Possums are actually one of the few animals who can't carry rabies because of their body temp so as wild marsupials go they're probably one of the most harmless. But I did think it was weird the possum was out during the day...maybe it got knocked off its regular routine cuz of the Predator. 😂 Anyway pardons, couldn't help defending possums, love your reactions! ❤️
You both are young. Or am I old? My opinion, Amber MidThunder is like Ripley from Alien and Aliens. Ripley saw and fought the original Alien. The Colonial Marines don't believe her and get slaughtered. Ripley has to the Queen and save the little girl. The men always underestimate the power of women.
Actually no nothing to do with it. He was supposed to be only in two scenes following the script. But the crew liked him so much he was worked into the movie more bc it was a rescue they got for the movie and trained on the spot. It wasn't a professional dog trainer who rented out his dog and gave him directions.
The helmet had a targeting system and she saw when it was fighting her brother and had lost its helmet,. that the projectile it fires targeted one of the red lasers. That is how she knew and why she set the helmet up to get the Predator into that spot for her trap, using his helmet against him.
one thing i will say is the brother was never over confident, he knew full well what he was capable of and accepted his death when the predator cloaked, i like to think he is the reason they came back to hunt more humans and evolved in to more cunning hunters
exactly, he beat the predator and the predator had to run, there was nothing the brother could do and he knew he couldn’t beat it because it was no longer fair
Brother you are absolutely right in your comment only that I differ in your last dialogue, it is 300 years before the first predator is. Logical to think that their technology was older but light years away from humanity at that time of the film, I doubt that it was because of the humans that their technology evolved, I think that it is rather because of the tribes, as you said in your comment different aspects different technologies,
I thought the brother went out like a Boss. Actually, most of the Native American Warriors did. To give credit, a lot of the French fur traders did as well. Yes many of them were caught by surprise or tried to run. But others went toe to toe, though clearly not as effective as the Indigenous warriors. - I also liked that they showed those hand-to-hand fights. As great as Predator is, I always was disappointed that we never got to see the fight with Billy and it seemed to be over too quickly. Same thing with the character King Willy. I think that was his name. You see them face off, then you see him holding King Willy's head. Missed opportunities there.
whenever they try to make a point to "ooh shes oppressed and shes strong and independent and better than even god but we didn't know, wow we learned our lesson now" my brain goes somewhere else but it was a little bit compare to what hollywood makes every time
A few facts: Predators have an honor system, they never kill an unarmed person, children, women (especially if they are pregnant) or those that have some kind of disability, cuz they are naturally weaker and pose no threat/challenge. They only hunt the biggest, strongest threat on a planet. The main reason is that it gives them mating rights (as explained in the comics), the predator with the best trophies has the best chance to get chosen by a female. They look for the best predator so that he can spread his genes and make the species stronger. Love your reaction. Hope you continue with this franchise (and Alien as well)
The Predator (or Yautja) society is also run by a Matriarchy. The females are far bigger and stronger than the males. The males who earn the right to mate do so through a deadly group mating/hunting ritual, where the female rip, tear, and crush the males.
@@btqy Yea but that guy was already an enemy. He did not find him randomly, he sliced off his leg during the previous fight but the guy managed to escape. He just finished the job.
Naru was easily my favorite Predator franchise character. I loved how she was always learning, observing, calculating and educating herself and she used all this to her advantage and outsmarted a technologically-advanced being using his own tech. The Predators on the mother ship must be so embarrassed after seeing that.
@@demongawl not the only one but yea it took me bit out of the film and felt more like superhero film... Also the predator jumping trough the trees was kinda meh and it took so much damage that made him look kinda mediocre
@@schwartzy65 So one of the theories that seems to bear weight is this was either a young predator or the species 300 years in the past hadn't fully become the apex hunters we know them to be in other films. It made a lot of mistakes throughout the film in terms of fighting multiple adversaries at once instead of picking them off one at a time, etc. Had this been the predator from the original film (with all that tech, too) I don't think there would have been any survivors. That's not to diminish the accomplishments of Naru and her brother, as they did the best they could with what they had.
@@L3GIQN I didn’t notice it and wondered why the brother said she had wounded him and how she did it. I like how even though she froze a little with the lion and tree scenario she was able to succeed when she did it to the Predator. I loved that scene a lot.
What I love about “Prey” is that it’s themes are universal. Naru’s story is more than just a woman who wants to be a hunter. She’s someone who wants to be more than what her tribe expect her to be. She respects her traditions, but doesn’t want to be beholden to them. Her story is relatable because how many of us want to be more than what our families and society expect us to be? How many of us have had go against the norm to be who we truly want to be? I love the fact that Naru isn’t successful in the beginning, just like none of us are. But just like her we don’t give up on what is worth doing. We stand back up and try again. “Prey” is still a kick ass action film, don’t get me wrong, but the fact that they were able to subtly put in such a relatable message into a Predator film is amazing!
