Anyone that doesn't cry about this movie is heartless. I was always surprised Steven King wrote such an emotional story, but I am so grateful he did.
Rip Michael Clark Duncan, always enjoyed him whenever he was in a movie
Clarke* and he was a huge guy, 6 5
Also RIP
Michael Jeter
Harry Dean Stanton
Oh I didn't know he passed. He was young
@@AwesomeUSMovies Same with Michael Jeter, who was Edouard Delacroix, or Del for short. Jeter passed away in 2003.
@@AwesomeUSMovies This is a story Tom Hanks told at his funeral. ua-cam.com/video/Qa_1ty4YQbc/v-deo.html
Hey Awesome US Movies, I hope you know that you're making a very positive impact on a lot of peoples lives. Your genuine reaction make younger people like me who's father passed away feel like I am watching an awesome movie with a father figure. Please don't change anything about your personality - you are a gem. Keep that smile on!!!
What a nice comment. Best wishes to you.
Thank you so much, that means a lot. Sorry about your loss. Losing dads suck
Thats really nice man😀
@@AwesomeUSMovies Lost my dad last year to cancer. We worked together in biology laboratories and had a formal and distanced relationship. But when we watched movies together it was awesome because i could show him movies i love and i earned his respect because of my movie choises. Watching your reactions feels kinda similar. It is just a verry plesant experience that i lost and found again on this chanel. Thank you.
Edit: Sorry for spelling mistakes and greetings from switzerland.
Oh wow, what a lovely comment! So sorry about your dad though, wishing you everything good ❤
David Morse (Brutal) is a very underrated actor, imo. Yes, they used different camera angles and filming tricks to make him look huge.
I also feel that way about Barry Pepper.
@@mcfmcf4038 I didn't even recognize him from savings Pvt. Ryan. That speaks well for his skills m
OK, I thought so
David Morse is so sweet! He lives near where me, in Philadelphia and is just a regular dude.
Allegedly, if you mention "Battlefield Earth" to Barry Pepper, he immediately apologizes. He's not to blame for that mess!
@@SuburbanSavage He's always come across as a solid dude. Battlefield earth was completely on Travolta.
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan. A masterful performance in a heartbreakingly beautiful film
The movie they watch in the old folks home at the beginning is called "Top Hat," from 1935. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers had a longtime cinematic partnership, making nine films together. A song from that film called "Cheek to Cheek" became a jazz standard afterwards.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
@@AwesomeUSMovies You're welcome. Hopefully you can add some more classic "Golden Age" movies to your list (1927-69, or something close to that).
My mother, the Feminist, had a favorite quote she used often: "Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, just backwards and wearing high heels."
@@jean-paulaudette9246 😆 That's awesome!
11:54 So pleased to hear a reactor _not_ exclaim “They don’t have an inside toilet?” I was born in ‘65 and my first house in Sydney Australia had only an outdoor dunny. 💩
Na, it made sense to me
As a Louisiana born native (not a Cajun) I can say that Delacroix’s Cajun accent is the closest non-Cajun’s fake/put on accent I’ve heard in live action. Super close even though I can tell it’s not real. In animated form, it’s the firefly from Princess and the Frog.
thanks
Everybody forgets just how good Michael Jeter was as Del.
Both films (Shawshank Redemption & The Green Mile) clearly show what it's like when a great story is in the hands of a director who takes his time. Which gives the viewer time to identify with the characters, to like them or to hate them. Above all, it gives the viewer time to feel emotionally connected to the whole thing. Because only then follows one of the viewers to the end. I come from Germany. So the text comes from the Google translation.
Well said.
Both are also about miscarriage of justice, and it’s ramifications on people’s lives (and deaths).
My favorite story from this film is during Michael Clark Duncan's last conversation with Tom Hanks character he said normally actors when they not on-screen they have the day off. He said that Tom on his days off came to set and sat with him during his speech and gave an Oscar-worthy performance without the cameras being on him. He said that was the sign of not a true actor but a true human to just sit and be present and helped him deliver such an emotional performance.
love that
Fun facts: Michael Clarke Duncan (John Coffey) and David Morse (Brutal Howell) are only an inch different in height (6'5 and 6'4 respectively), so they had to film David Morse always slightly behind MCD to hide the difference.
