Childish Gambino is back with a new album 'Awaken, My Love!' and here is our review of it. Donald Glover is winning. His new show on FX 'Atlanta' is receiving a lot of praise up for multiple awards. He's set to star in the new Star Wars movie. And now he's put out a new album that has Questlove waking up D'Angelo at 4AM after his first listen to it. Now that we've had time to sit with it, here are our thoughts on 'Awaken, My Love!' Let us know what you think of the album in the comment section.

California was one of the worst songs I've ever heard,but Awaken My Love Is so good other then that
I feel like the concept of this album was Childish speaking as the father of his child throughout the album about things going on in society like police brutality (Boogieman) & protesting (Riot), people leaching (Zombies), chasing dreams (California), but also having love still, among it all (Have Some Love) while also speaking to the childs mother on songs like Redbone & Terrified but on Baby Boy the son is taken away from him because of a relationship that fell apart but is showing how much of a loving father he still is. I also feel like "Stand Tall" is the kid all grown up reflecting on advice he got from his father, it's weird too because Stand Tall to me has the most modern sound which stood out to me. Idk, I could be wrong but that's how I enjoy interpreting this one. Amazing album, love it from start to finish.

This album is Bino's best work to date. Good god the Parliament, Hendrix, Prince, and Funkadelic influence is so god damn awe inspiring... This album brings me back to when my dad would play this shit at home when I was little. And the Maggot Brain ode was dope thumbs up to this fucking album, this my album of the year!!! Zombies, Riot, Stand Tall, California, and Boogie Man are some of my favorites, but the whole album is perfect to me!!!

The Falsettos with the way he goes crazy with the rough melodic raw screaming, and the fuzzed out guitars and grooves. Reminds me of some Band Of Gypsys type shit.

This album set the tone of the rest of my 2016 and beginning of 2017. I have trouble listening to any other music right now. This is hopefully a resurrection of soul music. We need to feel again and I feel like this album makes u feel more than anything a feeling of pride of funk of spirit. This is so live.
I'm more of a Because of the Internet fan than this album. I was expecting this to be a rap album but not tripping if it isn't but Gambino has some real talent man....good album for it's genre.
I still think Because The Internet is his masterpiece. To steal one from Feefo, it was cohesive and I liked the concept behind it. But Gambino proved himself capable of experimenting with other sounds on this album. I loved it from beginning to end. Is there anything this man can't do?

It basically was. He had a concert in the middle of the desert in Joshua tree califorina, in a crazy dome and preformed the whole album (plus a cover of hit it and quit it) back in september. One of the most amazing, well thought of concerts i've ever been to.

It does feel like a live event. When I was at his Pharos event, it was mind blowing and overwhelming, but like I was just happy and filled with emotions, and the visuals were wild!
I remember reading that this is an album that is better if you listen to it in the background.

I wasn't really checking for him before this project but Gambino made me a fan with this album. It gave me Prince/D'Angelo neo soul, funk type vibes which absolutely shocked me. I was literally blown away by this piece.

With the album title being Awake, My love, I thought this album could be a conversation between Gambino and a significant other from tracks 1 to 8 then between him and his child from 9 to 10. There's a lot more to dissect within each track, but that might be how it ties the whole project together
