Since the vast majority of the crew are housekeepers, food service, etc., it’s nice to see you mention them. I’ve watched a lot of these crew videos and they are pretty much always someone in the entertainment department. I have been on several cruises as a passenger but I am also a professional stagehand and have known a number of performers who have worked cruise ships. Sometime though, I would like to see a video made by one of the food service, housekeeping or custodial staff to see how their life is different from the entertainment staff, beyond the obvious difference of the actual work they do.
Well yes... Because ONLY contractors can film or even eat in main spaces They are a small fraction The regular employees. So not easy in main dining do paying customer activities and don't get to film. Same with any resort Hotel Super market Etc
As she said there is difference between staff and crew. Food and beverages services and housekeeping are crew (unless you are manager or assistant manager). Crew are not allowed to film or be in guests areas apart from when they are working. On some cruise lines if they find that you have phone with you when you are working you will get warning ( 3 warnings and u are fired). So don't expect videos like this from those departments anytime soon and also crew is easier to replace, so lets say someone from Thailand decides to open his youtube channel and films his working experience, company can just replace him, there are many waiters and housekeepers in every hotel around the world. However if you are dancer it takes a lot of time to train for the shows so they are a lot harder to replace.
Is because hk and restaurant staffs have work to do. Crew members from theter as dancers and singers have a plenty of free time. They dont wak everuday and when they do, is like 3hr a day.
@@wenryareco6228 there are 6000 crew members and 7000 travelers, on vacation, let's say... You on vacation, do you really want crowds of workers all around?
I worked on Cruise ships in my 20’s, back in the 1990’s. I worked in the gift shops and then as a Cruise Staff Host for a total of 4 years, usually for between 6-9 months per contract. As the shop manager I had my own cabin which was great! You’ve done a fantastic & comprehensive job explaining what life is really like onboard. For me, it was a great opportunity to travel the world and experience unique places while meeting some wonderful people. Thanks for this.
It is good to see these videos and know there are people who actually live in the depths of the ship who are the backbone of the entire operation. It is one thing to see the crew, shows and entertainment while not thinking about where crew go when the cameras and the crowds are gone. Not a job for the fainthearted or those who always think 'Titanic' whenever they see a ship... any ship even a cargo ship... also, the fact that Enchantment of the Seas is still sailing in 2023 is itself a miracle.
People go on cruises to have that magical vacation/holiday. You don't think about what goes on in areas the guests can't access or how all these crew people live when they're not working. And I guess that's kind of the point of a magical vacation, to forget the little things, but I find the behind the scenes stuff fascinating (like the Disney World underground tunnels) and I think a lot of the stuff you shared here should give cruisers a better understanding and some appreciation for the crew who make that fantasy on the higher decks possible. We appreciate the hard work and sacrifice you crew folks make (being away from friends and family for long periods of time) to give the guests that memorable experience and let them forget the real world for a little while. Thank for sharing. Well done video.
I really enjoy vids on cruise ships. This was really interesting to watch. I never plan on taking a cruise. Not my style of travel but I think it’s the inner workings of a little city that intrigues me.
