Visiting the MINI Factory in My Car

- Let's take the Shmini and GP2 back to their home at Plant Oxford, the MINI factory in Cowley, England. On the way, it was only right that my classic Mini would lose its front number plate in style before we rescued it on the hard-shoulder.
Upon arrival we can take a look around the facility where 1,000 cars are built per day, including Body in White, Assembly and the Paintshop to see what goes into a car taking shape.
Thanks for watching, Tim

Not again! Arrrgghhh... but luckily we found the number plate back before we continued our trip to the birthplace of the Classic Mini and current New MINI! Any MINI or Mini drivers here?
Shmee150 I have an 06' r53 mini. The last of the supercharged minis.
Shmee150 My mum has a 2014 cooper
Shmee150 mark has crazy number plates
Shmee150 when you reach 1M subs, can you do a vid where you start up all of your cars with exhaust clips
@the kid gamer, as it should be :)
17:24 RIP Plate Again 😂😂
Omg
Bond The Number plate doesn't like the car 17:24 😂😂😂
Lol
LOL
The number plate fell again just before the video ended 😂😂
Jac Wong LOL, made me laugh a lot😂😂
What a joy watching this video!!! I'm a very proud owner of a Mini Gp2 #203 !!!
I had a Mini Cooper S a view months back. That was and still the ride of my life. But for my new job I have and wife and 2 kids I have sold it, now I have Volvo V60 D4.
I would buy it again if its coming a cross my path in the years to come. I really love that car.
A top notch video after quite some time I must say. And the shmini makes it all the more beautiful! The number plate falling off twice 17:24 Hilarious
Wished I get enough money to own an old Mini 1 day. Love how they were ingeniously made tiny, but still big enough inside!
Just to let you know my father help build and test drive the mini's for the Itailian Job. He also held the record for smashing up the most vehicles in one shift after a steering wheel off a mini came off whilst testing it around longbridge - skidded into a fire escape staircase which fell down and crashing onto several vehicles. Hence he always walked with a limp.
I’m from Australia. I’ve just updated from an R56 LCI Cooper S to an F56 LCI JCW (both 3 door hatch). Both were built at the Oxford plant and shipped here - about 4 months from order to receiving them. This was worth watching!
These factory tours are your best content-please make more.
I am motoring around America in a 2011 MINI Cooper Hardtop! I actually did the same factory tour back in September. We were blown away! Such an awesome experience, especially for a MINIac such as myself!
I've been an owner of a R53 Mini for a little over a year now and I absolutely love it
I have a 2008 Mini One 1.4. My first car, and couldn't be happier! Awesome to see how it was built!
Great video, thank you for the tour of the MINI factory. I drive an F56 Mini Cooper S.... best regards from the United States -Nasir
I love the F56 S ! I've have a F55 S and love that too!
Your content ticks all the boxes. Loved this.
17:25 numberplate tired..numberplate sleep :D
Recently bought a MINI Countryman Cooper SD, wonderful car, takes me back to when I passed my test in a mini 850 in the 1980's 😃
I'm surprised you found the plate that's pretty lucky 😂
Who needs front plates anyway, right?
Love the old mini's. little go kart. perfect for the city
Kevin dylan yip..nice,,, but the cow wrapped one,,it was like they missed a sitter , that they both said something a bout in waking ,they should have , said he" Turra Cow"... from the DEESIDE.
I have a 2013 R56 that's British Racing Green with white stripes and roof and all the options that was built in Oxford. It's awesome to see the factory!
bought a Cooper s clubman last September and it makes me smile every time I drive it.
Congratulations on OVER 3000 videos Shmee!
Thank you :)
Thanks for the rare insight into the MINI factory. A stunning video about stunning cars! 😁
Factory tour was fab.
Number plate is so cool on the GP
Thanks shmee for the shmini tour of the factory. I wish they still made the old mini's.
There'll be a new category on ebay UK soon "Lost Shmee Number Plates".
LOL :D
Nice to see inside the factory again, I did my internship there :)
thank you Tim for that amazing tour of the place was bourne my Mini cheers from Mexico
Awesome video! My car was born there on March 20, 2007. Dark Silver 2007 MCS. What a cool experience to see where it was built. Thanks.
used to have a 1970 H reg Mini, 957cc or something like that, always felt so fast as you're low to the ground. Cornered like a train on rails too! Those were the days.
Interesting look at an extremely well-engineered facility, but, to me, the overwhelming sense was that there are very few non-robots (old-fashioned flesh and blood types). Of course, it's sensible, due to the scale of the operation. But what a contrast with your videos of Morgan, Aston Martin, McLaren, AMG and others (which of course make products in a vastly different price category).
Ben Smukler There are actually people feeding the robots as the robots can't grab the parts themselves. Once you load the parts into the cell, the robot then picks them and welds, rivets or whatever else it is programmed to do. Without humans, the robots wouldn't work. You also don't see many people in final assembly because they are all hiding behind the big stillages what hold the parts or they are actually in the car installing parts. It is a fascinating process, especially when you get to see it on a daily basis first hand.
Thanks for the information. I know the robots are needed for volume and consistency, and it's good to know there are some humans around the place as well :)
The classic Minis do have a lovely exhaust note.
so good to see the mini on the channel again
Love the MAD-4-MINI plate !
