Honestly I just hate the damn word “Cannon” because of things like this. Wether it’s Super or GT and Anime or Manga, it’s still Dragon Ball in the end. Would be easier to say it’s just separate dimensions or timelines rather than just saying Cannon.
i enjoy all the content regardless as to whether its cannon or not; but i do think its important to make a distinction between the main timeline and alternate timelines. GT obviously isnt in the same timeline as super, but it was still a very enjoyable series to watch
I like to think that the separate canons and such are different possible realities in the DB multiverse. Sorry if that doesn’t make since or sound ridiculous, it’s just how I see it. For example maybe GT is another possible timeline if Beerus never woke up or something, idk.
Same, tho wouldn't zeno erase the gt timeline then for having low mortal levels? Unless the kai's do there job in gt idk how they increase the mortal to please zeno.

Its interesting how fans argue what is canon and what isn't, but the people who are paid to know the story and create more of it don't even almost care about what's "canon".
I'll make this incredibly simple for everyone. Everything in Dragon Ball has it's OWN canon. You've got anime and manga canon, movie canon, video game canon, etc. In the main timeline, there's a BRANCH. One path goes like this: Dragon Ball > Z > GT...the other is Dragon Ball > Kai > Super. Both are Toei's official sequels no matter how much people like or dislike it. The only thing that ISN'T "canon" are the things not approved by the people who own the franchise. Such things include fanart, Original characters, fanfiction, parody's, etc. So GT fans can rejoice. GT is most certainly canon, as long as you're talking about the sequel to the Z (NOT KAI) anime.
An easy way to tell that nobody knows what they're talking about, is when they mistake the word "canon" for "continuity". If it's officially licensed, it's part of the official canon. If it's part of a fan made universe, it's "fanon" fan made canon If it has no place in the original story, but is still officially licensed (like filler or certain movies) it's not part of the original continuity and exists in it's own. Even the video games like Heroes, Online and Xenoverse have their place in the canon or continuity.
How I see series is that, Each show, manga, anime, movies, & games are all each there own universe. Like a anime and manga are both different universes more like when people do what if’s. Especially when movies get involved. So in the end everything technically is Canon/non-canon depending on which universe you are playing, reading, or watching. Just think of each on as a What If series.
In my opinion, there are two timelines. DB - Every movie in the timeline - GT DB -DBS Manga Personally, I really hate the way they handled the Dragon Ball IP. The fact that they keep butchering continuity every moment possible to sell products makes DC and Marvel look like a passion project that was deeply thought-out with a perfectly planned conclusion.
I like having 100 different continuities. It keeps the story interesting and slightly surprising. Instead of seeing the same thing over and over we get a whole new story
This is how I look at everything. The original Manga takes place in their own continuity/timeline, with the Anime taking place in their own continuity/timeline. The movies take place in their own self contained continuity/timelines too. I would even say Super takes place in their own continuity/timeline where the Ball and Z portions follow the logic of Super, but they split off into two differentones from the Boo arc andon. GT takes place in the Anime's continuity. But that's just me.
The retcon of the potara earrings didn't happen in "super", it happened in the Buu saga when Vegito/Vegerot infused back into Goku and Vegeta despite the fact that elder kai said that once you fuse you can never unfuse. All super did was give an explanation to their defusing even though it was meaningless to begin with given the retcon that super had already introduced with kibito kai undoing his fusion by using normal Dragon ball even though elder kai said that once you fuse you can never unfuse.
@@jordandavilabrown294 Lmao you're funny. It's permanent when Kai use them, not when Mortals use them. It's pretty common knowledge that the Elder Kai nor Supreme Kai didn't know shit about them when it comes down to Mortals using but hey what do I know?
Tbh...i dont really care weather something is canon or not weather its gt or super or any manga (example xicor, multiverse tournament etc) i just categorise it as another universe or something like that...
Wait Salad said there’s a DBS Broly visual novel but he showed some manga panels. Did he make a mistake cause I can’t find any info on a visual novel of the broly movie.
