Hi there. I've just recently started doing Diamond Painting and have been watching all kinds of videos regarding dos and don'ts on this new hobby. I've graduated myself from small projects (coasters) to a larger project (wall pictures) and came across your video on using parchment paper sections. I tried it and it is great. Thank you so much for your help videos.
I'm so glad I found this solution! I've always just uncover, work some, and recover. But it never is sticky by the time I get close to being done. It's so frustrating!
This is so helpful, thank you! I ordered a DP kit and realized I didn't have the "white cover paper" that I've seen people adding to the canvas and slicing sections off of. But I sure do have some parchment paper in the kitchen :)
Me too, I have to complete each color separately so I was looking for tips on using parchment paper. Now that I know I can use it, I intend to make stripes and use tape to hold them down as you know it doesn't want to stick once you get a couple colors down.
I use an X-Acto knife on the plastic covers and cut very lightly so it cuts my plastic but not the canvas and it works very well for me. I’ve done it will about 50 different project and I’ve only accidentally cut a little too hard one time. It didn’t ruin it or anything, I just had to tape the back in a little spot
DIAMOND ART CLUB all the way. Can’t recommend them enough. I’ve done 10 diamond paintings by them and had. absolutely no ANYTHING on the canvas. Always completely clear of bubble, rivers ridges etc. They are also self flattening 😊💜 Also, poured glue is the way to go. The ones with double sided tape are awful
Actually depending on the parchment paper you DO need to worry about what side you put on your canvas. The paper kind WILL ruin your painting. Don’t ask how I know this lol
yeah I put some down with the wrong side and it pulled up some glue. The painting turned out just fine, and I sealed it for extra protection, but you DO have to be careful with which side you put down onto the sticky side.
I’m on my very first diamond painting, and it came with clear top. I guess I’m wierd and was doing it by color, so all the black, then another color etc. so I just cut the clear top into sections so I could just roll that part back to get to the spot I wanted to do up. But the parchment paper idea is good I guess. I wouldn’t like those opaque tops, can’t see the printing of the artwork.
Stone cold coffee crafts I think is her name said that there has been issues with em lately. She speculates that the reason we get bubbles is because there hasn't been enough force applied to the tape so she's been using a straight edge ruler to try and force the tape down better. Similar to how you might rub a peice of scotch tape to adhere it better than just laying it down. I love my precut squares of parchment paper. I'm too ocd about nice straight lines and don't want to take the effort to cut it myself nice and neatly lol
diamondpainting queen hmmm I will have to try that. Lol I was going to buy the precut ones from Costco but then was like I don’t need 1000 of them and will cut my own. Because these are coming off pretty quickly to go in the garbage I am going to just deal with their grossness hahahaha has
I just found your site. Glad. I like your voice and how you explain instructions. Your subject is what I am looking for. Tired of rolling and unrolling clear plastic that comes with my pictures. The idea of doing small areas and having measured squares over all the project make it so much easier to work. Could you not have used that white printed sheet you took off the same way? It seemed to be ok. However, so glad I found your site. Will keep looking for your tips. I am in Ontario, Canada.
I learned that the plastic cover is one way, luckily it did not ruin my painting and I now stick a sticker to the cover. That way I know which way is up. It was my first painting and although I didn't ruin my canvas some of the glue looked different after I pulled the plastic back up. Now I am sticking to parchement paper to section my cover. My paper comes in a pack of ten 30 cm by 30 cm sheets that are simply folded in half and not in a roll. I get mine at dollarama which is a canadian dollar store.
That's a good idea. You make it look easy to do. I will try this too . I did it before but I didn't do it right. Now I know how to do it with your video
It is such a game changer with being able to work in sections easier - at least for me. Just make sure to use parchment paper and cut it bigger than your cover sheet lol
