I hate that ammo boxes disappear when you die. In bf3 I would always start a round as support, drop an ammo box in some convenient hidden spot, and for the rest of the round I would know just where to find ammo. In bf4 its a constant struggle to stay supplied.
Silenced MG4+Flanking+Awareness of surroundings= Being an effective support player. Bring ammo boxes to resupply yourself and teammates and C4 to take care of vehicles. Flank around and clear entire buildings without being noticed because recons have shit awareness. Gotta love support.

One of my favorite things to do with the support class is actually to run carbines with it - usually suppressed - and keep myself supplied with an ammo box. C4 to take out walls and flank enemies that have no idea I'm there :)

I'm a Support player and I think that it is overall the best class. In my experience, Recon just don't get enough kills though their devices can be helpful. Assault can't replenish ammo and if you aren't playing with your friends in a squad and you're with a bunch of morons who choose the wrong classes or don't drop ammo boxes, you're pretty much a civilian. Engineer I guess is good though I can't remember if you only have access to shitty carbines and PDWs when encountering soldiers. Support pretty much has something for everyone and you can play as an Assault with infinite ammo and you have access to all kinds of weapons. You get hit and hurt? Just regen your health. You can't regen your ammo.
Fares Khaled carbines are good but they're out damaged by assault rifles and lmgs there are many assault rifles that will shred carbines up front and the m240b lmg is on par with the ace 52 cqb at close range but is severly outdamaged by it at long range and any other long range carbine is also outclassed by long range lmgs like the m60e4
I play engineer 90% of the times but that's because I'm mainly flying around in an attack chopper or scout Heli lmao. I kill every from assault to Scout in my chopper lol