The tallest Oscar nominee is James Cromwell (Warden) at 6'7, but the tallest Oscar winner is Tim Robbins (Andy from Shawshank) at 6'4.
Oh that is funny thanks
John Wayne was also 6'4"
Michael Clarke Duncan (RIP) was 6'4". In the novel, John Coffey was 6'8".
I've seen this movie a few times and, even though I knew how it ended, watching you watch it made me cry all over again. I love that you could convey every emotion that was evoked by this film. It's so AWESOME that you are so appreciative of the true masterpieces that can be found in films. ❤
same that movie was just soo good
One of my favorite novel by Stephen King. I remember when to book came out in 6 parts. I waited each month to read the full novel. I still have my little paperback and my hardcover. Great reaction to this amazing film.
Oh wow!
Fun fact: When I was in Afghanistan, I was going through a box of books I received and I found all 6 green mile books. I put them in numerical order, and as soon as I did the power went off on the FOB (base). Was pretty trippy honestly
I waited until I had all 6 before I read them. I just re read them recently and I think I prefer the movie. Odd.
Michael Clark Duncan indeed was nominated for an Academy Award. Michael Caine won, and during his speech he praised each of the other nominated actors' performances individually. I still remember him saying about Mr Duncan that he had never heard of him but he was astonishing. Great praise from a legend. He was so new and he was taken away too quickly. Mr. Duncan died in 2012. Here is a clip of the speech. ua-cam.com/video/CuhXv2wBeiQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Oscars
Class act
Micheal seemed like a sweetheart of a guy. I cannot believe such a sweet guy ended up with Amorosa. He deserved so much more
32:38 “We each owe a death; there are no exceptions.” Great line, great film, great reaction.
agreed
I love watching people reactions to the first supernatural scene. The film is so ordinary up till then. La-di-da nothing to see here then, bam! And people are thrown throug a loop. Lol
I guess
Indeed, never gets old. It's just so out of the blue after it's been so grounded & realistic up until then
"It's like pieces of glass in my head all the time." I know why this makes me break down every single time I watch this movie, not the biggest Steven King fan but that, it's a perfect line in explaining something.
Loved your reaction! Green Mile is such a work of art. Stephen King is great with horror but his non-horror stories are phenomenal.
The director, Frank Darabont directed 3 King movies. Shawshank, Green Mile and a horror movie called The Mist. I recommend checking The Mist out around Halloween time. Even if it doesn't make the cut for your channel, at least check it out in your free time some time
Will do, thanks
There's also Darabont's other "forgotten" movie, "The Majestic". It's worth a look.
Loved this Stephen King adaptation. Michael Clark Duncan did his best acting job of his career, & got nominated for an Oscar. The whole cast did a superb job.
the film containing the song 'I'm in heaven' with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dancing was called 'Top Hat' made in 1936
I gotta say, man. I've been watching your reactions for a long time now and you just seem like a really kind person. Even a movie as sad as this, it's still nice to have your reactions on while I'm working.
Thank you so much for watching. It's appreciated
I cried like a baby at the end. JC was an angel.
The number of movies Tom Hanks pees in is incredible
I've seen two so far... man... Now I want to make a new genre. Movies Tom Pees.
In a variety of polls, it probably would not surprise you that Percy is considered one of the most evil characters in all film. Love your reaction. This one always gets me.
oh I bet
Same Author and Director as Shawshank, Michael Claude Duncan was 6'5". They used forced perspective camera work to make him look taller.
Frank Darabont is one of the few screenwriters/directors who have been able to translate a Stephen King novel successfully to the screen. 2 others to check out from King/Darabont are The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist.
You found one of my favorite movies, and no matter how often I see it I cry.
I would too
Not sure I can watch this again....it's just too sad 😢.....❤
Another great movie with Tom Hanks is "BIG" 😊❤
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
@@AwesomeUSMovies 😊
Btw the old movie they are watching is "Top Hat" with Fred Astaire 😊
14:10 It's about now that viewers remember this is based on a Steven King novel...
lol
Michael Clarke Duncan passed away in 2012. He win the academy award for this role
Rip
This is another amazing film . The actor who played John Coffey was that big, and he did unfortunately pass away a few years ago. I cried like a baby at the end
I hear that
you are the only person to show one of my favorite lines, "A big man is tearing your ears off Percy, I'd do as he says!" Great movie, Frank Darabont+Stephen King=Gold. Green Mile is definitely not a short story.