I think the easy way to put it like this there are different timelines they are all canon which happen in different timeline take fusion reborn (this is my own opinion) this happen after the defeat of the buu but in this timeline nether goku nor vegeta got revived
Dragon Ball Super follows the Minus timeline as confirmed by Broly, which contradicts events that happened in Dragon Ball to the point that it's its own What If scenario. Also how people consider scribbles by Toriyama to be "written" by him is beyond me since he has even less power than his editor back in the OG manga and we don't even know what he wrote. Canon is a western phenomena that most of Japan doesn't really care about.
"What If Suggestions" What If Vegeta Was The First Super Saiyan? What If Vegeta and Tarble Were Twins? What If Vegeta Was Sent to Earth? What If Goku Landed On Namek? What If Goku Landed On Supreme's Kai's World? What If Goku Landed On Roshi's Island? What If Goku Had A Daughter? What If Goku Learned Kaioken Early? What If Gohan Was Like Goku? What If Cabba Was Born in U7? WhIM What If Goku Black Turned Good? What If Villains Were Reincarnated?
I feel like there's only one true question to this video. Everything kind of exists in its own continuity and some forms of Dragon ball media either spread out or converge on each other. Which in a sense means everything is canon... Except the Bio Broly movie.
For me it's matter because the canon is the back bone of the franchise. Now that said Salad I have a question for you how would you write a Dragon Ball story that encompass everything that has happened in Dragon Ball all piece of Story combine in one cohesive block?
More often than not, people often misuse the term "non-canon". In fact, the term "non-canon" is almost a nonsensical term. There is no such thing as non-canon. You can say that something is non-canon in relation to a specific continuity. For example, GT is not "non-canon". But it does have a different continuity than Super, so GT is not canon to Super and vice versa. The movies are not canon to the anime or manga, but they do have their own canon. In other words, canon is relative. Because the anime and manga aren't canon to the movies either. And just to clarify, when I say "the movies", I'm referring to the DBZ movies. The Super movies are canon. Battle of Gods and Ressurection F are just movie versions of two Super arcs. And Dragon Ball Super: Broly is confirmed to exist in the continuity of the anime.
Here’s how I like to view it. Two separate cannons. The Dragon Ball, Z, and GT shows being one cannon. GT is a sequel series to the Z anime. The last episode of Z even has a sneak peak of GT. GT takes a filler episode of Z and expanded it to the Baby saga. Toriyama has said that filler is just an expansion of the Manga and GT is a side story. Cannon is possible. I call this the Toei Timeline. Which also includes Rath of the Dragon and Fusion Reborn. Then theirs the Super anime which I view as a sequel to Z Kai. The stuff in super contradicts z but not z Kai. The Toriyama timeline is the manga along with Battle of Gods Resurrection F and the Mew Broly movie The rest of the movies are in there own place. But me. The cannon goes up to the Cell saga. Afterwards not so much.
For me its like this, I view the DB, Z & Super mangas as canon along with battle of gods, rof & broly movies. That is down to preference more than anything but things make a lot more sense to me when I go through the series in that manner. As for GT I see it as a side story or potentially a different timeline that continues from the Z anime.
This is how canon in Dragon Ball works to me Manga: Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Dragon Ball: Minus(even though I hate it), Dragon Ball (all 42 volumes) + DBS manga + DBS: Broly Anime: Bardock: Father of Goku, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z/ Kai, The History of Trunks special, Yo Son Goku and His Friends Return, DBZ: BoG, DBZ: RoF, Dragon Ball Super episodes: 28-131, DBS: Broly Dragon Ball GT is non-canon but enjoyable
Ok I’m gonna say there isn’t an exact Canon but I have my own head canon of canons 1. Dragon Ball - Dragon Ball Z - Dragon Ball GT 2. Dragon Ball (Manga or Anime) - Dragon Ball Z/Kai - Dragon Ball Super (Anime or Manga) 3. Dragon Ball Movies (Except DBS Movies) 4. Super Dragon Ball Heroes or other Video games 5. Dragon Ball Evolution So stop saying GT isn’t canon it’s just a Different Canon
GT is canon to itself and not the main continuum, since Toriyama himself said it is a side story, akin to the DBZ movies in that sense. What is canon to many is what is canon to main continuum. The main continuum consists of Dragonball Part 1, Dragonball Part 2 (AKA Dragonball Z, and anime = manga according to Toriyama 1989 Anime and Me interview), and Dragonball Super. Edit: This is not to say GT shouldn't be enjoyed as an expansion of Dragonball lore. Same Heroes, Xenoverse, movies, etc. By all means have fun with it. I have my own GT dvd/ blue ray set.
