Hi Max, glad you like the stage colors I made! Some aren't 1:1 the same as in the pack you downloaded (I think they excluded some, e.g. I changed Sean's stage to be at night-time) but I think most is there. I agree with what you said - artistically the OG is better / more consistent, but after 20ish years it's a nice change of pace to see something new. I originally just wanted to make Elena's and Ibuki's stages, but then figured I might as well do the rest as well. BTW, if you start the game and get an error message, but the game starts if you hit OK: Inside the game there's an option to disable all error messages, so you won't have to click it away in the future. The error fightcade displays basically just says "hey, the graphic files are different than what we expected them to be"
OMG! Thanks for the support! 🤯🤯 The version that Max was using here was one of the first that I released, there is currently a newer version with small changes and improvements. Also, in Max's videos the PalMOD looks a little brighter than it actually is.
I can literally watch Max play 3rd all day everyday. I'm chilling in the hospital right now, and these vids are serving as some great entertainment while I'm here.
one thing i've never worked out is why Capcom never released a version with all of the stages from the previous iterations in it, seems so odd to waste all that work
@@mlshiza5335 I'm interested to see if there is any implementation in SF6 to use it as a hub for the 2d games to compete with fightcade. fightcade Kinda proves there is an audience for it
It'd be a boon, because 3rd Strike has the weakest stages of the 3 series Colours are very dark and it muddies the stages up Also New Gens stages are SNK level godly and it sucks that they're stuck in that game
You can change the audio in the emulated arcade version through the machine config menu where you change difficulty and stuff. You change from Jamma to External and it sounds way better. Fightcade should make External sound the default
Tried getting a pallette swap mod working with FC1 back in the day. I failed, I'm sure I could get it going much easier these days. This has inspired me to do so. Thanks for another installment in the best let's play series on YT
That violet ken pallet is actually goated 🔥🔥. As a ken main since sf2t I need that same pallet in sf6! The grey effect on the super matched perfectly , made it even sicker 💯
Street Fighter 3rd Strike is still one of my favorite characters, they had so many interesting characters that weren't just the ones we've been seeing.
Sean, Remy, Q, Necro and Twelve the only characters from the III franchise to never return in the modern Street Fighter games I guess they stuck in the vault of never returning characters but Sean has a big chance in returning.
It's great knowing there are people out there (like myself) that still enjoy saturated colors in a modern, de-saturated industry✨ Mod is gorgeous. Tho I wonder why some things were changed? Artistic license, or glitches?
It is for sale on consoles tho? Online edition on PS3 is the best version, can be run on the RPCS3 emulator for PC too. The other console version for modern ones would be street fighter 30th anniversary collection. By far the best modern way to play is Fightcade 2 on PC, as you get access to this game and many other retro games
Definitely looks a lot less 'washed out' than the original version (which still looked amazing BTW). My guess is they went on the lighter side for the pixel palettes due to the displays they had at the time? But with modern displays some of the character models and stages look kind of bland (Ibuki's stage is a a good example).
Hi, I made the stage colors; at our locals we're actually running them on arcade cabinets, and yea, they end up being a lot darker than I'd like them to be. So I guess on modern displays the game just ends up looking a lot more "washed out" than it usually would.
Instead nobody outside the fgc in the states even heard of sf3 , let alone that there was 3 completely different versions of it that existed until they seen that diago v Justin clip on UA-cam . Or at least for me and my friends it was like that . We didn’t know a single person who ever talked about playing sf3 , and if they did we would have prolly called them a liar or some shit 🤣😂 capcom dropped the ball with this one on release for sure
We need a Street Fighter III animated movie we have had a Street Fighter II, Alpha and IV animated movie we don't have one for V not counting 6 yet cause it's new.
18:13 Akuma is good because he doesn't have EX attacks, it lets him store meter for raging demon or KKZ. Not to mention he doesn't really need them, his DP has invincibility regardless when most other characters would need to spend meter for that
Honestly think I like the mods colors more. . . its funny to think that you can make Third Strike look better with just a different coat of paint. And making Third Strike look better sounds impossible, given how good it looks by default lol
I just bought the 30th edition on switch, with every street fighter made before 4. I forgot how much different each old version was, and I'm having so much fun going back and re-learning the old quirks of each game. Capcom always did us right with street fighter...
Well i mean that's just 2nd Impact and New Gen lol. Both were very vibrant and had lush colors, it was just Third Strike that looked washed out and dull.
And this is why I still have my slim PS3 hooked up right next to my PS5. For Street Fighter III: Third Strike HD Online edition. Game still looks phenomenal to this day.
I think the mod makes the game feel a little closer to something like KoF XIII (though obviously not as high resolution). Definitely neat, though. However, I feel like it changed a lot of Ibuki's sprites with the after-images. Weren't they much more prominent in the original game? Like, they were still there, but much more subdued or something. Am I crazy?
I feel like this is what 3rd strike sprites would look like for a 16 bit system. Kind of like how SF2 Special Champion has those high contrast skin tones since it cant display as many colors as the arcade version. I have mixed feelings about it
Thanks! Yea, I think so too; I primarily made the stage palmods for Elena's and Ibuki's stages, and then made the rest of the stages as well just because
Took me a good year to be decent at this game. Kept playing it for almost 10 years with breaks and there are still things I am unable to consider consistent. Those were the times where to be good at SF you really had to be good, and work for it. To be honest, almost every 2D SF had its own twisted requirements. .. since SFII/T
Wow, 3rd already looked good for it's time.. Likely one of the best sprited games at the time. But these update.. BEAUTIFUL. I had to double take the thumbnail.
I wish the fighting game community would embrace the system direction/dipswitch systems. It's like having fun and fucking around is illegal in the FGC. More games need it, even making it like optional modifiers in online matches. Not ranked and shit, I mean like a separate mode FOR FUCKING FUN!!!
I'm glad the Street Fighter III series is appreciated now for the longest it's been the most hated installment of the Street Fighter franchise which is understandable of why fans disliked it at first but it grew in time to be respected.
Yeah a lot of fans hated Street Fighter III and it was a flop the lowest sold game in the franchise at the time mostly due to almost no returning characters from Street Fighter II or Alpha but Capcom learned from their mistakes and took a L and now to include some Street Fighter II characters in every Street Fighter game.
@@michaelwaynetucker I'm talking strictly 3rd strike, which from what I've seen outside of the reparing it had to do from the first two games was received well by all who played it. Just because it had less exposure initially doesn't make it hated by any means

You guys did a great job with this mod, beautiful stuff
Great job hoods!
This is awesome 😆
If Max thinks a visual change changes the game, wait till he tries 4rd Strike...
I’m surprised he hasn’t yet. Would be curious on his thoughts.
Knowledge is gonna be dropped!
The capcom vs snk mugen where they took the snk spites and tweaked the shaders on them to make them look like capcom style sprites is pretty cool too.

The amount of Makoto love in the chat during the last Third Strike stream warmed my heart, here's to seeing best girl in SF6 hopefully.

I wish necro would come back someday, too bad he's just too goofy and out there for sf6's more realistic style.
@@callanharvey6264 I’d argue you can make the weirder characters work, I mean Blanka does
Sean makes cameos, but I think 11 is close enough for 12.
I think Twelve is supposed to be like Eleven from SFV
I wholeheartedly believe 3rd STrike has the best Ken/Ryu kick and leg animations, and hit/knockdown animations of the older gen of games like this.