Damn this movie was WAY better than I was expecting it to be. First movie for a while where I’ve been stressed out the whole time because of how intense it all is
@@favoritecrime4803 how is their race relevant to their reaction in any way? just say you're a fucking racist and you are out here looking for dumb, random reasons to throw hate at white people ahahah
This movie was freaking awesome, I put it second behind the original on my Predator franchise chart. This woman is a Warrior/Herbalist of a Comanche tribe and has trained to hunt, she was always pushed to the side until this moment. Bottom line....NEVER UNDERESTIMATE someone's looks or size as a Warrior.☯️☯️☯️
It's an improvement on the last Predator which was a disaster a good low budget film but nowhere near teh first, 2nd and 3rd for me. The CGI was very weak and I didn't like the look of the Predator at all. He died to quickly in the end for me but this film gives me hope for a better coming film with a higher budget. I really loved the 1st, 2nd and 3rd but I'm giving this an ok 5/12 to 6 out of 10. Can't see what the fuss is about the way people builded it up a very slow film which ended with the Predator being killed off to quickly for me. The acting was spot on whereas the acting in the last Predator was terrible in places.
You got it right. Alien VS Predator was a guilty pleasure film. Not the best, but we fans enjoyed it a lot. I know I did. They did it for the fans. I actually thought it was pretty good for what it was.
One of the things I love most about this movie is the level of athleticism from the predator shown here. We have not seen a predator in motion like this before and it's awesome.
To me, this one ranks number 2 behind only the original Predator. The Native Peoples/historical angle was cool and different, as well as a female protagonist, setting it apart from the other sequels. I also thought Amber Midthunder was fantastic as the lead. Btw, the director said the scene where she killed the Frenchmen holding her dog was a "oner" (a single shot, made without cuts) so that was all Amber, there was no stuntperson as one of you mentioned.
re: Naru weakening the lion... I feel like EVERYONE keeps missing this in all the reactions I watch, but she does in fact spear the lion right in the ribs as she's falling, but it happens so fast everyone keeps missing it haha Also disagree with a lot of comments re: which predator to watch first. The Predator "lore" doesn't really matter. The thing that made the predator cool in the first movie AND in this movie is what you DON'T know about the predator and are finding out as you go. You don't need a lot of lore. That's beside the point. This is a boxing match. Man (woman) vs alien. Our champion vs their champion. Hunter vs hunter. The predator is treating our planet like The Coliseum. That's all you need. This is the first movie since the original to get it right. Forget the rest.
Nah mate. This is way more than a mid movie for me. To me this ranks up there as top 3 of my favorite Predator movies. It was beautifully shot, had some awesome scenes, and despite having little dialog it manage to tell a well enough story. Albeit it is simple one, but it was good enough for what it wanted to do.
To me the first part, before the predator enters into play, was teh best part of the movie. The quality decreased after that gradually. Overall a good movie, but not great. Had the quality remained constant, I would have classified it as a great.
I watched this with my mom and she's a huge Predator fan. She's half Native American and loved this movie but she says Predators is still her favorite. She does love Adrien Brody. I had to explain this end fight a little to her but she already wants to watch it again, and I think this has that going for it, good rewatch ability.
The original PREDATOR movie is just cheesey action. No acting, no story and a big movie star sold tickets. Be a sheep and buy movie tickets because of a steroid man is popular.
I love that this movie doesn't treat the protagonist as a Mary Sue. This was easily in my top 2 or 3 favorite "Predator" movies. Also the cinematography and directing is top notch. Such an incredible film, especially for this type of genre and the franchise in general.
No wrong the helmet has a laser sight on it. When using the arrow blaster it the helmet let’s off the the sight. But the laser was shining on the predators head.
To me the plot line of the Prey becoming a predator was interesting. She’s not Apex, she’s not considered a threat or a hunter. It’s when she realizes she can use her knowledge to her advantage she becomes a predator. Very smart writing. She’s observing and taking in every nugget of knowledge she can during the course of the story. Then she strikes back. Noice.
Did you realise that the concept of her "low blood temperature invisibility" against a Predator who DOES NOT WEAR HIS BIOMASK is a childish mistake indicative of totally bad and unprofessional writing??
Being an Ojibway native from Canada it made me SO happy to see our culture accurately represented to a good degree. I love when the predator fights anybody but it's always fun when you see a bit of yourself in them too!
Unless you live in tents and hunt like them, you "being an Ojibway native" means nothing. It's like a Sami person in Norway which lives outside of their native area, they're just a regular person that cast away their past.
@@OriginalPuro Thats gotta be the dumbest thing iv ever heard lol its still his ancestry the logic that you have to live exactly the same way or place as your ancestors did to be proud of it or you're throwing it away is a joke
Somebody needs to, you're humiliating yourself. Native American tribes don't all share the same cultural heritage... not even close. As an "Ojibway native" you should know that son.😏😏@@justicethompson7429
@@CapraDemon101 2nd one i agree. I hated the human cast members. First one was ok ( killed 2 Yautja in like 2 mins😮💨)(why......)(pg-13 why)..... (3rd act 👏🏿).
The smart-arrows home in on the laser dots. It's not that the helmet sensed a weapon. It's that the weapon sensed the laser dots. Also, I think this one is a young unblooded of the Bad Bloods, given that it seems much more inexperienced than even the ones in AvP, and has that physical style more reminiscent of the separate clan from Predators. While the ones in AvP are teenagers on the cusp of manhood, this one is a gradeschooler on a field trip.
The American Indians of the Great Plains (There were a bunch) were all very war like back in the day. And were more or less Horse Lords as well. Much like the Mongolians. The Producer of this show is also a member of the Commanche Nation, so she really made it her mission to make it as realistic as possible.
@@abbyanderson2463 I've used that term when speaking with other Natives, but I don't use it a lot myself. Either American Indian or Native American is my preference.