I honestly do agree with you except me and a few of my friend and a lot of people in the fandom agree that each different continuity is it’s own separate timeline
In all honesty, I only view manga material (DB, Z & Super), battle of gods, RoF & Broly as canon. Moreso out of preference than anything, I ve never been a fan of the Super anime mainly because they have too many writers that don't understand the series
so, the thing about dragon ball cannon, I feel like the idea of multiverses, everything is cannon in some universe. Xenoverse, and Heroes opens a lot of really fun doors.
There should be a Dragon Ball movie where timelines break and GT SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta meet the ones from Super.. would be cool And can include non canon villains like Cooler and stuff breaking through
i feel like the canon is not very confusing the anime and manga is canon with the anime filler being the only discrepancy where you can debate if a filler ark is canon exception : supers anime came out before the manga did. so canon there is anime. i dont personally understand how people confuse stuff like canon and the timeline for me its pretty simple Dragonball > dragonball z > dragon ball super > Broly movie and then stuff like heros and the movies are just not canon
Non-canon stuff is always cool. Just look at all of the Dragon Ball fan-mangas and animations out there that aren't canon but are still great to read/watch: AF (Toyble & Jiji), Multiverse, New Age, Elsewhere, Reborn as Yamcha, DB Sai, DB Infinity, Super Kai, Kame, Deliverance, etc. Plus the dozens of "What If" Dragon Ball UA-cam channels out there as well.
Doesn't Bojack Unbound fit in the main story. The only way it couldn't fit because Trunks is still there. But they could explain that he didn't leave yet.
Please don't get mad at this comment but it's more of a question about the time rings. So the first one was the original timeline that future trunks doesn't fight but goku fights cold and frieza but then dies from the heart virus causing trunks to go back then he helps them with the androids but no cell until trunks returns and kills the androids but then cell kills trunks then goes back in time causing ring two then the whole android and cell saga go as we know then when does zamasu see goku making a new time ring?
What if goku discovered SSGod instead of ss4 when fighting baby? Would it make the events of super take place after GT? Be interesting to see omega shenron revived to fight in the TOP instead of frieza
It's a separate canon which is something people just don't understand it's not canon to the main timeline there is multiple different versions there are official versions which are still canon but then there is main canon
When it comes to Cannon, If it can function within the story without contracting something that Toriamia wrote. Then I am willing to say it's cannon, for instants, there is nothing that says the otherworld tournament COULDN'T have happened, there is nothing that says Wraith of Dragon COULDN'T have happened. Neither the Tournament nor the movie has anything that stops it from happening. Nothing stops GT from happening, so I think it is allowed to work. I am willing to bend my understanding some based on stuff, but if it can work, I am willing to say it is canon. Tho my Fav forms are Super Saiyan 4 and my Fav Movie charcter is Tapion. But if you can work something in at a reasonable point with nothing that breaks the laws of the timeline or universe. I think that it should be allowed to be considered. Bojack for instants can work if you place it After the Cell arc but might need some small changes to it to fit cleanly.
Odd that you didn't mention the Dragon Ball Online timeline, which Toriyama was completely behind as well. I think it's possible that Super will lead into this, though I guess at the very least, the DB XenoVerse games follow it. Also, I don't think that many people actually saw GT as the successor to DBZ as you implied. This became more clear when Dragon Ball Multiverse (fan manga) completely ignored GT, and there were a good amount of fans that were fine with that. GT just didn't feel like a good story at all, whereas Super does at least. That being said, I do enjoy other, non-canon sources such as movie Gogeta (for the few minutes of screentime he had) and the DB XenoVerse games.