Glad you enjoyed it!
As a fellow Iowan... I have to say you are a beautiful person... and I am happy to watch your reaction to this film.
I really love this movie... even though it makes me cry every single time. I swear i must like to torture myself watching others react to it... Love your reaction.
A Moonpie is a southern treat from Chattanooga, TN. It has two soft graham cracker cookies with marshmallow between them and coated in chocolate. Even though it sounds just like Smores, it tastes different. I grew up in TN and am very familiar with them. Apparently, it was a thing to eat one while drinking an RC cola, but I never tried it myself.
Extraordinary is a fitting word. One of the best films ever made. It’s so hard to watch, but it’s a movie that should be seen. It is horrible what we do to each other. I cry every single time. It is truly a masterpiece. Great reaction. 😊
So glad you enjoyed the reaction. I very much enjoyed it
The guy who "looked familiar" was James Cromwell, who is one of my favorite actors. He's one of those actors who, not unlike Tom Hanks, you know any movie he's in will be a good one. Fun fact: James Cromwell is actually taller than Michael Clarke-Duncan (John Coffey) in real life.
James is great.
That is a fun fact
Yeah, he is, lol
James Cromwell is great in the film "L.A. Confidential," which I highly recommend! Add it to your list!
Really?? MIchael Clark Duncan may not really be as tall as John Coffey, but at 6’5” he was taller than most.
*googles* And James Cromwell is 6’7”?!
I can't get through this movie without bawling like a baby
1. YOU WILL CRY
2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production so his part was done later. He also played Reverend Alden on "Little House on the Prairie".
3. Hammersmith was not a good lawyer. (most likely a racial thing. It was 1935.)
4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row.
5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.
6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist,
Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse:
The Langoliers.
7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream.
8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegan and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but
was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill.
9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch. BTW Kudos to Doug Hutchison for the great job of being Percy.👌
10. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are about the same height as Michael Clark Duncan (RIP). They used planks, a smaller bed and smaller chair along with trick photography to make John taller.
11 The scene where John takes Mr. Jingles for safe keeping before Del's execution they used a real mouse and it pooped on Paul's shoulder and he brushed it off.
12. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for.
13 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced
the GREATEST MOVIE EVER.
14. 4 words for you: Stephen King. You're WELCOME!
Great stuff thanks for watching.
That mouse was Wormtail. That's how it lived that long.
Funny
nobody can hold their tears with this movie
This movie is just magical. It has so many beautiful pieces to it - and even the brutal and cruel elements serve to highlight the more beautiful and soft parts, just like in life. It makes it all that much more touching. I cry every. Single. Darn. Time! Don’t worry about running out of masterpieces. There are more than enough.
The mouse wasn't dead yet, that's why he was able to fix him. "There might still be time..." The girls were already dead, which is why he couldn't save THEM. "It was too late..."
Nice reaction! Shawshank and Green Mile are two of my favorites of all time. Another movie that makes me feel like this is October Sky. Not a lot of people request it, but the ones that have reacted to it love it. It's on your list, hopefully one day you can check it out. C'mon Patreons :). Thanks and take care James.
Thanks appreciate that
Yes, October Sky is very good.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Love October Sky! It's about four teenagers who live in a West Virginia mining town in the '50s. The only way out of the mines is usually through an athletic scholarship. But after seeing Sputnik go into space, they decide to try to build rockets and get out of the town that way. Even more amazingly, it's inspired by a true story.
James Barry Pepper was in Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks. Pepper played their sniper
You're totally right.
As mentioned, a mouse lives about two years. A human lives about 80 years. If Mr. Jingles was 60 years old at the contemporary time when this movie takes place, that's 30 times longer than a typical mouse's lifespan. 30 times 80 is 2400 years...!
...Although Tom Hanks' character looks kinda grey and wrinkly already, I don't suppose he actually will be forced to live THAT long. Ugh!