I think the main reason we don't see many Native American movies is because it forces people to confront what was done to them and their land. The truth can be ugly and hard to take.
Keep sharing, reviewing, and rating and talking about sequels so we can get more to this story and eventually work up to more deadly predators. Let’s go for the ride and see how they follow up. Good movie with Prey! Now let’s keep it going guys
Interesting. I loved this one. In fact, I liked it better than the first Predator. Just shows everyone has different tastes. To me this one was more intriguing and had better acting as well as scenery.
True the bro was a great hunter and warrior for sure but not fighting fair? The cloak is a tool they brought along for the hunt, it's like if you told Taabe to not use a spear or a bow and arrow cause it's not fair against a lion.
Just a FYI - Amber was born in the Navajo state, but is a citizen of the Sioux state and is a native American. So glad that they cast a native and honoured their culture. I really enjoyed Prey - it's my equal 2nd fave film in the entire dynasty, with Predator 2, but behind Predator. I do think Predator 2 did things better, but lost out cos the Alien wasn't new. If Predator 2 had come first, and audiences were new to it all, it would have been, imho, preferred to the original Predator, which had, imho, inferior acting and script and characters.
Oh the cinematography just breathtaking it visually places your minds eye right there. The acting the story the pacing the cultural aspect everything is amazing . Best movie this year by a long way
I thought this movie was great. Definitely not your typical predator story but I loved the very human elements involved. Especially liked the fight with the bear. It showed how freakin' strong these guys are.
Predators go after the DNA in the spinal cord as well as the head for the trophy so that's why they take both they take the DNA in the spinal cord and check into themselves and they take the head as a trophy
Regarding the snake: Venomous snakes can still strike for hours after their heads have been cut off. If you get too close to the heat-sensing pits, they are still active, even after the snake is dead.
A series should be based on the Yautja Ghost. He's only a figurine but his backstory is that he hunts Bad Bloods after his entire village was slaughtered by a group of them at random. Could be like Primal. Animated with no dialogue.
5:15 A predator goes to other planets to hunt and become respected in his own world. Basically what Naru did during the movie trying to hunt her first pray.
Right!? It's like take the 5 minutes to learn the basic facts of the predator's motives from past movies, wikipedia, etc..before going in to this movie. Her questions were just the worst
It's probably her gut reactions while watching a movie though, she probably did figure out everything afterwards. Why judge her based on knee jerk reactions while watching a movie? Bit harsh.
@@vektorcraft9904 why should anyone have to do homework before watching a movie?? maybe it's more the filmmaker's fault for not providing better explanations for non-fans. This is supposed to be the prequel, right? For first timers to the franchise they would probably expect to get the info they need from this prequel so that they can appreciate the next ones in the series. Or, if it's absolutely necessary to watch Predator first to even understand this movie, then the filmmakers should have put up a title card instructing that at the beginning of the movie.
@@sickleweed3270 Or, hear me out. Her husband who’s sitting right next to her should’ve explained the basics to her since he’s seen the movies. Also, yes. If you’re going to watch one movie of a series you’ll need to have seen at least the original. It’s a prequel, that means it didn’t come out until AFTER the original. That means you should watch the original first and then the prequel. That’s common sense
i'm french and i didn't undestand what trappers said. But the accent is from Quebec, closer to the french of this time. So lets say time accurate, fine to me. :)
Alien, Aliens and Predator are absolute masterpieces. Would love to see you guys do a reaction video for each of them. Prey was a good film, I'd put it after Predator 2 in my opinion
A lion got him. I’m impressed dos Cavazos with the knowledge you gaining here. I don’t want to spoil but I like the more primal look of the of this predator something different. The arrows it used were different no plasma cannon. That bear gave him a run for his money baloo wasn’t playing lol

I told my wife: I wish everyone in the world cared about me like they do this dog! 😁 I adopted a rez dog 5 years ago, and she is the best dog ever. Really smart, and loyal. I love her. There are over 300k stray dogs on the Navajo reservation. You can find organizations like Black Hat you can work with to adopt. Well worth it, and not expensive. Look them up.
Such a great movie, especially if you watch it with headphones. Easily one of the best movie out this year, I rate it 4/5. The only thing that I didn’t like is that I wish they used the native language more and added translation subtitles
WE FINALLY HAVE A GENUINELY AMAZING PREDATOR MOVIE SINCE THE FIRST ONE!!!! Don’t get me wrong, I really like Predator 2 and Predators, but this one doesn’t just beat them, it kills them, rips out their skulls and spines, and hangs them on its wall. Not only did it have intense action sequences, but both the director and writer managed to perfectly balance that tightrope of tension by both showing that this Predator is a truly terrifying and formidable threat while also not making him OP with his weaponry, thereby giving the people a fighting chance. On top of that I absolutely LOVED the portrayal of the Comanche Nation. Showing how they were and still are some of the best fighters, best horse riders and best hunters that have ever lived, while also showing how close knit of a community they are. I really loved how they went back and forth between English and Comanche when speaking with each other, next time I see this movie I’m watching the Comanche Cut where they speak Comanche throughout the whole movie. But my favorite part of this movie is seeing the story of Naru. She is honestly one of the most tenacious and badass characters I have seen in action or sci-fi movies in a long time. Amber Midthunder managed to be as much of a badass as freaking Arnold Schwarzenegger! And thank god they didn’t kill that adorable dog 🐕!