Dragon Ball canon (正史, seishi; Literally meaning "official history")[1] was first officially defined during the Tokyo Skytree + Viz North America Tour in an exhibit called the History of Dragon Ball. It was later reaffirmed in December 2018 in Weekly Shōnen Jump. As of the start of this tour on November 1 , 2018 , the official canon of Dragon Ball includes Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga (which composes both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z in the West) and the Dragon Ball Super manga, which has its story written by Toriyama and artwork drawn by Toyotarō.[2] Additionally, despite not being adapted by the Dragon Ball Super manga as Dragon Ball Z: God and God was, Toriyama has confirmed that the events of Dragon Ball Z: Revival of "F" are a canonical continuation of his manga, as well.[3] He also considers the Jaco the Galactic Patrolman manga and its extra chapter, Dragon Ball Minus, to be connected to his series.[4] Most recently, Toriyama added Broly and Gogeta into the Dragon Ball canon with Dragon Ball Super: Broly.[1]
Every time I see a vs (BROLY VS CUMBER FOR EXAMPLE which I just saw 10 minutes ago), somebody says “Is he canon though? Exactly.” It’s mad annoying like bruh the question was who would win in a fight not who is canon🤦🏾♂️ makes me so mad
It’s more annoying when a person always brings it up even when it’s just a discussion video. And the fact in an interview with Toriyama he explains most non manga stuff happens in its own dimension but it’s just the fact in manga they never go over those dimensions existing
Does Canon matter? To me, it does, at least in the sense of, - How to begin a series - Where does it truly continue - Where will it likely go Personally, I haven't watched the anime but I've watched these videos and what ifs that while clearly spoil the events, I really don't care that I'm spoiled, but for how they are, I can take a good guess how to interpret Canon for the anime Db →Dbz →Dbs ←Battle of gods + Resurrection F Tie In Clearly - Broly Movie (I believe there will be another movie or event in the anime that'll clear up when the Broly movie happens, and if Broly will come to the anime, which I hope happens)
I believe this after Dragon ball when goku marry Chichi everything else is non canon because people can't agree what's canon/non Canon so you have it to choose either everything after Dragon ball is non canon or everything is canon
The Dragon Ball Super outline is a draft of key characters and details for Dragon Ball Super created by original author Akira Toriyama. God of Destruction Beerus Saga Toriyama suggested that the Battle of Gods movie be adapted into a saga of the Dragon Ball Super anime.[6] Golden Frieza Saga Toriyama suggested that the Resurrection ‘F’ movie be adapted into a saga of the Dragon Ball Super anime.[6] Universe 6 Saga Toriyama designed Champa[7], Vados[8], the five members of Team Universe 6 and Monaka.[9] "Future" Trunks Saga Toriyama designed Goku Black, with the designs noting that he could transform into a Super Saiyan and a Super Saiyan of a slightly different color - which he also provided the design for.[1] Toriyama designed Zamasu.[10] The setting being Future Trunks' alternate future, Zamasu's fall to the dark side, the lack of knowing Goku Black's true identity early on in the saga.[2][3] Fused Zamasu as a foe that two Super Saiyan Blues would be more than enough to hold off long enough for his fusion time to run out, Fused Zamasu's immortality being key.[2][3] Toriyama drew part of ""Future" Trunks' Past".[11] Universe Survival Saga Toriyama designed the Tournament of Power arena and the characters Jiren, Top, Dyspo, Ribrianne, Sidra, Quitela, and Korn.[12][13][7] Toriyama jointly designed Belmod and Heles with Toyotarou.[7] After Toei created Kale, Toriyama created Caulifla to go along with her.[13] Super Saiyan is achieved through concentrating energy in the back, causing a tingly feeling.[5] The Tournament of Power was to be eighty people fighting in a jumble.[13] Initially no overview for Jiren's personality was given, but his backstory of his parents and master being killed was added, along with his silent nature.[13] Top is a God of Destruction candidate.[13] The course of events for every Universe 7 warrior (e.g. Piccolo losing to Damon, and who survives until the end).[13] The twist of Majin Buu being replaced by Frieza.[13] The course of the battle between Universe 7 and Universe 11.[14] Perfected Ultra Instinct as a new form for Goku, separate from the Super Saiyan forms.[13] Toriyama drew part of "The Man Named Jiren".[15] Toriyama drew part of "The Super Warriors Gather!, Part 2".[15][16] Toriyama drew part of "Quirky Competitors".[17] Beerus calling Ribrianne cute.[18] Rozie and Kakunsa having the ability to stretch their arms.[18] Toriyama drew part of "Jiren vs. Universe 7".