Hello everyone! I've had a few people asking where you're supposed to apply so I thought I would explain it again here! Usually if Disney Cruise Line are hiring for any position it will be listed on the Disney Cruise Line section of the Disney Careers website. Just search Disney Cruise Line Jobs on google and it should be one of the first search results that pops up. If you don't see any job postings at all or for the job you're looking for (like youth activities for example) it probably means they aren't hiring at that time, there aren't active job offerings ALL the time but that doesn't mean there wont be at some point so keep checking back if its a career you're really interested in pursuing! Hope that's cleared things up a little! All the Love, H x
My son and I went on first cruise on the Fantasy in November 2018! I truly cannot say enough about the counselors in the Kids Club. My son is very insecure when in unknown environments and is a very hard sell to participate in activities. The counselors found a like-minded child around the same age and the boys just bonded. It completely changed my son's experience for the whole trip. You guys are true treasures!
thank you for your kind words! it's so nice to hear that our hard work doesn't go unnoticed and that we can help make people's cruises extra enjoyable just by doing something as simple as the person in your experience did!

Aww thank you so much, that’s so nice to hear and I’m glad it helped you learn more about the job! Let me know if you have any questions at all I’d be more than happy to answer x
@@perksofharriet I actually do have a question! I was wondering how competitive the applications are? I have a ton of childcare and camp counselor plus lifesaving/swim teaching experience and I know I’d be perfect for the role of Youth Activities. I’m also curious if theres a certain time the contracts usually run? Like at one of my jobs we worked in sessions so you would sign up to work the fall session or the winter session. Is it like that? @@laurenspry4654 oh you’re for sure super qualified for the job and I have no doubt they’d snap you up in a heartbeat if you applied! I’d say they probably open applications every few months. And in terms of when they would hire it really depends on availability on the ships. They don’t really focus on specific time periods or anything like that. I guess if you aren’t available though for a specific time period like if you’re tied to another job for a few months more if you let them know that at some point during your hiring process they’d keep a note of that so that they can offer you an opportunity after that time. So apply whenever applications open again I’d say! Keep checking the Disney cruise line jobs website for openings in youth activities! Good luck ☺️
We love cruising on Disney. It was interesting hearing about your job on Disney Fantasy and what life onboard is like for you! Thanks for sharing this with us.
I sailed on the Dream 6 different times between 2011-2016. Some of my dearest memories are the interactions I had with the counselors in Edge and Vibe.
This video was very informative. I have no plans to ever work on a cruise ship but I am planning my first Disney Cruise on the Dream in November. There is so much info about what younger kids can do in the clubs but not much about Edge and vibe. All the videos make the kids club look so amazing and fun and the teen spaces look so boring. I have 2-13 year old boys who don't hate Disney but like most teen boys are not Disney character crazed. People just keep telling me they will love Edge and won't want to leave, but nobody can seem to tell me why. I would love a video specifically about how counselors engage teens and what teens can expect in the clubs.
That's so exciting to hear! Hope you have the best time! Oh that's such a good idea for a video! I can absolutely do that for you! The pictures and videos definitely don't do it justice I know when I first walked in there for my training week I wasn't that impressed until I started working there and ended up loving it, the kids have so much fun up there (and I did too haha)! Let me know if you have any questions or things you'd like me to talk about regarding Edge for the video!
Hello!!! Did they ask you on the interview if you knew about Disney history or Disney cruise line history? About Disney movies? Your favorite characters? Thank you! ❤
They asked why I wanted to work for Disney really more than what I knew about Disney. They hire you for the person you are and if you have the sort of personality that fits with Disney and that sparkle. Someone I worked with wasn’t the biggest Disney fan and didn’t really watch Disney films ect and still was successful in getting the job! But if you do have knowledge about it that always helps!
I do second the request for more on Edge and Vibe as my son will be in one or the other depending on the date of our next cruise. Especially, with regards to engaging shy tweens/teens. Thank you.
@@kirrieholden4794 ooh sure, that was probably one of my favourite things about working in Edge, Castaway days where so much fun! I think I'm gonna run through each day of the cruise and what to expect for the teens/tweens. Would that be helpful at all?
I’m so glad I found your profile! I’m about to graduate from uni next April and i’ve been wanting to travel after school. So I’ve been searching on Google, peoples experiences and I haven’t found a lot until I came to UA-cam, and your video is probably one of the best I’ve come across. In regards to Disney cruise, do youth counsellors get to choose to work with the younger kids or with the preteen and teenagers? Or is it a set schedule and you just rotate?