@@willemaq thank you! So many people are dismissive of Naru because she is like 8 weight classes below the Predator, but as a very wise man once said “size matters not”.
@@thedarkknight2221 Of course it does there's a female lead, we haven't had a decent Predator movie in years and it has cool a@@ native americans it got a high score before it even came out 8).
Fun fact for most people that watch this movie and don’t know that quick Sandy type stuff the main character fell in is referred to as a Muskeg. A Muskeg is a North American swamp or bog consisting of a mixture of water and partly dead vegetation, frequently covered by a layer of sphagnum or other mosses. We have a lot of those here in Canada which is where this movie was shot as well.
There's some things you should know about the predator and this movie, the part where the predator just walks past naru he didn't see her because the medicine she took makes her body cold which the predator only sees people thru heat signature which. For the predators, they come to earth to hunt for sport and to see who is a worthy prey, if they fight honorably the predator rips out its skull for trophy, if it finds its worthy opponent it would take off its mask and fight without weapons, however it has its limits and their own code, if a person defeats a predator in combat or by intelligence, another predator will drop by and honor that person, they won't just kill for revenge they respect them, and if they see people unarmed or injured they won't kill them because the predator does not see them as a threat, and does not kill children.
Fun fact: The breed of dog in this movie is Carolina Dog AKA American Dingo! They were used by natives all across the United States for thousand of years. You can still find breeders and dogs of this variety today. Just be aware that they are super smart, mischievous, and energetic if you decide to take one home.
this movie was brilliant its an early predator compared to what we're used to.. he built up his Prey from wolf to bear to human. when they used arrows he added them and used when they used spears he used spears.
I mean it's kind of cute for me that after I watch a lot of peoples react to this movie, I found out basically there is no one really care about humans life but people all really really really care about the fate of the dog.🤣
I noticed that too. Me and my family felt remorse, and while some had it coming the manner of death is gruesome 😬 I didn't want the dog to die but after the brother died I was like "I take it back! Why couldn't it be the brother that lived and the dog die 😭" I know it sounds mean but- why did it have to be her brother 😢 Edit: But yeah, I found some fo the reactors to this movie seemed to seriously not care for human life- that's kinda concerning 😃 (I swear if someone comments me "Cause humans are the worse" you just proved my point 🤣 Its not normal to see someone die and go "meh". Like "you need to get help" level of concerning 😶)
@@skittles1662 well then I guess I need mental help and I’m proud of it 😁 because I honestly don’t care about any humans at all in movies. you can kill anything in movies adults, children sure I’m fine with that puppies NO! No innocent animals ! Good job proving your point tho you must be so proud.
@@ArmaTomicx It's just a movie. The last part of my comment was towards the reactors, not the movie. It's not normal to see a human die and go "meh". It means your desensitized which is a real problem in our society. An example of being desensitized is how the government is towards schools shooting. Another example of being desensitized is how people are reacting to Ukraine. Literally everyone showed their support but the moment social media moved on to the next topic ppl have already moved on with it. Just a suggestion but I have two movies for you: schindler's list and voces inocentes (you can find the full movie on youtube for "Voces inocentes") and lets see if you still have the same opinion after watching them 👀

I feel like a considerable amount of tension in this movie is "Dog please! Surviiiive!!! Get away from the danger!!" If that dog died, we'd all be destroyed
I fully support counting this as a soft reboot of the predator franchise. Predator 2 was the last good one and it kinda went downhill after that. Except maybe the first AvP. That was solid. But im comfortable writing that off
That's kind of how I feel. I can write it off if I'm feeling Petty mostly because it was rated PG-13. And that's not the movie you want to do first time out pg-1 3. But after that it was a good movie minus the somewhat slow start.
19:01 Nope! Fun Fact: Opossums are resilient/resistant toward if not straight-up immune to (there is a bit of scientific debate on the matter) both rabies and lyme disease. It is also resistant to snake venoms due to an anomaly in their blood. Being North America's only endemic marsupial species and helping us all out by feasting on POUNDS and POUNDS of pesky ticks a year, I truly wish these adorable little critters got the love and adoration they so clearly deserve!! 🥺
The man they were looking for was dragged off by a mountain lion, and he survived due to the herbs Naru gave him. People today are attacked by pumas/mountain lions/cougars and in the 1700's people were not at the top on the food chain. The dog was found in a shelter and was not supposed to be as big a character but was so biddable and the chemistry was so good they wrote her a bigger role.
The predator hunts other predators for sport. You should watch Predators(2010- Adrian Brody and Danny Trejo) Possums do not carry rabies, their body temp is too low. They eat dead stuff and have nasty mouths - their bites get infected quickly.
People also have to realize and appreciate that this movie is also entirely in a native language! Watch it! There are a few things that the English version didn’t say. So if u have the time experience it in one of the native languages, and appreciate it. As many of those original native tribes, cultures, languages are close to extinction compare to how they were 300+ years ago.
Y'all are hilarious. Discussing the difficulty of being able to successfully behead an ant and then observe its behavior. Just found your channel. You have a new viewer! Stay awesome!