[19] Broly Toriyama wrote the full version of the script.[20] He added much to the character of Broly, notably a sense of innocence.[20] Designs for Cheelai, Lemo and all of Broly's appearances aside from his green-haired Legendary Super Saiyan state.[21] Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga Produced jointly with Toyotarou.[22] Some story elements were entirely created by Toriyama.[23] Toriyama drew part of "To Each Their Own Plans".[24] Toriyama drew part of "Son Goku, Galactic Patrol Officer".[25] Granolah the Survivor Saga Toriyama wrote the draft for this arc.[26] Including elements such as the new information on the Namekians' origins, the introduction of a new set of Dragon Balls, as well as Zuno's role in the story.[27] Toriyama and Toyotarou decided that Vegeta's development would go down a different path from Goku's.[27] Toriyama designed Monaito, originally naming him Slug before changing his name to avoid confusion.[28] Toriyama designed the Sugarians.[28] The Heeters were created by Toriyama.[27] Toriyama helped Toyotarou with his designs for Granolah and the Heeters,[28] putting emphasis on getting the Heeters' designs right.[27] Super Hero Toriyama provides the original concept, wrote the script (including every detail of the dialogue), and drew character designs for the film (changing pre-existing characters to their manga designs rather than those used in the anime). It has been said that he is even more invested in this film than the prior three he wrote.[29]
it matters cause it happens or it doesnt. and i think it does matter to consider. i agree that its all well and fine to enjoy the characters and stories in different ways. saying something isnt canon isnt saying it's good or bad. its just saying that it is or isnt a part of the originally intended story. and just cause a writer helps with assembing a story for a movie doesnt mean a movie is automatically canon. i think ussually it means the OG writer also enjoys playing with their own characters OUTSIDE of the universe to which they belong. outside of the main series. tbh tho, i really really did enjoy this video. it kinda got me thinking like. what if this multiverse stuff is a way of adressing all that. like that big T is trying to break down the 3rd canon wall. haha idk. good video. canon is comp. and GT was fantastic. Toriyama actually confirmed himself that the movies and GT are just alternate timelines. So technically everything is canon
10:35 this is exactly why Vegeta wanted to use the third wish against kid buu for new boots, size 9 please
Bojack Unbound could fit into the main story since it takes place after the fight with Cell during the 7-year gap.
An easy way to tell that nobody knows what they're talking about, is when they mistake the word "canon" for "continuity".
If it's officially licensed, it's part of the official canon.
If it's part of a fan made universe, it's "fanon" fan made canon
If it has no place in the original story, but is still officially licensed (like filler or certain movies) it's not part of the original continuity and exists in it's own.
“GT isn’t canon” is the new “Pluto isn’t a planet”
In my opinion, there are two timelines.
DB - Every movie in the timeline - GT
DB -DBS Manga
Personally, I really hate the way they handled the Dragon Ball IP.
I need a link to that twitter thread about Vegeta’s shoes, Chief
"Dokkan has it's own continuity"
Me: Who knew that a bubble popping game had a story that I can't even remember
To be fair, not even the Dokkan Devs remember that story
I love how you blurred the evolution movie
This is how I look at everything. The original Manga takes place in their own continuity/timeline, with the Anime taking place in their own continuity/timeline. The movies take place in their own self contained continuity/timelines too. I would even say Super takes place in their own continuity/timeline where the Ball and Z portions follow the logic of Super, but they split off into two differentones from the Boo arc andon. GT takes place in the Anime's continuity. But that's just me.
3:53 this man blurred out db evolution 😂😂
The retcon of the potara earrings didn't happen in "super", it happened in the Buu saga when Vegito/Vegerot infused back into Goku and Vegeta despite the fact that elder kai said that once you fuse you can never unfuse. All super did was give an explanation to their defusing even though it was meaningless to begin with given the retcon that super had already introduced with kibito kai undoing his fusion by using normal Dragon ball even though elder kai said that once you fuse you can never unfuse.
Goku stated in the buu saga that they defused because of the air inside buu which explains why it happened right when Vegito dropped his barrier
@@ChrisHighlights that still a retcon given the fact that their fusion was meant to be permanent.
