Legend has it that Robert Palmer made a cameo in this video. I’ve watched it over and over and I can’t spot him.
IF, big IF ( I know how hard it is.), you can stop focusing on those babylicious babes, I've heard that you might see him.
Cross your eyes, you may see him.
Took me a second...
😂
Robert who?
"She's so fine there's no telling where the money went". One of the best lines I've ever heard in a song.
There are heaps of good lyrics I this song, listen lots.
Or time. space
Nothing beats old school music videos, they were simply irresistible
Lyrics listen, I was in awe of those ladies when I was young. Sooo cool.
Now I'm old, I get something different out of the lyrics everytime.
And before I'm too old I want my daughters and I to frock up and do a rendition 😂👍
The eighties movies were great too.

One of the best music videos ever. You know back when MTV actually showed music videos.
My parents turned me away when I was young, to this video.. along with a Prince song that I can't remember right now
People used to wait new music videos by the favourite artists and bands in the 1980s and 1990s. Music videos on MTV made it possible to sell the same album for a longer time and it gave a good reason to release new singles from the album. Record sales were also far more bigger in the 1980s than today. Many artists were capable to sell over 10 million albums worldwide including rock bands.
yeah remember that time before MTV turned into a cringe-fest
I want my 1981 MTV! ☮️♥️🎤🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶
It was sooo good🎉❤😅
Back in the days when we had great music & great videos! RIP Robert.
@@ricktaylor3748 Robert “Palmer” is the musician-man, here, he died in 2003 - Paris, France.
I love Robert Plant, also!
@@KittyGrizGriz I thought Palmer was still alive. Thanks for the info.☹
@@ricktaylor3748 YW. I know, it’s 😞. Believe he had a heart attack at only age 54, so young.
@@KittyGrizGriz 😞 😥
It was a horrible loss. I followed him most of his career. “Palmer received a number of awards throughout his career, including two Grammy Awards for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance and an MTV Video Music Award. He was also nominated by the Brit Award for Best British Male Solo Artist. He died at age 54, following a heart attack.” I really dislike those who don’t know saying mean things when they are too young or uneducated musically to know what a loss he was. 💔
Definitively 80's wasn't just another decade... It was another world!
Miss them every day.
I love how Robert Palmer looks like the VP of sales in these videos but is still somehow transcendentally cool.
Half a dozen goddesses on each shoulder can do that for a man's image.
He's cool because they are so hot....
“She’s so fine; there’s no tellin’ where the money went”. A lyric of sublime perfection; the 80’s encapsulated in 10 word.
…and I’m still wondering where the money went…
@@jonathonspiers8397seriously what happened to it? 😮💨
I have extreme personal experience with that line.
Not bad. My favorite is "The Proof is Irrefutable."
Music will never be this great again.
Sure it will. It didn't disappear after you watched it. All you have to do is play it again.
You know, I go back and forth on this. I think there will always be very talented recording artists but I honestly think rock is dead. This is sadly supprted by the fact that far fewer teenage boys are picking up guitars. Its simply too much to ask the majority of kids now to dedicate that level of patience to learning a craft when they get instant gratification from the phone.
@neilefc877 The best part is, girls are and becoming rock legends as women! Check out Nandy Bushnell if you don't believe it.
I'd agree but with reservations.
Youre very right. Ive danced on high heels on his music so much in disco's at the time, that I now need a walker at 72 y.o. he is to be blamed 😅😅
During the 80's, a time of outrageous hair and make-up, Robert Palmer in his tailored suits was easily the best dressed entertainer in the business.
Taken from us age 54 like many heavy smokers by a massive heart attack.
Cigarettes are bad news .killed my dad at the same age . 😢
You wanna know who ELSE was A Cool Dressing White dude during HIS time, I,ll give you a hint ,He was on Miami Vice around the same year this tune came out in 1985 ,, Don Johnson. I,m black but he was one of my favorite actors and I tried to dress like him.
#2 finely dressed was Boz Scaggs. No one could do a leisure suit like the Boz.
Nothing looks nor sounds outdated. Simply irresistible and outstanding. Robert Palmer had a class and his work is classic.
Today this would be considered as cringey misogyny or sexist in the worst way
@@billhanna2148true
Well that's just too damn bad now. Isn't it?
Well not really, this is very campy. It’s just old fashioned and outdated in the style of song, dancing, really every way. This isn’t considered as misogynistic because no one is concerned about this song. I had to Google it for a random 80’s reference in a poorly received Fox adult animated cartoon. 20 more years and it will be forgotten.
@@bebeluv9272 When you try to be a troll and end up being an asshole.
All these beautiful ladies are probably grandmothers now. Just imagine knowing grandma is way cooler than you’ll ever be.
😂 seriously
Time is a cruel mistress, regardless of your misty-eyed prognostications. For example: they may look party-time in the above-playable clip but there ain't no Swiffer big enough to wipe away all the dust out o they snatches as they might exist (if they even lucky enough to) today.
😂😂🎉
Dam 😮
Shit.....that will screw with a few young ladies heads.....brilliant comment !!
What people of younger generations probably don't understand, we in the 80s had to wait for this to come on MTV after school. No such thing as binge watching.
This kids of today will never know! They come home and plug in! Probably no chores like we had, cleaning the toilet or washing dishes!
@@candicehopkins2344 exactly
It's very eerie to me how this video morphed into the unreality that is now. No more individual, natural looks, just superficial hollow clones, indistinguishable with their filler/botox plastic personas. It's like a chapter straight out of "Brave New World" or some other dystopian sci-fi horror.
@@CharGC123 I see your point exactly but nowadays the only ones that look like this are in hollywierd. All I see in my small town is obese women and young girls covered in tatoos with blu, green, pink etc hair. The 80's were a strange decade, but man oh man could Robert Palmer sing!
So true!
No fan at all of that decade of music, but very little that came after was any better.
But Robert Palmer really was very, very good.
However, I think that the best of Palmer was already behind him even at this time. He really did produce very few bad albums, but his later works were pretty so so and Riptide was the last of the good 'uns.
I'd have to say that my favourite albums are Secrets and Double Fun
One of the best music videos ever.

Sept 2003 he died at 54. And that breaks my soul
I find it despicable that there was no fanfare when Robert passed away. No re-mastered albums. No DVD or blu ray re-release of Video Addictions. This particular video was the peak of the I Didn't Mean To Turn You On and Addicted To Love trilogy of videos; and a real treasure of, dare I say it, classy eroticism in his videos. Remembering Robert Palmer born on January 19, 1949. He was an English singer and songwriter. He was known for his powerful, soulful voice and sartorial elegance, and his stylistic explorations, combining soul, funk, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, and blues. Over his four-decade career, Palmer is perhaps best known for the song "Addicted to Love" and its accompanying video, which came to "epitomise the glamour and excesses of the 1980s". - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Palmer
