Its simply a company that has gotten old, with people getting entrenched in their lead positions, professionals that might be competent in their corporate jobs but don't care much about game-creation and hiring second class developers to cut costs and simply the fact that the company is so big, it needs to cater to a much too large market, wich hinders creativity in their games design as not to put off anyone with certain features. (including catering to Chinese interests)

The stang things , I feel ever far back as 2007, they had issues and if anything these may date back before Activision had strong hand in matters and that only really started show , after warcraft movie did not go as well as planned in theaters. The intention was not to remaster it, to begin with, it was just to avoid a future DOTA-level success gamemode from slipping through their fingers by essentially claiming ownership of all user-created content. they just stopped the flow entirely and not only failed to make a decent remaster, but literally killed the previous version.

Because even awful projects can turn a profit, it's all about the how much you invest versus the how much you get back. Many games that are considered laughing stocks by the gaming community were successful at turning a profit anyway.

No game is safe, even X years after release. Lately I came back to Prototyoe 2 just to see that it's DLC with skins and modyfiers was absolutely gutted. And it's still sold on Steam with false description of it's content that is mostly gone. There is a legit fix for it that restores content but still. Makes piracy safer choice than buying games...

Sony on the other hand are slowly shifting their focus on the western market while at the same time alienating their eastern consumer base which in part made them what they are today. The worst part about this remaster is that it sets a precedent where now there is real reason to fear damage being done to the source games of all future remasters/remakes. The argument that "you can always go back to those old versions" rings even hollower now.
What really annoys me about Reforged the most is that, not only this game was so unbelievably bad made, it literally makes the original game UNPLAYABLE!! This game DESTROYED one of the best RTS games of all time!! Not even Anthem and Fallout 76 had done something this destructive……
Reforged is a fucking dumpster fire. I have a 5950x and a 3090, and yet the game lags heavily at the menu. After 5 seconds of lagging it kicks me off to the desktop like some alt tab macro
Yeah, this was the first time my own game was downgraded despite me not even buying the fucking new game. Thankfully I kept the original CDs, but many threw theirs away because they added it to Blizzard's launcher and presumed it would remain at their disposal forever.
Yeah and frankly why this is way worse than all those other disaster games because at least you can play the old beloved games while trying to forget the shit ones that were made. But here Blizzard in their infinite wisdom decided to remove any chance to play the old game just to force people to play this crappy remaster which is probably the most anti-consumer thing you can do alongside microtransactions and loot boxes.

All we needed of them was a mild, humble and faithful remaster, not this botched mess. Starcraft 1 got a respectful treatment and so did World of Warcraft Classic, on top of horrible working conditions.....what the hell is wrong with them.... At very least they should just roll it back to the last classic version 1.31.1 and leave RF as a free side client, atleast in some way alike WoW Classic and Retail coexist.

It started with the early development of D3 with the old blizzard north in which they shut it down because they were planning to make d3 a mmo like path of exile and they didn’t want it to compete with wow.
To this day they still have not updated the game, it looks like they abandoned it... Blizzard has turned into a real shit company lately, if it wasn't for the fact that they forced everyone who owned the original game to update to this piece of garbage then it wouldn't of been so bad, but Blizzard goes out of their way to ruin their older games too and prevent people from playing them.

Having worked with the Blizzard cinematics team quite a few years ago and learning so much from them that I will take with me through my whole career it is really hard to see what they have turned into.
Yeah, they didn't need to do anything other than optimize for newer hardwares and put more modern graphics while keeping the artstyle intact for people to start kneeling to them, but they couldn't even do that right. Also cutscenes, which they also couldn't be arsed it seems

As much as I was looking forward to the D2 Remake, there's no way I can morally support the leadership of this company. I feel terrible for the developers, but they need to move on. This place is a living nightmare and I don't see it getting better any time soon.
The D2 remake isn't being made by the original studio anyway man. Arstechnica has a war stories for Diablo 2 and to put it bluntly those people had PASSION for that game. We need to file a class action lawsuit against Blizzard/Activision for ruining a remake, but also for making access to the original game impossible, which is sort of illegal because it amounts to theft.
Key phrase is Blizzard disabled the original version of the game _on its digital platform._ Those of us who still have physical copies of the original game can play it just fine offline. Which is just another example of why purely digital media without offline backups is a recipe for disaster because you never know when someone's going to take it away.
As an "advocate" of physical games, I agree. Digital is fine and all, but if you're on Steam, EGS, PlayStation, XBox and they don't like you for whatever reason they could easily take your digital toys away. You can't do anything about it as it's part of the ToS (company reserves right to terminate service for reasons they see appropriate).

No game is safe, even X years after release. Lately I came back to Prototyoe 2 just to see that it's DLC with skins and modyfiers was absolutely gutted. And it's still sold on Steam with false description of it's content that is mostly gone. There is a legit fix for it that restores content but still. Makes piracy safer choice than buying games...

As far as Microsoft is concerned, they failed at first (keyword: AT FIRST) when they approached the Japanese market with games no one there wants to play.
Sony on the other hand are slowly shifting their focus on the western market while at the same time alienating their eastern consumer base which in part made them what they are today. These things are not exactly what most Asians appreciate mind you.

The worst part about this remaster is that it sets a precedent where now there is real reason to fear damage being done to the source games of all future remasters/remakes. The argument that "you can always go back to those old versions" rings even hollower now.
What really annoys me about Reforged the most is that, not only this game was so unbelievably bad made, it literally makes the original game UNPLAYABLE!! This game DESTROYED one of the best RTS games of all time!! Not even Anthem and Fallout 76 had done something this destructive……

"I just want to play these games" Another tired reasoning, there are other games from other studios that will fulfill that gaming itch, you just have to go out of your comfort zone and look at the market.

As much as I was looking forward to the D2 Remake, there's no way I can morally support the leadership of this company. I feel terrible for the developers, but they need to move on. This place is a living nightmare and I don't see it getting better any time soon.
The D2 remake isn't being made by the original studio anyway man. Arstechnica has a war stories for Diablo 2 and to put it bluntly those people had PASSION for that game. They went out with the explicit goal to make the most addictive looter RPG they could. This remake is just gonna be a piece of shit like everything else Blizzard makes now.

Which is just another example of why purely digital media without offline backups is a recipe for disaster because you never know when someone's going to take it away.
As an "advocate" of physical games, I agree. Digital is fine and all, but if you're on Steam, EGS, PlayStation, XBox and they don't like you for whatever reason they could easily take your digital toys away. You can't do anything about it as it's part of the ToS (company reserves right to terminate service for reasons they see appropriate).

Imagine an alternate reality where, instead of WoW, we got WarCraft IV while WCIII only got compatibility patches to make the game play on newer systems.

I never updated my WC3 and still have the old one. Too bad I won't be able to play it online ever again.

Hate saying it, but there are times where loyalty dies. This event is the final time I buy anything from Blizzard. Blizzard will no longer be a name in my house
yeah it literally took them censoring people for the CCP, Charging more for their product while delivering less, as well as destroying the entire horde side of the storyline for WoW, and lying to and then berating diablo fans for people to finally stop buying their products. And I still hear people saying they plan to pre-order diablo 4.
