I completely agree with you about Paula's Choice. Not one of their products worked for me and their pricing is outrageous. But as far as C is concerned, there are many aspects to it. Dropper bottles are the worse packaging for C, pure form. The pure form is hard enough to stabilize and unless it is in a pump bottle, it will degrade faster. But the forms of C and pure form help sunscreen work better. I'm ready to try the Neutrogena C in the break open capsules.

Can you advise what to use for reactive skin. I used Geek and Glow vit c and I react to it quite badly. Or is there another ingredient I could use?

I used a SAP (sodium ascorbyl phosphate) 23% vitamin C derivative every day for years. It was gentle on my rosacea skin. I started it to brighten my skin as was in late 40s at the time…3 years later I was applying make up and suddenly realised a raised keloid scar I had since 18 was gone. For years it had been really hard to get makeup to stay on that area, it was only one day when I was applying foundation when I realised I wasn’t fighting to make it stay. The scar had flattened and eventually I just had a tiny flat speck I could only see really up close with a magnifying mirror. As I was applying product to my face every day I didn’t register how that area was changing over the years. Sadly the Vitamin C I used was discontinued and I think the company went under during the pandemic as they were a small company and no longer any website. I will look at the Geek and Gorgeous one as I am trying to find a new vitamin C, so thank you.

I've been using the Melano CC serum by Rohto for 3+ years. To be honest I don't know how effective it is at lightening dark spots/sun damage, but I love it because it gives an instant, noticeable glowy effect to the skin. I've tried more expensive vitamin c serums but they don't give me as dramatic of an immediate glowy effect, so I always end up going back to Melano CC.

I really like Paula's Choice as a brand. While they are more expensive, the products are multifaceted with various actives and good packaging. I do, however, find that their prices are increasing on a regular basis and customers in the EU and UK are paying significantly more than customers in the US. While I still use quite a few of their products, I have started using cheaper alternatives.

Glutathione + 4-butylresorcinol = a powerhouse cocktail to inhibit pigmentation. Adding one or both to Vit C would make one less serum for me to buy and one less layer to add if the Glut/4but concentration were strong enough. Currently, I'm using Truth Treatments' tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. It's expensive, but the bottle lasts forever. Seriously.

Great video. Winter is dry, low humidity, indoor heating leading to more moisture loss and pollution with lower lipid production and barrier function, a lipid stable vit C and other fat soluble antioxidants like vit E, with a slather of ceramides would no doubt help. Would you be willing to do a ‘mad about winter’ routine? To cleanse without stripping, lock in moisture, antioxidants, barrier and ceramide support? I’d rather be ‘mad about winter’ in a good way than the freak out zone my skin is currently in. Thanks and really appreciate your opinion as a true foot soldier and man of the people when it comes to skin xx

Same. I really really want to find a vit c that doesn’t bother my extremely sensitive skin. I just received Peter Thomas Roth Potent C Power Serum from Sephora, based on The Budget Dermatologist recommendation here on You Tube. Bloody effin expensive but compared to the money I have wasted on dozens of “cheaper” serums, it will be ok if it works . I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks for your information on vitamin c derivatives! I’m currently using two different vitamin c l ascorbic acid serums. One from Inde Wilde and one from Timeless. Both have vitamin E and Ferulic acid in then except one is 15 % and one is 20%. I use the 15% in the morning and 20% at night. I also ordered a vitamin c derivative moisturizer from Peter Thomas Roth which used THD as their form of vitamin c. Excited to start using that one in my routine. I love vitamin c!! 😂

Just found your channel from a pore strip short 😂
I wanted to come to the most recent video and see what you have to say about this (I subbed btw❤).
So, I have HORRIBLE hyperpigmentation. I don’t care about it on my body, but I do on my face. I look like I have a beard and mustache of it, along with severe scarring. I’m almost 53. I take a lot of vitamins to keep my immune system well, as I have Lupus and Hashimotos.
So, what’s the BEST and most inexpensive way to get rid of it? I look so ugly.

  • @dannyleeds1132

The newer vitamin c formulations pair L ascorbic acid glutathione and gold as a complex and it means you don’t need the low Ph usually required for L ascorbic acid to work and also the complex means the vitamin c last a lot longer in the skin

  • @xLittleulipx
    @xLittleulipx 9 місяців тому

I use the green vitamin c toning ampoule from ariul. I like it so far (it kinda grows on me XD), but I think it's not really sensitive skin friendly (it has fragrance. I think they tried to override that hotdog water scent that comes with ascorbic acid) and kinda expensive. It has besides ascorbic acid a lot of other antioxidant (it also has glutathione).
I like the vitmain c serum from Geek and Georgus better, it just has a lighter texture.
I've never tried vitamin c derivatives, so maybe I'll give it a try someday (I can handle ascorbic acid pretty fine though). Let's just see how my skin handle the colder months.

I know vitamin c is usually formulated with a lower Ph, even the derivatives. It may be it’s just too harsh for your skin or that your barrier is compromised and is in need of healing before adding anything potentially irritating. However, I wanted to say, as a fellow sensitive skin owner, I have been considering purchasing the Allies of Skin 35% vitamin C serum. Apparently it’s in a waterless base, so Ph is a non issue and I love that there are no common irritants in the formula. I haven’t pulled the trigger due to the price, but I know I will eventually.