Amazing movie, even though it is long, it totally doesn't feel like 3+ hours. Fabulous actors too. Sam Rockwell for example, you see him here, then in Iron Man 2 or Galaxy Quest, and consider that it's the same guy. Supremely versatile and skilled actor. (Also likes to dance on screen...)
I wish this film was a mandatory watch in schools across the United States. I remember my history and english teachers in middle school coming up with a genius idea of movie week the last week of each month, by doing this even the most disruptive and aloof students would show up and eventually improve their assistance and grades. This is where I initially watched Shawshank Redemption, Schindler's List, Glory, Philadelphia, The Patriot, Amistad, etc.
Thanks, I've added all these to my list. It's appreciated
Another genius masterpiece movie is "O Brother, Where Art Thou". Fantastic performances, interesting story, just another home run.
added
Nominated for 4 Oscars including Best Picture but lost to American Beauty.
Should not have lost
Fantastic
I've seen speculation about how much longer Paul would have. If the mouse lived twenty times it's expected life of three years (60 years) and Paul had 30 more years to live, then he may have had 600 more years to go.
James Cromwell, the warden, was in BABE, DEEP IMPACT, STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT
Just found your channel in the last few days going through your older reviews now especially the important movies I love seeing reviewed I could never do it as I was a movie kid nothing was off limits so I've seen them all but I love watching true honest reviews and I see that in yours so some random stranger love from Indiana man.
Welcome aboard!
Yup. Green Mile is over 3h long and scares a lot of reactors, but I think most people can agree: It doesn’t feel like a 3h movie! The script, storytelling and the supernatural twist keeps us glued to the screen.
went by fast
Michael Clarke Duncan (John Coffey) is 6'5", James Cromwell (the warden) is 6'7" tall. So yes, they photographed John Coffey to make him look like more of a giant than he was.
Funny tricks with the camera
To answer your question on what movie John is watching before his is executed. He is watching the movie called "TOP HAT".
Here is the synopsis of that movie...
The story centers on wealthy Dale Tremont (Ginger Rogers), on holiday in London and Venice. She assumes that American entertainer Jerry Travers (Fred Astaire) is the husband of her friend Madge (Helen Broderick) -- who's actually the wife of Jerry's business manager Horace Hardwick (Edward Everett Horton).
The song CHEEK TO CHEEK is a super memorable song even if you've never seen the film.
I think in a episode of I Love Lucy Ricky dances and sings it to Lucy.
I think it was a wedding anniversary episode.
Anyway I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy all of your reactions I have seen so far.
You are one of my favorite reactors..
I find you putting a smile to my face with your big beautiful tender compassionate heart and kind personality.
I love to see a man not be afraid to show emotion and this movie surely does pull it out of you and many of us who watched it..
I cried so hard when I first watched this film.
And I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Your family is so blessed to have you.
I don't personally know any man such as yourself who is tender hearted and just so sweet and down to earth yet so funny as well.
You have an infectious laugh. One that each time you laugh I too get so tickled so as much as I love the drama filled movies, I also would love to see you react to also more comedies because your laugh is something I hope to hear in each reaction.
You make a bad day suddenly better.
I can escape in your reactions and see movies I watched as a kid when it was brand new that you are just now discovering.
And to see you watch it for the first time takes me back to the tike I first watched it and how I felt.
And some movies I watched as a kid or teen I can go back and catch something new I didn't notice before
I'm a huge fan of movies, music and books
And there are so many wonderful movies I hope that makes it in your reaction channels.
Especially some of the movies based on true stories.
Have you seen JUST MERCY?
I'd gave to go over and check what else you've already seen.
Do you take requests HERE in your comment section?
I'm not sure what I'd your top favorite kind of movie. But I do infact have a large range of movies I like both new and old and wvwn old classic back in my Grandmother or mother's day that I love.
And I hope you will discover those too.
Now 80s and 90s movies and then 2000s movies hood a ton of my favorite films.
But I have an old soul and appreciate older movies.
Even some older films like Imatation of Life.
There is another movie not many people I know who have seen it that is called BACKSTREET. There is a 1950s version in black and white and a re-make colored version that cane out in the 1970s both versions was good and had some slight changes.
It Happen One night starring Clark Gable is a black and white film but it is very good. It's an opposites attract romance.
Clark Gable was amazing in this film. Though I will forever adore him in Gone With the Wind.
