Agree with all comments! Saw Downey/Robertson/Lynott/Gorham at Brunel Uni 76 and Hammy not far away 77..... as I never saw Zep, the best rock band I've ever seen. Lucky to be there (and at Brunel the Pistols and Curved Air and Feelgoods and Stanglers and many times Graham Parker + Rumour and Eddie + Hotrods.... and I somehow got a degree!

My favorite band in high school during the 1970s along with UFO both of which I got to see several times live in Indianapolis. Both bands sounded better live and had great live albums. Freaking Heroin killed Phil and the creativity of the band in later years. I’m still pissed.

I saw Lizzy at the Glasgow Apollo in 1977…Me and a mate headed down there with no tickets and no money, intending to listen to the band in the side street next to the venue (it was almost as loud out there as it was inside!). Fortunately for us the side door flew open as a bouncer chucked some poor kid out of the venue and down the stairs, leaving the door open behind him…we didn’t need an invitation! Both of us bolted in as quick as our 16 yr old legs could carry us and disappeared into the darkened hall before the bouncer could catch us! I can still see the mirror scratch plate on Phil Lynott’s bass reflecting the spotlight high into the venue ceiling like a laser beam! It’s funny how images like that stick in your mind!

I’ve always felt Scott Gorham got slightly overlooked as a guitarist as Lizzy usually had the likes of Gary Moore, Brian Robertson, John Sykes and Snowy White taking the guitaring focus from him. But he could hold his own with all of those guys!

I’m sure that’s Peter Green’s Les Paul, the famous “Greeny”, that Gary Moore’s playing!