I'm still 15 years old. My brother will be working on a cruise ship in like 3 months. I am having interests to also work in a cruise ship. I would say my english is decent and it would be good enough to do daily conversations (English is not my first language). But i do have my concerns so if any crews or former crews are here, your help would mean a lot. So first, what are the medical checkups to work in a cruise ship? I personally have some concerns. I have some crooked teeth and also have keratosis Pilaris (Both of which are fixable but won't be easy haha). Second, I am worried about one major thing, and that is my social life. As a teen who spent a huge portion of my life in my home with very little social life because of Covid. I stutter quite a lot when saying repetitive words. I always say those words too fast so it almost becomes hard to know what I'm saying Third, i am an introvert. Even though I'm not badly introverted, sometimes during a conversation i don't know what to say or what to choose the topics of the talks are Fourth, How is the daily expenses on cruise ships? I know the food and cabins are free, but how is the other stuffs like Wifi, and etc? Especially that I'm looking to work as a food service which have a low pay compared to others Lastly, what is the work time? What is the time you spend at work daily? I've heard that sometimes it's around 8-16 hours a day and 7 days a week which is quite a lot but still manageable So yeah, that's about it, if anyone's reading this please give some advice haha
Love your videos so much🤩 Can you please do an interview style video with your cast with each of them telling their process of how they got a contract with royal whether it was in person auditions or online submissions/online call backs or through their agent? How many times they auditioned before they actually got a contract? and what the audition process was like and advice on how to get a contract? What they wore/hair/makeup to the audition? What types of videos they put up on their royal profile? How much time they waited till they got the offer after attending the audition or submitting videos online? Thank you
It seems like a cool life and get to travel the world for free. I almost did it in the late 80s. Paid for the cruise ship jobs book and had my resume ready, but at the last minute I chose college. It still sounds like a cool job though.
I have a trip planned in January on the Icon Of The Seas. This will be my third free trip with Royal. I was going to take the Panama trip from Miami to Los Angles but I just can’t get off for 18 days. The best trips I enjoy are going to Alaska or Italy.
Would love to hear what should people do or experience on a cruise. Because we only have 7 days to explore the ship, and sometimes we miss out other exciting things to see or do. Love your feedback.
Can you please tell us more about the activities and the schedule as Youth Staff ? I will soon start as this position for MSC Cruises and I would be greatful to have more info.
Great video!! Can you please discuss in your next video the guest speakers? How are they treated on Oceania and Regent? What are their relationships with the staff and the entertainers? What are their privileges/access in the crew sections of the ship, etc.,etc. Thanks!!
I watched a documentary on cruise ships. You know what makes a cruise profitable are alcohol sales. Most of the cabin money goes to food etc. You make decent money at 700 a week take home. Nice to see the world. Last April was the first time I left the US. Mexico cruise on carnival at age 49. The juice was horrible.
Do you need to know how to swim to work on a ship? Also, I know you touched on this, but are there rules against crew that want to date or "hook up"? Great video. Questions; (1) in your POA vlogs, you talked about how much the crew get pay, Is Royal salary the same or better? (2) How did you boyfriend enjoyed working on Seabourn? and (3) Did he have to go through a lot of auditions to get the singing job on Royal?
So Royals pay is based on ship size so the bigger the ship the more the pay, which Norwegian doesn’t do! He liked Seabourn but I think prefers a larger cast (his was only 6) and slightly bigger ships but the itinerary was really cool. And for royal auditions he submitted online and was hired through the videos!

I have a question. If you're married but you want to work on a cruise ship, does your husband and kids get to live on the cruise ship with you or do you have to like leave your family for the time that you're going to be gone working on the cruise ship?
I worked for TUI Cruises as a sound engineer and am cvonsidering to go back. Does anybody here know. how flexible Royal is? For example at TUI you could request to go on a specific route or to have a contract together with your girlfriend/friend, does Royal Carribean let you do that? Thanks :)))
hey i want to know that whenever we are off duty can we go offboard the ship to the city areas ? and if we are on a specific cruise ship does it always travel the same place again and agian ex- place A to place B and repeat ?
Not from what I've watched on Jordan Bauth's channel. She's in the ice cast and has her own channel. I guess it's like any corporate job; people/departments are treated differently 🤷
On the Pride it was just one wardrobe supervisor who did everything so I’m not sure but on Royal I believe it’s between like $250-$400 depending on the ship? Not positive tho!
Just ran across your channel. Very interesting to hear the ins and outs from a staff member. I’ve been on 2 cruises as a touring sound company supplying equipment and crew for national tours. Wasn’t much up my alley, but, seeing the behind the scenes of a daily operation was kind of interesting. I really appreciate how you made sure to include all crew and not just the more elite. I agree with your statement about finding and making friends you can count on. I’ve been in the music touring business for over 40 years and I’ve seen a lot of good people quit because they can’t handle being away from friends and family for long periods of time. Thanks for doing this video. I will be watching more to come. Be safe and always enjoy life

Usually 6-9. And I’m sure there are opportunities if you apply!
