What kind of "presence" do you have to possess to make one person in an audience that large feel you're speaking directly to them?Yeah, that girl near the end. Phil must have been a truly awsome stage presence.
This is Lizzy...You can just go on and on and on and...their catalouge is massive with one number after another rockin' harder...the best ever! Never tiring!
My friend and I saw them on this tour, in Seattle, they headlined at the arena for about 18,000 people. Clouds of sweet 'smoke' in the air, hot chicks with tank tops, whiskey flasks tucked into our socks. (This is before searches). Awesome sh**. Of the hundreds of shows I've seen - Lizzy was probably the best of all. Lynott was the essence of cool. I remember he wore those black canvas sneakers, the kind you can't find these days.
R.I.P. Phil! I was lucky to meet them at Warner Bros. Records in New York in 1979. Ah, the joys of my rock writer days... They were a great band, live or recorded. They will be missed.
Eternally out here. Had the honour of seeing Lizzy Live in the Glasgow Appollo in '82. Seen too many since and nothing compares. Paid my respects to ur statue and ur final resting place.....Thank you for being out there xxxxxx Your inspiration lives on forever!! The reason God built a stage xxxxxx
This band was the loudest real shit around. Kicking butt from Mosman to Mount Druitt. The Steps of the Sydney Opera House were bouncing up and down in time with Phils Bass notes, the kick drum and the dual attack of screaming guitars. I know because I was there and it was like god was speaking to me in his true form and shape a Black Irish Bass playing Mother Fucker, igniting a passion for life and thumping rock in a 14 year old boy that still burns to this very day. Thanks God
This video is an excellent example of the thing that made this band so great to listen to - sincere energy & enjoyment while on stage. Great video - these boys brought their tools to work - and used them to great effect. Wow.
What a band, makes give up on today's bands. Thin Lizzy one of the best of the best Rock band ever. I love u2 but there is no way you can compare this band to u2.
These guys are amazing. Its like Warren Zevon. Those of us who actually know about them are the biggest fans of anyone. And I personally like the fact no one knows about them. It makes us fans even more cooler
This is the first song I ever saw any band do live in concert - Thin Lizzy opened for Queen in Vancouver in 1976, and they played this to start their set.
The word cool and all the creamy goodness it conveys was created in anticipation of Phil Lynott's arrival on Earth. The greatest, most charismatic showman I've ever seen live.
I can't believe it I was actually at this gig as a 15yr old and I still have a Thin Lizzy mirro badge, the band were throwing out into the audience..and I am still going to concerts & festivals and still get into the front row even now.
I remember being at a disco in the late sixties/early seventies sitting next to a group of guys having a good drink and a laugh. Then they got up, picked up their guitars and started to play . Thats when I first saw Thin Lizzy
dude , thats awesome takes me back to when i saw them open for journey here in my home town of tulsa, oklahoma that same year ....only difference was i was 1 year older than you ! cheer's from HOT ass oklahoma ! laney'
@enternollie93 It DOES SUCK that Phil Lynott died, and now Thin Lizzy will never produce another CD with him! That Band absolutely Rocked the Solar System! It's good to see that people still appreciate that kind of High Energy Rock! Peace to you then! Keep on listening!
I saw a big Australian act of the time 'Skyhooks' around '78, near same size crowd as this. Without security being the wiser a guy climbed one of the Opera House shells to the top and mooned the whole crowd, music was stopped till he came down. Band then played a song 'Why Dont You All Get Funked', all the crowd sang along changing the words a touch...coulda be heard all across Sydney.lol.
@enternollie93 I am a nonviolent person in general, but I'd have to agree in this case. How could you not love this song? Thin Lizzy rocked the Earth to its core!
This song rocks. Thanks for posting it. What a crowd! This is our bands favorite. Check out Houston Texas's LandShark playing Cowboy Song. Search LandShark Cowboy Song Forrest.
so sad - my first lp ever was lizzy jailbreak, when gary replaced Roberson they struck a beauty with BLACK ROSE - what a talent in all respects... take it to the skies GARY!
Guy's it's possible to like 2 bands and many more , know that right? I mean i love thin Lizzy, but also Ac/Dc. There both great, so stop saying they are a joke. And i agree this was a great performance.
The drummer is Mark Nauseef - a temporary replacement for this and the preceeding US tour. Nauseef was formerly of the Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) solo band. Brian Downey didn;t make this tour due to personal reasons.

Lizzy at the height of their powers. What a great band and Phil Lynott was amazing.
They don't make 'em like this anymore! Simply amazing!! That is all.

Oh God, this brings back memories. I was there in that crowd! I loved this band and saw them every time they came out. Miss you, Phil Lynott!
First band I ever saw in concert... they opened for Queen January 20, 1977. One of the most underappreciated bands ever. Phil Lynott, R.I.P.
So many bands owe Thin Lizzy, because they were one of the first Bands to have the Twin-Lead Guitar attack.
This is the first song I ever saw any band do live in concert - Thin Lizzy opened for Queen in Vancouver in 1976, and they played this to start their set.
grande canzone

Saw Thin Lizzy as the 'warmup' for Queen at Madison Square Garden in '76 or '77, and have loved them since...Jailbreak was always a hot number live!
