He was an imam at the center I worked for, he was involved in a separate scandal. 2. Yes you're absolutely right and that country is Pakistan. My home country. Your comments about girls and about polygyny were in bad taste. The thing is that this specific example happened to little boys, and that it has nothing to do with the availability of marriage or polygyny. This is a disease in the heart, and people who act on this sickness have been abandoned by Allah. Even the venerated scholars of the past warned about this (the attraction to beardless youth and children in general), and marriage wasn't even among the top 3 solutions for the issue. The solutions were DON'T LOOK at beardless youth, FAST, complete fard AND NAFL salah, busy yourself with halal things like sport or increasing your knowledge. Also, this is a GLOBAL problem, and polygyny is socially accepted in many countries. Try to look at things outside of the Western lens. Additionally, sham marriages are sham marriages. You had a video not long ago about Mohammed Hijab "endorsing" a type of sham marriage.. They have nothing to do with public opinion on polygyny. I know plenty of people personally and have seen/heard situations online whereby the wife is totally fine with polygyny and the husband cheats anyway. Monogamous people cheat, and polygamous people STILL CHEAT. Even among the Mormons, Amish and Sephardic Jews who practice polygamy, they STILL have this issue with grooming, and CSA. I think people need to come to terms with the idea that there are people that Allah put on this earth to be a test for us. There are people who are just sick and Allah has abandoned them. Of course, we can't JUDGE except by what is apparent. In the case of this video, Allah allowed it to become apparent and it should have been addressed properly. That old man was SHAMELESS in his sin. Saying polygyny is the answer to illicit sexual relations doesn’t make sense to me. You would have to explain to me why polygyny capped at 4 is the most optimal as a solution specifically for the problem of zina. No one could say. Therefore, I don’t believe we should be making conjectures such that haram happens because polygyny is not that common. No. Haram happens due to weak faith and weak submission to God. Maybe this is just a western Muslim way of thinking but i can tell you in the Middle East people are able to remain chaste for a very long time out of the fear of Allah, in a way that western Muslims simply on a whole do not. Some Middle Eastern cultures polygyny is frowned upon for the common man because he is a common man and should thus be merciful to the feelings of his common wife instead of lowering hers and children’s living standards just to meet ‘extra desires’ , do those men necessarily fall into secret relationships? Not just on this topic but Imam Nick has always been a real one and genuine and often spoke on those heavy hitting issues that you can tell made the community uncomfortable but needed to hear but they didn't want to hear the truth. I was sad when I heard the news he wasn't going to be leading that community anymore. There was a time he connected with me to perform Islamic appropriate spoken word poetry at the masjid event and being a black revert that meant something to me. He was always for improving the community and making sure no group was left out. May Allah bless him and his family and keep him steadfast in the deen, I hope he's still teaching, and still dropping that Haqq with the vigor he did back then wherever he may be.

yes we have to support Imam Nick because this is not an isolated incident but a widespread problem in Pakistan and now here. I as a Pakistani myself, I would keep my kids away from the mosque or Islamic center if the "imam" was trained in a Pakistani madrassa because that's where most poor kids are sent and experience such abuse which they direct at other kids after taking leadership positions in same institutions as adults. Its a vicious cycle. By speaking up about it, we are not only helping Imam Nick and affected children here but thousands of voiceless victims in Pakistan itself.

Something similar happened in a Dublin mosque. There was a man teaching Quran and he sexually assaulted a little girl. She told her parents and the man was sent home to Bangladesh to avoid getting arrested. His grown up daughter gave interviews because their home was targeted by angry people (non Muslims). It's disgusting what is being covered up in Muslim communities to save face.

I saw a video once 15+ years where an elder man was abusing a little boy and all the while he was holding the Quran on his hand and the kids is reciting it. @John14ver6 Age traditions were lower between 6 - 10 mostly everywhere, especially in Christianity and Judaism until 1920. Google(age of consent USA 1880). Female adulthood was define by age of puberty i.e(8 - 10, 12). We can't apply age standards of today on the previous generations. 👍 for example: according many Rabbis and jewish doctrine Rebekah was 3 when married to Isaac. Child SA is a serious problem within madrassas across South Asia, and also in places like SEA, Middle East, etc., from what I've heard. Children who are abused sometimes end up victimizing other kids when they grow up, it's a very sad and vicious cycle of evil and hurt. It has convinced me to never put any children I might have in madrasas. Parents please be careful and ensure that if you do have someone over to teach your kids, make sure it's not done so in a closed room so that you or someone else can keep an eye at all times. And be open and supportive of your children if they admit something might have happened, you are supposed to be their protector! As someone who was molested as a child, I know personally just how hard it is to even share what happened to your parent (in my case I never managed to muster up the courage). It angers me how much of the Muslim community is more concerned about saving face than protecting the most vulnerable members of our society, are they really forgetting they'll have to answer Allah swt one day? You sound like a decent man. Perhaps you can address Hadith 65 verse 4 and get a debate going to have it removed from the Muslim religion. That children can be married off and even divorced before their first period is an abomination in this day and age. I'm grateful for you bringing this to everyone's attention. This is rampant in many faiths and even no faiths, but it seems many of these faiths don't want to speak up so as "not to look bad". I work in children's services and have worked with many SA victims, one that stuck out was a young Muslim boy who was accused of SA his younger sister. When we were in school I met a girl who moved from a Islamic school to our school who had been 'dating' the security guard of her previous school. It iss becoming a prolific issue and we need to as a Ummah address it and not hide it.
Look into facing abuse organisation plenty of imams exposed and somehow they just go to another mosque and be an imam there 😢. Some even abuse boys do keeping with them away from girls/women wont help. The problem is with the abuser not the abused. Please educate yourself on how child abuse works, you are a liability to your kids if you think polygyny solves this.
the problem is the community, the madrasa where I was taught quran I was never all alone with a teacher and if something like this was known they would get reprimanded for sure. There even was a big deal one time because another kid showed one kid an inappropiate video once, his big brother confronted him immediately.
In the community I grew up in, we only had one Islamic center for us to go to. Someone messed with a person I know. We didn't find out until over 10 years later when the victim decided to tell. The community leaders didn't want to do anything about it because there weren't enough witnesses and they didn't want the police to get involved. I was part of the board at the time as well as a sunday school teacher, and the other board members were trying to turn it around on me. They said we can't accuse people off of what one person says, what if someone accuses you? I took that as a threat, that they would accuse me of something. Years later, the child messer's son got arrested because he was working at a day care and was charged for diddling. Clearly the original messer was messing with his own kids as well. I moved away from that town and disconnected with that Islamic Center.
This is very sad and disgusting that this happens, and people who do such acts to kids deserve a special place in hell. However I have also heard of cases about SA happening in Hajj as well and I think this too needs to be addressed

