Hi everyone! Rio's paws are just fine. :) She never showed signs of frostbite (as you saw I checked them constantly), and the bag balm lotion I applied worked great throughout the day. At the time I could not leave camp to buy booties for her, but I assure you she is happy, healthy, still very spoiled, and will have booties next time. Thank you for all the love and concern for Rio. 🐾

Good people are few and far in between but when i find them i always dance in the stars with them. Sometimes we just take that leap of faith and if it doesn't work out your home has wheels but don't forget to take your respect off of the table on your way out.

Alot of times in extreme cold the normal moisture in the air freezes. 🥶 This makes for a very dry condition. So lips and even animal paws can get dried and chapped. Another sign of this condition is lots of static electricity. ⚡️

@REGRETLYSS. Your furbaby is adorable & seems like she loves that snow! Have you ever tried doggie snow boats? Soft on the inside & waterproof on the outside, she may take a bit to get used to them however they work wonders & are great for snow & also salt used for concrete/asphalt to keep it from being slippery! The salt is definitely terrible for their paws & the doggie boots w/definitely help Rio in the snow! I'm a new sub, 1st time watching your video, you should be a writer & I just love your description of your journey, in your own words, Beautiful, best wishes, stay safe! 👍❤️🙏

There’s so many folks asking why in the world Lyssa chose to go somewhere cold and snowy… some of us actually like the cold, thrive in winter, thrill in the snow. I used to live where she went right after finishing the build. It’s the highest incorporated town in the mainland US and I’m glad I had that experience. What speaks to each of our souls is different and lovely and isn’t that just wonderful?

As a senior now (68) as I watched this I have many regrets of not doing the things I should have done, life is too short to stay stressed all the time, my advice it don’t get caught up in all the glittering things of this world, it’s only temporary and will fade away leaving you empty. Live life simple as you can, look to God and find peace with him and never look back.

A quick note about the Tin used for your Coffee Beans @5:20 if I may. I am 57, but my Biological parents divorced when I was 5. My father quickly remarried to a woman who hated anything to do w/ his previous marriage...including me. She beat me and locked me in the attic (in Fla.) and as it became apparent to him, he quickly took me to NC where my mother, who had also recently remarried was settling in. I was only in Florida while they were moving from Colorado, and I was only suppose to be there for an extended visit while they moved (hold on...almost there) I was pretty shell shocked, and really didn't know if anyone really wanted me, and for the first day or two I would go out to play but returned every 15 min. or so to see if mom was still there...and she would give me a shortbread cookie out of an EXACT replica of your tin. Eventually (as my mother told for years) I would stay out a little longer each time, and soon was comfortable enough to realize that I was finally home...finally wanted. And thru-out my life she would tell this story with an ending of: It was a good thing that I finally became comfortable because the cookies had just ran out. Sorry so long, but when I was clicking around, and found this video....when I saw that Tin... I wept. Thank you, and God Bless 🙂

A baptism in the depths of cold, as you enter the world anew. And you test your legs, stretch your wings. It’s always easier from here, the first steps of tomorrow and tomorrow… There will finally be a moment when you realize you don’t have to keep searching, and know that this day and every day that follows, are the ones you’ve been waiting for. Live in that moment, live in each day, thrilling all of your senses with what surrounds, right now. This is when you will love yourself, because you will love life.

Yep! But actually men are statistically more likely to encounter violence, death, or assault. So, I’d say, regardless of whether you’re a woman or a man, you need to be able to defend yourself. If you choose not to carry a gun, just carrying pepper spray is a good idea that just might save your life!

@Rardz Jr With a woman named Dan Seals?

