I am so glad to have found you! Your homeschool style and personality are exactly like mine, it’s rare to find in homeschool moms!! Thank you so much for making these videos!
Love your channel! Great and helpful video. I was wondering (and maybe you have done this before, and could link me?) would you consider doing a video on the readers and chapter books your kids have loved… and if you have any sensitive kids I would really love to hear the books that they enjoyed. Also, will you do a cottage press flip through video? Thanks for your videos! I have been following you for awhile! And love your channel
Have you found it to be redundant at all to do both TGTB LA and AAR for 1st grade? We are currently doing AAR 2, First language lessons 1 and Writing with Ease 1. But I thought about dropping FLL and WWE (because they feel a bit dry) to do TGTB. But the level 1 table of contents made it look like most of that level in TGTB would be phonics. Did you find that to be the case? Not wanting to confuse my kiddo if they aren't matching. But wanting to find a good grammar/writing component. May just stick with FLL and WWE, but curious if you have any thoughts on that!
I was looking at doing AAR, but my biggest issue was the cost. So we went with tgatb and my daughter has done great with it. There is so many choices, lol.
@@JoyfulNoiseLearning if I could have found it used and affordable I probably would have gone with it. 😊 I am happy with what we're using for now though.
Would love a flip through w/ your thoughts on MWC Gr2, now that it has released :) My son is struggling with RightStart and would love your opinion on it. Looking at this or CLE.
My sons are seven and 12 and they have very different ability than interests. I think I need to do two unit studies. Do you have you have ideas on running something like that?
That's a GREAT question! That's a big gap... I think you could try doing them together, but the other thing is to have something independent for your 12 year old, and you work with your 7 year old. That way you are not doing two yourself. I am trying that this year. My 13 year old is mostly independent, and I do studies with my 8 and 10 year old. The best thing I do is pick a topic, search for books at the library on this topic, and search for UA-cam videos on the topic. And then we just go through each of the books and videos. :) You can have your kiddos do a presentation or project at the end to show what they learned. Make a lap book, or write or draw something, or make a slide show if they are techy.
Hi, thank you for sharing; my son is also heading into 2nd grade. Do you happen to have a few book (reader) recommendations for this age? My son reads well but he’s not super excited to read.
Yes! My son has loved these series: The Last Firehawk (he just read the last one) The Littles Dog Man (I let him get these once a month, not all the time, but they are good for getting kids interested in reading) Bird and Squirrel is a new graphic novel series Jesse Bear Fizz the Police Dog (We just found, and he loves it!)
I couldn’t figure out how to fit it in 😫😫 I was doing so much with our group morning time, that I realized I couldn’t squeeze this in with my youngest.
Thanks so much for sharing your picks with us again! Always so helpful 😊 my daughter is also going into second grade and this is our first year homeschooling. I’ve been doing a lot of research to see what we might like to start with. For language arts I’ve decided to do all about reading, all about spelling and IEW bible heroes. In your opinion, would that be too much or do you think it’s all necessary? My son is also starting kindergarten and I’ve decided to do all about reading with him, but no IEW or all about spelling this year.
I used AAR 2, AAS 1, IEW’s PAL writing (comes before BIble Heroes) with my 3rd grader this year. We spent 15 minutes on each per day. It was a lot for him but he did learn a lot. All were good but in the end we abandoned all three because I have five other children and 45 minutes per day for just language arts for one student was not sustainable for us. All three programs are very teacher intensive.
@@freelandtr oh wow! You’re a strong mama! I have just the two and I’m already overwhelmed haha 😅 but that’s what I’m a little worried about also. Getting burned out with all of them. I guess I’ll have to try it out and see how it goes. 45 min for LA a day with 6 kids would be very intense. Thank you for your advise Tabitha I appreciate it ❤️ God bless and good luck to you.
Yes, good thoughts, Tabitha!! It does sound like a lot. You could do it if you don’t do each of those every day. That’s my secret if I want to do a few curriculia- split them up by days. AAR 3x a week, AAS 2-3x a week, and Bible Heros 1x a week would be my suggestion. ☺️
@@JoyfulNoiseLearning actually that’s a great idea hah I didn’t even think of that! Thanks Ashley! I need to get out of the mindset that everything needs to be done everyday lol
This all looks great! Would love more of a looking into the Rod and Staff Spelling Level 2 and the Cottage Press LA if you decide on those:)
I love seeing what ever one is using for the up comming school year.

Thank you!! Glad you are here 😁😁😁🎉💗👏🏻
We loved Math With Confidence last year too! It's the only subject that was easy for me to choose this year, ha!
Yay! It's so great, huh?!
I would like a video on how you plan your unit studies and I would love more information on the cottage press?
Thanks for sharing your choices. Will look into the handwriting book.

We just finished Math with Confidence Grade 1 and LOVED it. We switched from Saxon and MWC was hands down such a better fit for us.
Yay!! 👏🏻
Great choices!
Enjoyed watching this

Yes, so true! I get that it’s pricey. I bought it used and I have been using it with all three kids 😉

Okay! I have a Right Start & Math With Confidence comparison video coming out tomorrow!

I considered Cottage Press, but it doesn’t go very far grade level wise. So I didn’t want to have to change again in such a short time.
I have friends that love CP for their high schoolers :)
TGTB definitely more a traditional curriculum then Charlotte Mason. We usually skip the readers. 😅❤️

Ok great! Thank you😀

Is the math with confidence kind of a common core curriculum approach? Just curious
I don’t think it is… but on Kate Snow’s website she can better answer that.
How old is he now? THanks
He is 6yo now. He’ll be 7 in early August.

I agree w/ TGTB not being very Charlotte Mason. Also not fans of their readers.
My son did not like the readers from The Good and the Beautiful at all.
No more Guinea pig child! Your last is always the easiest to figure out curriculum. I mean.... I assume so. I haven't hit my last kid yet. 😅
HA HA! Yeah, you've got a while. ;) And my youngest has definitely been the easiest. It could be his personality, though.
