As an Oregonian, sadly, our state is going to hell due to our POS government giving criminals a pass on commitment crimes. When the legalized all drugs, it has geatly incredible our crime. I'd lay odds it's definitely a local. I hope you buy your neighbor a steak dinner... nowadays, it's not common for people to get involved. I definitely commend your neighbor for confronting that theif 👏 I'm truly happy knowing you have such a great neighbor. Hoping someone will recognize that guy!

Back in the 80s I had a neighbor in my building then, steel a full tank of gas I had just put in to get back and forth to work for the week...I had to get a locked gas cap

Soooo bummed that you are going through this. Advice: After dealing with permitting issues myself I can assure you, you gotta do it their way and be patient. They didn’t create the issue and have regs they follow. Patience and kindness is greatly appreciated and will go a long way toward easing your way forward. I will be following along. Put more cameras and motion lights. Get you some locking gas caps on all your vehicles. Thieves don't give up to easy and can be destructive to your personal property.

Great idea to have neighbors watching for you guys. We travel sometimes and let our neighbors know and also have a friend check out house, mail etc

Sadly it's the world we live in. With the constant cost of living rise I can't see it getting any better. All we can do is get the best security we can afford and have police on seed dial. My property at the front has a short wall and a thick hedge on top of that. The sides and back of my property has a six foot brick wall around it. I have 3 CCTV cameras and a notice on my gates but I still get the occasional trespassers. I used to go out and confront them. Now I just phone the police.

usually they drill for fuel...but some times ya get lucky...use a locking cap...but ya never know. and its always too late ..we get door jigglers walking around checking doors unlocked. good luck sir...thks for sharing..

Along with cameras and security you might want to get locking gas caps for all your vehicles . So sorry you had to go through this again . Maybe some kind of alarm you can activate from your phone ! Good thing you have great neighbors !

A tweek'g teen running from police home invaded me 11 yrs ago, middle of the day, hub at work, I was sleeping (I worked PT night shift & helped out at my disabled mom's house). Fairly quiet suburbs, working class, acre sized yards. Heard of a few car break-ins couple blocks away, but, no home invasions around here til then.
Our big lab/shep mix jumped up on the window sill, and growled, waking me. Then a retired neighbor called to warn me, just as I was rushing out the door with my big dog to go check the noise coming from the side garage door. Yikes!! Seen the handle broke off, on ground, & the door open. Suddenly, six po-po SUVs filled our long driveway. Bad boy, bad boy, whuchu gonna do....when the big badged man body slam you?
Yep, cuffed & stuffed fast!! Good neighbor watching helped.
Lesson I learned: Remember to set house alarm, lock all doors, have a trained k9, & be a good neighborhood watch.

Sorry Isaac. It sucks but it's been happening in Georgia too. Have you thought about locking them up. I know some model cars have a key to get into the gas tank. Something to look into. Praying for y'all. ❤

@lesleyhughes3174 i have 3 rescues, I also have 2 vintage VWs in my driveway, my home is the ONLY home that hasn't had anything stolen from my yard or driveway... I don't really understand what you mean? In Massachusetts you post "Beware of Dog" signs & do not trespass! Now, if you don't like dogs, that's ok., I would never tell anyone to do anything., it is their business. I really was being sarcastic. Barking Dogs really do make the best theft deterrents though.

Those creeping dudes have always been amongst us sadly, it's just worsened with tough Covid times, job loss and increase in drug use. More media to cover it, so you hear about it more.
Isaac, when my brother was on his land, he had a property boundary alarm system. If he was away or home and at night, it was activated by him. If anyone crossed over it, an alarm sounded. I don't know if your creeper entered from over the back, but it does sound like he might have. Extra security such as what I'm talking about is expensive, but for any family breaks away, gives you more peace of mind now. Thank goodness you had put up what you had and had an alert neighbout. Sadly, being on social media lays down an extra risk. Of course it shouldn't, but these creeps are everywhere and always have been. It's sifting them out of the population that's tough going. Thank you for sharing Isaac. I do think this guy knew by driving by that you were new, had maybe been successful with the past owners, so thought he'd give it a go. Hopefully he won't be back. 'Surround alarms' for your little treasure car? Lexus? All the Best 👍🙌🤞💌

And this is a Rich neighborhood so it doesn't matter where it is . This is why I want to move to the mountains far away from everybody, especially City and town.
