They were the first Japanese band to headline Wembley Arena in the UK, they will be playing their first US arena show at the Forum in LA in October (as part of a 20 date headlining tour in towns and cities all round the US). Gimme Chocolate is one of the more 'pop' songs - they mix it up and have some light, fun songs, some heavier and more serious, but always positive and always fun - you could call them happy metal, they refer to the genre they have created as Kawaii-metal (kawaii = cute as in adorable, like puppies and kittens). The musicians you see in the music video are not playing live, they are called Babybones, they act like playing but they are not, the band used to have them in their early career (2010-2014), but since the fourth quarter of 2014 until now they are mainly using live band. But all singing done by the center girl, called "Su-Metal" is live, not lip-syncing. The musicians who played the studio version of the song are not clear who they are. Been enjoying your videos since you started doing Linkin Park. Based on my experience watching your reactions, I think you should check out their newest song Pa Pa Ya to see what they sound like now. But after that go back and check out Megitsune and Karate. After that do the live versions of their songs like Road of Resistance, Headbanger, and Ijime, Dame, Zettai. Whatever order you decide to watch Babymetal, I can promise you you are in for a treat!

I personally really like the official videos for Megitsune (that's the one that got me into them) and Karate (the live versions of these songs are just as awesome though), Headbangeeer! (absolutely love the Budokan live version) also great, and YAVA (there's a live compilation here on YT that's really good), and the new song PA PA YA! is probably one that'll get you as hyped up as this one did, it's very high energy. And their other new song which the fans have dubbed Shanti until we get an official name is awesome too. I mean everything of theirs is awesome but those are my personal faves. The two 'support girls' are around 14, and the lead singer about 16 in this video, iirc. The backing band at this time never showed their faces, but I know Shiren was one for a while, and his is a god tier guitarist.

BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break.
They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol goup Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength.
They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar.

The band is the Kami band although what you are seeing in the background is not the actual band but a group called baby bones. When they first started they used the fake band in concerts but after the first tour (I think) they started using the actual band which as I said is the Kami band made up of some of the best metal musicians in all of Japan

only the 3 singers are female. at this point (as this was a few years ago) yes they were under 18. there have been some changes in the last year or so to the lineup except for the backing band called The Kami band. if you like them check out a band called Band-Maid they are an all female group and they play their own instruments.
