Welcome back to taking the current world record spot for this category! I'm speechless at how remarkable this has become, and if you really do go for that possible 2:11 and all, I wish you good luck on that.
I don't know much about Wrath of Cortex speedrunning compared to the PS1 trilogy (I wish there were more Speedrunning History or explanation videos for Crash Bandicoot, the only one I can think of his Crash 1 100% history), so this will be fun, even if I don't understand the tech. Congrats on the WR!
Congrats on the world record! I've always wondered, why do runners go through compactor reactor first? is it because of the auto-scroller at the beginning? or is it the fastest/longest level?
Warp 1 can be done in whatever order you want, but Compactor in particular gives you a mask that is pretty advantageous for saving a couple seconds throughout the rest of the warp room. Unfortunately I didn’t save as much time as I would’ve liked (my best warp 1 is 12;13) but yeah.
They’re either my favorite part of the run or my least favorite. It’s truly a spectacle to go fast in those stages when contrasted with most of the game.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised, but my sum of best came out to around 2;11;30, which is honestly crazy to even think about RTA, since it’s the best segment I have for every warp room piled together.
Safety I assume. That early in the run or a costly death you'd probably just reset but you never know. In that particular Bamboozled instance tho he likely would have had to wait for the elevator anyway
I know in the JP version of the original crash games have Aku Aku giving you tips about the game yet you somehow never encounter them, is there a way you can disable them?
Actually, I encounter one in both Arctic Antics (8:45) and Jungle Rumble (17:30), but in TWoC you can cancel the hints on the first frame they come out. In JP Crash 2 and 3 you can turn the SFX off, which will disable the mask hints outright. Doing so in TWoC doesn’t work, though.
@TheMcHooper Ah, I now see what you mean. There is a sound effect that plays after breaking an Aku Aku crate. Its kinda bizzare that you have to turn off SFX instead of pressing a button to skip Aku Aku hints
@@harrycarson6526well in the original games you can press the triangle button to skip the hints, however it’s way slower to skip them manually than it is to turn the SFX off to disable them altogether.
What are your Open PS2 Loader settings/version do you use for this game? My loading times are good but yours are way faster. Really Great run by the way, congrats!
I run the game via ethernet. Outside of HDD, that's the fastest way to load the game. I run a Japanese iso that I ripped myself using DAEMON Tools Lite.
You mean out of all 30 levels? I'd say the one that consistently gives me the most trouble is Eskimo Roll. You can argue that Coral Canyon is the worst simply because of all the enemies, but in a speedrun sense, that level's pretty tame.
That glitch is banned and only available in one version of the game, which is the original black label port on PS2. That port is ass anyways, so it being banned is more of a blessing than a hinderance.

😊
Crash Bandicoot The Wrath Of Cortex was my childhood and It has a special place in my heart although it’s not really a great game it’s still fun😁
I appreciate you breaking down the version/console differences in this video
Gz on the run!
You just had to spare us from the suffering. I cannot applaud you enough.
Glad I could help 👌

Really clean run! Very Nice!!

Random people: time trials have no only one console glitches! "presses select in lv4 on blacklabel"
The sound that the bats make sounds like my nose at the moment. The loading sound is so nostalgic
I needed to read this today, thank you. ☺️
The only thing that scared me when i was a kid was the dragon
we're getting close to 2:11. good run.
It's very possible for me to achieve it, but getting a run with basically 0 mistakes is extremely hard. Also thanks!
@1:36:34 that cracked me up thank you
You make this look so easy 😂❤ congratulations🎉
Average Pepsi Man Enjoyer 💙
One: Congrats on the WR.
Two: The Atlasphere levels always are clenchworthy to me, especially when trying to go fast.

Wow! GGs on 2:12! Do you think 2:10 sub is possible?

@@_McHooper Oh yeah I see. Well, 2:11 would be awesome but good job getting back the WR!
the checkpoint boxes (6:28, 8:22, and so on) are not needed for the final count? if so, why go get 7:28 for example instead of kinda cutting the turn?

Whats the worst level in twoc in your opinion? (From the 25 Levels)

Where are you stream? And where you from?
I’m from America ✌️ I stream on Twitch. twitch.tv/mchooper
after so many years of playing crash bandicoot I've just discovered checkpoints are not considered in the boxes count o.O
They count, you can just skip all the ones before the last checkpoint in the stage, which is why you see me hit some that seem out of the way.
What's with the Super Body Slam skip? Does that not count towards the 106%?
Nope. It’s a useless power up that just wastes 3 seconds of your life/run to grab. You don’t ever need it in casual play, anyways.
Love this game
@McHooper why do you have Japanese text on your splits?
For one, it matches the game; and two, I think it’s aesthetically pleasing.
@@_McHooper ok
I want to know why he doesn’t break the checkpoint boxes? Does it not count?
Check the description.
The record guys
there it is
@@_McHooper i appreciate you setting new world records in this game. I eat dinner to your runs.
Im surprised you didnt do the teleport glitch for the first medieval level during the time trial can literally finish the level in 10 seconds lol

Is the slide faster than runing ?
Usually is in every Crash game that has them.
i remember when the loading take decade to finish
which console ar e this gamme?
PS2, Original Xbox and GameCube, it can also be played on Xbox 360.
I’m playing this on PS2.
ok^^@@_McHooper
24 was my last relic to get to 106
The length of those load screens on the English ps2 version tho 😣
They’re bad on every PS2 port, but none so infamous as the black label 1.0 version, which had 40 second loading times **on average**.
@@_McHooper that's probably the one I have lol
The Xbox loading screens were way shorter.

I like to call the xbox version the "fuzzy edition" because of the fur effects that make the characters look like they need to shave.
This is the PS2 version
@@FireBlast07
I know. I was just talking about the xbox version because he mentioned it at the timestamp above.
@@themanofmotivation5237 oh, I had the volume turned down so I didn't know
Imma keep it 100 with you chief, that shit looks ugly af ☠
WOWOW
Original Xbox looked really good when it was current but PS2 ran fast, was a huge visual leap from PS1, and had so many games.

you know crash is not online game it offline
Thanks for the info, very helpful. I’ll be sure to remember that for next time.