@Deus Vult Now you need 3 C4s to blow up a tank. Before it was only 2. Plus C4 resupplied faster same thing other gadgets like rocket launchers, grenades and grenade launchers. Now they take ages to resupply to fix the "grenade spam" problem wich is a problem only in shitty ass chokepointy infantry maps like metro or locker. When you play in other conquest maps and you need extra rockets for your RPG you need to wait years. All of that for those shitty infantry only maps that are there to please fake BF players.
I always loved playing support since bad company 2. Something about it... I just don't enjoy other classes as much. Nothing beats putting down your bipod and destroying everything in front of you.
Great video! I enjoy playing support. Finally, just a week or so ago, I finally broke down and went after my shotgun basic assignment. Why? Well, I had heard so much bad information from You Tube commentators about shotguns, I did not even want to try to get my basic shotgun assignment. Imagine my surprise! I use the DBV 12, with buckshot and full choke, and 2X FLIR scope, (although I think I remember you have a video going against full choke on a DBV 12.) Anyway, I digress: Of all my rifles, including my sniper rifles, my shotgun has the highest percentage for accuracy of them all. In fact, my shotguns accuracy is double that of my sniper rifles and triple that of my assault or carbine rifles. In just a week I have gone from not even wanting to try shotguns to being a shotgun expert. Amazing! Nonetheless, from what I have studied by tacticians support should stay just behind the front line and not get into the front line. Using that tactic, I sit back a few meters with an ammo box always available, and I am set at perimeter defense. This way I am not up front but not so far away that it is dangerous for the others to resupply themselves with ammo. When I play assault or engineer, nothing angers me more then support not throwing down ammo boxes. However, this was a great video. Thanks!
Well I'd say at least 90% of players usually don't even survive so long that they don't have ammo anymore but all of them get wounded and die. So in an average team I'd say there are more medics needed than support.
Get on the tall building in obliteration on lancing dam, bipod and acog on LMG, burst fire on enemies near bomb. Most assault / engineer can't reach you, and you can fire much more towards snipers, it makes it hard for them to hit you with suppression.
Common Logic M60 a d PKP, but this is waay to risky, a counter-sniper recon will still be able to get you, a mortar or UCAV can kill you quickly, and so can M320, nades, and other hasards
If your far enough away from enemies, only snipers, dmrs and other bipod lmg users will be able to hit you. Im not sure about the ucav because I've never been killed by it. If your at least 350m away, mortars won't be able to get you.
Most useless class? Probably Assault, especially when they revive you for the points and doesn't care if you're going to die right away, not to mention most of them keep their medkits for themselves, at least Recons best scouting potential, they can help Engineers with the SOFLAM, kill dangerous threats like enemy engineers or other snipers, place beacons in flanking positions for their squad, and so on
Support is my favorite role to play. I always use the m60e4 and act more like a sniper while defending a point we capped. I can often times out snipe snipers with it
I've played bf4 recently, on xbox. I'm solid. Everyone that still plays can be considered average at worst. The less people you have on coms in a party, the more challenging it is to play infantry without running assault. The game is 10 years old. Everyone is aware and more than capable of hitting their shots. You may be able to chew threw a few people, but without a med pack it's only a matter of time before you see the respawn screen. Not to mention, I believe this video was posted before bf4's big rework of weapon balancing. As far as the state of the game; there are many servers that are full. 10+ at a given time on the NA servers with solid map rotations. If you're looking for competition, play Operation Locker in 2023. Everyone plays lights out. Yes, I know that's always been the case with Lockers, but it's different when half the server is 140's profusely sweating. It's seriously some of the most intense gameplay you'll ever have the chance of playing on any battlefield... I haven't even tried joining an Operation Metro match.
I think what people don't realise is BF4 encourages mid to long range combat tactics..so the support if used properly is a vital part of the team. Support with MGs, close range assault with medics, and use sharpshooters in any class with DMRs. Engineers are just to counter vehicles
Having played support I can tell you you can easily take out assault players at close quarters, and compete with snipers at mid range, while if a sniper fires from far away he is not a threat unless u stay stationary for 5+ seconds. Plus it can fire everywhere with its mortars and ucav, and forever due to the ammo boxes... Of course this class is op!!!!
I'm a support player main. This guy knows that shotguns are available for all classes right? Also put a suppressor on if you thing your aim is good enough? They reduce range not accuracy. This isn't CoD
Why I prefer Support class.... I need not worry about reload when enemy is eyeing me eyeball to eyeball from a distance. With suppression perk of added 50percent.... I will harrass him to death. With exception to recons. They need mortar treatment any given day.
I hate it when people complain about how support players never drop ammo. As a support player, I throw down ammo all the time especially when other players ask for it, but when i go to a medic and ask for a med pack, they either ignore me or show me that they have a grenade launcher and defibrillators (which i doubt they ever use). When im playing anything other than support and need ammo, players usually drop some or i can occasionally find an ammo box somewhere.
Bro back when i used to play this game a lot. I remember my bipod mg4 shreding snipers. If I start shooting first you get supresed and the mg4 wins. Got called hacker so many times for bipod mg4 shredding snipers
I use the UCAV only to take down helis got some pretty ridiculous killls with it back in my days. Haven't played since 2017 man.. i got old 😪. I should upload all my old footage. Got some pretty cool ucav kills saved on UA-cam for posterity 🙂.
Why doesnt anyone play support? Its always assault. So when i want to switch classes. Im left with no ammo. Due to this. I give no one ammo because i recieve nothing in return. Most players need to switch to support
killahki engineers has a capability to kill enemy armor from range, by laying mines and using their rocket launcher, while support must run to an enemy, just to get killed in the way
The only way and I mean, the ONLY way I use support is on flood zone conquest. I take the chopper to the roof alongside shotgun with frag rounds. Ammo box to supply myself with additional bullets and I basically camp there shooting little meteors on peasants below until I get bored or someone snipes me. I do it all because i hate this map and this is literally the only way I have fun there. Thankfully next map is usually dawnbreaker so i stop trolling there.
But shotguns are for all classes. And bipods are finicky and leave you stationary. And mortars can’t kill you in one shot. Recon has c4 as well. And claymores have clearly visible wires. Support lmgs suck unless you stay stationary. And almost any weapon can mount a bipod
I think the M249 is the best all-round weapon in the game. Put any laser on it and hipfiring accuracy becomes a lot higher, I've seen players use about 20 bullets with this gun and the MG4 while hipfiring and we able to take down around 4 - 6 people around 3 meters away, it's no PDW hipfiring accuracy but it's still impressive. Put a stubby grip on it and getting Medium-Range (25 - 50 meters) kills while shooting fully automatic is a piece of cake, you could also put on an angled or ergo grip for more aggressive straffing... however the stubby is the jack of all trades. Heavy Barrels, Compensators and Muzzle Brakes help when burst firing at longer ranges, sure, the Bipod in terms of accuracy out does all these options, but Bipods are only really good for large outdoor maps. By the way, the M249 is better than the MG4 for all you who are wondering, It has less first-shot recoil and the horizontal recoil left/right ratio is so balanced that the gun almost resets itself into place, vertical recoil is significantly lower as well.
C.T. Productions idk, PKP is better by stats and power, larger caliber, being a hybrid M240B and M60-E4, making it more jack-of-all-trades, but the M249 does it too
I didn't know there wasn't a multiplier on shotguns until recently. Over a years worth of headshots with my beloved 870 made no difference. Head glitchers got some tho!
I have another type of supporter: THE FUCKER THAT SHOOTS AN XM25 ACROSS THE MAP LIKE IN METRO FROM ALLEY ROOM BETWEEN ALLEY AND ALLEY RAMP TO LOCKERS RAMP (good thing xm25 is banned now on that server, BUT NOT EXPLOSIVE SHOTTIES).
There is no overpowered or underpowered class it's about when you use the class. The class I favor the most is engineer, but that is because I am a vehicle/anti-vehicle player on large scale maps and game modes. Whenever I play infantry only battles like locker or tdm, assault is my go to class and the mix between vehicle and infantry on rush I use recon and support, but with recon I use dmr or carbine with mav and spawn beacon, being more of a team player because I hate sniping. Support and assault are not good classes for large scale battles with vehicles and definitely not good for open vehicle intensive maps like golmud or lancang. I use support the least, though, because it is better used as sticking with your team, defending and being on the back end of the front lines because your gadgets limit you to that. That assault class gadgets enable you to be on the front lines with no reason to not be. Support simply is usually not my playstyle, but it is great got tight maps with vehicles like flood zone and it is a great class with c4. I feel that it's not about the weapons you have as your class, it's your gadgets. Recon does have a big difference between deciding to snipe or to rush in with a carbine or shotgun, but depending on your gadgets, you cannot line gun like as an assault with health
Bro believe it or not i could kill any tank 1 on 1 on a long range battle playing as support. I have no idea how people on bf4 didn't use this back in the day. Simply get off the tank ucav and then get on the battle with your enemy already wounded. Made a video about it, not trying to get views.. i swear... got shitty channel haven't uploaded in years. people object to a machine gunner acting like a machine gunner? Thats what machine guns do in real life - set up on fixed positions that are ideal killzones and then just mow everyone down. Its so rare that support classes arent just completely useless - usually the machine gun is just an unusable assault rifle (accuracy and recoil insanely bad) with a huge magazine that takes an eternity to reload and at one time they usually did less damage and sometimes over-heated too. Glad to see its changed.
Shotguns are only a one shot at point blank range. Outside of ten feet, you need 3-6 shots to get kills. Snipers are a one shot at any range, but no one says they are op. Because the real range of a shotgun is never shown in any video game. Just stay away from the shotgun and you instantly win with ANY other weapon. Even pdws and carbines can kill past 10 feet
I hate how in BF4 they made moving while firing make you shoot at a 90 degree angle. It makes the aggressive sniper style I enjoyed so much in BF3 practically useless.
What's wrong with rewarding accurate players? And it's not only about quickscoping, it's the fact that if you're trying to snipe someone at a long distance, you just have to stand still and hope they miss you if you want a chance at hitting them.