    • @tannhauser5399
      @tannhauser5399 2 роки тому +3

@Dan Seals - true that. I've been in Finland, at -30C (-22F), and it was OK. You can cope with it outside, as long as you are moving. Then some place like Oymyakon, with -45C (-58F). Then Australia, 40C+ (104F) for a 1-2 weeks. Or more. This is one amazing planet, as long as you can move around. Some amazing places to see, and experience out there.
As for defending? For example, EU is quite safe, especially nothern countries. My god, so much good camping spots there, quite good regarding camping and traveling as a lady. UK (Scotland, Wales, Ireland, south of London too) for example has a lot of places for camping, whole families do that every year, single people included (just a car and a tent will do), and so on. Spain, Portugal, Italy - hell, you can drive through whole Europe in your camping van, as there is plenty of spots for campers. And a lot of people is doing that too.
Safety? Sure. Mostly use a common sense. Buy a teaser if you have to, but I've never meet anybody that had to use it in any camping place in EU.
Anything more, such as gun? An overkill in EU. Skip this crap if you ever travel here in your van. This is not US.
Safety in some of the large cities? Some of the neighbourhoods? Yeah, that is different story, but then again, a common approach and common sense is more than enough to keep you safe. Most of the time, you actually will be OK and you will have no issues at all. Like in any other large city around the globe, just keep your eyes open.
Safety in small towns and villages? Not an issue. Quite the opposite. A lot of friendly people, curious too, and willing to help you or give you some advices of what to see in any local area.

Hello from the mountains here on the East Coast ... ok ... the big hills here on the East Coast. I'm sorry if this sounds stupid, but it was something I did while I was in the Army. Most of the vehicles we used (including my tank ... yup, I drove (and lived off of) a tank) used diesel engines like your tiny home (on wheels) and often enough we found ourselves in equally bad winter conditions. What we did, to ensure that our engines didn't freeze up was to literally set a schedule where we would start the engines up ever few hours (it depended on fuel availability ... tanks guzzle fuel like no one's business) to make sure they would crank; first time and just let them run for about 10 minutes. Being alone, I might incorporate that into your daily extreme-camping to-do list. I know you have a lot of really intelligent back-ups built into your rig, so I'm probably just worrying after nothing, but your engine is your most important energy source and so, you have to take care of it. The one cool thing I did notice on another build though, if you have the alternator(s) rigged the right way, you can have it pre-set to start the engine up and supply energy to your batteries and heat to your truck if your batteries hit a certain number or if certain sensors start to show that pipes or tanks are starting to freeze. Maybe something for the future. Sooooooo, good luck with everything and I look forward to seeing your next video.

Hi , as a Canadian i can relate to the cold temps. My dog has these little booties that he wears in the winter and once he gets used to them they work well for him. I was thinking maybe your dog (which is SO cute) could benefit from these dog foot boots. I really like your van. You have it laid out very nice too. You should do a video of how you built and designed it. Take care , i am a subscriber and will follow your journey of Van Life. All the best

I love Colorado winter snow. It’s so quiet that one can hear the earth breath and birdsong travels through the forest. Growing up in Colorado, I love the silence when it’s snowing, but have also learned to be prepared by having rice, beans and flour plus let your water drip to prevent frozen pipes. And as cold as it can get, the East Coast is way colder because of humidity, but either way layer up the clothing and have a lot of distractions for being snow bound d. Just watch out for the weight the snow can put on your home. We’ve gotten upwards of 6 feet and I live in the so called banana belt of the SW

I have not watched many episodes of your channel. But this one really resonates. I think it benefits the mind/soul when we push ourselves beyond our comfort zones. I come from the north, and throughout my upbringing saw temperatures of -40 F or so many winters, yet always wondered what it would be like to be in extreme cold. So much was my curiosity that one winter I left a comfy store job to work on a seismic crew next to the Arctic Ocean. 12 hour workdays walking around the tundra on the night shift with howling winds that made the wind chill far colder than the -47 F temp( -87 C one night). Despite frostbite, and having to see the world through half shut eyes(wind and wind-blown ice particles) it was a surreal experience, kind of like being on another planet, I suppose. But the display of northern lights, and the stars above, made it all so strangely calming to my soul. I think you have touched on these kinds of enlightening feelings that come with the cold season, and our exploration of our physical and mental limits. You are doing wonderful work with your channel, and if I may say so, you are a very lovely lady...