I'm obsessed with Gone with the Wind.
I collect figures and dolls and music box's for it. I even went to the Gone with the wind museum in Jonesboro Georgia and loved it.
And I also love older musicals like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Oklahoma and then Sound of Music and South Pacific which are my top 4 favorite older musicals that even my husband enjoyed watching with me. And he's 42 years old and is very picky about musicals and some older films in that genre.
I'm very picky about musicals as well and I prefer the older classics.
I love the acting more so both back then and into the 90s.
It has to be REALLY GOOD.
But I was highly impressed with the remake Steven Spielberg did for WEST SIDE STORY.
Though I love the original I did like alot of parts of the new remake even better.
And guess what.
I've heard rumors that they are making a remake of one of ny top favorite 80s movies which is Back to the Future starring Tom Hallon who played the newer Spider man.
I can't wait!
Speaking of Spider man.
I hope you will watch all the Spider man based on the release date.
There are 3 spider man movies Toby Maguire was in.
He was the first Spider Man which was my top favorite.
Then there was Andrew Garfield as Spider man.
And then Tom Holland.
Then there's one way yiu night consider watching those...
While Spidey isn’t mentioned in the first “Venom” film, he does appear in a post-credits scene in “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” which could be a possible teaser to the two comic book rivals/reluctant teammates’ futures and brings Venom into the MCU. And even though it doesn’t feature a live-action Wall Crawler, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is also included in this list because it’s not only an amazing film but brilliantly explores the multiverse that will come to have a major impact on the Spidey franchise.
So if you’re looking to watch the “Spider-Man” movies in order of release, here’s your lineup:
Spider-Man (2002) Toby Maguire
Spider-Man 2 (2004) Toby Maguire
Spider-Man 3 (2007) Toby Maguire
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) Andrew Garlfield
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) Andrew Garfield
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Tom Holland
Venom (2018)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Avengers: End Game (2019)
Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) Tom Holland
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) Tom Holland.
I love all kinds of movies not just musicals, drama, romance marvel but also westerns and sci fi and horror and comedy.
I wish we had a way to email you all of our top favorite movies that we think you would enjoy.
My husband and I also enjoy watching Outlander together.
I love the books and tv show.
It's kind of like each season of Outlander is based on each book in nynber sequence cause there are allt of books.
So each season is based on the next book that cane out.
However they may decide to mash some things up.
I can't wait till season 7 comes out.
It's got romance, action and adventure and breath taking views.
I think you would enjoy it.
The first 4 seasons was my favorite.
Another show hubby and I watch together is Yellowstone.
Now I saw the yellowstone prequel called 1883 and it was AMAZING!
And it stars Country music stars who are also husband and wife rim McGraw and Faith Hill and the amazing actor who I loved even as a kid Sam Elliot. I loved Sam in the 1987 western called The Quick and the Dead. And the 1985 film called mask based on a true story starring also the singwr Cher. I watched a real life interview of Rockys mother and she confirmed how alot of everything in that movie really did happen. It's an amazing story that also breaks your heart. It's a must see film
Sam Elliot was also great in the movie tombstone starring also big time actors Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp, Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday, Bill Paxfon as Morgan Earp and Sam Elliot ads Virgil Earp.
While in Jonsboro Georgia I also visited a house that Doc Holliday visited before he went out west.
Have you heard the true story of Wyatt Earp?
Other films come to mind Enemey mine, Fly
CLOUDS on Disney plus, Still Believe, I Can Only Imagine.
Facing the Giants. Blind Side, Overcome.
GLADIATOR, Braveheart, Patriot.
A Star is Born lady gaga and Bradley Cooper.
Shape of Water, Good Will Hunting
INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE, The old and new IT MOVIES
Flashdance was one of my mothers and mine favorite movies to watch together including Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride and Conspiracy Theory.
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is a great comedy for the holidays. And Christmas Story, White Christmas, it's A wonderful Life.
Almost Heros starring the late funny Chris Farley from Saturday Night Live is one of mine and my hubby's fav movies of his.
Money Pit also starring Tom Hanks has some comedy in it.
I also liked Tom Hanks in Apollo 13, Big, Splash, and his Mr Rogers movie.
I know what you did last summer 1 and 2.