Which is what a sniper does. Actually, snipers should be forced to CAMP, CAMP, CAMP… and have one or two guards against someone sneaking up on the sniping position.
Watching this 5 years later.... the case can be made that Assault has been the most unbalanced and OP class in the last two entries than any class in Battlefield games past.
Who evers says support class is useless he is probably a call of duty player, a noob, under age , ninja fallower, and plays fortnite. The support class is one of the BEST.
As the other guy said, the sensors like TUGS and drones and UCAV's are helpful but as far as stemming the tide of enemies and defending a place from an assault whether troops or vehicles, correct, they just don't do enough kills to help and this is coming from someone who LOVES to snipe in CoD.
BlueonGoldZ You have to consider their entire role is to support their team. They are not the main killers of their team. Battlefield is not purely about kills, supporting your team is most important. Unless your team aren't very good, then you got to take up the mantle yourself, but you can't do it as Recon unless you pick up a Carbine.
Reon Thornton I know but in my experience, it seems like we need more hands on deck during any engagement with people that can at least fire 500 RPM or more as opposed to bolt guns and semi autos. In my experience, whenever I have gotten sniped, it always seemed to be some person trying to get to some interesting spot to snipe from or to troll. they never did anything to stop the capture of a flag or capture of an MCOM.
BlueonGoldZ That's why you take up a position where you can see advancing enemies, or can cover your own men. They aren't meant to do the capturing themselves, rather, help others do so, when they are sniping. Sniping itself, is a support role.
in my oppinion the support needs a few other gadgets like the healing bags and reviveability and better explosives like rockest and i do think assoult should have a bit better damage with its own weapons and engineer should have faster repairs and better resistance to explosives the assoult should also resist bullets a bit more the support for me in general is like: supporting the team by advancing keeping the bullets there reviving them and healing them and with engineer her should keep his mines and a few of his rocket launchers and the assoult of course should keep is grenade launchers thumbs up or tell me what is wrong with this