Interested in the enchilada bake! Jackfruit tacos looked delicious. Unsolicited safety suggestion inbound: when cooking and cutting with your knife.. try holding the handle with your middle, ring, and pinkie fingers. Rest your index finger flat against the blade near the handle (curl the finger back toward the handle), and position your thumb on the opposite side of the blade. This will just add more control and stability. This could avoid any unwanted kitchen mishaps! (Speaking from unfortunate experience) Just a suggestion and do whatever you’re most comfortable with! :)

I used to live in the country in Iowa. we were off grid for heat and water. the house had been hit by a tornado previously and i had put on a new roof in the part that had been ripped off. minus twenty ... i don't think we got down quite that far? but below minus 10f for sure. i had to drive into to town to work; about 10 miles. it got so cold in the foot of the car my insulated boots could not hold it back and my feet were icicles. often i felt as you did about being on the edge of calamity. once our pipes froze, once the well froze. the gas tank had to be filled mid winter and it leaked a little. racoons ate our chickens. ouch. i loved it there. the sky was so clear and the stars were huge. deer, raccoons, possums and sorts of wildlfe and exotic life the farmers raised that escaped ended up in my back yard! eventually my job in town called me to live in town and i moved away from our little homestead. i still miss it and if i drive by tears fall.
the little house i live in, in town is wonderful. energy is expensive so i have had the gas detached and use electric space heaters instead. i hooked up a tankless water heater last year and it is a wonder! i'm working on solar and other off grid ideas.
having a family was wonderful. my son died this year in a boating accident. the rest of my family is alienated. so sad. due to covid and other viruses and my age i isolate. it took some getting used to! at first i was afraid. i had no one to help me except my neighbors and there is a limit to that! also it is dangerous because of viruses currently. so i take steps for safety and communication other than face to face. but i love being alone. the spirit world has opened up for me. i did not expect the spirit world to be such a big deal but it seems it is!
at your age i suppose looking for a life goal is important. as a female i think developing a network is important. but eventually you will be all alone again when you achieve krone hood. by then you will have a very solid foundation i am sure. the things you learn now will serve you well. I watch a number of female solo van conversion situations and i am very pleased that so many women have taken their own lives in their hand and learned to survive, sometimes from scratch!
    Blessed Be! Mia

An awesome video! Some ideas you might consider on your rig: starting either for cold weather to help start the engine in cold weather. A little spray in the air cleaner will really help the 7.3 start in winter time. A little goes a long way though. Too much and you will blow the heads off the engine. It’s cheap at Walmart to buy starting either. Another thing I started doing was changing the engine oil to a synthetic oil for the engine and rear axle. I use Amsoil synthetic. A little bit more expensive but it’s superior to any petroleum based oil. Regular oil gets really thick in cold weather but synthetic oil is not affected by cold weather. Buy a couple of quarts , synthetic and regular oil and leave it outside one night and see which one pours in the morning. All engine wear occurs at engine start as the bearings have no oil and the oil is really thick in the oil pan due to the cold weather. Synthetic oil will not thicken when cold and the 7.3 will start easy. The synthetic makes a huge difference in winter an summer. But if the engine leaks oil then don’t buy the synthetic. Too expensive. Gorgeous video! I’m subscribed!

Love your videos... Watch most, but possibly not all of the build.A couple of safety concerns.Even as a backup, heating with your oven is a bad idea.. It generates carbon monoxide. This will kill you!…. No joke!Don't know if you have one, but I highly recommend a fire alarm combo with a carbon monoxide detector. It will save your life!
Also, Rio needs at the very least a set of booties for her feet in these temperatures, and possibly a coat. If you wouldn't go out in your bare feet, you're dog shouldn't either.(this goes for hot weather also). I would happily send you these items, however they need to be custom fit to Rio. Any decent pet store should be able to help you with these products. I hope you take these suggestions to heart, and in the spirit in which they are given… yours and Rio's well being. I too, live in Colorado... That was a hell of a cold spell! Very glad that you, Rio, and the monarch faired it well! Loving your journey.. Be safe, and be well!

