Ditto. Gosh…Another time, I was 11 when this movie came out in 1982. Amazing, listening to the soundtrack immediately places me home. The movie is a safe hug & takes me back to being a happy adolescent w/my family, friends, life was still innocent. And this was around the time I fell in love with our beloved art form The Soap Opera and would cut 6th grade two weeks at a time “sick’ with the flu to watch Ryan’s Hope, All My Children, One Life To Live, General Hospital and The Edge of Night! Haha Good Times
When I first heard this song, I sobbed like a newborn baby! Found the ONE! Was so happy for 8 years. Lost to brain cancer. I've never quite recovered. 30 years alone.
I loved this movie when I was just 15 yrs old back then esp this music. Somehow soundtrack gives life to certain theme songs like Coming around again of Carly Simon etc.
You nailed it. Here in many comments this nostalgia is noticeable. Its soothing not to be alone with this emotion. The 80s remind me on my brother. I miss him.
I agree, this was one of the last movies my beloved mama and I watched together before she became ill..😞 mom wasn't too much of a comedy movie watcher, but boy did she love this one, I can still hear her wonderful laughter today..my God how I miss you my beautiful mother..😢 see you when I get there..rest in glory my sweet mama..♥️🙏🕊️♥️
Whenever I listen to.this music it's a bittersweet experience, the music is so incredibly powerful yet relaxing and smooth but to think that that time is lost forever is so sad...
I miss the good old carefree days of my childhood. Growing up through the 80's...Man! The music the movies the styles. Everything. All of it. Best times of my ENTIRE life. Thankful ❤
Right, I feel like the 80's were a wonderful dream that ended too quicly, the people were so kind and humble, the wind blows so softly, the air is so breathable, and the sun shines without irritating/hurting my skin.
Why is there SO much emotion packed in to the instruments and the singing on this one??? My gosh, I feel like I'm touching my childhood like a time machine. Omheart 🥲
Best days of my life ever,! young and full of life loving , parents, all loved ones. you couldn't keep up with the incredible music and greatest musicians. I am almost 64 years old and still listen to this music and keep in heart and mind the good old days of everything.
I remember this movie - was watching with my Dad who had oral cancer at the time - we sat side by side and I took his hand and kept massaging his hand then rubbing his neck - I know it made him feel calm, me also -and I felt such a wonderful powerful connection - that was in 1990 -today was reliving wonderful moments today - thank you.
Time.......something we all think we have,tears in my eyes now listening to this,remembering a warmer,happier 80s world,was a tearaway teenager,now 58,how quickly it goes,love this song so dream like❤❤❤❤❤
Such a tremendous cast - Dustin Hoffman, Jessica Lange, Bill Murray, Teri Garr, Dabney Coleman, Charles Durning, George Gaynes, Geena Davis and Sydney Pollack.
Hoffman should have won an Oscar for his part and incredible acting. Terri Garr should have gotten the best supporting actress and indeed the theme from Stephen Bishop - beautifully synonymous with 1982 should have won an Oscar for best song. Never tire of watching and appreciating how well done the production and direction are in this film.
He did win academy awards for director and best picture (that he produced). I guess he could have been even more recognized, though? He had a number of other great movies.
This song is truly one of the most romantically beautiful songs ever written. Also, the film is so funny and sweetly romantic at the same time. Julie's home, the farmhouse they visit, looks like such a wonderfully peaceful place to live. It adds to the innocence of the character and makes Michael/Tootsie fall deeper in love with her.
Beautiful song went along with the time. Such a great era to be alive back when the world was a great place to be most everybody was happy smiling and glad to be. Now people are mad and pissed off. Id go back right now and never look back.
I was an usher when Tootsie hit the theaters. It stayed for six months. By the end, I had pretty much every line memorised. While I have no desire to see it again, I must confess that it was a good movie, and so is this song.
One of the best movies of Dustin and Jessica's career I think..they were both sensational! 👏.. Jessica even won academy award..only regret I have is not recording it when it came on my wonderful TCM today, 6/30/24😢..oh well, guess I'll wait until it comes on hopefully again soon.. love this damn movie so much! It is amazing when I think back to the days of Stephen Bishop... and this was his crowning glory I guess.. I don't know, I was only 15 in 1982.. but I was wildly romantic as a kid... nevermind me.
I remember taking my Mom to see this. She thought for a minute that some woman stepped in for Hoffman, he was that good! She became a big fan of him. ❤
Its not just the 80s you miss, its the rock era from 65-95 I think that coupled with the late 20th century created the greatest pop culture generations I think the only era that had that same energy was the Classical period of the late 1700s.

If you love Tootsie, then you'll love Some Like It Hot!!! In this story, it's two out of work musicians who dress up as women and land a job with an all girl band headed to Florida. It's an absolutely hilarious romantic comedy with an all star cast including Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. The character of Daphne is every bit as funny as Dorothy! 🤣🤣
I saw Jessica Lange in a play a couple of years ago (death of a salesman). She was absolutely brilliant. I grew up with her being a beautiful actress and forgot how talented she is. Everyone in the theater exploded when she came out for applause. Even more than Gabriel burn and Michael Shannon (2 of my favorite actors)

This movie and this song gives me all the feels. What a different world we grew up in. 🥺
Time, I've been passing time
Watching trains go by
All of my life
Lying on the sand
Watching sea birds fly
Wishing there would be
Someone waiting home for me
Something's telling me it might be you
It's telling me it might be you
All of my life
Looking back
As lovers go walking past
All of my life
Wondering how they met
And what makes it last
If I found the place
Would I recognize the face?
Something's telling me it might be you
Yeah, it's telling me it might be you
So many quiet walks to take
So many dreams to wake
And with so much love to make, oh
I think we're gonna meet some time
Maybe all we need is time
And it's telling me it might be you
All of my life
I've been saving love songs and lullabies
And there's so much more
No one's ever heard before
Something's telling me it might be you
Yeah, it's telling me it must be you
And I'm feeling it'll just be you
All of my life
It's you, it's you
I've been waiting for all of my life
Maybe, it's you
It's you (maybe, you too)
I've been waiting for all of my life
Maybe, it's you (it's you)
Maybe, it's you
I've been waiting for all of my life
Maybe, it's you (it's you)
Maybe, it's you (it's you)
Maybe, it's you (I've been waiting)
Thanks for the lyrics
