Isn't it awful, I'm so glad this story was made public so people will know how they manipulated that little girl and tried to ruin her really in favor of their son! The lady in charge of that adoption clearly knew the girl was fine. No wonder she took her home, she deserves so much credit for seeing through the parents and finding her a forever home.

The first red flag is renaming a nine year old child. A name is part of a person’s identity, you don’t just throw it away at that age. The adoptive parents seemed to have an idea of what they wanted their child to be like, and when she didn’t exactly live up to it, they threw her away.

I’m only halfway through, but I’m absolutely shocked by this story! My husband and I adopted two older children at the same time, much like this couple. They were 8 & 9. We were also lied to by the orphanage about their history, health, and special needs. We were told they were healthy, well-adjusted siblings, but later found out not related at all. One of our children turned out to have a significant intellectual disability and my other child had deep trauma that caused behavioral struggles through the years. Even with all of that, we NEVER regretted our decision! Our adoption didn’t go the way we had pictured in our minds, but nothing in life is guaranteed. You could give birth to your child and still have problems you didn’t foresee. It was a challenging time, but more than ten years later, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. That’s what you sign on for with international, older child adoption. Our children are grown now and are the light of our lives. They’re our only kids and all we ever wanted. They have their struggles, but don’t we all? This young girl didn’t deserve that. She reminds me of my youngest. Even at the worst of times, I couldn’t imagine abandoning my child that way.

I’m not sure I would’ve made a completely different decision. I wouldn’t have returned her to Russia, but I certainly wouldn’t have her around my other child. I would have tried to find an institution she would not be able to come back to my house, until she was very obviously not a threat to the other child or herself. If you allow a child to be abused, that is abuse, regardless of who they’re being abused by.

Putting Caralee/Sabrina in curlers and outfits, as though the physical appearance of the girl was the thing of primary importance. Playing dress-up and hairdos, like she was a doll. Knew those adoptive parents had been coaching both those kids from the very start, trying to get their money back from the adoption agency as they return their rejected daughter to Russia, calling themselves “good Christians” all the while. So grateful that an _actual_ good person rescued Sabrina from that hospital, took her home and let her be herself. Really great episode.

Yeah, the real hero is actually the agency's owner who took her out of this situation and literally saved her! And the fact how they have tried to throw this lady under the bus is disgusting.

Does it make sense to judge this family when we don’t even know what they went through? Are you God that you know all things? Let the Lord judge them. Why we can’t rejoice at the fact that someone blessed her with a loving and safe home, without condemning someone, is beyond me. May God heal your heart just as He did for that girl 🙏🏽

The woman says: “when I dreamed of adopting a little girl, this was not my dream.” This is baffling to me. No child is born to feed a parent’s dream, they are their own person, not the means to your fantasy!
This couple was never ready for children, they did not want children, they wanted the means to feed their desire and NOT love a person unconditionally, which is what a parent is supposed to do. I am so sorry for what they put her through. No child deserves to feel unwanted or discardable.

Yes! Both of them really were gross. They took a traumatized child and traumatized her all over again. When you adopt a child that is your child, you can't just return a kid because it didn't go the way you thought it would.

“When I dreamed of adopting a little girl, this was not my dream.”
What a horrible statement but she’s 💯 telling on herself.
She wanted to adopt a dang Barbie doll, not an actual little girl. The adoptive momma was the one looking crazy with her 1983 hair, in 1998.
Did she not stop to think about how awful those psychiatric hospital stays were on Sabrina??Those places can be god awful. Especially for children. Sometimes you aren’t meant to be a parent. Period. I hope all that hairspray crystal used finally caught up with her.

And the saddest part is, Sabrina blamed herself for being abandoned at the psych hospital. She said her lies were what led her there; it was heartbreaking to hear. She was already struggling emotionally, and they basically kicked her when she was down. Sabrina has a lot more grace toward them than I would.

It's no sin to want to adopt a healthy normal child. This is extreme mental illness and probably would have been temporarily or long term hospitalization on a pediatric psych ward if she had stayed hear. And mental illness, especially in children and young people, is very difficult to work with. Harder than physical disability. You need to be knowledgable to handle it. Thats why people sometimes end up hospitalized , even children, especially with children it's even harder

@@deborahdean8867That is no justification to make false accusations about a child to get rid of her & "return" her like an object. What they did has nothing to do with what they wanted. You are strawmanning in an attemot to defend actions that cannot be justifued. An adoption is a commitment & adootive parents should never contribute to a child's suffering, lie, deceive, & cause the child more trauma. Obviously a child up for adoption at her age is going to have some trauma. There is no such thing as a perfectly mentally healthy person.