Assault is the medic and infantry man, engineer is the tank hunter and...well...engineer, recon has what makes them do their jobs (snipers, tugs, sensors, MAV) 3rd. why should support has every gadget, it doesnt make sense, their gadgets are focused to supply the team, and suppress the enemy, that's it, support, not becoming the class of classes

the accuracy is so high because it shoots many pellets in many directions. it creates a cone so even if youre off target you still get a hit

He said that If your aim is good enough you don't need a supressor. Meaning that because you kill everyone instantly you don't need to be silent.

I hate it when people complain about how support players never drop ammo. As a support player, I throw down ammo all the time especially when other players ask for it, but when i go to a medic and ask for a med pack, they either ignore me or show me that they have a grenade launcher and defibrillators (which i doubt they ever use). When im playing anything other than support and need ammo, players usually drop some or i can occasionally find an ammo box somewhere.

Bro back when i used to play this game a lot. I remember my bipod mg4 shreding snipers. If I start shooting first you get supresed and the mg4 wins. Got called hacker so many times for bipod mg4 shredding snipers
You can also run and gun with an XM25 and a carbine
7 years later I gotta say: UCAV is fucking unbeatable, and Mortar is absolutely aggravating.
When I am camped out with both in the woods.
I use the UCAV only to take down helis got some pretty ridiculous killls with it back in my days. Haven't played since 2017 man.. i got old 😪. I should upload all my old footage. Got some pretty cool ucav kills saved on UA-cam for posterity 🙂.

