    I like the TS12 Disassembly and Reassembly video. However, I would REALLY like a video that shows specifically what parts should be oiled or not oiled, what areas should be cleaned. Basically, "How to Clean the Tavor TS12." Can't find any info on it.

      I've been searching all over for the same thing. I have a feeling I'd have better luck finding a unicorn or a bag of Skittles that are carb-free than the answer on the magazine tubes.

      Yes. Tim on the UA-cam Military Arms Channel found that cleaning and lightly lubing the magazine tubes eliminated a repeating failure to eject problem with one brand of shotgun shell. After he lubed the magazine tubes the problem went completely away.
      You can do it with a lightly oiled 12 gauge swab through the loading ports compressing the magazine springs as you go, and with a small enough cleaning rod, an eye-hole endpiece, and a small piece of tee-shirt material you can do it through the small holes in the front ends of the magazine tubes.

    I want to bring to your attention a crucial detail in disassembling the TS12, which proved to be vital for me. The process involves two key steps:
    1) Press the shell release forward (officially named the carrier stop lever in the manual).
    2) Press the bolt release.
    In this specific instance, I deviated slightly from the video instructions, and as a result, the gun jammed. I found myself unable to disassemble or assemble it, requiring considerable effort to resolve the issue. Eventually, I sought assistance from a factory expert. As of January 11, 2024, I can confidently say that this video is the best online resource for TS12 disassembly.

    Overall, a really good video. I would like to see some more information about lubrication. What kind of oil is recommended? Is it appropriate to grease any parts? What parts besides the gas piston should not have lubrication?
    Beyond that, is there a procedure for cleaning the magazine tubes? Some videos on YT are recommending a little oil in the magazine tubes if you are having feeding problems. Is this good advice? Lubrication in the magazine tubes is going to attract dirt so, I'm in a quandary.

After some work I got the regulator out, but I had to take the inner silver par, that connects to the 3mm pinned ring and the connecting cap on the top, so my problem is, I do not remember where the opening on the silver part lines up with the flat surface. do you have any images or reference material I can use?

    Mine keeps jamming. What's the magical formula for rounds in this thing? I put some Winchester Clay shot in it. I want to say 1.125oz and 1300 FPS high brass at 2 3/4in in. Do I need to go heavier?

    • @1977TheHammer
      @1977TheHammer 10 місяців тому +1

      Typically, people find slugs and 00 buck above 1200fps are needed to break in the springs and action functions on new parts. The manual says "For optimum performance of this shotgun, use shells with a minimum
      velocity of 1200 fps and minimum weight of 1 1/8 oz." but I always ran hotter than that when it was new.
      The manual says typically, the Low setting is for 2.75" shells, and the High setting is for 3" shells (which they call magnums). They also say to avoid sketchy ammo like handloads, military surplus, foreign made (Russian), or remanufactured (I'm not kidding, someone put that in the manual... Ever seen a "re-used" shell? lol).
      Once it's broken in it should run basically any factory load, but don't feed it garbage until then. ;)

    • @tdata545
      @tdata545 10 місяців тому +1

      @@1977TheHammer Never shoot sketchy stuff. Always namebrand like Winchester, Federal, Dupo, stuff like that. I've been mostly shooting slugs out of it, since that's all I really buy for my shotgun ammo. Not much into buckshot or bird shot.

    Good video, but I stripped mine down before watching it, didn't even look at the manual. That's not bragging, that's complimenting the engineers. I still have to use a guide to tear down and AR.
    This and the AUG, both examples of guns you can take apart with no directions. Good engineers don't need to make things too complicated.
    My TS12 eats anything I put in it. I like that in an automatic.

    What chocks are available for that Tavor TS-12?

