So as someone who isn't out and about in the snow...what are the snow shoes for/what do they do? Do they just help you walk in the snow? Or are they suppose to help keep the snow off your shoes? I've never warn them.
Hey Miranda! That’s such a great question- this deep in winter I wish I could be asking the same 😂 Yes they help you walk through deep snow, dispersing your weight throughout the snow shoe so that you do not sink down through the snow! Thanks for asking ⛄️💛
When we are in the park, we have a CB radio (ordered on Amazon) in the truck. The logging trucks (when active) call out their mile markers as they pass them so you can hear when they are coming up to you and so you can move to the side safely. I love the Algonquin Park!

You should watch this video together, and pay attention to hiw you watch and look at one another. You're both smiling when looking at the other. It's absolutely touching. 🥰
If you get a 3 or 4 ft. piece of 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch water pipe (metal not plastic) you can blow air into the fire without getting your face that close. I use a piece of 1/2inch copper pipe with a cap soldered on the end and a1/4 to 1/8 inch hole drilled in the cap. You can put a lot of air into the fire in a hurry that way without getting your face all covered in soot.

@@Vanwives Since you both will be mostly van bound and with plenty of time on your hands I wanted to share a channel which I know you'll both enjoy and get great satisfaction from viewing. Unless you know of it already. ( Ocean Conservation Namibia)
Some tricks to get un-stuck in a 2 wheel drive. 1) ALWAYS carry a 12V AIR COMPRESSOR (and Fix-A-Flat) on board. I can not only inflate a tire, but you can intentionally deflate your tires to create a wider foot print (flotation) in soft ground, mud, or snow. It looks like you are running BFG All-Terrain tires (same as me- = good choice) which have a thicker sidewall for off-roading and can handle lowering the air pressure to 20psi to get better traction, then re-inflating them with your compressor, when you get back on paved roads. It will also soften the ride when you are going a long way on rough roads. 2) Most 2 wheel drives have an 'open' differential (rear end-gear box). When turning, the outside wheel spins faster than the inside wheel, which aids in easy turning and increase tire life. The problem is, when one wheel loses traction, all the engine torque goes there because it's less resistant, and the other wheel with the traction and more resistance, does nothing. On a rear wheel drive, when one wheel spins and the other doesn't, slowly apply THE PARKING BRAKE to even out the resistance and split the torque evenly. It's surprisingly effective. For front wheel drives, about the only thing to do is to turn the steering wheel side to side while slowly applying the throttle, to look for a 'bite' of traction. Don't over spin the tires. Finesse NOT power, will get you out. 3) You mentioned A WINCH in your video. Given your lack of internal storage, a bumper mounted winch seems like the way to go. Make sure you grease the cable and keep it covered and clean from road grime and the SALT you use up there in the winter. A portable winch that plugs in to a receiver hitch gives you more options, especially if you also mount a receiver up front. This will also give you more external cargo options like bike racks or basket carriers you can mount front or back. I know your van ways MUCH more than 5k, but unless you plan to hang it from a tree (like in 'The Gods Must Be Crazy') you only need a little help. A ratcheting 'come-a-long' will take up less space, but then you will using your muscles to slowly crawl your van out. 4) TRACTION PADS- Buy them or make your own, you can store them on a roof rack, out of the way, and put them under your drive tires when you get mired in.
Such a great way to start my Sunday morning. It was 86 degrees here yesterday so seeing the four of you deal with the cold is quite a sight. Have a blessed week.
Terrific video, women! I especially love the drone shots, and the silent scenes. So glad you include shots in the woods that don't have music or words. Just the wonderful Canadian winter in the woods. BTW, have you seen the "bbq/firepit" that Eamon and Bec had made for them? It might be a perfect way to have a fire in the woods, and would keep the fire off the earth. Just a thought...
Glad you enjoy those quiet scenes that are full of nature. Yes actually we sat around a fire with them and we were amazed by the craftsmanship. Great idea to have in the van- one day! 😊
So great to have you back after your break. Everyone needs them once in a while. I have a sick cat so I’ve had to extend my Christmas vacation another month. my favourite crew is back. Its been terrible for sunlight this winter here in Collingwood (and rest of Ontario). I am always so happy when the sun makes a brief appearance. I need a road trip to Mexico ! Whos in?
Is so beautiful up there with all the white snow and Bella and Izzy playing in the snow that is just amazing I am living in New Jersey now but I miss the Canadian Winters when I lived in Windsor and Hamilton we had some wonderful winter storms with the beautiful snow in the great times digging each other out LOL
Cheers to you guys. We escaped the NYC Winter and started our drive across the country in November right before the snow started. We just launched our UA-cam channel and had a little scare last week. We thought Van Life was over for us. Any comments/feedback/suggestions on our latest video would be really amazing. Love your content and your journey and we cannot wait to keep up with you guys! Thank you so much for filming this beauty; it actually got me pretty emotional, in a very good way:) To anyone watching outside of the colder parts of Canada or anywhere else, you are seeing the wonderful part of living in this climate. So grateful to be along with your four!!!!🙏🌈 ☀️❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜
Thank you for the welcome back!! Glad you enjoyed it Sheila!! It truly is spectacular to be able to experience winter with sunshine and quiet landscapes. See you next Sunday 💛💛💛
I'm binge watching to catch up to date. Love your videos. I saw where you got bogged in the snow. Instead of a winch (which will add a lot of weight to the front of the van, and use a lot of battery when you use it), consider going to a 4x4 shop and getting a set on Max Trax, which are lightweight but very strong plastic planks that you can get under your wheels to drive out of a bog, whether it's sand, mud or snow.
❤Several companies offer aftermarket cruise control systems. Some of the notable ones include: 1. **Rostra Precision Controls** 2. **The Cruise Control Store** 3. **Dakota Digital** 4. **Lite-On Automotive** 5. **Command Electronics** The cost of an aftermarket cruise control system can vary based on the brand, features, and complexity of the installation. Generally, you can expect to spend: - **Basic systems**: $150 to $300 - **Advanced systems with more features**: $300 to $600 Installation costs can also vary significantly. If you plan to have it professionally installed, labor can add another $100 to $300, depending on the vehicle and the complexity of the installation. Overall, you might be looking at a total cost of $250 to $900 for parts and installation. 😊