@@krista.jocelyn im already hired as a utility. Interested to work also in entertainment if there will be a chance
How are you doing & you look really good.
I have a bad eyesight, can you please tell me if i can pass the medical test or not
Question. If you have a family emergency at home can you get leave or do you have to resign? Or is it like the military that you have to stay there.
It depends on the situation but usually you can leave for like 2 weeks and come back!
Random question, but who and why would certain crew members not be allowed in guest areas?
The cooks , normally they're not allowed near the pax cabin area
It’s almost the same that Navigator right???
Would u be able to send checks out? While ur on the ship
Yeah there are mailing options and you could always go to like a local mail place too
I have a question. If you're married but you want to work on a cruise ship, does your husband and kids get to live on the cruise ship with you or do you have to like leave your family for the time that you're going to be gone working on the cruise ship?
Unfortunately you have to leave your family for that time, but they can always come visit!
I worked for TUI Cruises as a sound engineer and am cvonsidering to go back. Does anybody here know. how flexible Royal is? For example at TUI you could request to go on a specific route or to have a contract together with your girlfriend/friend, does Royal Carribean let you do that? Thanks :)))
You can always request things but you never know if they’ll be able to accommodate!
hey i want to know that whenever we are off duty can we go offboard the ship to the city areas ? and if we are on a specific cruise ship does it always travel the same place again and agian ex- place A to place B and repeat ?
If you have time off then yes you can get off the ship! And not necessarily, it just depends on the ships itinerary
Do you have to be able to swim to work on a ship?
I wish I talk to you person to get more information about cruise ship work
I don’t know if you will reply but I’m applying for the Entertainment Media Specialist job position, what can you tell me about it?
I’m actually not sure what that position is! Is it onboard or shoreside?
Thanks for replying, it's on board. The position is about TV production basically.
What is the age limit to work on a cruise ship
Are you going to get into yachting and sailing? Or are you sticking to the cruise boats?
Probably not! I’ve never really considered it though!
what does it mean that you get paid in wi-fi? free all month or how does that work?
I get paid 300 Wi-Fi minutes per hour of work!
Hey I'm your new subscriber and I'm confused 😮 where are you from??
I'm from Colorado!
@@krista.jocelyn ohhh "Denver" so you live there now?
I take it the ice skaters have very different rules and/or privileges?
I would think they’re similar, but this ship doesn’t have an ice cast!
Not from what I've watched on Jordan Bauth's channel. She's in the ice cast and has her own channel. I guess it's like any corporate job; people/departments are treated differently 🤷
What if the ship left you when your on the road touring?
As a crew member, you get fired 🫢
@@krista.jocelyn so how will you be back on board, all your stuff is on board?
@@raymondsanderson3688 I’ve heard that they will pack up your room and leave it with the port agent!
@@krista.jocelyn don't ever let the ship leave u one day ok,I need more videos 👍🙏🥂
What experience is needed to work on a cruise ship
Hey dear, what work do you do there
In royal did you pay for the flight ticket?
No they provide flights!
Thank You, Beautiful
How do crew have access to a hair and nail salon while onboard
If they have guest area privileges they can go to the guest salon. Or occasionally other crew members offer their services in their cabins! Haha
can you order stuff like online and how does that work ?
Yep! You can often get things shipped to wherever your home port is!
What is the pride bump for wig captain
Be safe and always enjoy life
Thank you so much for watching! It is so important to find people you can lean on when you're away from home!
Do the ships have maintenance personnel?
Yes!
Anthem Of The Seas has single share room, you only share bathroom
Omg yes! I totally forgot about jack and jill rooms 🤦🏻♀️