    • @1977TheHammer
      @1977TheHammer 10 місяців тому

      Anything that fits the "Benelli/Beretta Mobil" choke style. Thats the most common of the Benelli chokes, and includes any that fit the Benelli M1, M3, or M4 shotguns (not the M2), or any of the Turk-nelli AR-12 guns like the Typhoon F12.
      That includes all the normal choke sizes for bird shot, buck shot, and slugs... but also the rifled cylinder tubes for slugs, and even the choke tube BARREL EXTENSIONS. These come in 4" (100mm), 6", 8", 9", 12" and usually have their own choke tube threading where you can use a normal choke. Yep, if you want a 30" barrel for skeet/trap its totally doable.
      There are also "Metro Gun" options. Duck hunters, and even slug gun guys have for years used Metro Guns and metro-gun-extensions for 3 FOOT barrel extensions that have between 32 and 64 ports (depending on manufacturer) to slowly off gas. The shot does go faster than in standard length shotguns, but if you use sub-sonic loads (less than 900 fps) the report is about 72 dB. Thats CRAZY quiet. They're designed to be used in a blind for hunting near urban areas.... and it doesn't require a tax stamp because it's not a "silencer".
      Make sure you get a Manicore Arms Muzzle Break retention nut. The stock handguard nut doesn't play nice with any extended choke tubes, not even an inch. The Manicore Arms muzzle break has a LOT more room, and any choke tube will fit (plus, as long as the choke tube isn't more than 2" or so, the muzzle break is actually functional).
      If you're looking for a super durable choke used by competitive trap or 3-gun shooters, check out Mueller's Chokes. They make hardened stainless-steel chokes with ceramic cerakoat that can shoot any velocity, any material (lead, bismuth, tungsten, steel, etc...), in both buck and slugs... even at "Modified" choke size for slugs (so yes, you can use buck or slugs interchangeably).
      The Benelli Mobil choke threading was a MASSIVELY under-utilized and understated part of this firearm IMO.

    • @cameronrobbins6253
      @cameronrobbins6253 4 роки тому +6

      I press the tube release and let it go as soon as it starts to rotate... causing it to lock in place immediately when it gets to position. My brother had the issue you're speaking of because he kept the mag tube release button down the entire time and it's easy to over rotate causing it to not load correctly. Hope this helps and enjoy your ts12

    • @araarthura3007
      @araarthura3007 Рік тому +1

      This is correct. The release button is a RELEASE. After the magazine tube assembly is released and can rotate, let go of the release button and let the magazine tube assembly find home on its own. You will hear it click. No guesswork required.

    • @1977TheHammer
      @1977TheHammer 10 місяців тому

      Yeah, if you're riding the release button, you could slide in and then out of lock up. Punch it free and let go. I really wish there was a larger or extended release button for this reason. A longer lever would lower the effort on your index finger to pop it free, and also bring the button closer to the pistol grip (and I wear size XL gloves). Definitely need an aftermarket option for that IMO.

    Reassembling the last piece of the stock was a pain in the ass! The tolerances were so tight around the notch that I had to use a dremel to get it back on. Luckily, I’m a countertop installer so that was second nature for me, but it was still a pain until I figured out what was preventing it from locking back in place.

      As of right now, I think only the charging handle can be swapped to either side. To be fully converted, the bolt and carrier assembly has to be sent to IWI. I believe they are making plans by the end of the year to sell conversions kits commercially. In the meantime, just scooch your head back a little on the stock so the shells don't smack you in the lip on the way out.

      Yeah,, you think the Standard MFG DP12 has a bad teardown? Go watch the breakdown for the Typhoon F12 (semi-auto turknelli AR-12 design). They have a goofy gas barrel that requires you to spend half an hour to flip 180 degrees and reassemble just so you can go from Low to High gas settings.
      The TS12 is a miracle of design by comparison.

Where are the Tavor 7 videos on assembly and disassembly, changing from left to right hand shooting and just an over all how to work and shoot the Tavor 7. Maybe some videos on cleaning would be great also along with best optics, flash light, handle or bipod, iron sights, suppressor etc. I would have thought for such a badass updated gun we owners of Tavor 7's would have more information and videos other than the user manual.