Scream, Halloween, Pet Semetary the older version.
Children of the Corn, Poltergeist.
THE SHINING AND THE SEQUEL TO IT called DR SLEEP.
Village of the Damned. The one starring Kirsty Alley.
The Parent Trap both the old Haley Mills version and the newer Lindsey Lohan version.
Haley Mills movie Pollyanna is SO GOOD.
FOREVER YOUNG, STEEL MAGNOLIA, FRIED GREEEN TOMATOES
TITANIC, TROY, LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY, ALL THE STARS WARD TRILOGY INCLUDING MANDOLORIAN, AND OBI WAN KENOBI AND BOBO FETT ON DISNEY +.
50 FIRST Date's & Blended, Just Go With It, Happy Gilmore Adam Sandler movies
A little bit naughty teen movies my mama let me watch as a kid that still shocks me is Varsity Blues, and American Pie lol
I could keep on telling you some awesome film's but perhaps you might consider some of these in the future. Lol
I'm a huge movie buff.
My husband and I have collected 1000s of movies new and old for our home theater.
Thanks for that

I'm not sure what kind of movies you prefer.
Great reaction!! I stumbled across your channel a few weeks ago and have truly enjoyed every review I’ve seen so far. I love that you really get into the movies and aren’t afraid to show your honest, raw emotion every time! You’re doing a great job, keep being yourself and I’m blessed to be watching along with your journey! I don’t know if you take suggestions from the comments or not but, there’s three films I think you would enjoy… “Patch Adams” , “A Beautiful Mind” & “Steel Magnolias” Hope you have a blessed day, and continue touching hearts with each of your reviews! 💕
Thanks for watching it's appreciated. I'll add your suggestion to the list. Thanks
Just a few things to think about. The mouse still being alive is the equivalent of Paul living to be about 2000 years old. How long had John been walking the face of the Earth? He has seen the whole world and would have had to travel by horse and foot the whole time. John's initials being JC are not a coincidence.
Yeah I know. Thanks. I'll leave a regular life.
This is one of my all time favs makes me cry every time
"We all owe a death. There are no exceptions." I try to remind myself of this every day.
debt? or death?
@@AwesomeUSMovies Death, pal. We all, in the end, owe a death.
A-one cast on this one all around. Much like Apollo 13 it's a great ensemble

I wish Stephen King would make more books like this. Shawshank, Green Mile, and Stand by Me were amazing.
Agreed, love all three of those movies!
Such phenomenal acting, I absolutely love the actor playing Coffey. He was awesome in Armageddon too. So, so sad. I honestly don't know if I wish the electric chair upon anyone. Death, sure, but maybe not that way.
Thank you for being so sensitive to humanity.
I've watched your channel since Star Wars, "A New Hope". I love that your children encouraged you to enjoy movies. I'm sure you see how it transcends just watching the movie to getting to know you and the great postive impact it has had on your life. I have three masterpiece movies to add to your list, as already mention in the comments below is "Schindler's List" which tops the list in my opinion directed by Steven Speilberg and a true story. Next is "The Pianist" another true heartbreaking story and "Sling Blade" brillantly acted by Billy Bob Thorthon. I think he wrote and directed it as well. I've only seen one reaction. He was most worthy of an oscar for his performance. I enjoy your all your reactions but this one had the same impact on you as it did when I first saw it in the theatre; well, that certainly dates me. lol

What a brilliant reaction... We are lucky to see you witness these movies/masterpieces for the first time. Really enjoying your channel.
Thank you so much for watching
The Green Mile is an awesome movie! There was a time that telling a story and telling it good was important in movies. Another gut wrenching movie that tells a story. A horrific story, is Schindler’s List. Just tears at your soul to witness and know the truth behind it.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
«I’m sorry for what I am.» This line always makes me tear up. Michael Clarke Duncan (John Coffey) and Doug Hutchison (Percy) doing such great jobs in this movie. I really miss movies like this. 90ies movies have something special about them. «Dances With Wolves» is another one of these special movies you ask at the end of the video.
added
Another amazingly fabulous 1990s movie is "L.A. Confidential". Incidentally, this is also the (Hollywood) breakout roles for both Guy Pierce and Russell Crowe. :)
Can't help it, but this movie makes me cry every single time. Tears start to roll when "I'm in heaven" play in the retirement home, and multiple times more.