Is it weird that I find it odd that they cared more for the dog than the people in this movie? Every couple of minutes "don't get kill the dog" would pop up. I like all types of pets (maybe not snakes), but I didn't find myself pleading with the movie to leave the dog alone. I wasn't worried about the dog, maybe it's because I knew the dog wasn't a threat to the Predator, but probably because I was more concerned for the people in this movie. @Dos Cavazos (Kacee), 21:35 Think of Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt when thinking about the Predator. I wouldn't say he was a machine like the ones in this movie, but he enjoyed the sport of hunting apex predators, just like the ones in the franchise--that's what they do. We have Teddy bears because of the former president. He wouldn't kill a bear tied to a tree for him to kill, as there was no sport in that. The Predator doesn't care for prey, it wants a challenge, it craves competition. I think that's why it keeps coming back to Earth. Every now and then, a human comes along a bests this advanced race despite our many disadvantages. 24:57 watch the tree scene again. Before Naru fell out of the tree, she stabbed the mountain lion in the abdomen. I think she lived because the mountain lion was hurt badly and fled. It was already weakened by the time her brother found it. I'm not saying he had it you'll soon see how much of a bad ass he really is, but Naru stabbed it pretty good and who knows what the fall did to it with that spear already in it. 25:51 There you go! Gotta respect the hustle! 36:38 she broke off one of his own mandibles and stabbed him in one of his eyes or near his eye with hit, lol. Naru is a bad ass! 40:40 that gun in Naru's hands is the SAME gun we see in Predator 2! If this gets a sequel, Naru's tribe might be f'ed...or at least the last person to use that gun, anyway. Predator's want trophies and that gun was a trophy. It usually takes the skull and spine of its game, but maybe in the case of a standoff, as we saw in Predator 2, an exchange of weapons is made. Did Naru give up the gun for a different weapon? IMHO, this was a great Predator movie. I love the first and we wouldn't have all these sequels without it, but story-wise, I think this was a much better story. I still like the first, but this one is definitely one of the better Predator movies. Hands down.
Such an awesome movie! This is exactly what the franchise needed. This one is 2nd to the original Predator, then part 2 after Prey. I can't wait to see what the next Predator movie is like because now the possibilities are limitless. I'm with Kacee, Team Predator! 👽
The girl notices that the predator couldn't see the man after she administers the medicine. And as she fights the predator she takes the medicine for camo again. I also like when she jumps from the tree to strike three good skull hits with her weapon. I actually laughed out loud when your lady says she likes the predator. The "where's the dog"😊 was cute too
Prior released of the movie on Hulu, producers and director had screening at Comanche Reservation for its citizens. They put Comanche Language in text in translation.
Every guess y'all make is always wrong, lol. Like, never be investigators. The laser from the helmet directed the bolt that the Predator shot. It's like a homing arrow that only goes where the laser points.
Completely agree but I have a special place for Aliens vs Predator: Requiem which was literally a nostalgia fest for fans of Aliens - so many Aliens fans say they hated Requiem and I'm like - did you miss how it was made specifically FOR Aliens fans? The easter eggs were NON STOP. The film's title features a distinctive vertical slash of light in the center, mimicking the main titles from Aliens. Not only is this a reference to the 1986 film, it is seemingly also a reference of sorts to the first Alien vs. Predator film, which instead featured titles in the style of Alien, to which Aliens is a sequel. During the opening titles, the sounds of both a Predator bio-helmet and the motion tracker from Aliens can be heard. During the opening scenes aboard the Predator ship, several Facehuggers are seen inside liquid-filled containment tubes; one of them lunges at the glass much in the same manner as the Facehugger that attempts to attack Burke in Aliens. The Trophy Room aboard the ship includes an Engineer skull high up on the wall. This serves as a reference both to the Pilot in Alien and the Xenomorph Drone skull seen in the Los Angeles hunting party's trophy cabinet in Predator 2. One of the lead male characters in the film is named Dallas, a tribute to Captain Dallas in Alien. The characters of Kelly and Molly O'Brien are often considered a direct analogy to the relationship between Ripley and Newt in Aliens. Both pairs share a mother-daughter relationship (be it literal or surrogate) and the characters also share many lines of dialogue. For example, Kelly assures Molly, "There are no more monsters," a reference to Newt's line, "My mommy always said there were no monsters - no real ones - but there are." A pyramid similar to the one from Alien vs. Predator can be seen in the background on the Predator homeworld. The chair in which Wolf sits on the Predator homeworld visually recalls the Pilot's chair in Alien. The bio-helmets worn by Scar, Celtic and Chopper in Alien vs. Predator can be seen alongside Wolf's when he arms up before heading to Earth. When Wolf arrives on Earth, the shot of his ship entering the planet's atmosphere is very similar to that of the Jungle Hunter being dropped off in Predator. After landing in the lake, the sequence where Wolf emerges from the water, his Cloak shorting out, is a near shot-for-shot recreation of the scene where the Jungle Hunter emerges from the water (just before Dutch discovers cold mud renders him invisible to the creature) in Predator. When the Predalien approaches the homeless lady in the sewers, one shot of her cowering in terror is remarkably similar to a shot of Lambert as the Alien approaches her in Alien. The panning shot that follows a blood trail to reveal Deputy Ray's skinned body hanging in the tree mirrors similar scenes in both Predator and Predator 2. While not quite a direct homage, the power plant in the film seems to be a reference to the Atmosphere Processing Plant in Aliens. In one of the