@@jordandavilabrown294 i liked dragon ball mutiverse's explanation better on why they defused
@@jordandavilabrown294 Lmao you're funny. It's permanent when Kai use them, not when Mortals use them. It's pretty common knowledge that the Elder Kai nor Supreme Kai didn't know shit about them when it comes down to Mortals using but hey what do I know?

God I'm only a few minutes in and thank Kami I can tell this is gonna be a great video
Tbh...i dont really care weather something is canon or not weather its gt or super or any manga (example xicor, multiverse tournament etc) i just categorise it as another universe or something like that...
No it doesn't matter as long as it's official it's an actual thing.
4:33
Boujack Unbound: Bruh
facts
salad finally lost his shit just staring at the screen so he started blinking
Dragon Ball Super follows the Minus timeline as confirmed by Broly, which contradicts events that happened in Dragon Ball to the point that it's its own What If scenario. Also how people consider scribbles by Toriyama to be "written" by him is beyond me since he has even less power than his editor back in the OG manga and we don't even know what he wrote.
Canon is a western phenomena that most of Japan doesn't really care about.

I like Canon (Dragon Ball Super) then Non-Canon (Dragon Ball GT)
Well you can go to hfil
I feel like there's only one true question to this video. Everything kind of exists in its own continuity and some forms of Dragon ball media either spread out or converge on each other. Which in a sense means everything is canon... Except the Bio Broly movie.
I have an idea, what if the good part of super 17 turned good? How would it effect the shadow dragon saga?
Hello mr perfect cell how are you doing
To me is what is canon when not the manga. Manga is the core, and if the anime does not flow with the manga then it's canon.
I like how he blurred dragon ball evolution
The Toriyama timeline is the manga along with Battle of Gods Resurrection F and the Mew Broly movie
The rest of the movies are in there own place.
Same here, the entire Original DB manga, the entire Super manga, BoG, RoF, and DBS Broly movies are all in the same timeline
This is how canon in Dragon Ball works to me
Manga: Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Dragon Ball: Minus(even though I hate it), Dragon Ball (all 42 volumes) + DBS manga + DBS: Broly
Anime: Bardock: Father of Goku, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z/ Kai, The History of Trunks special, Yo Son Goku and His Friends Return, DBZ: BoG, DBZ: RoF, Dragon Ball Super episodes: 28-131, DBS: Broly
Dragon Ball GT is non-canon but enjoyable
I loved the fact that you blured out the forbidden movie
In my opinion we all have our own canon like I could say that I think gt is the true timeline then that is canon but it’s just canon for me
My life was much better when i didnt think about canon.
I grew up with DBZ budokai so for all i knew, DBGT and DBZ Broly were canon at the time
Why the does salad saiyan’s purple cell have an incredibles logo on its chest
am i going insane or was salad blinking at the begining
Ok I’m gonna say there isn’t an exact Canon but I have my own head canon of canons
1. Dragon Ball - Dragon Ball Z - Dragon Ball GT
2. Dragon Ball (Manga or Anime) - Dragon Ball Z/Kai - Dragon Ball Super (Anime or Manga)
3. Dragon Ball Movies (Except DBS Movies)
4. Super Dragon Ball Heroes or other Video games
5. Dragon Ball Evolution
So stop saying GT isn’t canon it’s just a Different Canon
@@bartold7080 true
You're smart. And all non cannon is just dragon Ball not written by Tori
@@khimon45 who is and what do u mean
@@omnisystem6030 you. And I'm basically agreeing with what you say non cannon is
To me if the story flows and gives the great feeling the show and manga does im okay with it that's why I love fan mamga channels such as this 😍
I just realized, after watching this video gg is like the canon of end of z and super is the canon of buu saga
Please Salad release the thumbnail without the text if you've custom made it
Is some of the music in the background The Lighthouse by Musicboxes??