Such a great film. One of the most perfect films for me.
This was filmed at the old Riverbend Maximum Security Prison just outside of Nashville. In the late '80''s, as teens, me & my cousin got arrested smoking weed at the wave pool & we both got community service & had 2 tour this prison when it was still open. The inmates didn't really leave a big impression, but Old Sparky did! The real execution chamber was different. U had 2 walk outside of death-row & n2 a small 2-room brick building. In the 1st room was a concrete slab 4 the body & on the other side of the partition was the electric chair. It had been a while since they used it, but it smelled really weird. It had no air conditioning & was the middle of summer, & made me nauseous! I felt like I was in hell!😅 A friend of mine's dad was an extra in this. He played a guard. I watched it when it 1st came out, & NEVER need 2 c it again!
✌😎❤
great story
I saw a documentary about how they made the film. Many times, when you read the script for the first time, you read it as yourself and develop the character afterwards. But the cast was so strong that many did it in character from the beginning.
Love it
On the Topic on how much longer he have to life: Depends on how it works. If it adds x years (in the case of the Mouse say around 60) he can life to be around 150 to 160 years. If it is a multiplier then it would be x20 for the Mouse (normaly around 3 years at max) then he could life up to be around 1600 to 2000 years.
Always a heartfelt reaction with you. Here's to finding out how many masterpieces there are together! 🍺
You and me both!
This is actually based on a serial he did and it was later compiled into a single volume also a great film and great performances by the actors for another couple of dramas are powder and phenomenon are both great and underated
12:00 I had a UTI back at the start of the year, I tried ignoring it, then I tried home remedies, when I became unable to stand up without shaking and was vomiting every five minutes I went to the hospital. I was over halfway to my death. I've learned my lesson, these scenes have new meaning now.
Don't mess with UTIs
Atht the time, there were no antibiotics, as Hanks said in the movie, the Doctor would just have him taking sulphur tablets which he'd already tried.
Damn brotha, you went from no TV to diving right in and doin UA-cam media with edits and backdrops. Good for you man. I'm ready to do my own reaction vids but I've seen the good ones. Trying to figure out what my angle would be. Good luck to you. Loved the review
Thanks good luck.
24:09 Michael Clarke Duncan was “only” 6’ 5”, roughly the same height as David Morse (Brutal) and 2” _shorter_ than James Cromwell (Hal).
so not that big
Michael clarke duncan ( J.C ) was such an amazing actor he should have wonn the oscar foor best supporting thst year. This role took its toll on him, he said many days after a scene he would go sit by the river and cry. It truly got to him. its so sad as his career wouldd have been astronomical.
Stephen King who is the author of the green mile said he was everything he envisioned the charachter J,C to be like and the thing was M.C.Duncan was a gentle giant off screen too.
good stuff thanks
Good afternoon James, I hope you're having a lovely Sunday day. I just stopped by to mention that I thought of another great cult classic movie that revolves around books, I think you'd appreciate. It's called "The Pagemaster" (1994). It is half live action and half animation, and has some very famous actors in it I'm certain you'll recognize. And it's one of those feel good / heartwarming movies, which I know you'll enjoy.
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
The movie that upset him is called Top Hat with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. They did several wonderful films together
Schindler's List! It's a rough one but EVERYBODY needs to see it at least once!
Agreed
Thoight Michael Ckark Duncan got robbed of an Oscar for this movie.
One of the cast was in The Shawshank Redemption, another two were in Saving Private Ryan.
Yep I didn't notice. I suck at finding people just like Waldo
SUBBED. YOU sir did such an amazing job with the genuine reaction. I stumbled across your channel. Thank you for a great viewing and I've seen sooo many. I definitely could use some horror movies also. That's my favorite genre. Now it's time to catch up on your other reactions. Again thank you
Thanks for the sub
14:02 I was nervous at the start when you said you read this film was a drama/fantasy because I feared it may have spoilt the surprise. The fantasy element literally comes out of nowhere here and leaves everyone gobsmacked.
nope, had no clue
The actor who has the wife with brain cancer has a movie call "Babe" I recommend you that one. It's completely different to this one but you are going to love it.
