As someone building almost this exact build - thank you. tho I assumed 2 fans wouldn't be enough, but as long as you seem to be running it fine I guess 2 is good.
Hey Nick, love watching your builds! I built an audio production PC for my older brother in the A3 recently (inspired by your review!). Luckily I didn't have such a beefy GPU to work with, so I was able to fit 2 Noctua fans down below for intake and 3 up town for exhaust. Has been working like a dream without making any noise. Keep up the great work, my friend.
If you said nothing else, you would've still got a like for, "I'm not really into the RGB thing." Add in the number of tips & tricks, with visuals, as well as explaining the reason(s) for a certain order of operations in a given build, and I see a solid video. I reckon it doesn't hurt that I also want that case (with the wood front), and the same CPU and cooler. Plus, the XFX 7900 XT I want is "supposed" to fit under that same cooler. The PSU form factor solves a few issues I've seen in other A3 builds, and the low profile memory sticks... understated, yet all business. Perfect.👍
Just found ur channel and is amazing, nowadays there is the trend of doing unboxing and installing everything by force which makes you very angry when you see it, but you do everything with such calm kindness that makes the video much more pleasant and with impeccable quality, keep it up!
Interesting take on the fans. I run 3 exhausts on top, 3 intakes on the bottom shooting right at the GPU and one exhaust fan. Box cooled 5600x & 2080 super. No issues so far
Just a big thank you for this video, you inspired me a lot and I ended up building 2 identical setups (except for that monster MB and GPU 😅). A black case for me and a white for my son. Thanks.
Really enjoyed the explanation of the steps while you were doing the build. Looking into switching to this case and found it super helpful. Thanks for the quality videos
Chose the Fractal North Mesh because of the side intake fan mounts. Now, I don't think I'll ever look at cases without them. This A3 is awesome for offering the option in smaller form factor.
As someone who has a vertical gpu mount and a dual tower cooler installed, every time I have to do something, I have to remove the cooler first, then the gpu, otherwise I wont be able to plug the riser in. Sadly in 4 years, I only learned to check if I forgot the riser or not, and not actually remembering to plug it in when I need to
Put my 5700x3d and sapphire 7700xt build in one after watching the original review, with the glass front panel and lcd 240mm cooler. Absolutely love the case and a breeze to build in
This is beautiful. Making a list of all the parts. Love the lack of RGB. I never change my RGB or anything, just runs on default mode. I would much prefer a clean black look. Maybe a screen or something to monitor CPU temp, would be all I want?
Hello mate! As much as I liked this build, I really felt for this 4090 in there. Also, I have to say, I am fan of huge cases and big AIOs with some kind of lighting happening inside LOL. Enjoy your new toy!

thank you so much for your testing and insights! it encouraged me to make a similar build. but with the gigabyte 4080 super and corsair rm850x as well as thermalright phantom assassin 120 SE. ive got 2 lian li p28 120mm fans as well and will use it as you show. however, the side intake fan touches both CPU fan and the PSU chassis. i mean, it closes without force but its in permanent touch of those two. dunno if that can be a problem? also ive got a spare corsair 120mm slim fan without any other use than in this build. i understand your take on the thermals here, but i guess the one place where it would not do harm (likewise not too much good maybe) is bottom right of the GPU, just below the side fan, right? or would you say just dont change a bit and stick to 2 fans in a setup like this? edit: it was all fine with 3 fans.
This or the NCASE M2? Money is no object for the case. I just need a portable M-ATX build I can put in a bag. I am sort of a nomad so portability is a must. It will house a Powercolor 7900 GRE (29 cm) and a 7800x3d. Air cooled, no AIO. Thanks for the great videos!

The Noctua is a Monster. Had a similar Problem with my Asus M-ATX MB in an Asus AP201 Case. The MB lacks the Case USB-C Header and the Placing of the 1.0 PCIE Slot of the MB is not optimal. I needed a very small USB-C Adaptercard and it was a very tight Fit. The other Slot on the Bottom of the MB was useless because the GPU blocked it. ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS
have you tried flipping the rear exhaust fan to an intake(as well as the cpu cooler)? seems like it would be pretty a pretty decent solution, but then the exhaust becomes a bit weird, i guess you would still want a mid/low rpm/cps fan exhausting where youre now using an intake fan. this would probably work well with a gpu that would primarily exhaust through the side as well.
Have you measured with a negative pressure setup with back intake and changing the CPU cooler direction? It's what I'm doing with my Torrent Nano. The idea is that the positive pressure inside the case wouldn't fight the GPU from taking in the air. I also got a magnetic dust filter at the back intake. (My 180mm front fan is an exhaust without a filter)
I am planning to go down the opposite direction: Light-weight GPU (Inno3D 4070 OC Stealth), heavy-weight CPU (7950X), ultra light-weight case (my S393, ie. S300 modified for liquid cooling, which is currently at 10.17L, final version is going to be about 10.3L), ultra-thin rad (Silverstone Vida 240). Combine it all, and you get a portably system at less than 6 kg all in. cu, w0lf.
Hey Nick, long time viewer but haven't watched your recent videos until today. I got jumpscared by the abrupt ending lol, did you stop doing b-roll and making your own music? Or was this just a different style of video?
i understand your concept about top fans but i think that only one fan at the top as exaust exactly over the noctua should be fine. it does not stole fresh air from noctua single fan but only take warm air from noctua radiator. my opinion 🙂
I see lot's of people spam fans on the bottom for intake but I think current GPU's can take care of themselves with their build in fans? You're lke the first one i've seen doing this in the A3
More fans doesn't always equal better performance. Most people who "Build PCs" have only been building for maybe 5 years and don't understand that less is usually more when it comes to cooling.
@@GearSeekers I almost returned my Matx motherboard because it has the PCIE one slot lower, but I think having the GPU as close to the bottom as possible as actually a good think when u only have intake on the sides here ^^

I love the build, but man, having everything so slim and tight means you have to take everything out to change out just one component. I think for my PC I'll stick to a large case so I can tinker more easily.
Do you reckon I could get away with just having the rear exhaust fan and no intake? If I understood your graphs correctly, seems like the intake fan only improved temps by one to two degreees. Great video!

