Nothing more exciting than catching walleye just after ice off and put the smaller ones in the frying pan and returning the big ones to spawn.

Thanks for the tip on leaving a bit of a tag end on the Palomar to help hold the half-crawler. Great idea. Also thanks for the explanation why the tail end of the crawler is better.
i live up here in canada aye for walleye we put back 16 to 22 inch and we have lots of great fishing i dont know if that would help but it works good here i really like your attitude nice vid are kids will have good fishing if we look after what the good lord has given us
EH
I myself is from Minot and have spent a lot of time on Sakakawea
If you plan to fish Sakakawea, check out Indian Hills or the new motel in Garrison. We didn't stay at Dakota Waters and in no way endorse them but we used the boat ramp at their location and that is why there is a shot at the end of the video. Sakakawea has been a lot of fun the past few years.
Waiting to hear about bottom bouncing techniques.
tasty fish, love to catch em
Release bail lock to slowly lower bouncer to bottom. No more line than is necessary to maintain bottom contact. Use heavier bouncer to keep it as close to back of boat as possible. Increase hits by 300 percent
Jason, you should do a video of shore fishing the tail race in Garrison, can't find squat on how to fish it.
+zs k Thanks for the great idea
drove by this lake every day for two months , never realized the size of this reservoir
nice catch
That's the best freshwater eating fish there is soclean tasting thanks for the view James KCMO
Very nice job on the video . Love watching them and always learning things from you.
Thank You. "Fish-On"
Jump to 9:29 to see how to rig your bottom bouncer for walleyes. Nice fish and interesting how slow they troll for walleye.
nice !
be nice to be able to hear what is being said
were do they go during summer.
Do you ever use a two hook harness set-up with beads? Also, how do you troll with a minnow in small freshwater lakes such as in Montana or North Dakota? We always use the two hook harness, but I'm looking to try something new this spring.
+Timberlee We do use Crawler Harnesses with two hooks and use a whole crawler or soft plastic tail a lot typically a little later in the summer when the water warms up or when we feel the need to fish faster to cover more water. We often fish minnows much more slowly and often use just a plain rig and let the minnow do the work where as we fish crawlers much faster. Good luck!
Perfect! That's exactly what I was wondering! Thank you so much!
What lure do you use
Hi Jason, try the new ROBOHANDLE on your landing net. Now you can fish all by yourself. You have the total control. Thanks.

If you have always wanted to visit Montana and specifically southwest Montana the perfect fishing opportunity exists. Our resort is the perfect place to stay if you plan on coming out and fishing without a fishing guide or outfitter, or you can work with our full service fishing outfitter for some of the best fishing in the lower 48.
We offer simple packages of just overnight, several days stays, with or without full breakfast/box lunches/full dinner or perhaps all inclusive fish guiding if you wish.
Rock Creek has trophy trout, Flint Creek is excellent fishing both located less than 5 minutes away. Boulder Creek actually cuts through the resort.

