      @@JoshSweetvale Good. It's not as much as I would like to happen to the industry as a whole, but it's definitely a step in the right direction and it's nice to see a state hitting them where it hurts.
      It's not much on my end, but I can't in good conscience bring myself to reinstall OW or buy OW2 after this. The least I can do for those poor women is owe them the respect to avoid supporting their harassers.

    Zero tolerance policy at the workplace rings about as well as the zero tolerance bully policy my old school had... In which case, you got bullied a ton and any time it was brought to light the victims would always get the short end of the stick. Sometimes even getting forced into the spotlight which would only increase the harassments.

    Small nit-pick, but an executive of a company should know the phrase is, "it goes WITHOUT saying," meaning the statement should be common knowledge and implied.       Duh, he is a head of a company facing legal action. Their legal team wouldn’t let something like that to be said. Admitting ANY kind of fault can hinder their ability to defend themselves in court. The court room is where all the facts will come out not over UA-cam and Twitter.       The big thing that needs to happen: ppl who've faced abuse should be able to come forward without repercussions or ignorance and for that to happen society needs to change cus society is usually always the culprit

      I'm really getting sick of seeing this.
      I work in HR. This blanket statement is not true. The purpose of HR is *NOT* to protect a company from its own employees. That's horse shit. The companies where that is happening - like Activision, Blizzard, Riot, Twitch, the list goes on ... - are high-profile corporations that don't know what the fuck they're doing outside of cranking out franchises and media events and don't see people as individuals.
      There are PLENTY of companies where the HR department actively advocates for their employees.
      Unfortunately, those companies are not the ones who are (deservedly) being sued and publicly shamed, usually because they're not huge in scale or household names.
      Don't lump every single HR department in America - and CERTAINLY not worldwide - into the same awful category.

      The thing is female characters are designed to look good instead of designed to look like what they do. Male characters are jacked as unholy fucc. Can even get away with wearing no armor except a single pauldron. Their costumes design is made to show how strong they are. 🤨 But here's the thing, a lotta female characters don't look strong in the same way. I think the Conan/Boris/Frazetta look is fine for some characters but the female characters look more like runway supermodels.

    I work at a relatively small electronics company (no more than 40 employees) and shit like this still happens even at this level. 2 team leaders and 2 employees all reported the manager together for (overtly) sexually harassing an employee and HR brushed it under the rug. They don’t even try to hide it either. I can’t imagine how bad it is with companies as big as blizzard…

    These stories truly anger me. I heart goes out to all employees who are subjected to this shit workplace culture in any company. To have your nudes spread around during a party, to think your only escape is suicide, to have Managers abuse their position etc. These abusers must face punishment if/when found guilty in court and be removed from employment, and that goes for higher-ups who are friends with these abusers, it's likely that they were aware and in on it.

      I would not be too pessimistic about it because it would be a false statement to say "they will always get away with it". If we could stop terrorist leaders then we should be able to get these trash arrested and sentenced to prison.
      This is happening because a lot of people, even ones outside of the company are ALLOWING it to happen by giving their money to them and not hard spamming hate mail against them or not sending their government reps to attack Activision Blizzard.

    Of course J Allen is going to give a lazy, unapologetic message in the midst of all this. He is an employee over there after all the fact he was also silent about the situation until people lashed out and just digged the hole deeper for himself by pretending to care.
    Anybody knows that a real apology does not come from words, it comes from actions. Talk is cheap.
    Everyone should STOP ALL PLANS for playing Diablo 4 or any other Activision Blizzard game.

    Let's not just gloss over another very serious aspect of this lawsuit, the discrepancy between how male and female employees were treated in terms of hiring, firing, pay, duties, projects, and promotions.     Obviously what's alleged to have gone on is horrendous and all these men need to be held to account, but re: 11:57 can people just stop conflating sex appeal in fictional characters with sexual harrassment of real people.
    As a rape survivor who's been working on regaining my sexuality back for the last few years this is belittling and detracts from the actual issue, which is that real women need real recourse.

      I agree 100%. Their response is still tone deaf imo and with full context it kinda makes it unsettling, but we really don't need to blur the line between "sexy female character" and "actual, genuine abuse real women went through." It would've been better if they answered it more seriously but the answer in and of itself isn't bad other than displaying what they actually think of women when you see all this evidence against them.
