I noticed that too, since CHC is generally considered the hardest level in the game for its super unfair death route. Best I can assume is that there's a glitch allowing him to "bank" box breaks by activating the death route and then going back and doing the bonus round? That way he doesn't have to go back out of the death route to finish collecting the boxes.
