Well, it would appear that .50 cal muzzle blast can cause long term memory loss.
yeah it'd probably make you deaf too

@@brixenlang3207 Hey guys, I guess that's it.
Sometimes I suddenly remember how close we were to losing this man, and it makes me appreciate every single video so much more....
Keep on inspiring, Scott, you absolutely unstoppable beast!
Please what happened?
Go watch his previous video roughly a year ago. He had a 50BMG explode on him.
@@ahmani23 go back a bit on his channel, you'll see some interesting stuff. My mans had a .50 cal blow up in his face, and he's still with us.
It’s scary how close Scott came to being that gelatin head.
He’s extremely lucky. I’d bet his level of health/fitness prior to the accident contributed significantly to his survival/recovery
I'm not gonna lie I was expecting him to pull out an 88mm flak cannon just to see how much damage a muzzle break could really do
The Flak 18/36/41 that you're probably thinking of doesn't have a muzzle break.
However, the KwK 36 L/56 (Tiger 1), KwK 43 L/70(King Tiger), or PaK 43(anti-tank towed piece) do have muzzlebreaks.
But the 88mm flak didn't have a muzzle brake
1 word would be the result: evaporated
He pulls up with a freaking M1A2 Abrams LMAO
Don't tempt him! 😂
Muzzle blast is no joke. I remember reading about an actor who was not very comfortable with guns but to show everyone else on the set he wasn't afraid of guns he put a .44 mag to his head and pulled the trigger. Even though the gun had blanks in it the muzzle blast killed him instantly.
Just because there's no bullet doesn't mean blanks aren't dangerous.
Thats why your taught to always treat a gun like its loaded
That 338 Lapua was quite surprising
Yea dude, I expected a lot more damage.
I lay on a mat 2 targets down from a couple 338 on Stickledown. The blast was enough to rock me, so I had to fire whilst his target was being pasted up.
Honestly not sure if it’s logical, but I wonder if no muzzle break would do more damage to the skull as the break looks to disperse the blast over more area than the end of a barrel would.
No muzzle break means that the gasses disperse over more of a cone in front of the barrel. The ports in the break focus the gasses.
Muzzle brakes work primarily when the bullet has left the muzzle and has not yet passed through the first set, second set, or third set of baffles. When the bullet is passing through the first baffle, there's a ton of high velocity gas exiting the muzzle behind the bullet, that gas hits the first baffle and does a 90° turn due to little room around the circumference of the bullet to pass forward, shooting out sideways. A well designed baffle will shed equal amounts of gas in opposite directions creating equalized jets of gas laterally (or diagonally backward, depending on design), the result of which being no muzzle movement, but a severe reduction in gasses left shooting forward in the direction of the bullet. That's the idea, a reduction in recoil. Recoil happens like the reaction a rocket has, the gas going one direction and the rifle going the opposite.
I’m not sure whether the 50cal was impressive , or frightening 😮
Both
Yes
Makes me wonder what 14.5x115 would do
Now that’s a lot of damage lol
Or 23mm....
At 6:38 Scott’s reaction to the hand. Priceless 😂.
His reactions are the real reason we watch let’s be honest 😂
No duh
That’s a one spicy muzzle blast…
These ballistic analogs are much healthier for mental health compared to having to look at how bullets move through the real bodies of the dead people bro.
@TheAnnoyingBoss Are you ok?
I got one for you Kentucky. I was wondering if the recoil of a slide coming back upon firing a round would break your jaw bone.
Depends on caliber but it def can on some
I think it’s be more likely to break your orbital bone. I’m imagining someone trying to hold a handgun super close to their face to aim it like you would a rifle
Well yeah if you put it up to your face
Impressive! Science is still alive and well.
Sounds like a well learned lesson if somebody does it.
Scott actually has a good sense on what he would consider lethal or just injury. Must say to himself “yeah I think I could handle that one”
Yeah After what he went through I'm not surprised that he knows what he can handle.
Yeah lol😂
@@anderson6606 true… I almost forgot about this
Of course, what's lethal to Scott, and what's lethal to us mere mortals is way different.
The amount of damage the .50 did is just mind blowing 😁

🤣The waterproof case reminds me of a technician friend of mine at a commercial 2-way radio dealer. The latest walkie talkie had come out and the salesman was in trying to convince him that it was totally waterproof. So my friend grabbed it and walked back to the garage where a big tub of water sat and shoved it under! Ooops! Not waterproof after all!🤣

Sweet how you and 1shot do the same video. You should make a video with him sometime.

