Oh Julie! You crack me up! "No shame or guilt in abandoning a type of plate.... I dislike that plate greatly..." You are talking about FiestaWare, aren't you? I've accepted a commission of a sphere and the entire thing is done with Fiestaware. I've never used it before and what a struggle it's been! I love my customer and will go out of my way to please them, but oh boy! What a learning curve. I've been through several blades on my wet saw until I found the correct one. It's so slow on my ring saw, and I just couldn't make the investment in a new blade for it at this time. I've actually ruined a few of nippers until I found the correct one to use. It's been a ride. And a hoot. I'm not sure I will use Fiestaware again. Although, it looks amazing!!!! I love your videos and I frequently have them playing as I work. Thank you so much for what you do.
Thanks for the literal LOL moment! It wasn't Fiestaware in the video but easily could've been. Woah, I donated that plate back where I bought it from.😂 I feel your pain. Fiestaware is thick stuff. What nippers did you find work best? I've made a few mosaics with it and cringe at the thought of doing it again. But yes, such gorgeous stuff and I know your sphere will be STUNNING! Keep creating and I'm so thankful you're here!🔥
Hi Karen! Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you're enjoying the vidoes.😀 There's LOTS more mosaic fun to come! Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!
Hi Julie! Awesome video! My question is, how do you incorporate the flowers that have upward curves into a picture? How do you grout something like that? The white flower in this video is my interest.
Hi Judith! Thanks so much for watching and glad you enjoyed it. The flowers, like the white one in particular, will adhere to your base substrate in spots where your tesserae/mesh are flat, if that makes sense. Some of the petals will extend up or curve around depending on how you cut your tesserae. As for grouting, it will be tricky. You will be partially grouting your mosaic. I did a video previously on how to partially grout a mosaic. You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/LLClyuCYfNA/v-deo.html. Glad you're here!
Hi Phyllis! Welcome to my channel!! Great to hear you’re enjoying my videos. Let me know if there’s something you’d like me to cover in a future video. Keep creating and I’m so glad you’re here!🔥
Thank you so much for making this video! I have wanted to try this style of creating mosaics for a long time but have been intimidated to do the most important part - starting! Heading out to my shop to break some plates! Thank you for inspiring me to (finally) START!
Hi Margaret! Thank you for your kind words. Great to hear this video motivated you to break some plates and makes some flowers! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Thanks for this channel. Asking for a friend. What video following the grouting if she wants to seal the whole stepping stone. Not just the grout areas. Can you help? Thanks!
Hi there, just found you! I'm so excited. I couldn't find your list of tools. Could you leave them and where you purchased them in the comments...please? Thanks so much
Hi Melissa! Welcome to my channel! If you expand the description below the video, you'll find a list of everything I used in this video (tools, adhesive, etc.). Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!
Hi Daniela! Great to hear you enjoyed the video. Pique assiette flowers are so fun to make and anything goes. Keep creating and I’m so glad you’re here!🔥
Hi Julie. How do you add flowers to a flower pot? Want to make daisies and add them all around a flower pot. Help please. Also, any specific brand of adhesive/concrete you like to use?
Hi Karen! Awww, thanks for your kind words. Great to hear you enjoyed the video.😊 Pique assiette flowers are so fun to make. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Very informative and clear. I would add that it would be helpful for beginners, like me, if you would slow down the cutting process for few of the small pieces. I find them difficult to cut. thank you!
Hi Bonnie! It's great to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching! Pique assiette flowers are addicting. Anything goes! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Yes I have made many succulents with Apoxie Sculpt as my glue. I like your way too! Question, on the large rose that you made, did you pick up each piece and butter it and then place it down? Thinking that you must have because if you buttered the entire flower you would lose the pattern underneath. Am I correct?
