Christmas Eve of 2023 was the first year I missed a family Christmas in 27 years, I get a text from my nephew while I'm at work "I miss you. I'm sad I didn't get to see you." And I almost balled. My boss was confused until I told her then she was like "if you need to cry, I get it. It baffles me to know this and find this out often from other people. I have two brothers who are 2.5 yrs younger than me and 12 yrs younger than me and we are close. Super close we hug tell each other we love each other, have big family dinners when we are all together, have a sibling group chat, etc. i can't imagine never not having a good relationship with my brothers (I'm the older sister)
My older sister, by 2.5 years, is the reason I have trust issues and bad hearing. She used to turn the stereo up really loud when I was around 5 years old, until I would scream at the top of my lungs from the severe pain in my ears caused by my ear drums rupturing. To this day, I can only hear higher pitches, so if someone has a deep voice, I can hear them speaking but can't make out what they are saying. She also used to let her friends spit on me till I was drenched. I'm 38 years old now, so that gives reference of how long ago it was. My parents divorced when I was 8 years old. She never did these things when my parents were around. When I was in the 6th grade she bit me on the back of my arm, right above the elbow, it hurt so badly I don't know how she didn't break the skin, but it left a massive purple bruise with teeth marks. I remember my teacher keeping me after class because she saw it when I raised my hand. But I guess it wasn't much of an issue after I said my sister bit me and that it wasn't caused by my parents because I never heard anything else about it from anyone else at school. My father, however, was livid when he found out what she did after he got home from work and found me asleep in my closet with a sheet wrapped around my upper arm after she bit me. So yes, siblings that are very close to each other is a rarity to me!

That is the hope, sure. But Men, no worries, you can also feel shocked in the beginning, or nothing at all. Some women feel that too. They’re so judged by society’s expectations that they have to say how wonderful everything is and they encouraged to display happiness and joy at all costs even though they’re maybe living their own person feelings. That often leads to even tragic outcomes. So i guess both men and women that are dealing with their child for the first time: every feeling is valid as long as it’s not harmful toward you or the ppl around you. Some Men suffer from depression too after the arrival of a baby, biological or not. If they adopt, the parents are tired, challenged, emotionally spent and confused as much as biological parents. To this day the world puts mothers in front of fathers, even in those cases were mothers are really happy about their partners or have adopted ❤not delivered the baby, so they share the same amount of effort through it all. So i think it’s good to give men hope, that their feelings are valid. In time you can fall in love with the idea of being a parent or with your children knowing them, caring for them.😊 There’s no need to rush. Enjoy your experience as you like. Be true to your feelings but be open to a possible dialogue with a partner or a jungian psychoanalyst, ( those, when real certified therapists, can help you find out how you really feel about the situation.) There are ppl who will NOT judge you for needing time to figure out what you really feel and if you need months or years to adjust to stick around and feel good about it all, that’s totally fine. At least it’s much better to find help then avoid the situation or abandon it. Not everyone feels the same in the same situations, you’d be surprised…

My uncle did too. I am almost 60 years old. He loves to talk about when I was little and pushing me around in a stroller downtown. He is my dads baby brother. Even to this day, he calls me baby girl when I call him. I love him dearly. He tells me how I was like a daughter to him. He was much more a dad than my own father, who was hardly ever around.

Hey Kids… I’m 81 years old so I know what I’m talking about. This is how families are supposed to look. Kindness, fairness AND love. If these 3 things are present, life is good.
God bless this new uncle. He seems to have so much love in him. My sister excommunicated myself, my father, and my family (it's complicated but unwarranted). And ever since then I have not been allowed to see my niece and nephew. My heart is absolutely broken and I break down everytime I hear about them or see photos of them. I wish I could reconcile with my sister, because I love them so dearly. I was excommunicated because I raised my voice once because they were screaming loudly whilst running around the house. Mind you, I should not have raised my voice, but it was not in a scary mannor, more of like a Dad-tone of voice. I have sensory processing disorder and it was knee-jerk reaction. If I could go back in time and have had better control I would have. I only told them to "keep it down" and they were completely unphased by it. As it was not in a harsh or mean way. But, my sister can be harsh and easily cuts people off from her life if they are not perfect. She has not spoken to myself, my father, or family in years. My soul is shattered, I only hope to make it up to the one day when they are older to make their own choices and all I can do is apologize and explain the situation without bad mouthing their mother. Of which I will do. I do not mean to steal the spotlight from this amazing new uncle. It just hit me in the feels and I miss them so much, excuse my selfishness. Congrats to this family, the child, and this very proud uncle. I love this dearly. And I miss you both (my niece and nephew and I am sorry).
Ok the fact the mom went along with the naming after little brother instead of the dad was beautiful. A lot of men want Jr's so being named after an uncle is amazingly blessed.
My son’s middle name is after my brother also. He was touched😅 to learn it was my husband’s idea too. My brother died of a heart attack quite young - so glad about my son’s name being he never had a son of his own.

I do not know this family, but I can surmise...there is so much love going on between these brothers that it spills over to the nephew.

God bless this new uncle. He seems to have so much love in him. My sister excommunicated myself, my father, and my family (it's complicated but unwarranted). And ever since then I have not been allowed to see my niece and nephew. My heart is absolutely broken and I break down everytime I hear about them or see photos of them. I wish I could reconcile with my sister, because I love them so dearly. I was excommunicated because I raised my voice once because they were screaming loudly whilst running around the house. Mind you, I should not have raised my voice, but it was not in a scary mannor, more of like a Dad-tone of voice. I have sensory processing disorder and it was knee-jerk reaction. If I could go back in time and have had better control I would have. I only told them to "keep it down" and they were completely unphased by it. As it was not in a harsh or mean way. But, my sister can be harsh and easily cuts people off from her life if they are not perfect. She has not spoken to myself, my father, or family in years. My soul is shattered, I only hope to make it up to the one day when they are older to make their own choices and all I can do is apologize and explain the situation without bad mouthing their mother. Of which I will do. I do not mean to steal the spotlight from this amazing new uncle. It just hit me in the feels and I miss them so much, excuse my selfishness.
Congrats to this family, the child, and this very proud uncle. I love this dearly. And I miss you both (my niece and nephew and I am sorry).