added scenes in the Unrated Edition, Kelly wears a dressing gown very similar to the one worn by Ripley when Burke and Gorman come to recruit her in Aliens. When Dallas hears of the explosion at the power plant in the Unrated Edition, he comments, "Well this day just keeps getting better," paraphrasing Dutch's line, "This is getting better by the minute," from Predator. When Wolf is healing himself in the tree, a long panning shot follows a stream of his florescent blood up the tree, finally revealing Wolf perched on a branch. The same style of shot was also used in Predator and Predator, albeit with human blood. One of the tombstones in the graveyard seen in the Unrated Edition is marked "HAWKINS", a reference to the character Hawkins in Predator. In the Unrated Edition, one of the National Guard soldiers receives a Headbite and the Drone's inner jaw punches straight through his head and breaks a window behind him, mimicking David's death in Alien3. When the radio to the National Guard patrol goes dead, the whining static sound heard is the same as that heard after Dallas is taken in Alien. The acronym "OWLF" is seen on a monitor that Colonel Stevens is watching; the OWLF was Keyes' unit in Predator 2. In the same scene as above, the noise made by the Mother interface in Alien can be hard in the background. Also during the above scene, Stevens looks at footage of a Xenomorph on a monitor and asks, "What the fuck are you?" This is an homage to Predator, in which Dutch asks the Jungle Hunter almost the exact same question. The use of an IAV Stryker by the survivors is an homage to the APC used by the Colonial Marines in Aliens. During a later scene with Stevens in the military control center, the bleeping of the motion trackers from Aliens can be heard. Dallas yells at his brother Ricky, "Get to the chopper!" This is an obvious reference to Dutch's famous line in Predator. When Wolf takes off his bio-helmet and abandons most of his weaponry before facing the Predalien on the hospital roof, his actions and the various camera angles and edits used match the scene where the Jungle Hunter discards its equipment in the original Predator. The helicopter escaping from the nuclear explosion is similar to the dropship fleeing the explosion at the end of Aliens. The film's soundtrack takes movements, themes and many musical elements from all previous Alien and Predator movies, fusing them with its own style to create what is essentially a remix of the preceding movies' soundtracks. Likewise, many of the Xenomorph sound effects, such as their various hisses and death cries, are recycled from earlier movies, particularly Aliens.
The fricc u talkin about 'making the mistake' of showing her Prey first?? This is a solid introduction for a first timer. If you showed her the Shane Black 'The Predator', I would agree. She figured it out just fine. Your girl clued on early it was hunting for trophies. Give her more credit. Just whatever you do, don't show her Shane Black's 'The Predator'. Don't taint her view of this franchise. Protect it at all costs.
There's an Alfed Hitchcock (father of modern cinema) movie where there's a bomb on a train. On this train is an innocent little boy and he's holding a box of puppies. The bomb goes off, everyone dies. Audiences were not happy at all. Not because the innocent boy was killed, but because the puppies were killed. Alfred Hitchcock learned not to kill cute animals in his films. Puts GOTG 3 into perspective. Roaches live for up to a week with a severed head. They eventually die of dehydration. Danny Glover was in Predator 2.
I really liked this movie. The Predator design was way better than I was expecting. 2 things I hated were the CGI for the bear and the medicine which someone lowers body temperature to a point it can't be detected.
i think "cant be detected" isnt quite accurate you can still clearly make out the blood in the predators vision its just colder than normal for living, probably still doesnt make 100% sense but eh movie magic
Ah, gotta love a franchise like this adding a solid new film. It's definitely been awhile for Predator. Im a huge Alien fan but the new additions just haven't stuck the landing. (And I even enjoyed Prometheus)
Oh man this by far the best in the franchise. Its not just ok its a GREAT movie. It got a 10 min standing ovation at the screening. Its a 93% of RT w a 90% audience score. Its definitely great.

Yes watch yes 🙌🏻
You both are young. Or am I old?
My opinion, Amber MidThunder is like Ripley from Alien and Aliens.
Ripley saw and fought the original Alien.
The Colonial Marines don't believe her and get slaughtered.
Ripley has to the Queen and save the little girl. The men always underestimate the power of women.
Next will you do the original predator? Id love to see her reaction to it
If you watched abomanation The Predator ftom 2018 you would say about this movie is best so far..
I like the fact that Naru weakened the lion and the brother finish him, then the brother weakened the predator and Naru finish him.
Yes ...
The parallels in this movie are good
Good point I didn't catch that tbh as obvious as it was to others
Shit more than the brother. A wolf, bear, 5 tribe members, 50 French trappers, her brother, a dog, her and THEN his own tech.
@@MasterOrona but the brother is the one who wounded the predator the most, which is kinda crazy since he fought a bear without using his weapons.
Everybody feared for the dog and the directors knew we would. They put that dog in so many dangerous situations.
Omg I was so glad the dog survived 😭
Actually no nothing to do with it. He was supposed to be only in two scenes following the script. But the crew liked him so much he was worked into the movie more bc it was a rescue they got for the movie and trained on the spot.
It wasn't a professional dog trainer who rented out his dog and gave him directions.
@@greyscalesx your comment doesn't even have anything to do with my comment.
I'm fine with the dog not dying if it meant on the edge thinking "Is *THIS* where it dies?" the whole way lol
The helmet had a targeting system and she saw when it was fighting her brother and had lost its helmet,. that the projectile it fires targeted one of the red lasers. That is how she knew and why she set the helmet up to get the Predator into that spot for her trap, using his helmet against him.
