for longevity. Relationships aren’t always easy, they take work for the long haul. Ebbs & flows are normal and healthy. It’s the way you work it out with respect and love is what will sustain your partnership. Take it from this old(er) lady 😂 I’ve been with my husband for 27 years now, married only for 20 of them. We stayed on our own timeline and it’s worked for us. It’s not always been easy, but it’s always been worth it. Our girls are now 19 & 17 years old and we’re about to be emptynesters and be able to reconnect as only 2 once again like our early years. We’re really excited for this next phase. I’m so excited for you two starting this new journey together ♥️

I can't believe you got all that work done in such a relatively short amount of time. I was so sure there would be weeks of cleaning up. You are really making this house into a home, taking away the evidence of the previous owner and putting your own unique stamp on it. When that dumpster takes away that big pile you need to PARTY!!

Isaac, before you start tearing down that fireplace, you may want to have some one, check it out because it maybe a better heat source than the stove. Some money went into that and may just need a blower to heat the whole area. It might have been built to actually do more than he did with it! Good luck brother!

Wow. It’s going to look good! You may want to look and see if that fireplace block is filled with concrete before you start demo. If so you may want to keep it and remove the other.
You need magnet to pick up all those screws and nails. You don't need to be fixing flat tires or getting tetanus shots. You have enough to deal with at this point in time. Put the ashes in your compost, to put on your garden in the spring. It's great stuff for gardens. Chickens like to dust in it too. Things are really looking great there. You all done so much work already.

You have to remember the previous owner had the property for 35 yrs, and trying to clean it all up in the 30 days to move out im sure was overwhelming and you did get it for a much cheaper price..so it worked out for the best for the both of you. Breakfast burritos and urps made you smile❤..You guys have done a wonderful job so far. Cant wait to see all you do there.
