I lost my husband 15 months ago very suddenly and unexpectedly. We had been together for a total of 22 years. I had been with him since I was only 18 years old, and he left me a widow at 40. I never in a million years could have imagined my life without him. We were supposed to grow old together and I feel so robbed. Our marriage was far from perfect, but we loved each other unconditionally and went through so much together. Even though I have been dating an incredible man for the past 7 months, who I am falling deeper and deeper in love with, I still (and will always) love and miss my husband with all of my heart. Whenever I hear this song, I immediately think of him, and I break down into a lake of tears. What I wouldn't give just to be able to hold him and hug him just one last time. I miss him so, so much.

I was 10 years old and supposed to be asleep on the living room floor of my uncle's apartment in Poughkeepsie NY but he and my mom were weeping together so loudly that I couldn't sleep. Thankfully we had one more Christmas with him before he died. This was his favorite song and it was played at his funeral.

I was in elementary school when this song came out, it was so scary and chaotic at home, this song was so encouraging, I hoped someone loved me out there, so I drew the main character, the mouse, and it was hung on the school hallway wall, a proud moment for me ...
Serving the Lord in the orient for over 30 years, this song makes me think of my home town, and all those I miss. America is far away, but the memories are still there, out there , somewhere.
What happened to humankind? We are capable of producing beautiful things like this song, why we always try to find ways to destroy ourselves? Just listen to the type of music our children are listening today and the way people behave today.
Carlos Lopez i totally agree with you! Money and fame are the reasons I guess. If I could have picked a date I should have been born, I would have asked to be born in the 60's so that I have been able to experience the 70's hippie lifestyle. I was born in 1985, a little too late.
+Maria Edelyn Gunda agree with you... i also want to born in the 70's or before, i was born on 1992.. too late to enjoy a happy time with people that have no care about fame, and so on and so on.. :(
What happened to mankind? Mainly, the wealthy began funding so-called "conservative media in the 90s to stoke mainly the "wronged White Male" to the point where it blame and judgment takea over for being gratedul for your blessings and its only getting worse and people have normalized it. Now acting superior is admired, all the way from the White House down.
So sad to think Linda Ronstadt suffers from progressive supranuclear palsy and has lost her singing voice while James Ingram has died due to brain cancer in 2019, but somewhere out there they still sing together this song. We will sing with them for always. That's their beautiful legacy.

36 years ago, I gave up a daughter for adoption. The day they took her, I heard this song, and made it mine for her. How many years have gone by and I've seen her in pictures that her adopted mother sent me. But she moved to another state and I haven't seen or heard from her since. It breaks my heart because she is estranged from us and I don't know why. But I'll never give up. I still love her with all my heart

This song and movie were one of my fondest childhood memories. As a father separated from his daughter since she was 1, this song is so poignant, brings me to tears every night I think about my baby girl.
this song makes me thing also about my dad, he said when I was 8 " be right back " and the last time I saw him... makes me thing if he still out there...
Whenever I hear a song this beautiful and with as much meaning... It brings me back to a time when my parents were still here and everything was going to be fine, regardless of how bad it actually was. Sometimes, hearing "it's going to be ok" is all you need.
30 years ago tonight, I met a man I fell deeply in love with at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pa. He lived in TX. And was a pilot. He was at the Gap for helicopter training. We saw each other off and on for the next 4 days and a beautiful dinner in Hershey, Pa. We said goodbye on the 15th never to see or hear from one another again. This song came on my car radio as I drove him back to his barracks. Idk what ever happened to him. But this is our song. I know I met my soulmate the first time I kissed him. I pray somehow I find him again just to be able to hold him one last time. To all you who have lost someone. God bless you!!
so sorry you never got to see him again, just makes me sad to read your post, but i'll be okay & yes I've lost a couple of loves myself, right now I am trying to work on one to a lady friend who i have known since we were in the 3rd grade so I've known her for 35 years, but she is recently got divorced so I'm giving her time, but is there any advice you can give me , maybe if not it's okay, but pray for me

My mom used to play this for me and my brother when my dad was on exercises or deployed. Now that she has been gone 3 years I hear it and think of her and how she has to be still there somewhere watching over me and sending me love.

