Sorry about the lag on worldpainter (and on minecraft) this wasn't nearly as bad on my end and I couldn't bear to rerecord 45 minutes of footage. I hope it is still followable, let me know if you have any questions.

Hey yall, just wanted to be transparent and say that I do not believe this is working anymore. Between SRTM no longer functioning the same way and minecraft 1.18 completely changing generation, this tutorial is not accurate anymore. I am sure there is still a way to do it but I don't have the time to put into remaking this video. Very sorry yall.

as of 2024 for linux it's working they added a step in the import heightmap that adds the version with the latest terrain height probably windows too

thanks for this tutorial! i did this with a height map from a tectonic plate simulator and it turned out to be a really beautiful geographically correct minecraft map!