I just make a grid on the cover with a sharpie or a regular pen and work on a section at a time. Works just as well at least with the double-sided tape. I use non-stick parchment paper on the clear cover.
Question for you I missed up the plastic covering for my painting my question is can you use parchment paper in place Of the cover sheet and then section it off if so what can I use to keep it in place while I draw my lines
As always, enjoyed this video. I do it the lazy way lol. I bought a 500 sheet pack of pre-cut parchment paper pieces. They are the size you would you to put between hamburger patties. I've done about 3 inches on this same canvas for drills and chills. Lots of confetti for a little painting. Ever moment has never disappointed me. What happened to the Broncos? Argh. My BF is a die-hard fan.
Lori Luvs Montana you know, I was going to get that pack from Costco and then said to myself, what am I going to do with 1000 sheets??? Somehow it being on a roll to me made more sense at the time lol Girl...the Broncos are struggling!!! But it is only week 1 🤣🤣
I just came across your channel. I like the parchment paper idea but I'm curious....why don't you just take the release sheet that came covering the canvas and just cut that up in the smaller squares like you did with the parchment paper? Is there a difference?
I did use parchment paper and not wax, and it got stuck to my artwork. I had a hard time pulling it off. It like glue itself to my artwork. Did i miss a step? Maybe i need michael's Parchment. I am grateful for any advice.
What about if you are someone who does all one color at a time? Can you cut stripes of parchment and use tape on the edge to hold them down without ruining your canvas? I have an issue with lots of dust and pet hair especially once I've done a couple colors and had to peel the top off several times so it doesn't wanna stick back down then. I was hoping to use the parchment to keep it covered between sessions.
Parchment paper is no problem, it depends which way up you do it. Put it on the canvas as it comes off the roll. The problem is the otherside. But, I saw it solved by using alcohol
I am a total newbie so I have possibly a silly question. In this instance instead of cutting up the parchment paper, whey didn't you just pull that opaque cover off, cut it up and replace onto the painting?? Maybe I missed something. Suggestions or comments??
Hey Sally, bit late but maybe you're still interested. You can slightly see through parchment paper, which you can't with the other paper. That might be the reason for replacing it.
I have a ? I missed up my plastic cover on my painting can I use parchment paper As a cover and section it off if so how can I secure it so it doesn't move when I draw my lines
I think as long as it is parchment paper and not wax paper you should be ok....but I am not knowledgeable about the brown color parchment so I would maybe test it out on a small portion of your painting to see before you cover the whole area.....
Has anyone else had their sections just stick? Like I use parchment paper but it’s like I try to peel off a sticker and there is still a lot of residue
Keri Ellson honestly I am not sure - I lay all mine flat in a drawer once I put the parchment paper on it. I have heard that parchment paper may not be great long term, but so far I have not had an issue with any of my canvases.
I just watched a video where she has stored a canvas with parchment paper on it under a piece of heavy glass for around a year. The pieces came off without tearing and the canvas was still sticky
Hi. I’m in uk too. Yes they are the same thing. Parchment paper has silicone heat resistance added and that’s only difference. I bought a ZeZaZu box of 500 sheets, 14x14 cm sheets which is nice cause you can work in small sections. They are parchment sheets. But yes parchment is the same as our greaseproof paper minus the heat treatment. The square sheets are a lot easier than using a roll. Hope this helps. I completely remove the clear plastic cover and replace with parchment sheets 😊
I tried the parchment paper ... Just a *** note*** there are 2 kinds of parchment paper one is non - stick and one that is NOT non stick read the packaging it's a must ..really!!!! I was surprised to find this out...the use of the wrong parchment paper can be disastrous make sure to double and triple check whicom0
I'm new to your channel i saw this awhile ago with someone else and I bought thousand squares parchment sheets off of Amazon and I did what you did and I ruined 2 of my paintings (I did them at the same time) I couldn't get the paper off watching you I did the same thing I'm at loss any ideas

