In spite of what you may have seen on Noisey's documentaries on Atlanta hip hop, the city has a different sound than what is typically advertised or promoted. The East Atlanta rapper brings something different and refreshing to the city but how does it measure up with us? Take a listen to our album review of J.I.D.'s 'The Never Story' and let us know what you think in the comment section.

About Dead End Hip Hop:
No scripts. It's pure unfiltered hip hop conversations and album reviews. No politics. No BS. We Are The People.
jid isnt a kid btw hes 27
Yeah but Kanye released College Dropout at 27, so I don't think it matters.
They still think he's a kid😂
@@srtoushh.9773 I like it that way tbh , lol
It's the voice.

I like how Feefo has been sticking to his opinion on these things lately and not being afraid to disagree with the others. Honestly he's kinda been one of the highlights to me these last couple of months
"Southern lyricists don't exist like that shit is a myth" is pretty ironic with Mike and all straight yelling at Feefo for hearing the south here. I hear it too. Don't always trust Feefo's taste, but trust his ear. Thanks a lot for this recommendation. Loved it.
Nick Forsyth Yeah I think people just expect ATL to be straight trap when they are the home of the most innovative group Outkast and Organized Noize. Put some respek on the South.
"like my FLOW is a myth"... don't mean to be the lyric police or anything, it's just that the line is too fire not to correct lol
Nick Forsyth like my flow is a myth*
“Watch how I maneuver I influence the influencers The flow is like the flu in influenza going through the motion
So I motivate all of my niggas they tell me kill 'em with kindness
I'd rather kill 'em and their other significants”
But the way he delivers it & the flow .... He’s just on a whole other level and I’m not even reaching ...
He said "southern lyricists don't exist like my flow is a myth"
An amazing project.
Would be so cool if you got JID for an interview on dehh. Fingers crossed it might happen
John Miedema like this shit!!
JID said on twitter that he'd like to talk. It's only a matter of time now.
Lightning Zoldyck oh shit hype
I was about to tweet him
putting it in the universe
J.I.D next in line man Dope to see ATL keep flourishing their talent but with a bigger push.
Sean STROMAN Nah bro it's too good and is too true to the into the essence of hip hop. Even Kendrick had to compromise the integrity of arguably the greatet album of all time, in order to gain the clout he has today
@@joedorben3504 he didn't comprise his integrity at all if you talking about damn
@@chrism7163 Is DAMN arguably the greatest album of all time? No, so I was obviously talking about GKMC. But he did it on DAMN too. It was the fact that he chose to make poppy tracks in what was (in both cases) built up as a deep, personal album (Loyalty, DNA, Poetic Justice, Humble, Love, etc)
@@joedorben3504 did I say it was the greatest album? No. I said he didn't compromise his integrety with damn or GKMC. Just cause you make poppy tracks doesn't mean it can't be brilliant
@@joedorben3504 and GKMC a classic but it's not the greatest of all time. TPAB fits that title more
Does anyone here also like Eathgang?
Michael CSF Zeezy Shallow Graves and Strays with rabies were great !
kingdaniel4195 Let's hope they have new material this year
Michael CSF Zeezy Friday is my shit
Sooooo slept on bro its a damn crime
the spillage village crew is dope love em all
I'm just glad his name wasn't Jozz/Jas
JID feat. ScHoolboy Q
Needs to happen
Might be getting that on new Reason album
Wish Dreamville and TDE do collaborate Album together
The reason alot of people don't know about JID is because of the Trap shit, and also because Spillage Village is slept on for no damn reason. I'm from Atlanta and I've had to put people on to them and Earthgang. Cause people really don't like bonafide lyrics. But all music from Atlanta is great music, it's a great melting pot of sound
Why is every convo just Myke gettin pissed off at Feefo's dumb shit he says 😂
Word, dude got attacked hard just because he thought the rapper sounded like wayne, let him be wow ahah
Get Schwifty 😂😂😂😂
I'm heavily anticipating the More Life review, but don't sleep on this J.I.D project. Dude sounds like a trap Anderson .Paak with amazing flow
Andrew Hong anderson and Kendrick I swear
Andrew Hong if ur anticipating a good review, don't watch lol
Lol definitely not, I'm anticipating one of the funniest reviews of the year, probably
Andrew Hong Yes! I thought he sounded like Kendrick Lamar and Anderson Paak
j.i.d. and ari lennox are some of the promising artists on the come up. good move, jermaine
FACTS
Cozz & Bas too, they just need to develop a little more.