Hi Terri! You're correct. I buttered the backs of each tessera so that I didn't lose my pattern. I bet your succulents are beautiful! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
Hi Kee Yan Ho! I don't have a book on mosaic, but there are lots of videos here on my channel to get you started. ua-cam.com/users/julieweilbacher. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!
hi Julie ! my question is...how do you treat the area under these 3D flowers , once you glue them down on your substrate ? do you fill the space under the curvy petals with thinset ? or do you tuck in more tesserae? or just throw a bunch of grout at it and pray for the best LOLOLOL......see ya !!!
Hi Mermaid Seahorse! YES! All of the above! Sometimes I fill in with thinset, sometimes smaller pieces of tesserae, and sometimes I just till with grout. All are acceptable....because it's your mosaic!😍 Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!
Hi Susannah! Great question…I use blue tape, also known as painter’s tape because it sticks to surfaces well yet I’m able to pull it off easily. It’s just personal preference. Glad you’re here!🙌
Hi Yvonne! Yes, sometimes I do need to grind pieces. I use one of these: amzn.to/3DsnUN9. Super helpful and inexpensive. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🙌
Hi Penny! All of the items I used in the video -- include the mesh -- are listed and linked below the video in the description. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🔥
Gizele, they're so much fun to make....and anything goes! Plus coming up with options for the center of the flowers might be even more exciting! Glad you're here!
Hello Julie. This is a fabulous tutorial, thank you. Would you consider a polite request from someone neurodivergent? Can you ask your videographer to fade out the music so as it's not playing when you're talking? It's real fight for a neurodivergent brain to focus on what you're saying. You're honestly _far_ more interesting than the music, and the overwhelm of trying to block out the music as I try to concentrate on what you're saying makes it virtually impossible. Music at transition points - intros, outros and timelapse - makes perfect sense, but not underscoring speech. You may have even spotted that many UA-camrs now even put "No Music" in the subject title of their videos as they get wise to the way that brains process information. Hope you're not offended by my request and can find your way to consider it for future videos. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Hi Vatican Cameos! Thank you for your kind words and comments. I'm not offended at all. I'm so glad and thankful for your feedback. Just this year I started editing my videos with NO MUSIC playing during the body of my video. Previously the music was turned way down, and now I just eliminated it altogether. Thank you for being here and keep creating!🔥
Hi Yvonne! YES, wearing gloves definitely protects your hands when cutting sharp pieces. It's not a bad idea! I like to feel the tesserae with my hands which is why I don't wear gloves. Personal preference! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥
I created a daisy pattern on a broken planter, which I repaired before mosaicing. It worked out so well, I sold it at an exhibition! 💕
Hi Julie, all those flowers are beautiful. Can't wait to see what you will do with them. Have a good day. Take care.
Hi Rose! Thanks so much! I'm dreaming up a project that's been on my mind for a while. Stay tuned. Good to hear from you!
You are the best mosaic artist to explain with love and thanks for the sheer of your valuables videos 🦋🦋🦋🦋🥀🥀🥀🌹🌹🌺🌺

Turn the red plate into a flower on a stick! 💕
Can we use a metal, copper mesh or fabric instead of polymer mesh?
I have the hardest time trying to shape pieces. I wish you would have said more about that.
Hi KMF! Shaping the pieces can be challenging. I'll put your video request on the list.🙌
@@JulieWeilbacher thanks
Is there a reason why you use blue masking tape instead of the more common tan masking tape? Is there a difference? Thanks.

Hi Chahra zed Chahra! Thank you! Keep creating!
What kind of glue are you mixing with the grout?
Hi Karen! For the adhesive, I mixed water with fortified thinset-mortar. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!

@@JulieWeilbacher thank you so much for replying. Your knowledge is outstanding
This was great, but searching all your videos..I still can’t find an answer on how to use thicker tiles with thinner tiles to make a level table top!
Hi Madaline! This video (ua-cam.com/video/5AGP-fMTPd8/v-deo.html) demonstrates how to do that. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🔥
