- Found this as I transfer old 70s&80s VHS to my Mac. Can see a few of the songs online but not 17mins. Apologies if it exists already. Classic Jim and the band.

Simply brilliant at this point best band ever
Just so raw and brilliant. I saw them at Glasgow Uni in 1978, what a great night. When we were all youngsters, life was edgy and exciting. Getting the train in to the ‘Toon’ from East Kilbride, with no idea how we’d get back home.
It didn’t matter then.
So cool. I remember convincing the bouncer at the Hacienda I was 18 to see these guys so that must have been 1981. Their heyday. Truly amazing band. So original.
You can really hear the Howard Devoto/Magazine influence this early on.

I hear Jim Morrison, Doors influence too.... but still an original Mnds sound
They were referred to as the poor man’s Magazine at the time.
@@neilmaclean294 Well they did support Magazine, before I beieve they released Real To Real . But Empires and Dance showed great creativity.

I was a massive metalhead around this time but these guys really stood out as something totally different.

Super this old material from their heydays....they produced so many powerfull songs between 79 and 83....

To think that just 3 years later they were playing Waterfront. I don't know if any other band has undergone such a seismic change in such a short space of time.
Big wow. Just one or two years before their great breakthrough with their sublime Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination and New Gold Dream era. That's when their GREAT TIMES happened.
I was with them play four times playing live in 1983 and 1984. Great times. Thanks Alan for this unique upload of 17'01 minutes of a great band live just before their prime!

There was always something trundly and hammered together about the Minds in those days. I like them for that.
young and learning and clunky- but still creating magic, laying the foundation for future anthems style. And they were hotties in this era too LoL.