People sleep on how well Dreamville is built, they just need to really work, and not just tour together.
Lute is good too
VictoryIsMudkipz cozz last project was terrible. His first one was better
Cozz isn't a terrible artist tho. Like I said Cozz and Bas need to develop a little more. J.I.D and Ari are on the right path. Omen is a lost cause, and so is Voli (But both are dope). Idk who else is on Dreamville outside of those six.
This album was super dope!!! Earthgang and Spillage village up next!!!!
Tha Swami "DeepNspace" from NOLA as well
I disagree, Jid has a flow like Andre at times & you can easily tell he is inspired by Outkast
you saying he's on andres level?
BlackGirlFly No, not at all.
BlackGirlFly where did you get that from?
How he interpret it that way... But he is def heavily inspired by like old wayne... Kendrick... Nd paak... But he was definitely southernly sound in this project..
Jadealex Maybe
dreamville got a good artist in the making
NameorTitle finally
*Fantastic
@@tune6000 yeah maybe jid can teach J cole how to rap
ohIcanChangeMyNameIDKthat Cole should just give up
@@tune6000 y'all both stupid
This dude is more interesting than J. Cole for me.
Anselmo Luis do Carmo yeah because j cole been out for years
Eric Ribinson na cause cole is boring and corny
same man, this dude is original... jcole sounds like a dude who would get pissed on in the 90s, this kid would have been doing the pissing back then
The Musiczk98 L
Romy Taylor no he really wouldn’t have been Kendrick would’ve been respected in the 90’s and that’s shown by snoop Terrance Martin Dre etc backing him no one from the 90’s really fucks with Cole like that
wouldnt mind a straight Dreamville project at this point, a solid group of rappers
Alijah Jameal Revenge of the Dreamers 3 probably in the works.
I knew I wouldn't even have to ask for this, GREAT ALBUM. Good to see that you guys enjoyed it, I hope Rod enjoys it as well! :)
"All Bad" is easily one of the highlights
idk wtf yall mean... If yall can't hear the Atlanta/Outkast influences, then yall deaf
DEHH PATREON GANG, WE OUT HERE EATIN.
William McCarty 😑😑😑 i need to join
Yes you do, they need ya money so they can pump out that More Life review and absolutely dooky on it.
damn dude your a hater
Bmore24 t fuck Drake nigga
J.I.D kind of reminds me of andré 3000
Hey dehh. I just want to say I never knew Beezy produced all the beats you use on your channel, and I have always loved the beats featured on your episodes. So shoutout to beezy430: and GIVE THE MAN NAMES. hahaha peace
Travis Chambray do you know where to find them?
+Exotic Tees I don't unfortunately. Do you? I'm sure the information is available out there somewhere.
Travis Chambray have you checked his channel? they might be there?
Travis Chambray on his soundcloud!
I disagree J.I.D does sound super southern to me, but I'm a bit biased because I followed him from the start.
Same here
anytime Feefo says anything everyone wanna just disagree, and instead dickride everything Myke says
Sean Turner At first he was doing it to himself. Now this is just straight bullying!!! 😭😂
Sean Turner nah man I disagree. Feefo has baby ears.
Tha Swami where can I find his other projects
LAUDER IS FUCKING NUTS, yal lbugging though he definitely sounds like a southern rapper I don't know why yall have such a hard time believing it lol its all over his flow, but then again I been bumping JID since 2012 southern lyricists definitely exist
YaKuZa moon. "southern lyricist don't exist like my flow is a myth"
I think J.I.D. marks the next wave of rappers
I never heard of J.I.D so after getting halfway through Myke's critique I paused the review and went and listened to this project. J.I.D, young homie , you got a new fan in me, I will be checking for you in the future, this a diverse sonically appealing project. Note to fans of DEHH: in the future if you don't know an artist they are reviewing don't automatically dismiss it as garbage because it ain't popular as Drake or Ross you might be missing a jewel IJS...
