I LOL'd pretty hard when you got the Fire Starter trophy from blowing up a tank. I had to spend a few hours on Caspian Border lighting the grass on fire with my repair torch like some mentally-handicapped kindergartner.
I like trolling the mine-laying guys with the MAV. If you're lucky and you wait for the right opportunity sometimes you can blow up a vehicle plus a bunch of guys. It never gets old
Yeah thats right you can't put C4 to MAV but maybe slams would work
The problem especially now so many years later is it feels like 99% of tank drivers run thermal optics now, you see the odd one with zoom optics. They drive around with it almost always on so the only time I ever get AT mine kills is from transport vehicles speeding through. Hiding your mines a little bit behind a box or some cover works but it's unreliable unless they drive right next to it for some reason. Throwing flares around can help too but they burn out before tanks usually go past.
Thermals should have always made mines HARDER to see not easier to see I really don't understand their decision to make them stand out so much at all.
My secret, I place three mines on top of each other, like an explosive club sandwich. They look like one lonely mine, with the power of three!

just a thought, as a tanker mines and slams are easy to spot with thermal,
how about dropping mines and throwing a flare on them
this will disable thermal and make harder to see, they burn for ages as well , just a thought

@big ian I actually place the mines next to the tank that stood still and then fire the rocket launcher at the tank to trigger reaction explosion + splash damage I will able to 1-hit tanks
Also you get more flares than a grenade. You can't utilize some of grenades and features but its clever. Thing is people is not using thermals much
The AA mine is used for specific traps as well. The best way I have found is to mostly deploy it when a chopper is close and on you, the AA mine will give it a mobility hit and you then follow that up with a with a good rpg shot. I will post a vid a link later
tip for snipers if you spot enemy mines as long as there are no friendly tanks around leave them and wait for an enemy vehicle then shoot the mine just before the vehicle Passes over them its so satisfying seeing an enemy tank taken out by friendly mines.
you can also use the jamming device (it throws some kind of projectile, not sure how it's called) on the MAV to destroy mines for the same effect, also works with claymores/C4 and infantry.
@@vodkaboy yeah that works just as well if not eiser since you don't have to account for drop and makes finding mines eiser.

I didn't know you could crawl past mines because to me mines have magnetic and pressure fuses so crawling a tank over mines makes no sense to me.
If you wanted to go on a vehicle murdering rampage, mines especially the versatile M2 are amazing. But I switched back to the repair tool on Conquest to more useful as a team player. In fewer objective modes like Rush Defence, CTF, Obliteration; I'm still weighing up which works better larger route denial with obvious M15 pizzas or going for the vehicle kill with concealed M2 books.

Awesome guide. And for those who aren't aware, as of now, it now takes 2 for light armor or a tank, and 1 for a jeep. I don't know about an armored car, yet.

You can use flares to trigger Slams, but I think you need to shoot it first to make the power come out. Really funny to see someone die from a flare.

Hahaha......I always feel a twinge of guilt when I use any type of mine( especially claymores ).
throw flares on top of mines so people with infared can't see them. works well except you'll be exposed for longer time when you place down mines.
Maybe a patch later in BF4's life changed this, but you can now have 6 of both mines on the map at once. Basically, you can have all your mines deployed.
Wrong, u can only ever have 3 mines of each type deployed at once

You can set off enemy mines, at least with a sniper rifle. You can even destroy enemy vehicles like this by taking out their own mines.
Today I destroyed 9 vehicles via mines in Shanghai
So satisfying!

Although I do find if I sneak behind a tank and place them they always just drive over them and nothing happens, kind of annoying haha
FLARES 🔥 are best put down next to mines, they blind all FLIR/IRNV so they can’t spot the mines. On Shanghai bridge are best choke points...it’s easy get 1st or 3rd in points and average 35-45 kills
on rush on paracel storm I love placing mines on the beaches when defending ribs and pwcs never notice them
if I remember correctly you go "crawl speed" over at mines you won't set them off
I’m assuming that in order to activate crawl speed on a tank on Console edition, you just… don’t push the stick all the way forward? Or is there something else to it?

How many slams do I need now for a light vehicles and armored vehicles(except tanks and ifvs)after their nerf?
I think it's two for light (non MRAP) and four for tanks and ifvs. Which you can only accomplish if you have the perk.
I ended up equipping IRNV to my vehicles so that I always see mines.
I keep forgetting I even have mines if im honest! I'm a slick shot with the RPG/SMAW though! Outsnipe a sniper anyday blad YOU GET ME!?!
Just put some m2 slams on a friends bike or other vehicle and he have to dive into the tank you get the kill and he dont die

A good trick, lock onto helicopters with stinger / igla but don't fire, wait for them to use countermeasures. After it's been used, and they're in range, use aa mine, and Fire igla /stinger
Jordan Stevens that works well, for a laugh try laser tag then use javelin, we have seen it go around buildings

Doesnt IFVs take 3 M15 mines to destroy? More than once i've experienced them going over 2 of them and only getting disabled.
The results may be different if you back over them, but in all my tests, 2 M15s were required to destroy an IFV. Symthic corroborates this finding as their vehicle health is identical.
The IFVs are, strangely enough, more resilient to rockets shot at their rear. (50 damage against tanks vs. 35ish for an IFV).

It's my understanding that there isn't a dedicated crawl button on consoles, so my only guess would be to feather the analog stick used for driving very lightly. It's certainly prone to human error, so I'd be extremely careful with that.
Do the mines still stay after death? Dice has made a lot of changes and I like to use the Slams but I'm not sure if they still stay. If they do I can greatly improve my use of them.

That's good to know. I haven't played in sometime so I'm a little rusty about these things.
Dragon 04 Other things to know would be that C4 now does 40 damage. Flare recharges in 6 seconds I belive. And I cant figure out anything else currently, oh also, grips now have accuracy recovery penalties now, all of them, so there is a point to not using grips.
Im gonna go play soon so I might figure something else important out, ill tell you if I do.

A flare is better
You can only put down 3 slams at a time. This isn't enough to kill IFV'S or MBT'S so I have no use for slams. don't say that you can put more down with a field upgrade because I very rarely unlock field upgrades because I am not the best player when it comes to staying alive
put down three slams and I only do 84 damage max
Yep -- only way slams kill tanks now is if you can manage 4, or combine with a regular mine (i.e. run mines in both gadget slots).
i love running slams and mines depending on my situations.

Every BF player knows that the best way to effectively use the M15 AT mine is via Jihad Jeep.
slams > mines against good players and players using optics because you can hid them behind a vertical surface imho

Have over 23K+ kills in tank.. didn't know about the crawling xD And you can also destroy slams with hmg so you don't have to waste a shell for that.
