Got the 1947 LVCs and a bunch of LVC 50s tshirts. Love the LVC clothing I didn’t think a lot of people were into this stuff. Thank goodness I’m not alone😂 My wife thinks I’m a bit of a fashionista but I actually just like the 30s, 40s and early 50s. I’m a history nut.
since you understand is not fashion is way above that , few people understand the cultural background for these garment pieces with the 501 is more than a pair of jeans is an statement
Hi, it kind of depends how you want them to fit and what model jeans you’re getting. Each model fits a bit different. If you want a more fitting pair get the 36, if looser go with the 38. You can always hot water soak for more shrinkage.
I have an odd question for my girlfriend. Her Dad has his Grandfathers single pocket Levis jacket and 2 pairs of 501's without belt loops. Who should she email to have them appraised?
@@derekdoeschannel I'm not sure. The only thing I know about them is he bought the 2 jeans and the jacket 1 month before he was drafted into the army for WW1 in 1917. He moved from PA to CA in 1916 to do logging. I'm a logger so my girlfriend decided I have to know all about this stuff. Which I don't.
@@johnvelas70 Well if they're a size 42 or so, I'd wear them! (for me that is). But you have probably quite a few thousands of dollars worth of Levi's. Depending on condition of course. The 501's are probably in the 3-4K range each. The jacket is probably the same. They only go up with years so unless you need the money now I'd hang on to them. Amazing you still have them. Send some pics of them to my email. (on my page.). Thanks!
Thanks. I didn't measure them but they did shrink up. Usually it's about an 1 inch or less in the waist and and 1-2 in length on a hot soak. But the waist will stretch out a bit with wear, the legs don't though. Bigger sizes will have more shrinkage just because there is more fabric to shrink. Check google as there are a lot of guys that have done before and after measurements.
@@derekdoeschannelso in your expertise, if I’m 28 in average Levi’s & other brands of denim jeans , would you recommend I get brand new 29-30? & also if I buy a used pair washed once only (it shrunk to my size ) whenever I end up washing again will it get smaller or not really ?? Thanks in advance 😁
@@SlasherGuyy1 if they’re selvedge raw then probably go up one size although a 28 won’t shrink as much as say a 36. Less denim to shrink. If washed no issue. The waist isn’t going to shrink that much so it also depends on if you want them tighter or looser.
@@derekdoeschannel ah okay ! I didn’t know that about the less cotton less shrinkage thank you :) & also so more of the inseam maybe shrinking a little ?

Sounds like we're the same on fashion. You'd be surprised how many LVC fans are out there. Thanks for watching!

I love the fit on those, have one pair and they are soon comfortable. Keep with the good work.
Thanks! They're a great pair for the collection!
First vid of yours I’ve ever seen 10 seconds in and I’m already subscribed!
Thank you!
thanks i might get a pair 135 great price. i live in london so great for me
Yes, worth the look for sure
I think you can see the week and year of production on the label inside, just after "CW". In the case of this 1937 501, It would be week 2 of 2021
Thanks!
Hello Derek, I have a question. If I’m a size 35-36 waist. Should I get a pair of 36 and cold soak them or should I get a pair of 38? Thank you.

Hi, great pieces to own. I don't know who to contact for appraisals. what do the tags say on them?

Sorry but they are a 32" waist (fit me) & cut off at the bottom for safety to about 22" or 23".