I would cry and then I really couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t watch that scene anymore, without crying. It was one of my first memories as a young child, watching the tv that was sitting in the floor right in front of me.
Getting married soon and planning on recording this song for my mom and I to dance to bc when I was 10 years old my mom went to Brazil to adopt me and this song came on as she was in the plain flying from the USA to Brazil to meet me. So this song has more meaning to me in having a mother who wanted me than to see it sing as a love song to a couple. So in my case is a song that my mom saw the same moon and stars in the USA as I did in Brazil. Love you mom.

This song brings tears to eyes everytime I hear it
Yes me too
I was in elementary school when this song came out, it was so scary and chaotic at home, this song was so encouraging, I hoped someone loved me out there, so I drew the main character, the mouse, and it was hung on the school hallway wall, a proud moment for me ...
Serving the Lord in the orient for over 30 years, this song makes me think of my home town, and all those I miss. America is far away, but the memories are still there, out there , somewhere.
Jesus Loves You❤
What happened to humankind?
+jahe kunyit you know what?todays music is bull shit ...... full of crap and full of non sense todays music is a trash or a garbage .......
I feel the same way my brother. I wish and dream for that life for my children.
So sad to think Linda Ronstadt suffers from progressive supranuclear palsy and has lost her singing voice while James Ingram has died due to brain cancer in 2019, but somewhere out there they still sing together this song. We will sing with them for always. That's their beautiful legacy.
R.I.P James Ingram and James Horner.
Thank you for this song
nothing takes you back to a time & place the way music does.
Damn. RIP James Ingram. Loved this song since I was a kid watching An American Tail.

The greatest female singer of all time hands down!!
@@collinslinda263GmailThe innocence...the childhood magic😢
I totally agree
Born in 2003, but 80s/90s ballads always hit different idk why
Because it’s actually good kid. I feel sorry for you being born in 2003. What a crappy time period kid.
I was born in 2000, so as you may imagine, I grew up watching 80’s and 90’s movies
The 80s were a magical time
I don't know why they not making ballads like this anymore. Surely there's other good ballad singers to sing other than Adele and Sam Smith..
Born in '93, remember the days kids actually played outside and weren't told about some dumb battle going on in the world.
I talk to my daddy in heaven because of this song. It was playing on the radio right after I left the hospital, just got home and he passed.
My condolences for your loss.
Stuck at home during this covid 19 pandemic, listening to this great song and praying for all good things for mankind. Wherever you are, stay safe!

71 years old and still weep when I hear this song.
Somewhere out there James Ingram returned home.

IT WAS VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

One of the five best Duet performances of the 80s.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
To this day I can’t listen to this song without losing it 😢😢😢

William B Same here. Just cried like a baby thinking of my childhood.
I’m almost 50 and I sob like a baby. Might be because I’m still wishing there was someone out there.
It does hit a nerve doesn't it??
This song and movie were one of my fondest childhood memories. As a father separated from his daughter since she was 1, this song is so poignant, brings me to tears every night I think about my baby girl.

this song makes me thing also about my dad, he said when I was 8 " be right back " and the last time I saw him... makes me thing if he still out there...
This song out-Disneyed Disney. Probably the greatest movie theme power ballad of all time.
Its sad Top Gun beat it at the Grammy's back then. :(
Whenever I hear a song this beautiful and with as much meaning... It brings me back to a time when my parents were still here and everything was going to be fine, regardless of how bad it actually was. Sometimes, hearing "it's going to be ok" is all you need.
I played this song at my son’s service. He was 3yrs old almost 4.

Carol Johnson I'm sorry to hear that. I wish he could've given you his number or address!
so sorry you never got to see him again, just makes me sad to read your post, but i'll be okay & yes I've lost a couple of loves myself, right now I am trying to work on one to a lady friend who i have known since we were in the 3rd grade so I've known her for 35 years, but she is recently got divorced so I'm giving her time, but is there any advice you can give me , maybe if not it's okay, but pray for me
William B i have prayed for you william hope you and your lady are now together. God bless.
William B william the best advice i can give you is give her time and just be there for her. I am praying that you will get together i know what its like to be lonely. Try let me know how it goes. Good luck and god bless.

Somewhere out there.. Now at 42.. It made me cry again..❤️❤️❤️
I’m the same age, and I remember this song would really hit me in an overwhelming emotional sense. I would cry and then I really couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t watch that scene anymore, without crying. It was one of my first memories as a young child, watching the tv that was sitting in the floor right in front of me.
Great duet. Linda Ronstadt is the greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
Eliana Spaz That’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. My best wishes for your marriage, and love to you and your mom.