Repent and trust in Jesus. We all deserve Hell for our sins, such as lying lusting coveting and more. We can't save ourselves, but Jesus can save us. He died on the cross to save us for our sins and rose from the grave defeating death and Hell. You must put your faith in him only. He is the only way to Heaven. Repent and trust in Jesus.

I was supprised about the hand exploding 🤯. That's definitely happened in real life before

Hand: *completely obliterated, missing all fingers but the thumb*

2:30 that looks like a cursed CoD gunsmith weapon, good lord.
Scott, thank you for your educational videos, I believe you have made some great insights on range safty, I especially liked the hand being blown apart.
New meaning of the word headache. Awesome videos Scott.
7:58 YIKES FOREVER!!!
Great video, never new muzzle could do that much damage, like seriously, Wow!!
0:34 "my bad"💀
Weird, it's almost like Scott was afraid that 50 BMG might explode or something. Where would he get a crazy idea like that from?
Can you do a video on how vehicles are affected by muzzle blast?
i can tell you they do some damge.
in a moment of stupid. i was sighting in my 7mm rem mag, ( no muzzle break ) and i set it up on my jeeps hood and sight in on my targe. making sure i was away from wind sheild about 1 1/2 ft. well i pulled trigger and shattered my wind shield. very expensive shoot it turned out. cost of bullet and wind shield.. knowledge, the more you know.
They wouldn't be
@@outdoorsythings2573 I was gonna say try putting like a metal sheet over your windshield but that wouldn't work so just stick to not shooting near windows lol
Edwin Sarkissan recently did a video where he fired his 50 through the open side windows of his car in order to get cover. The muzzle was inside the car when he fired and it was no surprise that the windshield broke.
@@outdoorsythings2573 I recently got a bolt action rifle in that caliber so that’s good to know. I’ll have to make sure I don’t rest it on a hood when I shoot it
The amount of energy released in the .50 BMG muzzle blast appears to be enough to blow the lungs out of the body. I never knew the 50 was almost as powerful as 9mm.🤯
The things that idiot says…
You think that's bad? You oughta see what the AR-15 does! That assault weapon blows the body _off the lung!_
Didn't expect that much damage from the muzzle blast. Wow! Awesome video as always!
That skull explosion 👌🏻🤭 best ballistics test of 2022
Scott: “So… How lethal is muzzle blast?”
Also Scott, with a Barrett: *YES*
Wow, I didn't expecting that !! Awesome !
I very like your channel because you test things with logic in order to compare results.
Thanks from France !
All the focus on gun safety recently makes me really happy. Thank you for doing what you do
You can definitely take this further by testing muzzle blast on all kinds of things. Great job as always, Scott!
That definitely clears your sinuses🤣
absolutely 💯
First time I shot my 50 cal I found out what that felt like, lol. The other cool factor to that was the atmospheric change, I could see my breath for a few seconds on a 90 degree day.
4:49 - funniest table throw.
Wow! That was an amazing amount of force. Thanks !
What i found surprising was the hand. With that kind of damage it would be lethal.
would be interesting hey! a real hand would be a fair bit tougher than those ballistic ones but it would do a lot of damage thats for sure lol
@@goddard0011 I'm pretty sure a real hand would still be so horribly mangled that an amputation of what's left would be necessary.
@@Minuteman4Jesus oh for sure lol
That hand flying across the range was awesome! 😂
Oddly enough the damage was similar to the hand belonging to the guy who used a 50 bmg round to hammer a pin on a gun mount. You can find that picture with google.
2:24 "Guys i just bought a gun from Ohio!"
Missed an opportunity for the "lost my guns in a boating accident" joke for the waterproof gun case ad
Thanks Scott that was very entertaning and great info
And the thing to remember is that only half of the energy produced by each gun was directed to zombie head and hand. The damage must be far more destructive than what we saw.