She noticed that the targeting system was what directed the projectiles and not the direction his arm was facing, so she used that against him.
honestly any idiot with half a braincell could’ve spotted that 😭
Exactly 👍
Still plot armor yeah super extra smart alien Siri extrem advanced weaponry let’s make him forget how his own gear works lol
@@MontgomeryWenis That is what I said. The projectile targeted the red laser dot. Actually turning in air when Taabe was fighting it and she saw that.
one thing i will say is the brother was never over confident, he knew full well what he was capable of and accepted his death when the predator cloaked, i like to think he is the reason they came back to hunt more humans and evolved in to more cunning hunters
exactly, he beat the predator and the predator had to run, there was nothing the brother could do and he knew he couldn’t beat it because it was no longer fair
Brother you are absolutely right in your comment only that I differ in your last dialogue, it is 300 years before the first predator is. Logical to think that their technology was older but light years away from humanity at that time of the film, I doubt that it was because of the humans that their technology evolved, I think that it is rather because of the tribes, as you said in your comment different aspects different technologies,
@@necromantic2955 oh no i never thought their tech would evolve i meant them
I thought the brother went out like a Boss. Actually, most of the Native American Warriors did. To give credit, a lot of the French fur traders did as well. Yes many of them were caught by surprise or tried to run. But others went toe to toe, though clearly not as effective as the Indigenous warriors.
-
I also liked that they showed those hand-to-hand fights.
Makes you wonder how they ended up with the French man's pistol.
Yet he kills the unarmed guy playing dead.
@@btqy he's an incel
@@btqy Yea but that guy was already an enemy. He did not find him randomly, he sliced off his leg during the previous fight but the guy managed to escape. He just finished the job.
Naru was easily my favorite Predator franchise character. I loved how she was always learning, observing, calculating and educating herself and she used all this to her advantage and outsmarted a technologically-advanced being using his own tech. The Predators on the mother ship must be so embarrassed after seeing that.
Her and her brother were written so well. I loved their dynamic, how he spoke to her, everything. So good.
Except her rope tomahawk thingy would not work like that.
@@schwartzy65 It’s a movie where native Americans fight an alien hunter. Yeah I’m sure the rope tomahawk is the issue…
Naru stabbed the lion in the side with her spear as she fell. So yes she did weaken it.
So many people are missing that detail even though they pretty clearly show that and you can hear it.
@@L3GIQN The brother says it too lol.
@@L3GIQN I didn’t notice it and wondered why the brother said she had wounded him and how she did it. I like how even though she froze a little with the lion and tree scenario she was able to succeed when she did it to the Predator. I loved that scene a lot.
these youtubers are dumb as hell
It makes me crazy how everyone seems to miss that detail-
What I love about “Prey” is that it’s themes are universal.
Well said.
Damn this movie was WAY better than I was expecting it to be. First movie for a while where I’ve been stressed out the whole time because of how intense it all is
she did weaken the lion, she stabbed it with her spear as she was falling down.

@@ihavetourettesfcksht6130 the cinematography was unreal tho and it was one of the most beautifully shot films i’ve ever seen
You got it right. Alien VS Predator was a guilty pleasure film. Not the best, but we fans enjoyed it a lot. I know I did. They did it for the fans. I actually thought it was pretty good for what it was.
Agreed, it’s nice to see a person that isn’t just this is shit and thats shit cause i dont understand/other people also said that.

Just remember that.
This was actually a really good prequel, loved the reaction guys 😊
One of the things I love most about this movie is the level of athleticism from the predator shown here. We have not seen a predator in motion like this before and it's awesome.
To me, this one ranks number 2 behind only the original Predator. The Native Peoples/historical angle was cool and different, as well as a female protagonist, setting it apart from the other sequels. I also thought Amber Midthunder was fantastic as the lead.
Btw, the director said the scene where she killed the Frenchmen holding her dog was a "oner" (a single shot, made without cuts) so that was all Amber, there was no stuntperson as one of you mentioned.
i actually think in a interview the actress said that for the one shot a stunt double and actress would swap in and out
re: Naru weakening the lion... I feel like EVERYONE keeps missing this in all the reactions I watch, but she does in fact spear the lion right in the ribs as she's falling, but it happens so fast everyone keeps missing it haha
Also disagree with a lot of comments re: which predator to watch first.
Agree wholeheartedly.
Yes, this comment is the best when it comes to predator movies.
predator 2 is still as a whole a better movie, this was a good movie with a horrible ending, while predator 2 was a good movie with a good ending.
Honestly, lore shouldn't interfere in good writing or creative ideas
This is by far my favorite Predator movie not even close
Which are the 3 best predators?
he probably wanted to say "too woke" lmao
Sometimes simple is better
To me the first part, before the predator enters into play, was teh best part of the movie. The quality decreased after that gradually. Overall a good movie, but not great. Had the quality remained constant, I would have classified it as a great.
Invader Rin Yeah soyboy? This Prey movie sucks
I watched this with my mom and she's a huge Predator fan. She's half Native American and loved this movie but she says Predators is still her favorite. She does love Adrien Brody. I had to explain this end fight a little to her but she already wants to watch it again, and I think this has that going for it, good rewatch ability.

Not only did it have intense action sequences, but both the director and writer managed to perfectly balance that tightrope of tension by both showing that this Predator is a truly terrifying and formidable threat while also not making him OP with his weaponry, thereby giving the people a fighting chance.
