Very competant refurbishment at a reasonable cost- nice work and a valuable lesson for guys who want to freshen up a tired outboard. Unless the bores are badly out of round or deeply scuffed or a piston land is broke, new standard size rings and a quick hone usually restores life to these motors and makes them a joy to run. As you likely know its getting harder and harder to find decent small 2 stroke motors. Hang on to that one- it'll run happily for a long time at 50:1. Thanks for taking the time to film, narrate and edit this excellent video

A couple things: #1 is make sure the bottom snap ring is NOT blocking the little oil hole for the bottom bearing. if it gets shifted and blocks the hole, the bearing will not last long. #2 make sure the crank case and block are completely clean and free of oil. #3 put the bearing retainer half for the center main over the bearings first for proper alignment. if you leave it in the crankcase half and put the block over it, it might not align well. #4 is to clean the cyl walls so that a white rag comes out without ANY dirt/debris on it. cheers fun to watch!

Thanks for taking the time out of your rebuild to video and post it for the rest of us. I'm in the beginning stages of tearing my motor down, and i have a similar situation with low compression. I had planned on doing the exact procedure that you detailed to get the compression higher, so your video was very helpful.
I especially like where you checked the head for warpage and corrected it at home, without having to take it to a machine shop.
My only question is whether you checked your reed valves? I've seen where they can bend open over time and not seal completely. Dangar Marine had a good video on how to correct this, by simply removing them and turning them over.
Anyway, thanks again for adding this video to the collective knowledge database of UA-cam!👍👍👍

Wow am amaze a rebuild with scored cylinders that were only honed with new rings without reboring runs that good. I’ve measured my old rings on my 90hp compared with new ones & the thickness were abt the same. So most likely the scoring was the issue. Nice work on the rebuild though.

Nice work buddy. Were the rings stuck, or the pistons galled? Everything looked "OK" inside. Ready for another 50yrs now.

The cost of the parts and how long did the work take? The result was very good.

What I noticed was cheap compression tools suck esp harbor freight, Mac tools will show 20psi -30 more correctly

Where to get a honing tool that hooks to a drill like that?

5.5 bar не маловато для стабильной работы мотора?