I always think that it's kinda weird how Nick makes beautiful builds with RGB then doesn't even like RGB for his own builds. But whatever, it's what he likes.
I am rather interested in this two case fan setup. I plan to go 7700/9700X(eco mode) route, so lower TDP on CPU with chunky cooler on top (probably Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO) and RTX 3070. I wonder if put one fan on the side and one on the rear whether that would be enough for the airflow of this case?

@@GearSeekers I will of course, and love the build no RGB here too. And the best part about air cooling is no worries about it breaking down for you and less maintenance then at least full loop water cooling. Not sure it's that much of a work to take care of an AIO ;)
I have so many questions but I'll try to be concise in the hopes you might reply. Q1: Do you think the future 9800X3D will be properly cooled by the d15? Q2: If you placed the edge psu on the side - with cables plugged in - and its backed forced against the side wall - would the GPU sit far enough out or would it run right into the cabling/even the slim part of the psu itself. Thank you! I really want to air cool a 9800x3d and a 5090 in this thing - but might need to aio or watercool and I am just trying to come up with a plan. Thanks!!!!
Hello Gear Seeker Great video. I have a question I'm going for a XTX power color white and 7800X3D with a 240 AIO do you think it would get to hot for this case since I heard XTX can get very hot. I'm upgrading from a 2060 super and a Ryzen 5 3600.
Im going to do a similar build, but using the 4080 and possibly an ITX board. Do you see any issue with mounting the PSU on the side rather in front? I was thinking about adding slim fans on the bottom, but it looks like it's not needed. I only really play Apex at 1440p, nothing crazy.
Hello. The dimensnion of the 4090 Strix is 357mm x 149.3mm x 70.1mm, vs the 4080 Super Aorus Master which is 357mm x 163mm x 75mm. Will the 4080 Super Aorus Master fit the Lian Li Dan A3 based on your clearance from the 4090 Strix width wise and height wise? Thank you.
A shams that Gene board got discontinued. I don't know if they shipped many units to my country, but it got sold out almost immediately and I couldn't get one :(
The reason you have low temps is because your ambient temps are low. A typical room would be at around 25*C, you're at 18*C. With that scenario you'd be at least 7*C higher on all temps at the minimum.
@@sam-bj2hp I think the CPU would definitely have better temps if you used a 360 AIO. A 280 would work too. You'd have to figure out if push or pull (negative or positive air pressure) would work better for that case though.

Not crazy at all. We'll have to wait and see what the performance is like. Make sure you stay tuned ;)
@@GearSeekers I will of course, and love the build no RGB here too. And the best part about air cooling is no worries about it breaking down for you and less maintenance then at least full loop water cooling. Not sure it's that much of a work to take care of an AIO ;)
Are you running undervolting on your 4090? my 3090 is basically suffocating down there lol
what about 1 exhaust fan on top back instead of 3?
Where was the cinematic? T T
Thanks!!!!
What is your thoughts on back intake and side out
Would it be a good idea to swap the 120mm side fan to a 140mm fan?
Hello Gear Seeker Great video. I have a question I'm going for a XTX power color white and 7800X3D with a 240 AIO do you think it would get to hot for this case since I heard XTX can get very hot. I'm upgrading from a 2060 super and a Ryzen 5 3600.
I bought the same PSU and still had to order a 90 degree 12VHPWR cable extension, VERY ANNOYING
Im going to do a similar build, but using the 4080 and possibly an ITX board. Do you see any issue with mounting the PSU on the side rather in front? I was thinking about adding slim fans on the bottom, but it looks like it's not needed. I only really play Apex at 1440p, nothing crazy.
With this config, how many 120mm fans can you place at the top?
Let’s go
Right in time for Black Ops 6!
;)
Thank you.
This is one of the tightest desktop
Awesome case, does anybody know it it's already available in Europe?
Not using the offset mounting bracket? Will it collide with the GPU if using such bracket?
Hi, is there any clearance between the gpu and the bottom panel ?
Not enough for 25mm thick fans but slim fans should be fine. I would advise against it. More fans doesn't always equal better performance.
Thanks mate. I thought there was little or no clearance. At least I know it can accommodate the ROg Strix GPU with enough clearance for ventilation
A shams that Gene board got discontinued. I don't know if they shipped many units to my country, but it got sold out almost immediately and I couldn't get one :(
Thats kinda why I wanted to use it too. It was sitting on the shelf collecting dust and it deserves a nice home
Same here. I am getting sick of RGB PC. I need an ITX PC with absolutely no RGB.
The reason you have low temps is because your ambient temps are low. A typical room would be at around 25*C, you're at 18*C. With that scenario you'd be at least 7*C higher on all temps at the minimum.
would u reckon atop mounted 360 AIO & 2x 140mm side mounted fans would have better temps?
@@sam-bj2hp I think the CPU would definitely have better temps if you used a 360 AIO. A 280 would work too. You'd have to figure out if push or pull (negative or positive air pressure) would work better for that case though.
@@pkpnyt4711 I heard it really does not matter in the A3, sadly tho u can't top mount a 280 rad