Hi Harriet, thank you for the great insight , I'm heading on my contract with the disney wonder soon and been getting great tips off you. Just wanted to know If I wanted to go on another contract straight after my first one finishes , is that an easy process. ? Thanks
Congratulations! What role will you be doing? Yeah it’s a really easy process, generally they’ll automatically invite you back for your next contract as soon as the first one is almost done so pretty straight forward! Hope it goes well 😊
@perksofharriet I will be a youth activities counsellor! I believe you did the same thing. What was the best and worse part about it? Also, did you ever help in other departments ? Thankyou
How long roughly was the first stage of the application for you as I’ve sent my application a week ago today and not heard anything? I currently work in Turkey for TUI in Kids Club in which I’ve worked two seasons from March to November in 2023 and the same in 2024. So really the longer I’m waiting the more nervous I am at the moment this would be a dream job for me. Also just hope my experience is more than enough really 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I work in kids club on a german ship and realy love ist! sadly we aren't officers and don't have any privileges. Are you allowed tell something about the salary on a disney ship? I'm very interested in this. :D
Oh that’s so cool! Working in the kids clubs is the best job isn’t it? It may have changed since I last worked for them but the rate of pay was just ok, we got payed every two weeks and I think it was maybe around $900 or so we’d get payed those two weeks? Don’t quote me on that though lol.
If you either look up Disney cruise line jobs or whichever cruise line recruitment company runs in your country hopefully something should come up for youth activities!
hey! do you know how strict Disney cruise lines are (or other cruises in general) with experience and qualifications related to childcare? i have one season of working at a summer camp over in america but nowhere near the amount of experience some cruises put on their description. thanks!
Hi there! I think it really does depend on your recruiter! When I was applying there was a mixture of people who’d been working with children for years and some (like me!) who didn’t have as much experience getting hired for the role. Recently though they have been a little bit more particular about the experience side of things, especially when it comes to working somewhere like a leisure/ travel location that can experience high volumes of people visiting because they want to know that you can handle that once you get onboard. You may well find that if you do apply they like you for you and take you on anyway because you’re a good fit for the company. Either way it’s definitely worth the shot! Good luck!
As early as possible really! It depends on your start time too I guess, sometimes you have all morning/ early afternoon and sometimes you only have a few hours to get off and get what you want done. But usually it'll be early morning so that you can achieve what you need before drew all aboard at around 3!
Hey! I really want to work on a Disney cruise ship during my gap year, I do Drama A-Level and have experience acting and have experience in hospitality etc but I'm worried because I will only be 18/19 I won't get hired? Do you have any tips!! :)))
Hi! They don’t tend to hire anyone really under the age age of 20/21 so you may have to hold off for a little while! Maybe it’s something you can revisit again another time if you’re still interested in!
Hi!Your video is super helpful and beneficial! But English is not my first language so i am not very confident about it.(Your English is so good btw)So i keep wondering what kind of language level required by this job❤ I am really scared what if i can't listen as clearly as native speakers do😢
I’d say the majority of the crew onboard the ships don’t have English as their first language so I wouldn’t worry about that at all! As long as you have a decent understanding of the language so for instance can read, write, converse and you’re able to comprehend safety information etc that’s all you’d need really.
They don't have adult only cruises with Disney Cruise Line! They have adult only areas such as pool areas and bars etc that become adult only at night so if the adults want time away from kids that's possible but it's a family cruise ship company for sure!
Hi! It depends on the role but in youth activities you could work up to 11 or so hours a day. You have to legally have at least 10 hours of break time throughout the day I think it was so that could be before your shift, a break in between your shifts or an earlier finish for instance.
No I wouldn’t say so! It certainly helps if you have some sort of background in whatever role you’re going in to but it’s not a requirement to have a degree!
Cast-a-way hires for Disney cruise line as well. They have a job fair today for a few positions!! You can also sign up at all cruise jobs. They let you know about job fairs etc. Good luck!
You go through about a week of training with the training manager and then a week of on the job training with a trainer and both of them will go through everything and will cover all aspects of the job which does include misbehaving children! Oh gosh thank you so much this comment made my day 🥰 usually you start off with the younger kids (so with the 3-12 year olds) and sometimes you get given the opportunity to move to work with the tweens and teens a little while after that. Mostly that’ll be after your first contract but they do occasionally move people in their first contracts too. It’s up to the managers though who moves so it depends really on the type of personality they’re looking for or what operational needs they need to meet really!