There should be a Dragon Ball movie where timelines break and GT SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta meet the ones from Super.. would be cool
And can include non canon villains like Cooler and stuff breaking through
i feel like the canon is not very confusing the anime and manga is canon with the anime filler being the only discrepancy where you can debate if a filler ark is canon
exception : supers anime came out before the manga did. so canon there is anime.
i dont personally understand how people confuse stuff like canon and the timeline for me its pretty simple
Dragonball > dragonball z > dragon ball super > Broly movie
and then stuff like heros and the movies are just not canon
Non-canon stuff is always cool. Just look at all of the Dragon Ball fan-mangas and animations out there that aren't canon but are still great to read/watch: AF (Toyble & Jiji), Multiverse, New Age, Elsewhere, Reborn as Yamcha, DB Sai, DB Infinity, Super Kai, Kame, Deliverance, etc.
Plus the dozens of "What If" Dragon Ball UA-cam channels out there as well.
I thought I was tripping when I saw your avatar blinking
so the cell Jr's on monster Island aren't canon? Therefore eliminating all chances for having ANY version of cell return?
Salad saiyens eyes are very good flow of blinking
awesome discussion but please leave a post to tell us when things like this are gonna come up.
Doesn't Bojack Unbound fit in the main story. The only way it couldn't fit because Trunks is still there. But they could explain that he didn't leave yet.
Damn Trunks messing with time travel lol. Yeah. It would actually fit aside from that little detail.
When did salad blink?
Is it me or does salads non what if videos have better editing
Did you know that the 10 year times skip inside it that is when dbs started and ended inside the 10 year
Dragon Ball canon (正史, seishi; Literally meaning "official history")[1] was first officially defined during the Tokyo Skytree + Viz North America Tour in an exhibit called the History of Dragon Ball. It was later reaffirmed in December 2018 in Weekly Shōnen Jump.
As of the start of this tour on
November 1
,
2018
, the official canon of Dragon Ball includes Akira Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga (which composes both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z in the West) and the Dragon Ball Super manga, which has its story written by Toriyama and artwork drawn by Toyotarō.[2]
Additionally, despite not being adapted by the Dragon Ball Super manga as Dragon Ball Z: God and God was, Toriyama has confirmed that the events of Dragon Ball Z: Revival of "F" are a canonical continuation of his manga, as well.[3] He also considers the Jaco the Galactic Patrolman manga and its extra chapter, Dragon Ball Minus, to be connected to his series.[4] Most recently, Toriyama added Broly and Gogeta into the Dragon Ball canon with Dragon Ball Super: Broly.[1]
13:15 yeah you tell him tbh DB evolution is kinda slap
As much as db fans rag on GT, it doesn't matter, it's just what you prefer.
My head canon is that the series goes like this
DB-DBZ-DBS-End of Z-DBGT
This makes the most sense to me tbh
Does Canon matter? To me, it does, at least in the sense of,
- How to begin a series
- Where does it truly continue
- Where will it likely go
Personally, I haven't watched the anime but I've watched these videos and what ifs that while clearly spoil the events, I really don't care that I'm spoiled, but for how they are, I can take a good guess how to interpret Canon for the anime
Db →Dbz →Dbs ←Battle of gods + Resurrection F Tie In Clearly - Broly Movie (I believe there will be another movie or event in the anime that'll clear up when the Broly movie happens, and if Broly will come to the anime, which I hope happens)
I believe this after Dragon ball when goku marry Chichi everything else is non canon because people can't agree what's canon/non Canon so you have it to choose either everything after Dragon ball is non canon or everything is canon
Goku and piccolo driving is cars is canon. And nobody can tell me otherwise.
The Dragon Ball Super outline is a draft of key characters and details for Dragon Ball Super created by original author Akira Toriyama.