Why doesnt anyone play support? Its always assault. So when i want to switch classes. Im left with no ammo. Due to this. I give no one ammo because i recieve nothing in return. Most players need to switch to support
I only use support class to annoy ppl with ucav :)
and thats very rare.
Only issue is the engineer isn't better for taking out vehicles with 4-5 rockets to kill a tank vs support 2 c4 or less to kill any vehicle.
killahki engineers has a capability to kill enemy armor from range, by laying mines and using their rocket launcher, while support must run to an enemy, just to get killed in the way
I’ve gotten a little use to smoke grenades when trying to attach JeepStuff to the enemy vehicle tho I wish it took 2 instead of 3 for a sure kill
The only way and I mean, the ONLY way I use support is on flood zone conquest. I take the chopper to the roof alongside shotgun with frag rounds. Ammo box to supply myself with additional bullets and I basically camp there shooting little meteors on peasants below until I get bored or someone snipes me. I do it all because i hate this map and this is literally the only way I have fun there. Thankfully next map is usually dawnbreaker so i stop trolling there.

Meh. You're probably gonna get flanked a lot and killed from the side or rear doing that.
But shotguns are for all classes. And bipods are finicky and leave you stationary. And mortars can’t kill you in one shot. Recon has c4 as well. And claymores have clearly visible wires. Support lmgs suck unless you stay stationary. And almost any weapon can mount a bipod
I think the M249 is the best all-round weapon in the game.
Put any laser on it and hipfiring accuracy becomes a lot higher, I've seen players use about 20 bullets with this gun and the MG4 while hipfiring and we able to take down around 4 - 6 people around 3 meters away, it's no PDW hipfiring accuracy but it's still impressive.
Put a stubby grip on it and getting Medium-Range (25 - 50 meters) kills while shooting fully automatic is a piece of cake, you could also put on an angled or ergo grip for more aggressive straffing... however the stubby is the jack of all trades.
Heavy Barrels, Compensators and Muzzle Brakes help when burst firing at longer ranges, sure, the Bipod in terms of accuracy out does all these options, but Bipods are only really good for large outdoor maps.
By the way, the M249 is better than the MG4 for all you who are wondering, It has less first-shot recoil and the horizontal recoil left/right ratio is so balanced that the gun almost resets itself into place, vertical recoil is significantly lower as well.
C.T. Productions idk, PKP is better by stats and power, larger caliber, being a hybrid M240B and M60-E4, making it more jack-of-all-trades, but the M249 does it too
You say go for headshots with the shottie but I was under the impression that there was no headshot multiplier on shotguns in BF4!?
There is not. This was produced before such knowledge was available. Headshots with a slug round, however, are still quite powerful.
I didn't know there wasn't a multiplier on shotguns until recently. Over a years worth of headshots with my beloved 870 made no difference. Head glitchers got some tho!
I have another type of supporter: THE FUCKER THAT SHOOTS AN XM25 ACROSS THE MAP LIKE IN METRO FROM ALLEY ROOM BETWEEN ALLEY AND ALLEY RAMP TO LOCKERS RAMP (good thing xm25 is banned now on that server, BUT NOT EXPLOSIVE SHOTTIES).

There is no overpowered or underpowered class it's about when you use the class. The class I favor the most is engineer, but that is because I am a vehicle/anti-vehicle player on large scale maps and game modes. Whenever I play infantry only battles like locker or tdm, assault is my go to class and the mix between vehicle and infantry on rush I use recon and support, but with recon I use dmr or carbine with mav and spawn beacon, being more of a team player because I hate sniping. Support and assault are not good classes for large scale battles with vehicles and definitely not good for open vehicle intensive maps like golmud or lancang. I use support the least, though, because it is better used as sticking with your team, defending and being on the back end of the front lines because your gadgets limit you to that. That assault class gadgets enable you to be on the front lines with no reason to not be. Support simply is usually not my playstyle, but it is great got tight maps with vehicles like flood zone and it is a great class with c4. I feel that it's not about the weapons you have as your class, it's your gadgets. Recon does have a big difference between deciding to snipe or to rush in with a carbine or shotgun, but depending on your gadgets, you cannot line gun like as an assault with health
Bro believe it or not i could kill any tank 1 on 1 on a long range battle playing as support. I have no idea how people on bf4 didn't use this back in the day. Simply get off the tank ucav and then get on the battle with your enemy already wounded. Made a video about it, not trying to get views.. i swear... got shitty channel haven't uploaded in years. Back when i was in my gaming prime can't really believe i haven't played since 2017