Hold on Scott, if the vulcan gun case is water proof how can anyone lose their guns in a boating accident?
Asking for a friend.
Chain and concrete block. Could get windy out in the boat.
Just tell the assholes it was sunk by a sub. They believe anything anyway 😊
It happens when you go to throw the anchor out, and the gun case catches on the chain... Truly unfortunate
I was completely unsurprised, but thats because i did similar experiments with my Noreen when i had it. I watched this because your antics and showmanship 100% keep me entertained. God bless man!
HOLY CRAP! That 50 BMG blast was so devastating I think it may have been as bad as actually being shot with a shotgun! 😮
He pressed the skull against the muzzle. Creating a secondary explosion. Kinda feel bad for the gun
3:09 i love how scotts conclusion to his experiment is "most likely"
I can't believe how devastating the 50 blast was!! Great stuff Scott! Keep it up!
Great episode but this makes me curious if a longer Barrel will have a more damaging muzzle blast than a shorter one. And how significant the difference would be.
Should be less damaging -- the longer the barrel, the lower the muzzle blast pressure is. Probably not lower enough to make a difference, though!
@@tjh44961 actually the pressure has more tike to build up so it would be much worse
@@joshlower3520 You might think so, but it’s actually not the case. Just like a .22 LR bullet in a long barrel is actually slowing down before it exits the muzzle, because the pressure behind it is falling, or in an AR-15 with a rifle length gas system as opposed to one with a carbine length gas system - the gas port for the longer gas system is larger than that for the shorter. It’s because the pressure is higher closer to the chamber. The port for the longer gas system is larger because it takes more volume of gas to produce the same force to operate the action reliably. The pressure is higher in the shorter system, so it uses a smaller gas port to allow enough gas volume to operate the bolt. The “normal” barrel length for the M2 BMG is 45”, so a much shorter barrel like the one in the video is going to release gas at a much higher pressure at the muzzle than the full-length barrel, where most of the propellant is already burned by the time the bullet exits the muzzle.
@@tjh44961 depends on the caliber. A 22 is a poor example. A 28 nosler on the other hand would have more pressure out of a 30 inch barrel then a 26.
@@tjh44961 no the 50 bmg with a 45 inch barrel will have more pressure as its designed with that length with powder burn time in mind. Not the brightest there bud.
I think that it would be interesting to try a similar experiment with the cylinder gap on high powered revolvers.
That was incredible. This guy's awesome.
The sheer amount of dedication put into Scott's videos is just fenominal. Never fails to impress 👏
Merry Christmas Scott!! Thanks for the fun videos!! You are my favorite gun channel now. The poupon everything was epic!!
This is the video I have been waiting for someone to make. Thank you.
Awesome video, great content as always!
I never knew a muzzle blast could that much damage. That’s nuts. You should see what it would do to armor
Hence why we say don't fire blanks near people either. The blast will affect you if close. I'd imagine a .50 cal blank could do some damage.
50bmg is another animal entirely from other rifles. It wasn't meant to stop enemy soldiers, it was made to stop enemy HELICOPTERS.
What great info , really enjoyed, thanks
6:26 I gotta *hand* it to ya Scott for taking safety seriously
scott your laugh after everthing is infectious
Yeah I figured as much after seeing how lethal 12GA blanks are.
THAT 50 is just straight up UNHOLY DAMAGE!

Lol
My head hurts from this. The hand flying across the field so good.
I have felt the muzzle blast from a Barrett .50 cal, and I'm not the least surprised at the results.
3:49 how does he know what burnt hair smells like
What
That is some Tremors level carnage from that 50!!!
That amount of pressure is absolutely crazy and pretty terrifying
That amount of pressure can give you a slight migraine, tinnitus, and blindness for the rest of your life, literally
That was lots of fun. What would be interesting to see is to test the stories of the shock wave from the bullet being strong enough to cause grievous bodily harm. One hears things about arms coming off and the like. In my Army days, we'd aim the M2 at long range materiel targets and see the silhouette targets well below the bullet get knocked down hard by the shock wave.
Takes blown away to another level!
Jesus Christ, that 50 Cal muzzle blast was CRAZY!!!
Best ending ever, Peter!!! Love watching your videos over and over!!!