Hard to think those eroded banks are beautiful, but I guess they do look like the badlands.....
What is your favorite lure for trolling for pike/muskie in summer? Thanks
pike eat anything including ducklings an mice ,just put a dead smelt on golden.
Do you feed line when yo feel a bite. If so, how do you rig te bouncer to allow line travel?
Later in the year, I often have better luck dragging the fish until the rod loads up versus feeding. If you do need to feed line, use a Northland Tackle Slick Stick and run the line through to a swivel just like a live bait rig.
Learn how to target Walleye seasonally. They are one of the pickiest fish when it comes to temperature and structure. The reason you aren't catching them is because you are not in the right spot for that time of year. If you are watching people catch them just 20 yards away it is because they are fishing at a different depth even if the structure is similar. It could be just 5 feet but that is enough for Walleye.
tplamon stop being rude like you could do any better
I have a picture with u at the Minnesota ice fishing event
Yes the one thing North Dakota is good for besides oil and farming
I did a Google search on Dakota Waters as a result of this video - was thinking of going up there. Jason you may want to consider who you put on your show
Seems to owners have been kicked off the property by the Army Corp Eng.
Ed Frawley not nice
Trolling is good when heading to the hot spots but there's too many hot women on paddle boards at my lake I can't pay attention to my rod !!! 😄
Great video. I enjoy seeing the fish be released. For a laugh, check out a video I have of a Northern Pike. It's a knee slapper! Enjoyed the walleye tips.
I think you could learn from the Lindners on how to describe your technique Very vague When I watch a Lindner video I feel confident that I can go out on the water and do what they do. And I do I catch so many more fish since watching those guys and using their techniques Not trying to slam you you make a good video Thanks
Hey Jason, what do you mean by keeping your bottom bouncer at a 45 degree angle ??
+Jack Anderson the angle of the line from the rod tip to the water.
What kind of line do you run with this setup?
big hunter Ten pound braid for the main line and ten pound monofilment on the snell.
what length do you have between bouncer and crawler?
We like the shorter snells when rigging this way, typically twenty four to thirty inches.
I fish from the bank and Im new at walleye fishing so any tips I can get will be gratefully apreasheated
Here is a video we filmed last spring where we were using waders to catch walleye.
ua-cam.com/video/ZZL5l8gt49c/v-deo.html
Man if I were him anything 20-24 inches would be a good eating size
+William Earhart III I think 18 an 19 down to 15 min legal size in Michigan are your best eaters cook more evenly.
So what makes a difference with a longer spinner line? I'm using a 1' spinner line, not very long is it. You guys use 3 to 6feet line from the bouncer to the spinner.
You want it short enough to stay out of the debris but often the fish seem to prefer the longer snell. Three to six feet is about average for us but we will go longer if there is a lot of mud clouding up the presentation or if the fish are real finicky. We often go to really short shells on rivers or in heavier weeds.
+Jason Mitchell Outdoors Cool thanks, I'm picking some up today. Stay blessed.
+Jason Mitchell Outdoors I'm also using 2oz bouncer, in shallow water, what difference will I see with less weight? Thanks!
How long of a leader do you use?
About thirty inches with the half crawler/ slow death rigs
Where do you think walleyes are in the spring when the temperature is 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
We focus on rivers and bottleneck area with current and also look at the water temperature which is relative. Look for shallow protected bays with the warmest water. Every fishery and every ecosystem is different so there are very few things that work across the board everywhere.
Thanks
Jason Mitchell Outdoors Man Id love to collaborate on some fishing videos with you guys! Im in the northwoods shooting for a month before I head back to Cali and hit the ocean. Great videos. I went out and caught a 20 in walleye after watching this.
Can’t bottle walkers be used in the weeds
Bottom bouncers work great for running outside weed edges.
Like to see how the line rig was set up.....everyone ignores this and shows pulling in fish.......
+Rod Rice watch around the 9:30 mark, we explain the set up in more detail.
How fast were you pulling those?
Cole Tousignant About 1.2 to 1.6 miles per hour.
+Jason Mitchell Outdoors I think he meant how often were u catching fish
2 minutes in and still haven't seen a rig so I clicking off
Michael Towler stop being rude
You commented though
Actually, it wasn't until 9 1/2 minutes in that they started talking about bottom bouncers and the set up they were using. After 1 1/2 minutes of super basic information, they went back to their commercial.
God damn do I get pissed watching everybody but me catch walleye after walleye. I try all the techniques and I put the time into it, I caught 1 walleye this year and it was like 6 inches. I still like watching people catch stuff but I just wish that for once I could do the same
Ok you only show baby eyes cought. You show a real nice one on title intro.
Wall eyes are not related to pike or pickerel I did not know that until today
+kevin batting pickerel are walleye
+brayden sprague pickerel are actually miniature pike i believe. look up Chain pickerel on google.
+kevin batting ya' walleye are in the perch family
well where im from pickeral are walleye
+brayden sprague pickerel are related to pike walleyes aren't people just get their names messed up
that blur effect is annoying
Too many commercials
you are a good fisherman! check out my channel! i have some great fishing videos too
Too much advertising
Arnold Berg be nice like you have as many supporters
Are you afraid to show the people that you are putting walleye in the box? Why don't you show the fish going into the box? What's the water temp? Be nice to know that for the speed you are traveling.
+suzy mcalister I seldom keep many fish when we are on the road but eat plenty when we are fishing closer to home. I seldom like to freeze fish so I just keep a few for a meal. The water temp was in the low to mid 60s.
YOUR TAKING THEM ALL THE WAY OUT OF THE WATER, HANDLING THEM FISH WITH DRY HANDS && THEN TURNING THEM LOOSE. YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR DRY HANDS CAUSE INFECTION IN THE SCALES OF THE FISH EVENTUALLY DIE FROM THE INFECTION?? 0UT HERE IN THE PNW it is not legal to take fish out of the water with wet hands or a wet rag to hold em with for returning them.
+Tinkersmentality YOU DONT KNOW YOUR RULES ARE MEANT TO PROTECT ENDANGERED TROUT AND THAT FISH LIKE WALLEYE AND BASS ARE MUCH MORE HARDIER FOR CATCH AND RELEASE??