God of Destruction Beerus Saga
Toriyama suggested that the Battle of Gods movie be adapted into a saga of the Dragon Ball Super anime.[6]
Golden Frieza Saga
Toriyama suggested that the Resurrection ‘F’ movie be adapted into a saga of the Dragon Ball Super anime.[6]
Universe 6 Saga
Toriyama designed Champa[7], Vados[8], the five members of Team Universe 6 and Monaka.[9]
"Future" Trunks Saga
Toriyama designed Goku Black, with the designs noting that he could transform into a Super Saiyan and a Super Saiyan of a slightly different color - which he also provided the design for.[1]
Toriyama designed Zamasu.[10]
The setting being Future Trunks' alternate future, Zamasu's fall to the dark side, the lack of knowing Goku Black's true identity early on in the saga.[2][3]
Fused Zamasu as a foe that two Super Saiyan Blues would be more than enough to hold off long enough for his fusion time to run out, Fused Zamasu's immortality being key.[2][3]
Toriyama drew part of ""Future" Trunks' Past".[11]
Universe Survival Saga
Toriyama designed the Tournament of Power arena and the characters Jiren, Top, Dyspo, Ribrianne, Sidra, Quitela, and Korn.[12][13][7]
Toriyama jointly designed Belmod and Heles with Toyotarou.[7]
After Toei created Kale, Toriyama created Caulifla to go along with her.[13]
Super Saiyan is achieved through concentrating energy in the back, causing a tingly feeling.[5]
The Tournament of Power was to be eighty people fighting in a jumble.[13]
Initially no overview for Jiren's personality was given, but his backstory of his parents and master being killed was added, along with his silent nature.[13]
Top is a God of Destruction candidate.[13]
The course of events for every Universe 7 warrior (e.g. Piccolo losing to Damon, and who survives until the end).[13]
The twist of Majin Buu being replaced by Frieza.[13]
The course of the battle between Universe 7 and Universe 11.[14]
Perfected Ultra Instinct as a new form for Goku, separate from the Super Saiyan forms.[13]
Toriyama drew part of "The Man Named Jiren".[15]
Toriyama drew part of "The Super Warriors Gather!, Part 2".[15][16]
Toriyama drew part of "Quirky Competitors".[17]
Beerus calling Ribrianne cute.[18]
Rozie and Kakunsa having the ability to stretch their arms.[18]
Toriyama drew part of "Jiren vs. Universe 7".[19]
Broly
Toriyama wrote the full version of the script.[20] He added much to the character of Broly, notably a sense of innocence.[20]
Designs for Cheelai, Lemo and all of Broly's appearances aside from his green-haired Legendary Super Saiyan state.[21]
Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga
Produced jointly with Toyotarou.[22] Some story elements were entirely created by Toriyama.[23]
Toriyama drew part of "To Each Their Own Plans".[24]
Toriyama drew part of "Son Goku, Galactic Patrol Officer".[25]
Granolah the Survivor Saga
Toriyama wrote the draft for this arc.[26] Including elements such as the new information on the Namekians' origins, the introduction of a new set of Dragon Balls, as well as Zuno's role in the story.[27]
Toriyama and Toyotarou decided that Vegeta's development would go down a different path from Goku's.[27]
Toriyama designed Monaito, originally naming him Slug before changing his name to avoid confusion.[28]
Toriyama designed the Sugarians.[28]
The Heeters were created by Toriyama.[27] Toriyama helped Toyotarou with his designs for Granolah and the Heeters,[28] putting emphasis on getting the Heeters' designs right.[27]
Super Hero
Toriyama provides the original concept, wrote the script (including every detail of the dialogue), and drew character designs for the film (changing pre-existing characters to their manga designs rather than those used in the anime). It has been said that he is even more invested in this film than the prior three he wrote.[29]
5:03 boi you lying trunks got his sword from tapion
it matters cause it happens or it doesnt. and i think it does matter to consider. i agree that its all well and fine to enjoy the characters and stories in different ways. saying something isnt canon isnt saying it's good or bad. its just saying that it is or isnt a part of the originally intended story. and just cause a writer helps with assembing a story for a movie doesnt mean a movie is automatically canon. i think ussually it means the OG writer also enjoys playing with their own characters OUTSIDE of the universe to which they belong. outside of the main series. tbh tho, i really really did enjoy this video. it kinda got me thinking like. what if this multiverse stuff is a way of adressing all that. like that big T is trying to break down the 3rd canon wall. haha idk. good video. canon is comp. and GT was fantastic. (which is also why its hard. cause i remember being like 12 or 13? watchng GT and less than half way though my friend mentions in passing "oh no. this dosent really happen" im like wot? "yeah.. the story doesnt actually go in this direction" .... so like everything i was investing in and getting stoked on. this. this is like .. a . what could have been? hm. idk
In my opinion if you like it then you like it, dosnt matter if its canon or not