Look forward to your weekly vlog! Its not as cold here as it is in Canada. I admire you both so much out there in remote areas dealing with the snow and cold. Glad to see that if y'all get stuck you can get roadside service! Have fun out there! 💛💛💛
Hello! The beautiful west cost!
Thanks for watching 💛💛
Totally enjoyable video. On point editing. Your video quality is awesome, makes me feel like I am right there with you (freezing my tail off as well). Thanks ladies.

Hey there guys !! Dinner in bed, nothing better!!!!! Your puppies, so gorgeous. O’h, and so are you both🙂. Love watching you vids !!! So cool. You guys rock ❤️🙂
Haha you’re right dinner in bed is great!! Thank you Andy 💛
my favourite crew is back. Its been terrible for sunlight this winter here in Collingwood (and rest of Ontario). I am always so happy when the sun makes a brief appearance. I need a road trip to Mexico ! Whos in?
Yes!! Every few minutes of sunshine a day makes a difference, missing it big time. Ahh we are dreaming of the road to Baja 😍
They sure are cute in the snow eh! Oh I bet you’re missing it. What great memories! Haha
its great to see you all back .yes a winch & some grit & trye tracks would handy to keep in snow like that.
Yes! Going to see about that!! 🤗
Safe travels, happy Van Life!
How exciting! Hope you’re having fun capturing the journey! Must be so great to escape the winter 😍

Bella & Izzy with all that fur are having like a day at the beach.HAHAHH
Hahaha it’s true
So did you get to see any Moose while you were at that spot? And yes that's a good plan, get your self's a winch for the front of your van. Maybe get a portable winch for when you fall over and get stuck in the snow when out for your walks, lol.😁 Stay safe and see you next Sunday, Cheers!!!
Unfortunately not. We for sure would have showed you if we did. Hopefully we spot one soon for you all! Right! 😂😂 stay safe and well. See you Sunday!

Holy magic not even 30 seconds in and I'm already commenting!! Bestill my heart, those furbabies and your energies! What a good start to a long self isolation. Grateful for your shares and awesome film/editing skills for such an enjoyable background! It's like I'm actually doing something....
That’s the best!! Thank you so much for the kind comment Madi! Excited to share each Sunday with you. See you next week 💛
Hi vanwives❣❣❣Thank you for your fun, giggly presentations! I'm a retired teacher, 69 years old, & preparing to roll solo in my recently purchased 2016 GMA Savana van, pulling my little toy hauler with my 2 little pups. I'm so grateful for your inspiration to keep moving on❣❣❣🙌
Wow!! That is soooo exciting Linda!! Happy we can inspire you, enjoy the journey 💛
I like how doggies come running if they think you have fallen down and when they see you did it on purpose they push you down even more hehe. Fun Show. :)
Hahahaha yes!! They are so fun
Welcome back!!! The scenes of the back country are absolutely stunning.
Love your videos!.. exquisitely crafted.
Thank you!
❤Several companies offer aftermarket cruise control systems. Some of the notable ones include:
1. **Rostra Precision Controls**
2. **The Cruise Control Store**
3. **Dakota Digital**
4. **Lite-On Automotive**
5. **Command Electronics**
The cost of an aftermarket cruise control system can vary based on the brand, features, and complexity of the installation. Generally, you can expect to spend:
- **Basic systems**: $150 to $300
- **Advanced systems with more features**: $300 to $600
Installation costs can also vary significantly. If you plan to have it professionally installed, labor can add another $100 to $300, depending on the vehicle and the complexity of the installation.
Overall, you might be looking at a total cost of $250 to $900 for parts and installation.
😊
So glad to see you back. Looks like you are having quite a good time. To much snow for me but it looks like the dogs really like it. Be safe and see you next Sunday.
Thanks Thomas! See you then