I love that your out here just living your best life. This is amazing and I hope one day…I can achieve this dream for myself. This world is a very soul crushing place sometimes. Recently going through a separation with a fiancé I viewed as my soulmate.
We had a dream, a skoolie and it all fell apart. It took finding god, and releasing old demons and skeletons in the closet. Becoming truly sober and straight edge. For the first time in my life I’m happy with myself. Without chasing a high. And I’m so thankful 🙏
Sadly it was too little to late. And now I’m broken-hearted once more and alone. Living in a house we bought together. And despite this new found bliss. The memories here haunt me. She haunts me… I hope to find the peace you display.
Love your music and vibes displayed. Very inspiring that someday I can achieve this lifestyle and dream myself. I’m happy you’ve found your peace. I wish you all the best in your adventures. 💚

I want to share with you my own experience of what i have learned that is a very simple yet profound way to alleviate your broken heart any anxiety or any uncomfortable feeling , emotion or ISSUE or offense ( like abandonment , betrayal , rejection, abuse, degradation, devaluation, unworthiness, neglect , robbed or violated or being unloved)
      it's a three step process and as you feel an issue or emotion or uncomfortable feeling, or anxiety, bitterness or anger etc. arising into your daily experience;
1.LET IT SURFACE into your experience
Don't suppress or run or be distracted from it, embrace it "like a parent" and "be the parent" to your very own "wounded inner child" (Who is represented as the feeling).
experience what you are feeling in whatever state it is in, uncomfortable or depressing etc. as if your own son is the one suffering, be the parent not the feeling, you are the space for the feeling for your inner child.
Very important: to Acknowledge and Accept it, with loving kindness and welcome it, with hospitality.
2.LET IT BE in whatever state that your feeling , let it remain with you until patience has her perfect work inside your heart and when it is finished,
3.LET IT GO and be thankful that it has run its course through the river or spring of your consciousness.
Sidenote: Letting it run its course is essential bc normally we resist it and dam it up by suppressing or denying its existence. But would you deny your very own son if he walked into your room? would you pretend that he does not exist?.....of course you wouldn't , but here we are.......
The intention is to let your feelings run their course through your consciousness if you resist your feelings and try and suppress it, it is equivalent to putting a dam in a river therefore impeding its flow. Embrace it feel it and let it process don't push it down don't repress let it flow and when it is done you let it go!
And it leaves you just as quick as it came, you will see that if you practice this you will feel right as rain!
Love the lord God with all your heart mind and soul and love your neighbor as ( you love) your self.
Bc when you give your inner child value in acknowledgement and acceptance and love. You are giving yourself internal validation, value and acceptance and love. The same he gives back to you and then you give back to the world and the people therein completely authentic, genuine and sincere, without pretense!
This process has revolutionized my life, my heart , my mind and my soul, it is truly a game changer and i enjoy letting others know bc this will allow you to open your heart and reach the stars and the heavens and thereby open the gates to glory!
      Blessings!

Hello just giving a tip..i seen you starting your diesel and wanted to tell ya .you can buy external block heater pads from Amazon not expensive and can keep the engine block warm or turn them on for hour .it will warm the engine block before starting when she's that cold...also always ask when getting fuel in winter..if the gas station fuel has beem winterized they also add winter additives...if it is you dont want to add more...last let her warm up before moving your bus...
Thank care of her and youll get 1/2 million miles....also if possible park so the morning sun can be on engine hood...a lot of people in cold area will run lighter engine oil in winter...but ask the diesel mechanic....i love my diesel truck and alway give her extra care in winter...good luck happy living life
