That first act, as it closes out July, 2. Garnered cheers in theaters. Some thought it was because the White House is blown up.
However, being there, I believe it was because the act was so well executed and put the audience in the moment.
We also cheered when Randy Quaid sacrifices himself and blows up the first ship.

Because people love to pick this detail apart, I just wanted to mention, there is a deleted scene from this movie where they explain that all modern technology, including computers and computer chips, were created based off of the alien space ship from the 60's. While there's still a lot of "movie hacking" going on, they at least did try to account for this in the original storyline. I wish they had kept it over some of the scenes, but it was cut for time.
Glad you seemed to have fun with it.

Goldblum's line "Must Go faster! Must go faster!!!!" he said in both this film and the first Jurassic Park. FYI.. .Bill Pullman is a very good, often underated actor. While You Were Sleeping, The Virginian, and The Equalizer 2 are a few of his better films, along with this one. Robert Loggia (the general here) has graced many fine films in his lengthy career.

Only a very select few (about half a million Germans) will appreciate Pullman's speech moment as it was the inspiration for the android candidate for the presidency in the country "Qualityland" in the novel/audionovel "Qualityland" by Marc-Uwe Kling. It's a comedy/dystopia novel where everything is decided and provided to everybody through modern tech, delivery drones and in-ear personal devices. The Shop sends you what you want (because they know what you want), ones social and working class status, even the partners you date, are dictated by a social level status from 1 to 100, and our robot scrapper hero Peter Jobless (kids are named after their parent's profession at their moment of conception), who is level 10, is on a quest to return an unwanted item.
The presidential race in the background makes it necessary for John of Us, the android candidate (whose "likeness in appearance in the old movie, "Independence Day" was a deliberate design feature), to even recite the ID Pullman speech at a campaign dinner.
The book is very scary. And hilarious.

Well if it’s any consideration, I grew up in a military family (air force) where we were stationed in Germany where there was only one channel and the only commercial was a recruiting one that’s lyrics (yes I still remember since it was burned into my brain FOREVER) was, “Be, all that you can be. In the army reserves.”
Luckily my father got pirated copies of a lot of movies (because in Germany new movies were about 6 to 9months delayed in getting to us) from friends and family, so we got to see lots of them.

Russell shows up in his crop duster biplane with a missile strapped to it already intending to sacrifice himself by ramming the alien ship's primary weapon. However, the sight of the slow biplane keeping pace with the F-18s that were protecting it looked ridiculous, so it was changed. President Thomas J. Whitmore is the best president the USA ever got (or never got, whatever).
It’s just a fun alien invasion movie. Characters are enjoyable, the action is fast paced, no real downtime. The whole computer virus plot is silly, but it works for this movie.

Well, not centuries, but almost one century, depending how you count it. The first big, critically acclaimed, special effects laden, sci-fi film, Metropolis, the first Oscar-winning Best Picture, Wings, and the first movie with sound, The Jazz Singer, all came out in 1927. That's when I'd say motion pictures had come into their own. At the time of writing, we're only about five years from the centennial anniversary of a major new art form.

@ 25:10 If it's the legendary Roswell crash, that happened just after after the 4th of July 1947. There's a TV movie made in 1994 about the incident called "Roswell" with Martin Sheen, Kyle MacLachlan, Dwight Yoakum, you might find interesting; as well as several documentaries on that one. Although in Independence Day they kept referring to the alien crash in the '50s, back in '96 we thought they were referencing the '47 crash.
There was a very recent and historic Congressional hearing on the UFO topic, the first in 50 years, that you should check out. It's about an hour and half, and very interesting and very different approach to the topic. It was open, and they had a closed hearing right after. 🖖😎

@@AwesomeUSMovies It's a topic I've follow most of my life. It was very refreshing the committee pretty much echoed your thoughts (and mine) too! They are also looking into other nations, and our own gov, possibly attaining this huge tech advantage encountered by our military in the last 20 years or so (Russian, Chinese, etc)... BUT they weren't outright dismissing ET either, and announced the gov will not "stigmatize" those reporting sightings/encounters any longer to encourage more reporting.
By chance have you seen the UFO Disclosure Project, a May 2001 successful press conference at the National Press Club in DC (rather historic too)? It was put together by Dr. Steven Greer with MANY credible government, military & civilian witnesses in an effort to prompt Congress into having hearings with their witnesses. Of course Congress didn't bite... then! To make sure you find the right video its full title is "THE DISCLOSURE PROJECT UFO TRUTH MAY 9, 2001 NATIONAL PRESS CLUB CONFERENCE WASHINGTON DC" and is 1 hour 55 minutes. It's very worth it if you have an interest in the subject, and very worth it to hear all these witnesses stories. 👍

Seven hours from whatever time it is in California is still seven hours, from whatever time it is in New York. The time on the clock may be different but the time on the stopwatch/timer will still be the same. Does that make any sense?

I think your channel should be growing quickly. I hope it is. You are a reaction watcher’s dream. We all know that it’s not plausible for thousands of reaction channels to have never seen any movies let alone the huge movies the whole world knows. So we all just pretend the lie of “first time watching” isn’t what’s really going on because we have no other choice but to pretend.
But you sir….you are someone who really has never watched movies at all in your life because of your career circumstances previously. That’s impossible to find. Someone who sincerely has never seen any movies in their life?! Wow! You are a rare find and a gem!
I think we like watching reactions because it’s as close as you can get to seeing iconic stuff for the first time yourself. There’s only one first time so it’s fun to watch other’s first times.
Your reactions are wonderful. You immerse yourself into the plots and it’s fu to see. You also have a very infectious laugh and your enjoyment really shows through. Keep it up. Cant wait to see what you do next. Good luck with your channel!

      1. No we are not the only intelligent being in all of creations. That's just silly.

That just seems really stupid for an intelligent life form.