I use parchment too but score the top with pencil and cut with exacto knife very lightly while on top. Works great. Lift secrions off as i go
Am new to diamomond painting and this is something I was wondering about so thankful for finding your video thank you
I'm so glad I found this solution! I've always just uncover, work some, and recover. But it never is sticky by the time I get close to being done. It's so frustrating!
I’m a newbie and this is a lifesaver! Thank you
Thanks for validating that i can use parchment paper.
thanks for the advice! works so much easier than the plastic cover that comes with it.

OMG I love this idea just starting out and just want to do small areas at a time
Thank you! Working on my first and the clear sheet ripped!
I am working on my first diamond painting and this idea has been so helpful. Thank you!
I do my diamond painting by color not by section. I hate having more than one color open.. But this would still make sense.
I'm like you; one color at a time! My brain just prefers that way.
Me too, I have to complete each color separately so I was looking for tips on using parchment paper. Now that I know I can use it, I intend to make stripes and use tape to hold them down as you know it doesn't want to stick once you get a couple colors down.
Oh wow! I would go crazy not switching up the colors. Lol
This is a life saver. Thank you so much!
I’m getting ready to start my first diamond painting and this was very helpful, thank you!
Love everything about this.

Totally agree. DAC has my heart and won't let go. I absolutely cannot stand double sided adhesive. It's terrible!
Why they’re awful?
Too overpriced.

That's why I clicked on the video. I put the wrong side on and now I think my frogged is done for 😭
What side do u out it on?
Yup I tried it too
Thanks for doing this video. I will definitely try this.

Dollar Tree sells squares of parchment paper for a dollar. This is how im doing mine.🌻✌
I will be doing this it makes things so much easier

I use parchment paper too but I get my roll at the Dollar tree or other dollar stores so cheap and works great
How exciting! I bought this DP. You recorded this video four months ago so I hope this is one you will DP on your channel.
Thank you You explained really well, I been doing ok with the plastic covers, but the new ones are coming with paper cover
I learned that the plastic cover is one way, luckily it did not ruin my painting and I now stick a sticker to the cover. That way I know which way is up. Pam you are the best! I bet your life is just right for you 😘
I put my cover back on keep dirty off at keep diamond clear to i frame them
Thank you so much. This was so very helpful for me!
I have never done the parchment paper method but after watching you I think I will try it!! Thanks for sharing!!✌💖
Donna Mayo it was such a game changer for me - hope that it works as great for you 😊😊
I need to start doing this method because cutting that regular white paper is so annoying.
Whitney Diamond Paints I agree, I hate that white paper(and the clear paper lol).
Hi may i ask if can reuse parchment paper for another diamond painting? Hope for the answer thank you.
I just make a grid on the cover with a sharpie or a regular pen and work on a section at a time. Works just as well at least with the double-sided tape. I use non-stick parchment paper on the clear cover.

I just came across your channel. I like the parchment paper idea but I'm curious....why don't you just take the release sheet that came covering the canvas and just cut that up in the smaller squares like you did with the parchment paper? Is there a difference?
I was just wondering the same thing. Then you would only need parchment paper for the overlap areas it did not cover
I will try. Good sharing for beginner like me. Tq....
I did use parchment paper and not wax, and it got stuck to my artwork. I had a hard time pulling it off. It like glue itself to my artwork. Did i miss a step? Maybe i need michael's Parchment. I am grateful for any advice.

Link to best Parchment paper? Can it be used both sides? I need paper for wrapping my completed diamond paintings
i use it on all my dps
Thank you for sharing
Très utile façon de fonctionner. Pas besoin d tout mesurer.
ok got a question went to buy parchment paper found white and brown can both be used or just white?
Will Walmart brand work if it is the nonstick kind?

I dont have parchment paper,im available here is sticker paper..how is the proper use to sectioning?
Release papers seem easier. No knife, washi tape, etc.
Omg i am so OCD my paper is going to have to be the same size . LOL
Is greaseproof ( non stick ) paper ok ??
Is wax paper and parchment the same thing
No..parchment you can put in oven and wax paper you can't
I accidentally used the papery side and ruined part of my canvas anyone know any fixes
Question once u put the parchment paper on can you roll the diamond paintings?

Good luck everyone ❤️❤️❤️👁️❤️💎🖌️
Oh that is good to know - I had no idea! I guess I have been really lucky getting the correct kind then 🤣😘
Thank you. I tried this and my parchment wouldn’t stick. I thought I had lost my mind.
We need ....which one??
Can I use normal paper instead of parchment paper?? Cause I dont have parchment paper
No it will stick to the glue and will be useless
Just curious , How come do we put parchment paper in squares and not just a whole paper of parchment paper , why do we cut it in squares ?
So she can work in small sections which is why the cover sheet was replaced.
It goes faster with stripes not squares
couild i also use wax paper
No
I did this and now the parchment paper is stuck to my canvas. Won’t do this again
pretty much like baking paper
Anyone ever used freezer paper?
I'm new to your channel i saw this awhile ago with someone else and I bought thousand squares parchment sheets off of Amazon and I did what you did and I ruined 2 of my paintings (I did them at the same time) I couldn't get the paper off watching you I did the same thing I'm at loss any ideas
Are you sure it wasn't wax paper.
So you put the diamond paper on top and that's it nothing else this ticket like that and that's it
I need get this i do not like page on them
That is too much work. They make burger sized parchment paper. Buy a pack of those and put the scissors away.
Can this be more boring, watching you cut paper. This video could have been much shorter.
Waste of time and money. Just use a craft knife and cut the current cover into sections.
It’s the same thing lol
Could you not cut up the paper before the video? Boring.
