The Secret I Kept From My Wife Until Our Wedding Day

- For nearly a year, I have been keeping a big secret from my wife, @SoheeFit.
I kept sneaking off for 30 minutes at a time for video calls she didn’t know about, or pretending they were for work when they weren’t.
In bed I would often put one headphone in so she couldn’t hear what I was doing, and turning my screen away so she couldn’t see either.
I set myself a goal of learning just a teeny tiny bit of Korean as a show of respect to her and her family on our wedding day.
I wasn’t originally planning on sharing this video from a couple of months ago, because I try to make social media about posting educational content for you all.
But, it seems silly not to share one of the most important days of my life.
So, here is my full wedding speech, for any of you who are interested.

This might sound skeptical...But only Time will tell. But one Truly feels happy for them on this particular occasion, regardless of what life may have in store for them.

@@peaceBWY101I did notice that she kept pretty dry eyed, it appeared like she was only making it look like she was holding off tears. Largely because her maid of honor really was fighting the tears back and she couldn't be seen reacting less emotional than her.
And in the moments she knew she needed to make reaction, the ones she gave didn't seem to fit the context and were slightly odd. Not exactly the right matching expressions for the context.
You could tell what she was trying to do with the bottom lip reaction, but it seemed to be all she was relying on and it started to reveal just a hint of unaffectedness behind the outward display.
It could just be an Asian thing though, who san say..
When her father gets up and goes and hugs him, It was the moment I knew he's made a great choice in life. Congratulations Ben.
His in-laws already approved of him, but that speech in Korean showed massive respect to the family and they were obviously very moved by it. Beautiful.

64 year old grumpy and grizzled old biker here. Mate, you brought tears to this old f****rs eyes with your eloquent, heartfelt and genuinely moving speech. Learning Korean on the ‘quiet side’ was a truly loving move. I wish you both well and may your giggles never stop.

Don’t know why this showed up in my feed but now I’m sitting here crying over a wedding speech for two people I’ve never met. I want to show this to every single woman I know (including my two youngest daughters) and tell them to find a man who will love you like this.

I've been married twice and wish one of those men had half of the love for me that he shows for her and maybe we would still be married. I too will never have love like this. They are lucky to have each other and I wish a long and happy life for them both.

I did exactly the same as you when I got married in Hong Kong just 3 weeks ago. I had been learning Mandarin on an app on my iPad for just over 3 years & spoke in front of my wife’s family in Mandarin as most of them do not speak English. I wanted to do it to show respect to them & thank goodness they understood what I was trying to say & I secretly learnt a Chinese song to sing to my wife & I sang it in front of her family It was one of the most nerve racking thing I’ve ever done but I’m so glad I did it.
But they speak Cantonese in Hong Kong…
@@akakong88 I know they speak Cantonese in Hong Kong but the majority of my wife’s family live in China hence the reason why I spoke Mandarin to them.
And then he got to the wedding and realized they all spoke Cantonese.... shit!

I don’t even know him personally. And he made me cry. He really has a big heart and he must love his wife very much. In my book , he has earned my respect.
I saw the short to this and am happy there was a tip that there was this nine minute video. I loved it when Sohees parents got up to hug him and show their appreciation and acceptance.

What an eloquent and thoughtful act and speech. The bride is absolutely beautiful however I was so very taken with how beautiful and elegant the mother of the bride was.

Last year my daughter was married here in Cyprus where we've lived since 1999. Making speeches is not done in Greek weddings but I spent 2 months writing/translating/rewriting & rehearsing it & not only shocked the guests but delighted them too especially my new son in law.

I have a Korean wife and I always thought about learning Korean to talk to her father whom I respected dearly but I never did it and he's since passed. I feel like shit now (for not doing the same) but what you did is a sign of true love! Great job brother!

Amazing what love does to us. Five months after I met my wife, I went a little crazy and proposed (actually, I bought the ring after three months but gave it time so I didnt scare her away 😅). A year later, we were married, and now we're ten years on, we only love each other even more (which really didn't seem possible). Will forever be the best choice we ever made... even if it was also the most absurd.