I get that Paak vibe too, maybe a little Isaiah as well
Liam Beckman bro i thought the same thing
Liam Beckman His flow is just so unique and dope just like Isaiah's.
He is 27 actually. Doesn't change the fact that he is talented though.
More years, more stories he will tell us.
Kanye released College Dropout when he was 27.
Drop one video came right back
New Video right back
Your next video y'all gon make a track?
with TOC
see the flames in myke's E-Y-Es
They nailed this review, Myke's comments were exactly what I thought listening to this. JID made me a huge fan off of one album, can't wait to see where this kid goes.
theyre calling him young and shit. isnt he like 26?
Jack Hedeman they didn’t know and he look young af
FLAT EARTHER LOGIC HAHAHA. #PatreonGangGang
myke saying jid is from his area and doesn't sound southern but myke doesnt sound southern to me so it makes sense but jid def sounded like wayne on lauder he even puts the accent on half through the track
myke has been around there for a long time but not originally from there
If you don't like all bad then I feel sorry for you! Mereba is amazing! One of the best tracks on there even if it wasn't rap and therefore 'out of place'. Honestly one of my favorite rap/r and b albums of the year so far.
"super early 20s range", lol, he the same age as Tyler. J.I.D got hella potential tho
Feefo been getting ganged up on (pause) last few videos props to him not budging on his opinion
Lol @13:42 Hand just comes in with the phone.. Great review, guys!
Feefo flopped with the phone drop lmao the group made his moment look silly!
You guys are dying for Myke to validate your opinions on More Life huh ?
John Berry Nope. More life is one of the worst experiences I've ever had listening to music and is even worse than views, which is despise. Even if myke liked it my opinion wouldn't change, I'm not looking for him to validate my opinion, I just think it'll be fucking hilarious to have him shit on more life because every time he shits on Drake it's hilarious.
Christian Parra He wouldnt be making that comment if he relied on Mykes opinion dumbass...
Ronald & Hip Hop I just didn't think I would need to break down what I meant to some fucking halfwit that didn't understand it.
Christian Parra ....thats just what i fucking said
TruMusic89 Nope, most people just find the drake reviews especially hilarious and in particular what myke has to say about Drake albums is the best. I already have my full opinion on the album, that it's one of the worst things I've ever heard, and that's not changing.
Don't sleep on Earthgang #SpillageVillage
The first listen through I said the same thing. Heavily influenced from Wayne. I mean who isn't in our age group. Wayne was at the top of the game when we were coming up
Yes!!!
Review SMINO - BLKSWN
Why does Feefo thinking it was a southern artist such a big deal for Myke?
Be on the look out for JID new album DiCaprio 2 in September
I wanna see their faces when they found out he's 27
I mean bro.
Im 20 and I read The Odyssey in school. A lot of people do. You don't gotta be that old.
Myke's new job on every review: call people out on their shit.
This week's edition; Feefo be lyin' about knowin' J.I.D. is Southern.
Underwear has to be my favorite track on this album/project/mixtape whatever "The Never Story" was dope and refreshing to hear
Jidenna - The Chief !
He's the most different sounding artist in dreamville, not counting ari of course because she's a singer. Not saying they're bad but Everyone else is just too much like j cole but he was too dope, without a doubt my favorite dreamville
Can you review Kendrick's new album? I heard it was pretty good.
Bandstand when this come out?
Hypebeast Kid Buu L
I bought it back in Febuberry.
Bandstand it's DAMN good!!!
Lakeside Outlaw. BOOOOOO!! BOOOO that you waited 10 months to make that joke. BOOOOOO!!!
I hope y'all check out some of the EarthGang projects if y'all haven't already. They're how I found out about J.I.D
Watching this again, I totally agree with Feefo. He sounds like Wayne. Has the same cadence. Just because Wayne sounded overtly Southern doesn't mean JID has to sound overtly southern. Look at A$AP Rocky - he doesn't sound like he's really from H-town on any songs anymore, unless they sample or feature someone from there. I'm not tryna make the same cadence argument with Rocky, but do you get what I mean?
Love yall review style sound like me and my boys in the backyard drinking and arguing about music
Man, I've been waiting for this review. I love this album so much, thank you very much Dehh. Dehh giving another great young artist some shout.