I'll add it to my list thanks
Thank you for allowing us to watch along with you, again I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. You may not have seen his face but you have heard his voice. Michael Clarke Duncan was the rhinoceros prison guard in Kung Fu Panda 1. Top Hat (1935) Starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers is the movie that Jon was watching.
Thanks for the info
I watch many many reaction channels. Sort of an addiction of mine. I love experiencing movies with people for the first time. Makes me feel like I'm watching with a friend. I am also the type of person to think carefully about words and their meanings and not use them when a different word or sentiment is more accurate. Therefore, I hope you understand my sincerity when I say there is no other reactor among all the ones I watch that I wish I could actually be personal friends with than you. The fact that this is literally one of my top 3 favorite movies ever helps, since your take on it is so good.
WOW, thank you so much. I'm trying hard to make Awesome content for everyone. Thank you for your kind words. I hope you get a chance to check out some of my other content.
Saw this movie for the first time earlier this year, regret not watching it sooner. Great reactions!
This is one of those movies that shows what movie making is all about.
One of the few movies that are great but sad & extremely moving. I'll only watch them once but will always remember & recommend to those who haven't yet seen them yet.
LOVED it
Great reaction to an absolute masterpiece!!!!! Loved having this experience with you!!!
Thank you for watching
Been waiting for this. Thanks for consistent uploads. Much love !
Misery coming on Monday
@@AwesomeUSMovies keep up the grind !! We love you
This is one of the greatest movies ever made! The 90's and early 00's cranked out some of the best movies out there. At that time Spielberg and Hanks were the power duo of the industry with movies like this one, Saving Private Ryan, and the Band of Brothers miniseries. If you haven't already seen them, I highly recommend Schindler's List, Gladiator, and the Band of Brothers miniseries. They are all award winning films from the same era!
Some great content for sure
I agree, the 90’s had some of the most brilliant movies and music.
My two favorite lines in this movie are "I dreamed of you. I dreamed you were wandering in the dark, and so was I. We found each other. We found each other in the dark." and "You tell god the father it was a kindness you done"
mouse lives normally just 1 year; so far Mr Jingles has lived 64 lifetimes. Paul has lived just 1.5 (avg. Male life expectancy being 70-73 yrs.). If Mr. jingles expires after 64 lifetimes, Paul has at least 62.5 lifetimes left. That puts his total life expectancy at
around 4,375 yrs. Wow....
Yeah no thanks. I don't want that for anyone
Such a fantastic movie, very emotional. Really happy you get to experience it for the first time. Keep up the great work, there are plenty of other masterpieces for you to watch!
Love it thanks
I read everything King had put out by the time I graduated high school, and it was more than 40 books already, but always thought the films didn't live up to the books. The horror ones anyway, but Stand by me, the Shawshank redemption and the green mile were fantastic movies and it always amused me that someone might notice they were all based on King stories and then read his other books and feel like victims of a bait and switch😂😂
Bravo! I'm so glad you were touched by this movie. It's a masterpiece, in my opinion. It had several Oscar nominations, including for the late Michael Clarke Duncan (RIP) who was a very large man at 6'5" but not as tall in real life as they made him appear. In fact, the tallest guy in the movie was James Cromwell who played the prison warden with the sick wife. He is 6'7". Michael Clarke Duncan was recognized widely for his amazing portrayal of John Coffey. There are many very fine and well-known actors in this movie who continued to shine in other movies. You may have already seen some of them in other films. Sam Rockwell, (Billy the Kidd) for example.
Well deserved Oscar nominations
John Coffey is a Christ-like figure. His initials are JC, which is no coincidence. He was a total empath and he had the power to heal.
love it
35:00 Where to begin? 🤔 _Police Academy 4 - Citizens on Patrol, Jaws: The Revenge,_ the _Star Wars Holiday Special, …_
Added to my list, thanks for the suggestion.
@@AwesomeUSMovies Please don’t. I was joking. They are all horrible. 🤣
This movie was made from a Stephen King book, it is going to be weird. Gary Sinise will always be known as Lt. Dan. Michael Clark Duncan (john Coffey) was 6' 5" He passed away September 3, 2012 at the age of 54 of respiratory faillure.
RIP
