    I prefer to put the syrup in the bottom of my glass. Pour the sparkling water over top to half the glass and give it a gentle swirl. Then fill up the rest. I can mix whatever flavor I want without the bottle fizzing over.

    I have a soda stream we don’t use the flavors or we just add some juice if we want it. Also it seems the ninja is by the glass . So if your sitting down for a meal with four people and you want to refill your glass you need to go to the machine. With soda stream you can fill as many bottles as you want put them in the fridge and just pour from the bottle, we put a non carbonated bottle of water in the fridge before carbonating as co2 works better when the water is cold.. Unless I’m missing something I don’t like having to go to the machine every time I want a drink pus I have to have a cold container of water standing with ice and the ice will melt before I may want another drink.

      Q
      You're forgetting convenience
      If you just want plain soda water, then you can do it when you feel like it. Just enough. Instead of opening up a large 2 liter once. Refrigerate it. Loosing it's fizz if you don't drink it quickly.
      So overall it saves gas, time, money and its fresh when you get it.

    I have not tried the Thirsti. But I did see a different video where the "blue" CO2 bottles for the older Sodastream models (which are still commonly available) use the same threading (they screw in) as the Ninja Thirsti and they seem to be compatible. As far as the cost goes, you can dramatically reduce your cost of carbonation per serving for either carbonated water maker if you either recharge your 60L cylinders from a large CO2 tank (you can do this MANY, MANY times per 20lb bottle of CO2) or you hook up a hose and adapter to run from the large CO2 tank directly to Sodastream/Thirsti (but then you have a large cylinder sitting around near your Sodastream/Thirsti which is not "pretty"). You can get adapter kits online for either approach. But the syrups cost what they cost unless you can wait for them to go on sale.

    I’m glad for this esp the pricing information. I was contemplating a soda machine just to replace the Walmart and Lidl sparking flavored waters. But lidl is .59 per 33 ounces so I think we’ll stay w the lidl as this sounds way more expensive. This video was real helpful and I appreciate it.

    Just buy a soda siphon for like 30 bucks. You make your stuff in the bottle so no machine required. The only issue with using a soda siphon is you have to use single use 8 gram c02 cartridges. They can't be refilled once they're spent they're spent. But it works really well and was the original way soda fountains did it back in the early 1900s through the 50s.

    The Sodastream takes up less space on the counter. You make a quart at a time. It is way more simple to operate. You can put it anywhere as it doesn't need a cord. I purchased extra bottles and keep cold water in the fridge ready to go. I don't have to push a lot of buttons to make sure I'm getting what I want. As you can see, I much prefer the Sodastream, although I'm sure the Ninja is a great machine. I have other Ninja kitchen machines. You get the soda flavors of Pepsi, Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, Orange Crush with the Sodastream, in addition to all the fruit flavors.

    Just a tip. For the sodastream, you have to wait until you hear the "hiss" before letting go of the carbonation button. Once you do that, let it rest for 2-3 seconds and press again until you hear the hiss. I do this 5-6 times and get the perfect carbonation every time.

      There are a few liquor machines out there but this is one of 3 I know of and least expensive and affordable…. Also only 2 you can use your own choice of brand liquor, 1 other also can use your own and the other has pods that have liquor in already with bitters mixed in but pods are expensive and hard to find, bartesian has a long list of drinks and other cool items like hard drink recipe book, glassware etc and you can set up subscription on month or up to every 5-6 month delivery and cheap prices.

    I do see why people compare them like this, but as a German they're almost like two different gadgets to me. Obviously you can buy syrups here for the SodaStream too, but most people I know just have one to make carbonated water so they don't have to cart around crates of water.
    We just drink a lot of carbonated water here in general, so to me the SodaStream is more a water maker then a soda maker.
    Now, when I think of the Ninja Thirsti I consider that one more of a soda or lemonade maker, because it requires way more steps (like cooled down water and wait time) to just get one glass of carbonated water.

    Although I like the idea of the Ninja, I remain a Sodastream loyalist for two reasons. First, I don't want to have to fill the reservoir with ice every time I want to make a drink (ice water carbonates better), and second, I don't actually use Sodastream syrups. I like using syrups from other companies like Monin, Torani, and others. Can't do that with Ninja.

      @@charleselbert5610 Well, since I don't have it, I don't know it's the better machine. And I haven't seen anything that lets me use other syrups except the idea of emptying Thirsti pods and refilling them with other stuff...too much hassle, and then there's the whole needing to add ice every time I want to use it thing, which would really annoy me. If you like it, that's great. When they add a compressor to keep the water cold, then I'll reconsider.

      @wesotl1026 just keep it in the fridge why add ice ?

    • @wesotl1026
      @wesotl1026 2 місяці тому

      @@juniormm6388 The colder the water when carbonated, the better the carbonation absorbs into the water, so you always want to use very cold water when you carbonate. This also means you'll spend less money on CO canisters because you're carbonating better/more efficiently. Since the Thirsti has a 48 oz reservoir, that means I either have to 1) store the entire reservoir in the fridge and reattach it every time I want to make a glass of soda, 2) refill it with cold water every time I'm ready to use it, or 3) add ice to get it cold every time I'm ready to use it. With the Soda Stream, I just carbonate the whole bottle of already cold water and either flavor the whole bottle or use it to make individual drinks, if I want. Just a lot less fuss and fewer steps. If you have a big family and will use the entire Thirsti reservoir of water in one shot, then that probably works fine, but for one person who doesn't drink a ton of soda, the Soda Stream just works better for me.

    • @jjbud3124
      @jjbud3124 4 місяці тому

      Simple. Some of the Sodastreams are electric, some are manual. I like the fact that the manual ones can be placed anywhere you like without needing an electrical outlet. I also like the fact that I can use a quart (approximately), put it in the refrigerator and take as much or as little as I want at a time. Want only a sip? Take it from the bottle. You can't take just a sip from a 6-ounce serving, you'll waste the rest. I use a small amount to take my pills and the 6 ounce would be a waste. Sometimes I only want a few sips. Warning: Both machines are too tall to place under the upper cabinets in your kitchen unless you have an extra large space between upper and lower cabinets or you have a kitchen island with an outlet. This can be an important reason to buy a manual machine. Nothing against the Ninja. I'm sure it is right for some people. It all depends on personal preferences and available space and how you use the machine. It also depends on whether you just want fruity drinks (Ninja) or sodas like Pepsi or Root Beer in addition to fruity drinks (Sodastream). The Ninja may come up with soda flavors or not.