Your comments about girls and about polygyny were in bad taste. The thing is that this specific example happened to little boys, and that it has nothing to do with the availability of marriage or polygyny. This is a disease in the heart, and people who act on this sickness have been abandoned by Allah. Even the venerated scholars of the past warned about this (the attraction to beardless youth and children in general), and marriage wasn't even among the top 3 solutions for the issue. The solutions were DON'T LOOK at beardless youth, FAST, complete fard AND NAFL salah, busy yourself with halal things like sport or increasing your knowledge. Also, this is a GLOBAL problem, and polygyny is socially accepted in many countries. Try to look at things outside of the Western lens.
Additionally, sham marriages are sham marriages. You had a video not long ago about Mohammed Hijab "endorsing" a type of sham marriage.. They have nothing to do with public opinion on polygyny. I know plenty of people personally and have seen/heard situations online whereby the wife is totally fine with polygyny and the husband cheats anyway. Monogamous people cheat, and polygamous people STILL CHEAT. Even among the Mormons, Amish and Sephardic Jews who practice polygamy, they STILL have this issue with grooming, and CSA.

Saying polygyny is the answer to illicit sexual relations doesn’t make sense to me. You would have to explain to me why polygyny capped at 4 is the most optimal as a solution specifically for the problem of zina. No one could say. Therefore, I don’t believe we should be making conjectures such that haram happens because polygyny is not that common. No. Haram happens due to weak faith and weak submission to God. I as a Pakistani myself, I would keep my kids away from the mosque or Islamic center if the "imam" was trained in a Pakistani madrassa because that's where most poor kids are sent and experience such abuse which they direct at other kids after taking leadership positions in same institutions as adults. Something similar happened in a Dublin mosque. There was a man teaching Quran and he sexually assaulted a little girl. Child SA is a serious problem within madrassas across South Asia, and also in places like SEA, Middle East, etc., from what I've heard. Children who are abused sometimes end up victimizing other kids when they grow up, it's a very sad and vicious cycle of evil and hurt. It has convinced me to never put any children I might have in madrasas. Parents please be careful and ensure that if you do have someone over to teach your kids, make sure it's not done so in a closed room so that you or someone else can keep an eye at all times. And be open and supportive of your children if they admit something might have happened, you are supposed to be their protector! As someone who was molested as a child, I know personally just how hard it is to even share what happened to your parent (in my case I never managed to muster up the courage). It angers me how much of the Muslim community is more concerned about saving face than protecting the most vulnerable members of our society, are they really forgetting they'll have to answer Allah swt one day? I work in children's services and have worked with many SA victims, one that stuck out was a young Muslim boy who was accused of SA his younger sister. When we were in school I met a girl who moved from a Islamic school to our school who had been 'dating' the security guard of her previous school. It iss becoming a prolific issue and we need to as a Ummah address it and not hide it.

the problem is the community, the madrasa where I was taught quran I was never all alone with a teacher and if something like this was known they would get reprimanded for sure. In the community I grew up in, we only had one Islamic center for us to go to. Someone messed with a person I know. We didn't find out until over 10 years later when the victim decided to tell. The community leaders didn't want to do anything about it because there weren't enough witnesses and they didn't want the police to get involved. I was part of the board at the time as well as a sunday school teacher, and the other board members were trying to turn it around on me. They said we can't accuse people off of what one person says, what if someone accuses you? I took that as a threat, that they would accuse me of something. Years later, the child messer's son got arrested because he was working at a day care and was charged for diddling. Clearly the original messer was messing with his own kids as well. I moved away from that town and disconnected with that Islamic Center.
This is very sad and disgusting that this happens, and people who do such acts to kids deserve a special place in hell. However I have also heard of cases about SA happening in Hajj as well and I think this too needs to be addressed