Nice to see where my MINI JCW was born, may one day take him back for a look myself. Thanks for the look around.
My dad used to work at the mini factory in Crowley, he lives just down the road from the factory in sandylane, I’m a oxford boy, it’s weird because I know everywhere you’ve been in oxford! My uncle got a gp2 too
Got a 2015 BRG Mini Cooper 3 door. Absolutely love my mini, being able to bomb around the back roads in it is a hell of a lot of fun. Gotta replace it at the end of the year & I'm planning to do so with another Mini, though I might go Clubman to get a bit more boot space for my wheelchair. It all depends on what the Motability prices are at the time.
I've got a Mini Countryman S, it's just like a go kart, a lot of fun behind the steering wheel.
Love the number plate
THANKS, TIM AND CREW
Mine gets built next week, JCW Hatch, cant wait so enjoyed this, thanks Tim!
My 2012 clubman is my favorite possession
love the ShMINI
How nice of you to be allowed to film inside the Mini Factory i did the tour in 2014 but would like to go again in the near future if i could afford my dream Mini it would be the 5 door Mini cooper SD Hatchback with automatic gearbox
love the MINI factory tour
Nice legal plate on the new mini
MINI rulezzz.. I have a MINI Roadster Cooper S which had some mods.... and now building up a fully tuned GP2. And yes... I'm Dutch as well :-)
Marc's GP2 is seriously COOL!
Great video Tim!,I live in Oxford and love this kind of video,my fav video you've ever made was was the cvk regera video.....great stuff well done
Most interesting......didn't know the robotics where now so dominant in the car production process....Incredible!
I went to that factory a few weeks ago on a college trip. Such an interesting experience 😃
yup me i drive a 59 plate mini cooper D and for what it is it shifts pretty well and drives lovely and the gear box wow don't get me started love my car I've done some stuff to it not performance wise yet but may do soon
Now I know a lot of cars are made like this, but to see it in action, am I the only one that thinks it's completely soulless?
Min classics. I've had 2 vans, a pickup,a 1275GT, an 850 I stuck a 1399 in (I built the motor), a couple of estates, a clubman that had a fibreglass flipfront, a screaming 1275 road legal (hrmph) stripped out, caged, straight cut box, 45DCOE Weber pseudo race/rally car and a few others.
Oh and my dad had an estate when I was born, that was switched for a van with rear seats (conversion), my sister has had mini's and the 850 used to be my mums. You can probably guess that a lot of my friends also had minis.
Great content. Thank you!
wow very excited for this
Brilliant. Real hi quality output Tim.
I own a lighting blue cooper S in japan)) love your classic one!
This is so cool!
Hey Shmee. You should really upgrade you camera to more framerates cuz this moving makes me so dizzy...
You haven't watched the last two videos? ;) This was shot before the time with the AMG GT C Roadster.
Shmee150 THANK YOU! Finally we get smooth videos :D
(60fps would be better though, as most screens have a 60hz refresh rate, but 50fps is a huge improvement from 30, so I'm really happy about that :D )
Shmee150 I see, anyways keep up the good work you do! :)
50 fps is what cameras in Europe use, 60 fps is what US cameras use... That is how it works really ;)
Shmee150 I know. That is why I set my camera to American mode. Just to get the smooth 60fps :3 📷
Absolutely fascinating. So I've just parted with an RS3 and bought another mini as a bridge car whilst I wait for something else to arrive. Our
Mini came with with something called a pro tuning kit and it's very very loud. Fun car. Interesting video Tim.
Even though I do not like these cars at all, this video was very cool to watch - what a factory ! Enjoy the current tour, Tim :)
Thanks for the excellent tour of factory! Love the Shmini. Got a 2007 Mellow Yellow (color no longer available) Cooper S, wife loves the color. Dropped by dealer for more info on upcoming EV Cooper, once goes on sale it will be addition to family. Yes, put a deposit for the upcoming 2020 Mini Cooper GP, can't wait to get this in my hand! Someday, it will be a treat to visit factory, home of the Mini!
Love the shmini, love your videos and cars aswell shmee
R53, it puts a smile on my face.
17:24 THE NUMBER PLACE I NEARLY SCRWAMED WHY IS IT SO FUNNY
I had to laugh at the number plate falling off again right at the end of the video, lol
Great Job TIm. 👍😎
You should have a container of spare plates!
My son and my partner saw you driving down Edgware Road in your Aston Martin gt8 after they'd been car spotting along Park Lane and that day we had been to the mini factory Oxford and the following Monday we went on a tour in a classic mini like yours but it was blue and it had a sunroof. Seeya from Adelaide, South Australia.
Great Video, enjoyed that. I have a Gen 3 F56 Cooper. Awesome car and handles like its on rails!!!
the Shmini is awesome...
That's not a mini factory, it's huge...LOL Great video, amazing factory. A 1000 a day? Didn't know so many people bought Minis. All I could think of was "Terminator" watching all the automated machines....LOL

I drive my '09 MINI JCW :)) factory, love it !!
Back in the early 90's I owned a 1979 Mini 1000. Now I'm saving my pennies (lots of them!) for a new Cooper S 5-door.
Great video, however the first MINI's were built at BMC, Longbridge, Birmingham
Good to know Mini is still built in the UK 👏👏 good video
@Shmee - do they make the engines there in Oxford?
You might have seen my car go through! if finished in the factory 2 days ago, got a Mini Works 210 coming along soon
Had a British Racing Green Cooper S (Mark's body style) - white stripes, Union Jack on the roof, antisocial exhaust ;) Someone in a Camry ended it, miss it every day.
