    Also, for the creator of the video there was a pretty neat trick with the soda stream syrups that I learned about if you pour in the syrup at an angle into the bottle, it might work with a cup, though. It depends on how much liquid you have in the cup, it will not create that overflowing fizz effect, allowing you to save your carbonation a bit more

    I don't know if you've tried it yet, but yes the blue SodaStream threaded bottles work in the Ninja Thirsti, i have both machines. Plus the SodaStream refill is cheaper then the Ninja, so I'm just going to continue to use that for my thirsti machine, and keep my SodaStream as a backup.

    The colored flashing lights look like a simple color sensor, so it could be detecting the bottle's type by sensing the cap color as you figured out.

  • @freebird1982
    @freebird1982 9 місяців тому +1

    I there is a difference in the Ninja Thirsti dispensing amounts depending on the flavor cap colors, you might weigh the finished dispensed glasses of water using the different caps and see if there is a difference.

      It uses more flavor for the white ones though it's just a" 2" it's more of a 2 1/2 because of the lack of sugar the splash ones have

  • @BlueDroneBlues
    @BlueDroneBlues 2 місяці тому +1

    That soda test was pretty dumb. It's not like the SodaStream even has an option of it being able to mix flavors on its own together in the 1st place. Just common sense we all knew you would just add the correct amount after the soda is made to the syrup like you do with the SodaStream. If all I was doing was making Pepsi and pressed for time, I'd probably just get the SodaStream.
    I don't mind the wait and figuring out concentrations that are non-soda based and just flavor concentrate is going to make opening up those little containers more worth it. I just ordered the Ninja Thirsty because all the options seemed pretty good between the concentrations and if I just want Soda I can do that as an option.
    Have you tried just running Apple juice through it and making that bubbly? Wondered if you can do that without doing damage longterm to the machine?
    Thanks for the vid!

    If the 6 oz tastes like it's almost there, you could just run the 6 oz with the syrup, leave the glass on and run another 6 oz with syrup (instead of switching them out). Then just keep a squeeze bottle (like the Mio bottles or something similar that you squeeze into your drink) with the Pepsi syrup and do a quick squirt or two just to get that last bit of extra syrup (since you said might just be a little bit weak). Of course you could just use the squirt bottle or measuring spoon for all of it, but you have to run the machine to get the carbonation anyway, so why not just get it as close as possible to begin with, then just add a tiny bit more.

    Try Skinny Mix Syrups.

  • @andysprague4131
    @andysprague4131 8 місяців тому +5

    I wonder if the "bubbly" syrup for the sodastream (where they recommend 3/4 tsp of bubbly syrup per bottle of carbonated water) might be closer to the concentration of the Ninja Thirsti syrups and hence they would make more sense to fill empty Thirsti flavor cartridges with. I use my Sodastream regularly and am very used to its quirks, but the convenience of the Thirsti's more automated "push button" approach is attractive.

    Have you considered trying the sodastream buble in the containers? It's much more concentrated, perhaps too much. I know you have used it before because I saw you holding a bottle of it in another video.

  • @andysprague4131
    @andysprague4131 8 місяців тому +1

    With the Thirsti, does it compensate for the drop in pressure in the CO2 cylinders as they get close to empty? With the Sodastream's more manual carbonation method you can just give it a longer press (or more presses) of the button. I do like that the Sodastream allows you to make some batches "super carbonated" if that is what you are looking for, where the Thirsti only has 3 settings. But there is something to be said for automation.

      @@JustADadwere you able to check that? I have the one touch SodaStream and that's one of my biggest issues with it. Even doing like 2 or 3 times the normal amount (I usually do the lowest one and can 2 2 or 3 of the highest ones) doesn't carbonate as well.

  • @johns4407

    Nice videos on this Thirsti machine the comparison vs the SodaStream and this one for the tricks. Coke and Pepsi are the most protected formulas out there. So Ninja would have to do a licensing deal with one of them and boost the concentration in those little pods. But like the Keurig Cold Machine it would be too expensive. Keurig Cold looks like died. I think a Chinese company, probably the company that makes these pods for Ninja or someone that wants to copy them should make fresh new refill empty pods, kinda like the refillable inkjet market stuff for printers. Then at least for the fruity style flavors syrups you can just pour in, and have so many more choices into the machine and hope to get a decent flavour and mix experiment a lot more choices.

    I think most of us already knew that using the little containers and filling them up with concentrated Pepsi Syrup was going to be a failure. Just going to have to pour out the right amount and add it into the cut of soda water just like you did before. No big deal either way.

    Has anyone ever thought to if you want to use the soda stream syrup, create carbonated water first with the thirsti and then put the syrup in the cup after I think that would solve the problem because if I remember correctly, you can just run straight water through the carbonation system without any of the flavors which means you don’t have to screw around with the cartridges, you can just run regular carbonated water and then put in soda stream syrup At least I think that would work.