On top of that I absolutely LOVED the portrayal of the Comanche Nation.
You should definitely watch Predator & Predator 2 and Alien & Aliens
This man returned his sister then left killed a lion and return with the lion he so bad ass
Fun fact: The breed of dog in this movie is Carolina Dog AKA American Dingo! They were used by natives all across the United States for thousand of years. You can still find breeders and dogs of this variety today. Just be aware that they are super smart, mischievous, and energetic if you decide to take one home.
I do think Kacee should have seen, at least, Predator 1 before this one.
Best supporting actor is the dog
this movie was brilliant its an early predator compared to what we're used to.. he built up his Prey from wolf to bear to human. when they used arrows he added them and used when they used spears he used spears.
To me Prey is the 2nd best Predator movie after the original
Me too -- exactly the same.
I mean it's kind of cute for me that after I watch a lot of peoples react to this movie, I found out basically there is no one really care about humans life but people all really really really care about the fate of the dog.🤣
haha hypocritical person
I noticed that too. Me and my family felt remorse, and while some had it coming the manner of death is gruesome 😬
I didn't want the dog to die but after the brother died I was like "I take it back! Why couldn't it be the brother that lived and the dog die 😭" I know it sounds mean but- why did it have to be her brother 😢
Edit: But yeah, I found some fo the reactors to this movie seemed to seriously not care for human life- that's kinda concerning 😃
(I swear if someone comments me "Cause humans are the worse" you just proved my point 🤣 Its not normal to see someone die and go "meh".
Just a suggestion but I have two movies for you: schindler's list and voces inocentes (you can find the full movie on youtube for "Voces inocentes") and lets see if you still have the same opinion after watching them 👀
@@ArmaTomicx Also your comment is kinda creepy 😅
"I honestly don't care about any human being in movies. You can kill anything in movies adults, children, sure I'm fine with that. Puppies NO! No innocent animals"
Your okay with INNOCENT children dying? wha- 😃???
When she asked if he's killing for sport, and you stared at the screen, it was like you were staring into my soul. 😵💫
Am I the only person in the world that saw her stab the lion as she was falling? Lol
I barely saw it. It moved pretty fast and it wasn’t that long.
whenever kacee says he wants to be the best I cant help but hear in my head "I wanna be the very best like no one ever was"
19:49, this is a Feral Predator which means it's not domesticated but acts like a wild animal that's untamed violent or unstable.
What about Predators?
I didn’t like AVP but I liked predators. But uh…. The idea that autism is a super power the aliens wanted for
Themselves is beyond stupid.
@@mileshill7196 Oh I meant the Adrian Brody Predators/Not the Shane Black Predator movie lol
@@GangstaStan010 i dig that movie a lot. (Lawrence F. character was badly written).
I just watched it!!! One of the best prequels to a classic original ever!!!!
You should watch Predators(2010- Adrian Brody and Danny Trejo)
Possums do not carry rabies, their body temp is too low.
That’s in one version though.
@Dos Cavazos (Kacee),
21:35 Think of Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt when thinking about the Predator.
Hands down.
Hey sorry the Teddy Roosevelt thing is wrong just a myth he had nothing to do with Teddy bears lol. agree with the rest
Such an awesome movie! This is exactly what the franchise needed. This one is 2nd to the original Predator, then part 2 after Prey. I can't wait to see what the next Predator movie is like because now the possibilities are limitless. I'm with Kacee, Team Predator! 👽
Kacee needs to watch more movies 😂
Especially Alien and Aliens... and then stop there on that franchise
The girl notices that the predator couldn't see the man after she administers the medicine. And as she fights the predator she takes the medicine for camo again. I also like when she jumps from the tree to strike three good skull hits with her weapon. I actually laughed out loud when your lady says she likes the predator. The "where's the dog"😊 was cute too
I fuckin loved this movie almost as good as the first
Prior released of the movie on Hulu, producers and director had screening at Comanche Reservation for its citizens. They put Comanche Language in text in translation.
I feel like you guys should watch predator, Predator 2 and then AVP to get the lore.
He knows. His wife doesn't. Lol
So like half an hour in you guys didn't understand that they were looking for someone from their group who was taken by a lion???
Every guess y'all make is always wrong, lol. Like, never be investigators. The laser from the helmet directed the bolt that the Predator shot. It's like a homing arrow that only goes where the laser points.
I really loved & enjoyed this movie. It was awesome. Definitely the best Predator movie right behind the first one
Predator 1 and 2 along with Alien and Aliens are the only ones worth watching, but the rest are def hilarious.
For example, Kelly assures Molly, "There are no more monsters," a reference to Newt's line, "My mommy always said there were no monsters - no real ones - but there are."
A pyramid similar to the one from Alien vs.
@@ColinPoole if only it was rated r it would have been a must for me, def dont hate it.
Predators was good
I was cautious going into this movie, but damn did I love it.
Predators tear off the spine of any creature that put up a good fight before it dies as a personal trophy
Is that the Pistol from the end of Predator 2?
Yes
If you wanna continue. Watch Predator 2 before Alien Vs Predator...
Oh man this by far the best in the franchise. Its not just ok its a GREAT movie. It got a 10 min standing ovation at the screening. Its a 93% of RT w a 90% audience score. Its definitely great.