Support is just the camper class & can fit in more easily in a squad.

people object to a machine gunner acting like a machine gunner? Thats what machine guns do in real life - set up on fixed positions that are ideal killzones and then just mow everyone down. Its so rare that support classes arent just completely useless - usually the machine gun is just an unusable assault rifle (accuracy and recoil insanely bad) with a huge magazine that takes an eternity to reload and at one time they usually did less damage and sometimes over-heated too. Glad to see its changed.

Shotguns are only a one shot at point blank range. Outside of ten feet, you need 3-6 shots to get kills. Snipers are a one shot at any range, but no one says they are op. Because the real range of a shotgun is never shown in any video game. Just stay away from the shotgun and you instantly win with ANY other weapon. Even pdws and carbines can kill past 10 feet
I hate how in BF4 they made moving while firing make you shoot at a 90 degree angle.
It makes the aggressive sniper style I enjoyed so much in BF3 practically useless.

And it's not only about quickscoping, it's the fact that if you're trying to snipe someone at a long distance, you just have to stand still and hope they miss you if you want a chance at hitting them.
Which is what a sniper does. Actually, snipers should be forced to CAMP, CAMP, CAMP… and have one or two guards against someone sneaking up on the sniping position.

Watching this 5 years later.... the case can be made that Assault has been the most unbalanced and OP class in the last two entries than any class in Battlefield games past.

Engineer is too easy for me, Recon way too hard, I prefer Combat Medic and Support class with a ballistic shield, smoke grenades and shotgun/LMG.

That's when they are played badly. Their sensors and capacity for covering fire is amazing, but I see it so rarely taken advantage of.
As the other guy said, the sensors like TUGS and drones and UCAV's are helpful but as far as stemming the tide of enemies and defending a place from an assault whether troops or vehicles, correct, they just don't do enough kills to help and this is coming from someone who LOVES to snipe in CoD.
BlueonGoldZ You have to consider their entire role is to support their team. They are not the main killers of their team.
Battlefield is not purely about kills, supporting your team is most important. Unless your team aren't very good, then you got to take up the mantle yourself, but you can't do it as Recon unless you pick up a Carbine.
Reon Thornton I know but in my experience, it seems like we need more hands on deck during any engagement with people that can at least fire 500 RPM or more as opposed to bolt guns and semi autos. In my experience, whenever I have gotten sniped, it always seemed to be some person trying to get to some interesting spot to snipe from or to troll. they never did anything to stop the capture of a flag or capture of an MCOM.
BlueonGoldZ That's why you take up a position where you can see advancing enemies, or can cover your own men.
They aren't meant to do the capturing themselves, rather, help others do so, when they are sniping.
Sniping itself, is a support role.
in my oppinion the support needs a few other gadgets like the healing bags and reviveability and better explosives like rockest and i do think assoult should have a bit better damage with its own weapons and engineer should have faster repairs and better resistance to explosives the assoult should also resist bullets a bit more the support for me in general is like: supporting the team by advancing keeping the bullets there reviving them and healing them and with engineer her should keep his mines and a few of his rocket launchers and the assoult of course should keep is grenade launchers thumbs up or tell me what is wrong with this

2nd. each class has gadgets that makes them effective in their role. Assault is the medic and infantry man, engineer is the tank hunter and...well...engineer, recon has what makes them do their jobs (snipers, tugs, sensors, MAV)
3rd. why should support has every gadget, it doesnt make sense, their gadgets are focused to supply the team, and suppress the enemy, that's it, support, not becoming the class of classes
these guys hate bipod so much that they throw words from their asses to not make people play it.

It's a very versatile class. You'll have problems on large open maps against armor, though.