Dude.....we are here!!!! I'm an artist from Mississippi ...and I promise you ....I'm good....I just need the right ear man......just the right shot.....the south has lyrics too.....we just don't get the shine we need to prosper
what he says at 9:22 is fcking facts your mood is probalby one of the biggest factors in evaluating music
Being 19 he close af to my age ; as soon as I saw EdEddEddy ... i was like its gone be dope cause its such a iconic cartoon 90s babies grew up off of ; we got j cole and Kendrick we look up to but very few close ro my age to really give the representation of my generation thats more than just being turnt and fucked up all the tome " although when he said " eight in my pre roles " thats my shit 😂😂.
Alfonso G yea i know Joey but I never just heard legit representation of like what we grew up off of . I gotta real different vibe from joey its dope af but I like J.I.D alot . Like I BEEN WAITING FOR A RAPPER TO QUOTE BEOWULF. cause that was my favorite like story i read in AP english so its dope to hear this from him
Dj 97 I hate to break it to you but he's 26😂😂😂
Malik yeah was kind of sad that he was old or at least not young as I thought he was
You aint got no case!
I do got a case.
Legendary dehh moment
"Southern lyrist doesn't exist like flow is a myth" -J.I.D. How ya'll miss this??
It’s funny how the only complaint about jid is that people are mad that the song is over lmao
I like the addition of the podcast, it's a pleasure to listen too. The podcast are filled with laughter, introspective takes on political issues and random topics. Keep it up!!!!
Sometimes I don't know the artist in review but this channel has me rollin.
Can y'all review Preacher's Son by TUT.
Ik it's old, but you guys would love that album.
Dope review for a very dope project. This album is gonna go under the radar sadly.
Crazy shit is J.I.D is 26
Justin Brown what? No he’s not😂 he’s not even 21 yet
J.T Remmington yes he is look it up
Been waitin for y'all to review this!!
🙌🏾🙌🏾
JID lived with Earthgang. He was all over Spillage Village's projects.
yay. I was hoping yall would review this
Vote for my man J.I.D XXL freshmen 2018
what happened to the couches
This album is so so dope, Never wow that shit was super dope
The Feefo Wayne take seemed crazy back then but JID's manager Barry said that Wayne is JID's favorite artist and that his eaarliest music sounded more Wayne than Kendrick
Are y'all going to review Raekwon's new project?
Thank you for doin this review fellas!
Man, Hereditary is my favorite song on the album. That and 8701. Also, the intro really goes, only wish it was longer.
Please review G Perico - Shit Don't stop. It's some West coast gangsta shit and it SLAPS! Very slept on.
Word. Bout time dude got some shine. An EarthGang review would complete the cipher. If y'all fuckin with JID y'all need to fux with EarthGang.
Thanks DEHH. Just discovered this album because of this video.
Jonwayne - Rap Album Two
What about Joey's 1999 ? That shit made me think bada$$ gon be Nas 2.0 he still could be though
where that goldlink review ??
Des Crawford that shit was dope frfr
Des Crawford I was so so surprised his last album was good but never thought he would come this hard the whole way through especially the freestyle that song bumps my nigga
Des Crawford Amazing album
I was cringing when they kept assuming he was in his early 20s but he's 27. This is why his project was so polished and dope.
FallingLeaf 26*
myke needs to be right all the time....the man thought he sounded like Wayne...godamm
My cousin introduced me to this album for the first time. Man I was hooked right after track 1.
Y'all never agree with what Feefo says in these videos 😂
When Feefo dropped his phone lmao!
Harry Verolme 😂😂😂😂 i was dead
love the video and thanks for the new music
y'all the type to get into a yelling match over where the guy sounds like he's from lmfaooo
Yay been waiting for this review
Where did Kin's kid watch Ed Edd N' Eddy???? Lmao but man I'm all for that interview. Let's get that going, gotta blow up his mentions lol
listen to nick grant he is another atlanta rapper thats good that isnt trap or migos
Spillage village, earthgang. Bears like this, bears like this too, bears like this too much, strays with rabies, shallow graves for toys, there's so much work out to see their talent. J.I.D has been around for a minute.
Been playing this album since it dropped..New Freddie Gibbs is fire as well. Hope y'all review it.
I most definitely will look into this artist
wild prediction Mike didn't like it on the first listen
